You need to stop conflating shield with Glint (Legendary Dragon stance). While they are related, they aren’t the same. I use shield in Jalis stance all the time.

Soothing Stone should clear conditions before applying the heal.

Inspiring Reinforcement should either give a flat amount of stability at the start or increase the pulsed duration to 2 seconds.

Everything else about Jalis fine.

Aside from the hammers being useless currently, you mean.

Facet of Elements in Glint, Unyielding Anguish in Mallyx, and PT in Shiro. Then you have Axe 4 and staff 5. At a slightly shorter range you have Unrelenting Assault.

But totally, we have no mobility options.

Dindt know Facet of Elements is a gap closer. Thats new to me.
Unyielding anguish is questionable as it cover quite small distance when we take a look at it casttime.
Axe 4 has 12 cd and is dodgeable, but lets count that as one way to get mobility (meanwhile thief can jsut spam shadowshot..)
Staff 5 is not really a gap closer.

I got a idea. Try to run without Shiro and give a try to catch my gs ranger k?

You said “mobility”, not “gap closer”. Words mean things, you know.

I’ve got a second idea. You catch my Glint/Mallyx Rev with a Guard without using JI, then I’ll try to catch your GS ranger.

Upon even further testing it does look like it will not trigger at 100% HP even if you have a soft cc on you such as cripple.

sigh… -_-

Fortunately the chances of you being crippled at 100% hp are slim to almost absolute zero. Although it is still problematic depending on skills, traits, and synergies that Anet might implement in the future QQ.

True but I’m envisioning situations where you lay it down preemptively and then get cc’d inside of it making reaching the edge and getting back inside that much harder.

The arming time is enough that if you run forward, lay it down, heal up to 100%, and then back track to use the cleanse, it won’t trigger with you inside of it if you entered back at 100%.

It also reduces the usefulness of cleansing cc off of allies if they heal back up to 100% but still have a condition on them.

None of these are probably that game breaking but it feels way more clunky now. It’s really what I was afraid of when they said it was going to be a trap. They took a perfect heal skill and made it a lot more awkward for a stronger overall effect.

At this point I’d almost prefer the old version. It wasn’t as powerful but it worked when I needed it to and with no caveats attached.

Why would you use your main heal skill preemptively enough to still be at 100% (thus wasting the entire heal on it), but not preemptively enough that you can’t move, what, 180 or 240 units to get out of the circle before getting rekt?

Most MMOs are doing this. Not to screw over loyal players. Here’s your options. You can wait 8-10 years till there are no more expansions, buy the last expansion and start playing the game 10 years from now, or you can buy the games when they come out and enjoy them from the beginning, during which time you can accumulate wealth, among other things.

Just for logging in, I got all of Living Story Season 2 unlocked. I got to see all of the living World Season 1 which can’t even be experienced by new players. I was at the Southsun Karka event. I’ve played a PvP map that doesn’t exist anymore. I was there for orbs in WvW. There are a ton of experiences I’ve had new players will never have. There’s a boatload of wealth I’ve gotten new players won’t have. Hell I have six legendaries.

Most MMOs are going this route, because imagine, 8 years from now, if a new player had to buy four or five games just to play with everyone in the new content. It’s a barrier to entry that’s bad for the company. But it’s not just bad for the company. It’s bad for veterans, because due to natural attrition in all games, we NEED new players.

WoW is doing this. EQ is doing this. It’s becoming normal for a company to remove barriers to get new players into their game.

Why is this so hard for people to understand?

Because if they actually cared about attracting new players AND retaining vets, everyone would get the same deal: pay for the core, get added content at no change.

Instead, loyal longtime players get double charged, which would do nothing but accelerate that “natural attrition” you mentioned.

I'd call this a win.

Its a win now, and to cover their butts later.

Basically, “oops, we werent expecting this reaction, give them the character slot.”
Yay win! I’m happy with this change even!

final paragraph: “We are going to give away previous needed content for free to new players from now on when a new xpac comes out. This is a heads up so you can’t yell at us for doing this again.”

aka: You get a free character slot now, but the future looks doubtful.

Nope the future doesn’t look doubtful. This is what most MMOs do now. It’s NORMAL. If you buy WoW now and you have the core game you get every expansion they ever offered free. EQ is doing. There’s no reason for a company not to do it. Who the hell is going to buy four, five six games just to play your MMO.

