Greetings and salutations.

With Season 1 of the Living Story drawing to a close, it seems appropriate to offer review and reflection of everything that has come thus far. Sadly, there is much to consider, as the brand new path trod by Anet has many missteps and mishaps along the way.

Rather than talk about individual flaws, I thought it might be best to take a stab at the overall writing style of the Living Story and the narrative flaws it continues to exhibit. Plot holes come and go, individual complaints will always remain, but the best way to help Season 2 is to consider the pitfalls of Season 1 from a writing and gaming perspective. And so, I thought I would offer up a bit of constructive criticism in silly infographic format.

But really. Let us throw all the extra Mini Jennahs in the Mystic Forge. Please.

There’s a function in the keybind settings called “lock auto target”. It would be exceptionally useful if that function could be bound to the right mouse button, in addition to controlling your characters direction.

Alternatively, please fix the function “promote skill targets” in the general settings to actually do what the tooltip implies it should do. Right now it doesn’t seem to work at all.

The Clocktower was one of the greatest releases of Anet. Your thread title speaks volumes to why Liadri is so awesome, and more of the same needs to be provided in each bi-weekly update.

I don’t really like getting frustrated, but Clocktower was so satisfying to complete (Not to mention it got easier for me after I completed it the 1st time). I expect Liadri’s going to be the same in that regard.

Why should every ACHIEVEMENT be made possible for everyone? Clocktower was amazing. And when I finally did it. kitten , I felt so kittening good. It’s a challenge and an achievement to do it. If you can’t nobody is going to look down on you that you can’t. Liadri is hard and I don’t have her either yet. Maybe I won’t even be able to defeat her at all. Well, that sucks balls then.

The meta achievements don’t need everything. You can do it without them. If you really want to get it, play it more, practise more. It will take time. Why does everyone want everything to finish in a couple of hours. I can’t compute it.

There are many I have seen who have falsely claimed that Evon is a corrupt and selfish charr. I find this highly unlikely. A few years after Lion’s Arch was built and was coming to fruition, Yomm, the merchant-master at the time, decided to join the council. Many of the council members were against this (believing him to only be joining the council for his own personal profit), but due to the rules at the time, he made it aboard. Not only did he go out of his way to strengthen the city, but due to his support and economic expertise, the city turned into the trader’s central it is today. Without him, Lion’s Arch would still be but a town. I believe Gnashblade is in the same regards. We need another Yomm for the city. We need Evon.

Besides, Kiel shouldn’t be stuck at a desk. She should be out on the field. She’s made to be a cop, not a councilwoman. The only reason she’s doing this is because Magnus convinced her to.

If Evon establishes a trade agreement with the Zephyrites, then we could potentially see some special and unique items appear in the Black Lion gem store. On top of all this, we will get to fight the GW2 equivalent of Poseidon; enough said.

The use of Exit Polling and media “projections” of results should NOT be a common practice and should be made illegal. While it’s nearly impossible to prove they make a difference one way or another, nobody can deny that if they did not happen they definitely COULD NOT effect the outcome (in fact that’s the only way to make sure they do not). Only official count numbers should ever be reported (after ALL polling places close).

The entire control of how this “election” turns out is in ANet’s hands so I for one am not considering it a valid vote by an stretch of the imagination. The fact that so many players ARE seeing that way is slightly amusing to me.

If they were going to rig the election why have it in the first place?

A mary sue, that’s the kind of lame pirate that does that.

I think alot of people have missed alot of the developing story.

Lets start with Flame and Frost. In it we see the very unlikely dredge and Flame Legion allaince, the Molten Alliance. Their goal does seem conquest oriented but much of their focus was on developing an amalgum of magic and engineering. When attacking their facilities we find they are using slaves to mine a substance called Azurite that seems to have the properties of being able to conduct magical energy and seems to be part of how their technology works.

In the wake of this we find out another fact. It was a third party that arranged the allaince and though we know what the dredge and Flame Legion were after this third group remains out of sight including what it got out of the deal.

