Hello all. I’m by far not a new player. Ive played since launched but I only really played Engie. As of Daredevil Ive been interested in theif and I want to play the profession more. I played in unranked sPvP and I had a blast as a roamer doing assist kills on points and traversing the map. Trying ranked its just completely different.

It goes without saying I have very little knowledge on playing theif so I was wondering what is it that is making thief ‘bad’ now in pvp.

As far as i remember Stealth was very powerful before, and since all of the anti stealth other updates did that rip away all that theif had to offer?

Is it so bad to for once be a tanky engie than doesnt hit like i have straw as a weapon? I understand nerfing it to a degree, but 60? It might as well not even be a grandmaster anymore.

I finally JUST settled on a build and now I have to find something else. hgh i didnt care too much about but man…AA didnt need that bad of a nerf imo

Starting to realize that. I usually like to play a tanks engineer. With scrapper now I can. I like to use the condo gyro for obvious reasons aand the added weakness time helps a lot.

I actually like them. But it’s too risky to go full gyro for the fact that they have no stun break. I believe at least the bulwark should stun break.

Why do I like the gyros? The use of their toolbelt fields. In conjunction with scrapper adept 2(on phone ATM) and a bulky set like what I use, u can apply a lot of weakness and vuln someone to max. I run it with soldiers and might sigils to keep damage and tankiness. The build would be great had one of the gyros given stunbreak. I use the condo gyro bulwark and spinning gyro. That’s 2reflects 2 static fields. A poison field a leap 2 whirl finishers. I apply slot of stuns and dazed and tacking on weakness with vuln all the while gaining might on top of my 2.3k power. I’ll post my build later but what do u guys think about gyros needing that stunbreak or explosion trait synergy to boost viability and usefulness?

The rune is rune of the scrapper. But the method is to us the combo fields to apply weakness vuln and might.

Stronghold Change List 7/10

After only playing Stronghold all weekend, I will say I definitely enjoy it. It allows inconsequential use of mobility options on engie like rocket boots and elixir 4 in order to get around and more importantly return to a neutral standpoint in battle.

In regards to some things i found troublesome is that Archers are still not very useful in my opinion. Everything the archers can do, most players split up and take care of much faster. My solution is to allow summoning archers to be used more defensively than offensive. Having some npcs that can still slow down the enemy even when the gates go down and guards, Archers on the defending side can still be of use.

I think it’d be broken considering Explosives cause Vuln and there would be another bleed stack as well =\ alot procs come from explosives

Disclaimer: I like Anet and the developers for their hard work and attempts to talk to the community to improve their game. I understand their hard work and that game developing will come with some glitches and bugs that will be unexpected etc. Also feel free to correct me on some points as I am a returning player after a break I took August last year to finish school

Moving forward I would like to push a live stream conversation about the problems of each class, but at the moment I of course want to focus engie for a number of reasons. Weird idea i know, but I figure its worth discusing if not a more personal way of connecting with us on the problems we’re having since anet is typically busy with HoT etc.

1. This class has had, pretty much, the most bugs throughout the skill/trait list and thus we are never playing to the best we can and get the short end of the stick that way. I understand engie is, if not, THE most versatile and complicated class with all of its kits that have all these skills that need to work together cohesively. Im sure ever engie main plays engie for that reason. For that reason, all the bugs can be really frustrating.

2. It feels as though the devs have a great Idea for kit and then only half apply it. For instance the integration with Alchemy line, Elixirs, and the Elixir Gun. The Gun itself is an powered on Elixirs and it would make alot of sense if the whole kit benefited from the tree if not only the elixir traits. Elixir X, I dont think should be changed to something more unique and not copy/pasta of other elites.

3. Gadgets, excluding A.E.D and Goggles, are still useless in almost every build. With the nerf to swiftness + rocketboots, I’m much less likely to run them. I’ve never use Battering Ram, Mines are STILL barely useful(and thats mostly just the slow startup times and its hard to clip imo) The trait lines barely even help that problem. Shouldnt Kinetic Battery is great, but thats got some odd bugs too. (SN: I still dont know why battering ram is even a skill for us. A much better, sensible gadget could go there.)