The future is bright because they’re doing this.

The issue is not even remotely that new purchasers get it for free. It’s how it screws over older players, who are paying more for supporting the product earlier

Who is going to buy 4-6 games for an MMO? Ask anyone who’s played WoW from core to current. Ask anyone who played Guild Wars from Prophecies to Eye of the North. And unless Guild Wars 2 has no more expansions, ask anyone who’s still around from core to the next expansion or two.

I'd call this a win.

As long as a character slot is included with any expansion that adds a class, I am happy. It does not bother me that new players get previous content included with the purchase of the latest expansion. That only benefits the community.

So you actually prefer to pay $100 for the exact same content that the creator of the game has effectively pegged as being worth $50?

Do you willingly double pay for all services, or is Anet just special?

Also, by your logic, if giving new players HoT for free only benefits the community, then clearly giving all players HoT for free would only benefit the community even more. Where’s your push for the entire community, rather than just those who haven’t played yet?

I put a couple superior trebs down and start hitting the gate from range.

Ugh. Don’t use a treb on a gate.

“The primary purpose of trebuchets is to destroy walls over distances too large for a catapult, although they can also deal reduced damage to gates and infantry”

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trebuchet

Nothing wrong with trebbing a gate if you’re already in a good position to do so and the treb will not hit walls from that position, and the enemy will not allow you to reposition.

Why the hate for open field siege?

BladeBraverBureba.1052

It overpowers combat. So the other side has three choices. Either go directly at the siege to kill it, build counter siege and get into a siege war, or ignore the siege and try fighting in the arrow and poison fire.

Option one gives away where you’re going and lets the other zerg know where exactly to hit. This limits your movement and positioning options. You commit to the siege spot and moving out of it nullifies the point of what you’re doing.

Option two prolongs the situation. It can work but it can also end up in a lot of standing around and staring at each other across distances. The general problem with siege fights is that there’s only so much siege and so many more players. 10% of the group will be firing on siege while the other 90% are staring into the abyss, essentially not actively playing the game.

Option three tends to just get you killed. Siege damage is too much coverage to ignore.

You forgot Option 4: Go somewhere else, and make the supply they dumped into said open-field siege a waste.

Does OS kills farm affect you? Sollutions?

Second, GvG means Guild versus Guild. The extra kind of fluff stuff you’re trying to tack on doesn’t have a thing to do with it. As for it’s competitive nature and rward, it’s in becoming more coordinated with your guild/groups to overcome another coordinated guild/groups with the same numbers.

The “fluff stuff” he’s talking about is exactly the stuff that was part of GvG in the original Guild Wars, and part of what made GvG exciting, fun, and competitive. Clearly, you never played that format, or never played the original Guild Wars at all.

20 people on each side slamming into each other for 30 seconds of fighting is an abomination to the term “Guild vs Guild”. Good matches in GW1 would exceed 20 minutes of highly-coordinated spikes, maneuvers and defenses before one side won. Bad matches could still take up to 10 to win.

If you think this current, makeshift format is actually competitive and interesting, you’d crap yourself if you ever watched a real GvG, even one as bad as Bloodspike vs IWAY.

WvW has been stagnant for a great long time.

I think a great idea to change things up is a new map similar to EB only an NPC faction defaultly controls the center keep. So it becomes a battle of defeating the keep, while also attacking opposing servers to stall their own progress.

You know it’s stagnant when one can disappear from the game for a year, and come back to see that none of the meta builds from the previous year have stopped being meta.

While its not fair to force population balances, look at the other side too. how is it fair for servers to deliberately wait until off hours to show up and flip the whole map? The core of the problem lies in both sides. and it has been an ongoing complaint since day 1 and its never going to change. might as well just save your coin and stop doing upgrades

So it’s the fault of the attacking server that the defending server doesn’t recruit an SEA/Oceanic force to prevent the attacking server from NA night capping?

Do you see the WP?

what does the WP have to do with anything?

I’m guessing they are trying to infer that because a WP was built, that so much time had passed that there was NO WAY a Mesmer could STILL be up there and not be noticed.

I disagree with that stance, it’s entirely possible, and the screenshot doesn’t support the idea of a flying hack.

One thing I do notice, is that it seems like an odd argument to me, BlackDevil, to suggest warrior does X better, ele does Y better, and guardian does Z better. If engineer can do good at all of it, does it matter if 3 professions combined can do it “better”?