Secrets of Southsun was a break in the story used to introduct Keil and Kasmeer.

With the Dragon bash festival we are introduced to said festival. At the height of the festival, an act of sabotage kills one of the leader of LA and introduces a new enemy, the Aetherblades who we all know are sky pirates. Unmasking Mai as the murderer we discover that the Aetherblades saught to secure a place on the Captian’s Council.

Now the interesting part. In attacking their base of operations we discover three facts. One is that the Inquest is supporting them. Second is that the Aetherblades themselves lack the skills to mantain their gear by themselves (Keil states this). Third, we discover Mai, leader of the Aetherblades, has a boss, Scarlet.

Now we have two groups with someone manipulating them from the shadows.

The festival ends with Mai telling us that the Aetherblades arent done yet.

Now we have the Bazaar of the Four Winds. Theres alot to the story and lore of the Zephyrites. Infact the Zephyrites may have something of increadable value.

He has some points wrong but the general gist is there.

So now we have a group working from the shadows. connected to the Inquest, and who have recently formed a force of Sky Pirates, and a sky ship potentially holding artifacts and knowledge of great power…..

And thats ignoring Mr E., Marjory and Kasmeer’s connection to the corruption in the Ministary in DR, the politics of LA and the personal stories of Braham and Roxx.

And people say theres no story in the Living World story…..

I think the issue is more that people are missing the threads of the story for whatever reason.

A lot people seem to skip all the dialogue, cutscenes, don’t talk to NPCs and then start screaming that they don’t get it. That’s like falling asleep in a movie, waking up halfway through, and getting angry with the filmmakers for not explaining the story well enough.

Good, that’s what you should do. You should report them instead of answering to their attacks. I would advise you to leave the race and to join it again after winning so that you won’t have to put up with this kind of stuff.
Though I see no problem and I will let people get first if I get the chance (I rarely ever do, but still), like I told you before, they shouldn’t be mean to you because you are winning.
I hope you end up finding a group of competitive players that won’t do this kind of stuff. Good luck.

Edit: Excuse me, but the “friendly and helpful” community shouldn’t be mean to people.
I remember that just after I started playing a group of people asked if we would be ok with letting one person win at a time so that everybody would be able to get the achievement. I said that I was fine with it, so they picked me to go first because they decided it would be by alphabetic order and my main character’s name is “Astrid Strongheart”. The thing is that I had just started playing the game, so I was pretty bad at it. One person saw it and rushed to the finishing line, called us “noobs” and said that he would win again and again. People called him a jerk or something like that, I said “It’s ok guys, I’m really bad at it anyways”. We started another race, alright, and my game crashed due to one of my Window’s errors. I went back to the game and, three races later, got the achievement with my own effort.
What I’m saying is that there is no reason to attack each other. If our community was as “friendly and helpful” as people are claiming to be, there would be no need for me to post this.

Just delete the obsolete skin, then login to your other character that needs the skin. Open acheivement window, click on the skin in withdrawn window.
Presto! U got a new skin on the character you want.

I’m severally disabled and thus cannot work, therefore I do not get paid for a job done. If you can’t do the job (JP), then you don’t get paid (Achievement). And don’t throw out the Achievement Reward system as an argument. There are two types of hindered people: those that learn to adapt and accept their situation (in this case knowing it’ll take longer to get the Achievement Rewards), and those that whine about “fairness” and “equality”.

So ANet should – in the future – not release content that requires an internet connection or eyes?

Kilrik, it’s actually unlocked on your achievement tab, just like HoM rewards.

Just some background information on the OP. He had a previous thread where he wanted the drop rate of charged lodestones nerfed. Why? Because he had his Legendary made and wanted to deny others their Legendary so he could feel more special.

I see you haven’t lost your sense of entitlement OP. First you want to make it harder for other people to get a Legendary after you got one, now you want extra rewards for playing some other game. Somehow I’m not surprised to see this thread from you.