4. Turrets. They already die so easily, why are the cooldowns not only high, but there are no traits to reduce cooldown for them. Unfortunately Last time turrets were popular people complained because they were used in our bunker kb build and of course that died. (Maybe this isnt a good point, but when turrets are touched its either really good or really bad) I think that the KB Turret build was fine. I think the meta was just full of Glass and burst and noone wanted to deal with a build that wasnt glass burst down.

5.Engie community is one of the best Ive seen in any game ive played and the feedback you guys would get could be more immediate. The guys/girls in this forum are great, and know a lot more than me of course. Having a stream to talk with us would be a much more intuitive experience.

6. We just want our class to work and not have to spec nades most of the time for damage.(that second part is more or less from my observations).

I hope that our Elite Specialization will make sense of most of the questionable changes and I would also like to see the bugs fixed too lol.

bombs in a condi build can be strong too. I played a lot with teldo build with bomb and toolkit, ( also koroshi in wvw have a similar build ) . It is only a matter to get used to timing of bombs in my opinion

Makes sense. I’ll give bombs a try in a condi build.

Also would like to note that i prefer to play a bunker role in pvp, but it seems harder and harder with each balance patch.

Mortar is still good (fields are awesome tbh) and bomb kits is strong as well. I still got runes of strength + HGH on engie that works really nice.

For a change I don’t play with nades now (except underwater since often you get 4(!) grenades).

Still skeptical on bombs. They dont help well on ranged opponents. I dont think they do well to burst down either. For example if a War comes ins for burst or a thief. The damage it does to them wouldnt make them stop their burst. Ive seen alot of people take the damage not even thinking of healing because they thought I’d die.( I had my AED+EMR so they were pretty salty afterwards) but you get my point right? Is there a certain way bombs should be handled?

Basic SD power builds don’t use nades if made barrage wasnt bugged right now you’d prob dish out more raw damage with rifle turret, toolkit and mines/utility goggles when traited to SD.

Even when it’s fixed. I know S/d isnt bad, but when barrage is fixed, it wont change the damage that s/d does vs the Others.

When I heard specializations were coming and traits would be reworked I was excited that maybe I can make a real bunker build or make use of other kits or gadgets ive never used.
So far honestly nades are still the main damage dealer and I cant really support condi builds because of how ridiculous condi is across the board.

When viewing the traits the gadgets are mostly non-existent. Nades got the most love out of the explosions tree. Out of all the support traits and inventions, why are they so bad? The meta is based off of heavy spike damage and even if fully invested in support and sustain 2v1 you are still likely to die without getting a chance to do much. Thats more damage than our traits can deal with. EMR+AED barely holds up with that.

So I ask u guys because Im back from a long break. Is it just me being rusty or are nades really our only real damage option STILL?

Is there a possibility to give Bunkers some points to look forward to when in a game. some games I will only get 10 points by capping the first point and never getting off of it. didnt chase anyone for a kill because thats not my job, my team won by a landslide. Anyway it was just a thought that crossed my mind that maybe the devs can look into seeing as they do have people reading these.

I have a similar build. I actually tried no kits. All turrets and it works pretty well. Rocket Net and Thumper. Each of those boons can be substantial if you actually leave them out. surprisingly they do not die fast. When the crate drops alot of people just turn away. Ive had Alot of success with the turrets. My build is mainly Tank and and cc.
Warriors are are really the only class ive found it difficult to deal with.

Not sure if this topic has been made before, if so im sorry. I just had a thought that maybe if Anet changed up the ‘Rifle’ name, called it shotgun(because thats what it really acts like) and give engie the option of an actual Rifle, including Headshots(that can cause daze) Poison shot, or even a snipe shot that knocks down the target at close range,but does more damage at a further range. just throwing out general ideas, not really fleshed out of course , just wanted to guage the rest of the communities opinion on this.

If my assumptions of ‘balancing’ are correct, then making more skills and utilities viable, but not over powered would be the ultimate goal, making more build diversity and keeping fairness.

From my perspective, I would say
Engineer-Like I’m sure it’s been said before and goes really without saying that our Turrets are practically non existent. They have a short life span in battle and dont make anything worth while happen if destroyed.
Too many traits cost so much and do so little, some do nothing to really benefit the class such as Autodefense Bomb Dispenser being a grandmaster power trait when we already have cloaking device, protection injection, protective shield on early traits. Something that would benefit bombs or nades could go there.
Engineer needs attention Its turrets but also its Gadgets, they’re hardly used and mainly because they’re arent many traits to benefit with them. Battering Ram and Mines have little to no use and hardly any traits to help with that.(especially battering ram it could be scratched and noone would probably miss it)
Lastly I think that Weapon variety lacks quite abit with there only being 3. and combination of 3.