Yes, actually, because the Engineer has to replace something. When every class and player has a role, a jack-of-all-trades that is only “good” at the things it can do pales in comparison to something that is “great” or “excellent” at what it does, even if the Engineer is “good” at more things than the other class is “great” at.

Edge of the mists Unbalanced

BladeBraverBureba.1052

Hi all

Why is edge of the mists so unbalanced.. ?!?.. I mean I do understand why all the green servers being green and so on…

but eotm seems to be always in favor of greens.. I get that SFR always win (mostly).. so greens always have a massive population…

I mean cmon.. at least rotate these servers on eotm… dont always make them green..

Anet are usually good at balancing skills, bosses and characters.. they do skill balances each update even when I didnt know there was an unbalance… but edge of the mists seems to be a runaway train when it comes to balance

why dont they just random the servers each week.. even if SFR is green each week.. dont make them green each week on edge.. in fact.. make new colours.. just random it up a little..

I mean I’m green some weeks too.. and if SFR are green.. then its just steam roll over the map all week.. and that’s fine.. I usually make a new char when I’m green.. I’ll level too 80 by weeks end..

is there a reason why its so unbalanced?.. is it meant to be this way??

I mean it is easily fixed.. just don’t relate eotm too wvw.. change it up a little.. make the colours spawn random… and level the playing field..

I only say this cause of some low tier servers that are always mostly red.. they must find edge of the mists daunting.. by constant steam rolled by greens…

easy fix.. make new colours.. (yellow, purple, brown).. mix up the edge match ups each week.. not depending on their WvW result..

Anet focus on balance a lot.. its strange they completely ignore this super unbalance.. and its going on for awhile now..

the map itself doesnt help.. reds easiest too take.. greens the toughest too take.. I mean it almost seems engineered this way.. if so.. why??

fix it.. and make it fun for all servers.. not just for servers that are green..

S.

Understatment.

Maybe EoTM needs to be where Jade Quarry fights with the lowest servers.

Maybe EoTM needs to have all the larger servers fighting with the lower servers – balance can be had.

It just doesn’t seem that there are very many who are working to balance one thing before moving on an complicating the game with more… More bugs, more problems and still not many really fixed.

Jade Quarry does fight with the lowest servers in EotM. If they are green, then the lowest server that is also green is fighting with JQ. And the second-lowest green. And the third. And so on.

Edge of the mists Unbalanced

in WvW

Posted by: BladeBraverBureba.1052

BladeBraverBureba.1052

so its designed to be unbalanced.. but why?.. I mean not really fair for the servers that are constantly red to have a completely different game experience than the green or blue teams.. I thought guild wars was all about balance and fair play.. but I just don’t understand why?.. surely its an easy solution.. just randomize the colors or something..

It’s designed to be unbalanced because it doesn’t count for anything. The only thing you get for “winning” is some supply dropped into the borderlands of the color that wins, which can’t be +5’d. There’s little point making EotM competitive, when the reward is essentially nothing.

On top of that, because there can be multiple EotM instances running at once, if your side is always losing EotM, you just have terrible luck on which instances you are getting into. In many of those that I have joined, green has been spawncamped for the entirety of a round. And then the same will happen on blue and red next instance.

@Blade

Yes I do get your point, But what if there’s a majority regarding on that consensus that something needs improvement, would that be still flawed?

“Threads exist, therefore they are true” is always a flawed argument, regardless of how real the problem actually is in regards to the subject, because it’s a very lazy argument. Stating a problem, and then pointing to the opinions of others will not convince people. You have to make your own points. State the problem, list the reasons why this is a problem (even if you have to take the points from another thread that you agree with), and then at the end, you can include, “BTW, look at all these other threads that agree with me”. THAT is a much more convincing and valid argument than “Hey, these exist, so they must be right”, and you may not have even contributed new information! It could just be a re-hash of previous statements, but simply taking the time to outline the issue will always be better than “Someone else says so, therefore it is”.

But this is starting to get off topic. At the end of the day, all I wanted was a better argument for your position. Provide it, and we can get back on topic.

I had a thread in the past that had my points but It got deleted, Not making excuses but I figured at this point of time, much of the ranger community would surely noticed a lot of Pet AI problems already, but okay I will list them again.

Pet Pathing

a.) When you jump off a ledge like In Spirit Watch or Skyhammer, your pet takes the longer route to follow you, This isn’t a problem when your OOC but when you are in combat, this sucks and just swapped, this sucks.

b.) Pets for some reason have a hard time sticking to their target, especially melee pets. If the target is moving and kiting, the pet like cats will barely able to catch up. You can say I can cripple them, but all I’m saying is that, why would you need to do an extra effort just to make them hit more often?

Pet Skills/Pathing

a.) Drakes f2: If the target just moves an inch away from the drake, it will cancel its f2, and put it on cd, wasting it.

b.) leaps f2: target can just move away negating this completely (this one not really an AI issue just a design issue)

Passive/Aggressive Bug

and so on,.

Much of the ranger community probably does know, but I just came back to the game about a week and a half ago from a yearlong hiatus, and although I had a ranger, they were still very underpowered when I left, and so I used it strictly for PvE farming. Coming back to ranger actually hitting hard and having viable uses in WvW, I’m still discovering what has changed, what hasn’t, and what the issues are. So I do like to see the issues spelled out.

I don’t actually know what the “Passive/Aggressive bug” is, so I will need that one explained. I will read the other points provided and get back to you.

is Anet kinda telling us our specialization is gonna perform subpar compared to the others?

We already have our current pets, and we are not sub-par compared to other classes. We have a part in the current meta in all 3 game modes.

People just love their forum qq and can’t even log to the game and play it to see for themselves.

Pet improvement/ fix threads wouldn’t exist if our pets was okay right? And how many rangers did you see in high tier pvp? Excuse me sir this not a qq thread stop being so defensive lol.

PS: you mean our current pets that have pathing issues? Have trouble sticking to the target? Useless in Zergs?

ALSO, meta for pve? PVE is braindead as it is, any build can work. LOL.

Oh do not even tell me this a L2P issue (if you would use that if ever) . I am confident with my skills thank you.

For every issue, threads will ALWAYS exist that either say that something is too weak, or that something is too strong. So this thought that “because threads exist, therefore it is”, is invalid.

Your argument is the one invalid, why? So are you telling me rangers who wanted general pet improvement are delusional?

There is a reason why these threads exist, at the same time, IMPROVEMENT THREADS are different from the OP TOO STRONG THREADS. I mean its common sense isn’kitten

I’m telling you that the thought process of “Threads exist, therefore what they say is true” is invalid. Your post that I responded to started off with this thought by saying, “Pet improvement/ fix threads wouldn’t exist if our pets was okay right?”. My argument is that those threads will exist, regardless if the pets are okay or not, because there will always be people who find that what is “okay” by some is “too weak” by others, and these others will create these threads demanding improvement to that which others deem “ok”. Therefore, “Threads exist, therefore what they say is true” is not a solid argument. Or is this too complicated a concept for you?

You also describe very general problems that are not pet-specific. Pathing will always be an issue, because AI will always take the most direct route, never what is actually the shortest or the most tactical. As to sticking to the target, I’m not sure what you mean. My pets attack my targets until I stop attacking them or command the pet to. I don’t know what you are experiencing, because I have yet to. As to useless in zergs, what AI isn’t? AI cannot make strategic retreats or repositions, and even if they could, could only do so along a predefined, predictable path. This is not a pet-specific problem, and would be wrong place to complain about it, because you can’t fix pet AI without fixing AI as a whole.

And no, “IMPROVEMENT NEED FIX RIGHT MEOW” threads are not much different than “OP NERF NAO” threads. At the end of the day, both are complaining that something needs fixing in their eyes, because something is broken. The only difference is, is it unplayable, or too easy to play?

And finally, I’m not even attacking the idea that pets may need improvements (outside of attacking the idea that pet AI is a pet problem and not an general AI problem). The only thing I’m attacking, in this entire post, is your first sentence of that post I initially quoted, “Pet improvement/ fix threads wouldn’t exist if our pets was okay right?”, because it’s a very flawed argument, and I hate when people use that kind of argument and think that it was somehow deep and insightful into the issue.

Lemme get this straight.

Class balance and Rapid Fire

How much will it take for you guys to understand that if you start the cast before enemy enter in stealth it will still hit him in stealth, btw this thing is viable for EVERY cast in the game

I do understand this, but unlike almost every other ability in the game, Rapid Fire continues to track your target. Other abilities will hit a stealthed opponent, but the person who is stealthed can just move out of it.