Warrior-doenst need a buff balance really, but a better balance of weapon choice. When almost every warrior in the Game is Hambow theres a problem with the rest of the class imo

Ranger- I think rangers need more trait help with sword/dagger options

IMO AED works best with a Glass Cannon Build. Cleansing conditions and all that is kinda irrelevant when youre job is to get the kill as fast as possible. In my build no other heal would work. Because I get damaged pretty badly. When timed right(80% of the time) i get 12k of my 19k health and i get more time to finish the job which is usually almost done anyway. Thats my experience with it.
Also Tool belt works wonders in the glass rifle build I run when i get in their face.

I can honestly say and believe that the devs either do not like the engineer profession or just dont have a clear goal as to what to do with it.

To keep this relatively short and simple, I attempted to play another class in spvp. Warrior. Just building in the trait line in my head im thinking “What is all this free junk?”
“If i had half of this stuff on engie i could do so much more”…“Isnt this 20pt more on Engie?” likewise on some other class traits like rangers and guardian.

To me it looks like alot of love went into making a warrior and alot of leftovers went to the stepchild engineer. Lol. Ex. Elixir X says in a nutshell, “Use Ele elite, or Warrior elite.”
Mortar is just a wast of time and really goes without saying imo. Our turrets are far from really being usable viably and yet we are target for immobilize nerfs when warriors can keep us locked in place or knock us around just because we lack stability and stun breakers recharge so slowly. Maybe its just me, but I think engie needs some TLC from the devs. Just doesnt look like they care to me. Not saying they done, just stating what i see.

Apparently its the bomb build like the one i run that apparently is OP. Its funny because I hear all the time while im playing Bunker engi sucks/isnt viable/ etc then i see stuff like the OP. I honestly made this build because its the most fun i have with Engie considering it Does take the most thought and effort to play. And no i dont mean against bad players. Being in a 2v1 with good players is tough and takes thought and skill. MAybe If Anet gave Engie’s a clue about what our core purpose is, we could help make suggestions to get there because as of this point. Engies are either Too powerful(and underplayed) Too weak(still underplayed) or Too tanky(Still underplayed) Only okay as a profession(underplayed). Atm only like 2 builds are even viable and its sad because nothing else works in conjunction with eachother. I made a bunker to be different(apparently that didnt last long)

I run an annoying bunker build without AR. I do so well because of the practice and timing and skill it actually takes to run the build. Like Rayn said. A Smart player can 2v1 my build and I die reasonably fast.
My only gripe about threads like this is that hardly any engie build is as viable or even as valued as othe classes’ builds. I shouldnt be forced by meta to make a damage build if i dont want to. Bunker engie is fun and the way Anet nerfs things it wont be a simple nerf, Its gonna hurt the whole build if they actually consider it.
I understand there are few engies that may bomb spam, but those guys usually die 3v1.
To use this build with skill takes patience/practice/timing. Utilizing Smoke bomb, Glue bomb and static shot to keep damage off of you from usually any range. Using Elixir bomb as a backup heal and blast finish for retaliation etc. None of anything I do is, button mashing or easy. It takes skill and its annoying that this “OP” build is from the least played class in the game…Real Op =\

Sadness. I can never keep a build. Not even the ones that ARNT Viable.. My Engie doesnt even use AR and I still know how to not die for about 5 matches. Doesnt mean we win those.

If I dont want to build a Damage build I shouldnt be forced to by the meta and whining players. Bunker Engie is the most fun and took me alot of time to really start to master this build without AR(because lets be honest, its pretty swole and might just get hit pretty soon anyway) Sigh……I hope this hate wasnt because of me. =\ not being conceited but i get alot of hate ingame.

The only things i really cant understand why any bunker engi would trait cloacking device. Cloacking device is like an anti bunker trait while elite supplies or stabilized armor would be really usefull traits instead.

Overall I do agree that Engineer make dang good bunkers, Guardians are needed but only until next patch… then we get AoE stability via Elixir B.