Rifle warrior can do the exact same thing but it`s jut unpopular.

No, Warrior can’t because “volley” doesn’t hit nearly as hard as “Rapid Fire”

After 2 kitten years when ranger finally gets usefull by buffing 1 single power everybody starts crying.
Chill bros you wont drown our class with your tears !

Asking for some needed balance isn’t the same as crying. I’m not asking for a huge nerf. I am glad rangers are more powerful than they were. They used to be way underpowered and needed a big buff. But, A-net’s buff was a bit of a kneejerk reaction that buffed “Rapid Fire” a bit too much. They can keep the high damage of rapid fire, but they need to add some restrictions, such as making “Rapid Fire” interruptible by the Ranger’s movement, similar to “Hundred Blades.” Or, making the ranger’s immobilize be broken by stunbreaks.

In order for a Ranger to instadown you with Rapid Fire, not only does the Ranger have to have no defensive gear whatsoever, but the person he’s firing on has to have none as well. I run a Power Ranger (inb4 mentions of the show) with full offensive gear, and against any enemy with any sort of defensive setup, I will not break 10k on a single Rapid Fire (which will NEVER down ANYONE from full).

As to your comparison of Warrior vs. Ranger, Warrior has much better inherent defense as a class. Higher health, armor and heavier armor. Having an armored tank being able to move while performing Hundred Blades WOULD be OP. In addition, Hundred Blades can hit 3 people each swing in an arc in front of the Warrior.

Rangers, however, wilt under any pressure while using Rapid Fire, and can only hit one person from any angle or range, unless specifically traited for piercing arrows (which many Power Rangers no longer take). The two classes are not comparable, and the two skills are not comparable.

If you are going from full to downed with just Rapid Fire, either stop bringing your uplevels, or put on some Soldier gear.

Some traits, no matter how much you buff them or move them in the trait trees, will never be attractive. Some people brought up on down traits or falling damage traits. Just get rid of these completely.

The falling damage traits are designed to be swapped in during WvW. They do their job, and they do their job well.

Just because you don’t WvW doesn’t mean they should be removed.

How come the skills don’t just have the PVP and PVE separation like in Guild Wars 1? Because by nerfing skills and classes into the ground in PVP, it affects PVE players. It worked out really well in Guild Wars 1, Dont forget your roots!

Yes, please use separate PVP and PVE skills. Its a perfect solution.

Why not just ask for GW3? These requests for “please separate this from PvP/PvE”. Sheesh. Where do you draw the line? You don’t like something “put it in an area that I don’t really play”. Think of how confusing it would be to new players (which is, I’m sure, what ANet wants) if they come into the game and you have traits and skills all hodge-podge around the board depending on what aspect of the game you’re in. No. You MUST have structure and continuity. There must be some universal truths.

Then ANet should never have started separating PvE skills from PvP/WvW to begin with in this game.

I believe all of the classes already have at least one skill or trait that operates differently in some fashion in PvP/WvW than it does in PvE, not to mention that multiple runes function differently as well (not to mention the complete lack of some runes in PvP).

If you really gave a kitten about “structure and continuity”, you would be calling for ANet to undo the separations they’ve already created, not lambasting someone for calling for further separations when those further separations make perfect sense.

"One Legacy Armor"?

Doesn’t change the fact that HoM weapons are already finding their way into the rest of the game.

Can you back that up with an example?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lord_Taeres%27s_Shadow

That is not a HOM skin. Do you have a REAL example?

Bro, read that page, the notes. That is a NEW skin just added you get from champs. IT IS THE SAME MODEL AS THE EXCLUSIVE HOM FELLBLADE.

Everyone with HoM realized this as soon as anet made the blog post about new champ loot. This skin was featured on the blog post and everyone cried foul. So sad.

Fellblade is a Greatsword skin. That skin is on a one-handed sword.

Even if the skins are similar, If I were to use both on a warrior, I would only be seeing the one-handed sword while moving from fight to fight.

Your argument has merit when skins are for the same type of weapon. But this is not one of those cases.

Nice to see familiar faces again.

Yeah…you guys tried that before, and we still wiped you both :P

I use this build http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fYMQNAV4alcmCNnay1E+5EB3DjC1nq94m2MmdFuKA;TkAqcMBJCyqjLHpOLMGMsDB

-Armor, jewels and Weapons -> Precision/Vitality/Healing Power (Magi)
Foods: Master Maintanence Oil, Omnomberry Compote

it’s a bit strange, but is a really great build to use in a zerg.

You run a Venom build, but don’t use the elite Venom that gives allies around you the ability to stunlock a foe, or stun multiple foes.

Smells like fail.

How to correctly use HGH P/P condi in PVP

in Engineer

Posted by: BladeBraverBureba.1052

BladeBraverBureba.1052

Hi guys. I recently found a build in this forum and while I understand the principle of getting some stacks of might with HGH and elixirs and then using pistols to put conditions, I’m not so sure about the nades. I mean, is there a rotation like static shot, blowtorch, change to nades, fire nade, nade barrage? Or are the nades there for certain situations?

Also when should I drink the elixirs? I mean I could drink all elixirs at the beginning but then they would be on CD. But if I dont drink them or toss them to save them, then I wont have might… so any enlightment on how exactly you run this build would be appreciated.

Here is the build:

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqalspSXnvSiF17ICoC5loHPGlNZfewWPIEC;ToAAzCpo+y8l4LbRuvkFN8YuA

Thank you very much.

I don’t even use nades unless I’m attacking siege on a wall in WvW. Beyond that, I don’t think there’s any specific rotation. Just play smart and use skills and elixirs as needed.

Elixir U sometimes fails to activate

Title. Using Elixir U sometimes produces no quickness and no debuff, while the skill goes on full cooldown.

I want to believe it’s something logical, like the skill still trying to call the Quickening Zephyr debuff and failing, but it’s pretty annoying regardless.

BladeBraverBureba.1052

I personally do hope Anet changes the mesmer mechanic (I have a mesmer myself that I WvW with).

Think about it – Anet created at variety of siege weapons that cost money. Anet also created a variety of ways to fortify keeps, which take both money and karma. Taking keeps this way takes time. Upgrading keeps takes time.

With having a simple way for one or two people to help a massive group of people to literally walk past all these things makes zero sense.

Agreed. Anet will have to do something besides increase cooldown on it. Perhaps limiting the number of times the portal can transfer players before disappearing. Portal gets, say, 10 “stacks”, each use removes a stack, portal disappears when all stacks are gone.

TC vs. CD vs. FA

BladeBraverBureba.1052

Wow…thread explosion.

So let me catch up…….people are upset that an event held in an open world pvp zone was disturbed? That’s like complaining about being killed in the JP – pvp happens. Is it unfortunate? sure..would I have done it…no…..but I dont think I would be at all surprised….this is an mmo after all. People paid for the game and as long as they are behaving in accordance with the CoC, they can do whatever they want. /shrug.

….and then the resulting action of the apparently “morally superior” TC/CD participants is to hold an entire population (FA) responsable for the actions of small minority of the server…….definitely taking the mature high road there (again outcome doesn’t surprise me…people often hold large groups responsible for the actions of a few – usually people frown on this behavior but whatever….we’re the F4 server apparently so I defer to your maturity)

On the bright side if nothing else, this week has just shown that its just TC themselves holding you back from getting to T2/T1….you have a very large population when motivated, get em all out more consistently, and get em effective and you’re there.

As to all the wvw chest thumping…..take it up in tPvP match…..and settle it like dolyaks! :P

PS….its a video game.

Pretty sure CD is beating FA as well. It’s not just their inability to beat TC that’s holding them back. If they were clearly T2 material, they would at least be second. Instead, they’re dead last and holding all of one tower as I type, across ALL maps, and earning a grand total of 10 points each tally.

By the way, as I type this, we’re on the verge of taking the FA keep in EB again. And CD owns half of FA’s EB territory.

Where are those superior tactics, and why aren’t they saving you?

TC vs. CD vs. FA

in WvW

Posted by: BladeBraverBureba.1052

BladeBraverBureba.1052

Look, good people of CD. We need to attack TC united because they’ll STOMP US and take your keep in EB and our boarderland like they did today. The solution is to work against the winning server so that one of us can win. It’s that simple.

TC rating in tier 3 = 10/10
FA rating in tier 3 = 7/10
CD rating in tier 3 = 7/10

CD + FA > TC or TC > FA and TC > CD

Simple math folks. Simple math.