I would suggest a couple of trait swaps, I also run the 10/0/30/20/10 setup but instead of Protective Shield ill run Stabilized Armor and instead of Self-Regulating Defense ill take either Protection Injection or Invigorating Speed

Having 53% damage protection while stunned can save your life in a lot of situations. And having perma vigor can make a good engi dang near immortal.

Not saying your setup is in any way wrong, that’s just how i run it lol

Thats a Good idea. The reason I use Self regulating Defenses is to act with Automated Medical Response. At 25% Ill be invulnerable(after patch stealth i believe) for 5 seconds and my heal would be automatically available to me. Its for pinch situations. Though I see what you mean. Id probably be in that situation alot less with more defenses. Ill definitely try those swaps out and see how much it helps me out.

There’s a difference between living forever and being a bunker. I’d say Engineers are better at sustaining forever. What’s preventing bunker Engineers from fulfilling the bunker role, over a guardian, is the fact that they have little to no stability. If you’re standing on point, you’re eating every CC spam under the sun, and versus many comps, you won’t get to play the game ever. You really need a Guardian for AoE stability – your team’s stomping and reviving power simply would not be there, otherwise.

That makes sense. Stability is much tougher to obtain without having something of little use on my utilities. I cant lie, it would keep my heart from dropping every time a Stun warrior starts hammering away at me and my stunbreaker is on cooldown.

Why not toolkit instead rocket boots?

Well as stated before, stability IS a problem to obtain, so I cant just attempt to Bunk and nothing else. In many situations where I’ve attracted the whole team to a point, I use the heal turret combo field and rocket boot out of there and heal as I escape to cap another node.
In a way I end up having to Live over giving up free 5points and cap another point. All the while using Glue bomb to keep people off of my while I make my escape.
So While i cant get stability I replace with mobility. I do Have to get off of the Point at times using Rocketboots and EG’s number 4. As long as im moving i survive longer and attract more attention. By the time I get back on the Point im using Big Ol Bomb and Magnetic shield to get them off.

Dont know if that clarified enough or if it was too much, but I just wanted to cover all reason why I use it so that It can be compared with reasons others use Tool Kit.

Well This is more of a discussion on how valuable Bunkers are. Specifically, of course, Engies.
I was told I was the best Bunker ever today. I know im not the best, but for someone to say so to me I feel really accomplished. I usually feel as though I am such an important piece to my team. I can tell when autobalance sometimes throws me on the other team.

Surviving 2/3 Vs 1 holding a point is a big difference maker. From my experience, I think Engies make better Bunkers than guardians. Though I understand why guardians are considered better at it, I still think that a Highly skilled Engie bunker can out bunk a guardian. =\ What do you guys think?

Ive been pretty successful with this build surviving Heartseeker Thief with the Elite(the two extra theives) and 1 more enemy on a node by the skin of my teeth. Any way to help this build so that I can better prepare for those type of surprise attacks?

Also teams need to figure out that sometimes kiting away from your bunker isn’t always that smart since they are the ones pumping out the AOE heals… The more you know.

Rocket Boots is a MUST in my opinion:

1) Great as a gap closer
2) Great range maker
3) great for combos
4) nice burning from toolbelt

I currently run with Flamethrower, Rocket boots and currently giving Flame Turret a try as i am struggling to find a suitable 3rd utility

Lol Slick shoes and make them Cry. Also has a stun breaker which is also handy lol.

Doesnt mean, to me, that it should go. It should be more punishable if it fails. ie: Shield block/blind miss/dodge. maybe make them fall down or pull all skills on cooldown idc but Dont get rid of it. It changes too much in the game.

Honestly most people still use HGH from what I noticed. I personally Use bunker builds.
Bomb heal. Ive tried many variations, but I’ve ended up at
30/0/30/0/10 || P/S Heal Turret || Nades/Slick Shoes/Bombs

From my experience Its got less survival skills, it has better damage that will make people back away. Healing is my main priority incase my stunbreak is gone and Ive taken damage I use combo field and healing sigil in order to heal a decent amount to keep alive. I wish I could go Into full detail, but I’m just giving you an idea of some of the alternate builds i think work.

I actually Run a Bunker Engineer. Brooke Allana and In no way are they impossible to kill. Even in my own build I only have one stun breaker. Engies can barely get stability either.
To be honest, with my build I dont care about thieves. I havent played many 1v1 that could kill me. 2 or 3 I have trouble. My biggest issues have been Stun Warriors and dps Guardians.
30/0/30/0/10 To be honest It works better than I thought It would. Bunking without damage doesnt make people back away from my experience so a litte damage helps. But IN NO WAY do they need a nerf. Engies dont even have much working(skills/traits/boons) maybe 2 or 3 viable build types and slight altercations to those builds. If you cant kill one Engie with five people you cant be doing something right. Burst damage HURTS. Or they just out played you guys. Takes so much thinking to play engie so please respect the struggle most of us go through just to stay competitive and not repetitive.

It is really, to me, still the more creative in potential than the other classes and has the hardest learning curve to understand. The variety of possibilities just does it all for me. No matter the bugs, gimpy rng on elixirs, There are amazing qualities when going into a fight with a pistol, shield Bomb kit, Rocket Boots, and an Elixir gun against up to 3 people and watch them squirm to kill you in pvp. Its amazing that I can have the title Combat healer and It really means something. Engineer Is, to me, the best class and I hope that the developers can be a bit more creative when it comes to improving this class, especially with kits. Honestly, Engineers should have some extravegant weird inventions that should make us initially go, wtheck does this do… and then go. YES!!! AMAZING!!!!(like everyone did running around with the Flamethrower for the first time) Thats why I love engie.

Thats good to hear from the rest of the community as I’ve only really taken my Engie to 80. Since launch its really the only class that I care about so I dont know other class traits, just skills. I constantly see Thieves Using heartseeker as if their life depended on it.

To Op. The reason i love the engie and the community is because we love this class regardless of the issues(As much as we want them resolved. we play it.) Engie is the only class I have fun playing. So I struggled until I found a build that works for me and is fun to play. Its not easy AT ALL. I also agree with the trait lines. They’re aweful imo. Our grand master traits are horrible and our small traits arent worth anything much from adept up. Its frustrating and takes alot of time and patience.

Engie a Button Mash Profession?

I hear all too often from players in pvp tell me my Engie is a button mash class and then think that they know the profession well enough to state it. Especially with the build that I run.
Bomb Heal/Rocket Boots/EG
10/0/30/20/10
The quick thinking it takes to survive a 4 v 1 with mesmers, thieves and warriors all out to stun and kill me is WAY more to think about than any other build IVE SEEN displayed out there. Timing combo finishers for heals, keeping regen up, and knowing when to escape is all too important to just call a button mashing. I can assure anyone that If you dont know this build or how to work it you will die in 3 or 4 v1 sometimes even 2 v 1.

Now my build, I use it to buy time for runners to come and assist me, If i cant get the kill on my own I just keep healing and survive. Its What the build does.. In a 5v5 tourny match I was holding a point when I saw a thief on his way. Pulled out my heal turret and I got ready. myteam was at about 480 so he just sat away from the point and just watched, I waved showing him I can see him…and he goes and calls engie a button mash or whatever. Im not used to being remotely good at any pvp until I played gw2 engie, so is this how people act when you’re better than them or have a good build. I refuse to call this build button mash build. what do you guys think? Have the saem been said to any of you?
I feel like if this was such an easy button mash class It wouldnt be so rarely played in tourny.

Speculating new engie skills

New skills huh? I would hope that would mean on weapons too? Either way. Seeing as thats a low chance ill go with stating the kits and utilities Id like.

1 Robot. or a turret that follows you. For example, Asura golems(the ones that fly/float). The Robot/Turret could move around and such like that.

1. Nade launcher- I originally saw nades and bombs doin things more unique dealing with elixirs, so seeing what we have now, a Kit that shoots Grenades with elixir based chemicals in them would seem pretty cool. If not for example(just off the top of my head) Make a new condition like Oiled/Slippery etc. and it makes other characters slide a bit when they move and throw them off or cause them to be unable to swap weapons due to not being able to grip it well…watever lol rambling next

2: Shock Gauntlets – now hear me out on this one. This would give engies a new flavor. If done right i think it can fit. Have gauntlets that have Close range(thief dagger range)
Have as skill that lunges you to the enemy, stun them or hit the ground and aoe knock back. Have a similar pulse shield like shield off hand but no combo. Basically have it as a CC type of thing. Close range knockbacks and maybe a fair burst move. traits that up def when endurance is low would be useable. maybe even a rapid punch that does low damage but stuns? Idk i think Anet would better balance out what my mind wants for Engies lol(BROKE jkjkjk) I just want other builds to be viable

3: Hookline- mainly some batman like Hook lines. i know we have speedy kits but it would be pretty fun for mobility if you dont want speedy kits trait.