That’s right, appeal to the enemy of your enemy because you can’t beat either your enemy, nor the enemy of your enemy that you’re appealing to.

It’s fairly ironic that you complain about TC zerging, when CD does pretty much the same thing, and at very predictable times of the day. So it’s not cool when we do it, cause you can’t seem to stop us, but cool when they do it, even though you can’t seem to stop them either.

Gotcha.

Dual Axe Crit/Dual Sword/ Dual Sword and axe.

in Warrior

Posted by: BladeBraverBureba.1052

BladeBraverBureba.1052

Sword/Axe is probably the least effective, since it splits your focus between condition-based sword and power/crit reliant axe.

Sword/Sword is doable, but not very effective, since any condition removal negates all stacks of bleed, and warriors don’t really have any conditions to cover the bleed.

General question, since this thread has been completely derailed anyways: Regarding Mace + Shield as “viable”, can someone explain the main appeal of Shield in the offhand over, say, another Mace? I would think a ranged, multiple-target 2-second knockdown (Mace 5) would be more desirable than a close-range, single-target 1-second stun (Shield 4).

Why Shield? Because of the extra armor? Or what am I missing?

Stopped playing guardian in WWW. This is why

in Guardian

BladeBraverBureba.1052

Personally, as a Guardian I only have trouble escaping if I am outplayed.
I run Scepter and Hammer, don’t usually switch to anything else, ever.

H3 has a bind, though you need to be facing your enemy to use it. It’s helpful if you can see the need to escape early.
H5 is a wall that your enemies will have to run around if they want to chase you.
Scepter 3 is a bind that you can cast on the move as long as you have line of sight. I can’t count the number of times I have use auto target while trucking away from a group and used Scepter 3 on an invader that I can’t even see on my screen.
Scepter 4 is a blind, can’t remember if I am able to cast this behind me like S3, but a miss is a miss.

This is where things get fun, if you have scepter you have 5-6 aegises at your disposal. Your virtue of courage passive blocks one attack. Pop S5, blocks the next three incoming attacks (within the time limit of course). “Retreat” ulility skill gives you another Aegis plus a speed boost. Finally you have the virtue active which blocks ANOTHER attack. Dont’ forget the Elite “renewed focus” which grants you 3 seconds of invulerability on the move, and recharges your virtues giving you ANOTHER 1-2 aegis.

For utility slots, slot in “Stand Your ground” which gives you five seconds of stability, and “Save Yourselves” which grants you a butt ton of boons and is also a stun breaker.

All this plus Virtue of Resolve and Signet of Resolve for healing, I personally rarely have no problem escaping.

Edit: Sure, I don’t do much damage, but the Guardian doesn’t do enough burst damage anyhow to spec for damage in WvW IMO. I usually make my focus following groups of people around, then lock down enemies and let the spike damage/DPSers take them down.

Scepter has no 4 and 5. What offhand are you using?

dunno why you are so in love with mathematics, as you pointed out.. Iam not.

Math doesn’t lie. Perception does.

This conversation all started with your quote:

And I hardly doubt you do much more damage with 80% crit compared to 34%, it is way more efficient to improve other stats

… which is completely false because your perception is lying to you. 34% critical rate is no where near the mathematical ideal critical rate for a level 80 with the exception of two talents that breaks the mold, Warrior’s Unsuspecting Foe and Thief’s Hidden Killer traits (Sigil of Intelligence as well) but that is for a different discussion/thread.

^^^ G’luck with the Sandy clean up

Well, with 34% being too low, and 80% being “too high”, I end up with 55% using this build. Seems to be close to the middle of the two extremes. So is this “ideal”? If not, what crit chance would be, exactly?

Its warrior hate in general. That combo is just a perfect point to use. Its funny the only folks that think a warrior is not just sickingly OP are the warriors. They see a problem with thieves BS and invis but don’t see the prob with there virtual insta kill every 60 sec problem. A warrior can tear off my 28K necro HP’s in a mere few seconds. After doing Wv WvW for a few weeks it was enought for me to abandon my other chars and make a war. After playing a war now, all I can say is everything I thought was true. I get to see it first hand every time I log in and play. Its a joke and I almost feel guilty.

I remember when instakilling every 20 seconds was too slow to make assassins viable.