An Elite….dont care how you do it Anet…but GIVE ENGIES ANOTHER DECENT ELITE lol no more RNG.

Thanks for the tips guys. I suppose a bit of trait rearranging is in order. Was hoping sharpnel counted the pistol explosion but i suppose not. Ill try something all of you have mentioned and come back with the results. thanks again.

Not sure if many of you remember a few weeks back I wsa having frustrations understanding engineer for sPvP. Im Glad to inform all that helped that the advice given was useful in I have made a build(not sure if unique or not) that works for my play style.

20 Explosives – Sharpnel, Incendiary Powder
30 Firearms – Precise Sights, Rifled Barrels, Coated Bullets

10 Alchemy – Blood Injections
10 Tools – Speedy Kits(everyone loves speedy kits)

IGN: Tewlla/ Asura

This build is made of course around CD. I use Elixir Gun/ Slick Shoes/Flamethrower as my Utility skills. On that know I should say now that I really only have these two for Belt skills. Stun breaker on EG and Extra Burn damage to flood in. I only use the Flamethower If im accompanied by someone to do some burst damage with Flame Blast and CC around a Point with people. On the other hand I use Elixir gun when needed mostly for a heal aoe and the Fumigate. Again this is usually while accompanied. Slicks Shoes is to knock down people to land some easy hits in and let the ticks keep going then Glue gun afterwards. In case of emergency Use the Supers Speed tool belt skill and medkits to heal and haul.(no point and giving the other team another 5 points)
The build isnt a bunker, but if finagled right you can staay on a point for some time. (air bunker and napalm) I usually Roam with constant superspeed and cap points that need to be caped(superspeed boots are wonderful to get out of battle and to the next point (Though im not sure if it was intended. tooltip says Run at double speed instead of grant swiftness with is 33% so…..seems legit).

I found myself In MUCH better match ups against heavy armor professions, Necros and Mesmers are still a pain in the butt to take down, ususally need company,. Against other Engies i have a 50/50 ratio. Elementalist are a problem burstwise so thats a haul moment for me personally if they use dagger dagger.
Cant think of anything else that i may need to cover so Id love some feed back or ideas. Again thnks for all the help. The Engie community is so well bonded haha.

What kind of build are you looking for?

Your opening statement is about it being more difficult to PVP successfully on Engi than others….and this is true, initially. Engineer has a higher skill floor and ceiling. It’s harder to learn initially and harder to master than most…but once done, your power in PVP should feel impressive – not the opposite. I play my Warrior more now lately bc its a new challenge to work on, succeeding with the Engineer in PVP at this point is pretty easy 95% of fights.

I use a 3 kit P/P condi build that I believe is different than normal bc I don’t really see anyone else running it, but you may not necessarily want a P/P, Heal turret, FT, TK, EG build. What style are you looking for? Which kits do you like to play with, if any? Rifle? P/P or P/S?

Well I was looking all over the place. mostly a tanky point holder. So i usually spec into toughness/ explosives and use bombs. Though now im finding it much easier to run the Tool Kit/Slick shoes/Bomb kit with P/P Condition. Its not easy to run but speedy kits gets me where i need to be and out. What i WANT to do is incorporate Rocket boots instead of Slick shoes but im finding it trouble some as the cool down is long and i have to spec into Speedy Gadgets as well.

I think there’s a difference between building a character and playing a character.

I have an 80 war, ele, and engineer. The engineer is hard to build, but pretty easy to play with practice. The ele is easier to build, but is hard to play well (very rewarding if you do). The warrior is straight-forwarded to build, with a range of builds that are easy to difficult to play in practice. The first two are generally self-sufficient if you want them to be…warriors seem to thrive in groups.

I know exactly what you mean. I realized that another piece to my puzzle was not only making the build but figuring out the right way to play the build. What roles it will play when it comes to either being a a supporter, 1v1, or just works better in a group. That itself can be tricky.

True hadent thought about it in that aspect when it comes to the teams that is. I respect anet for putting in the effort. I suppose it will just take some time and patience. I understand its not an easy job. As for usefulness with skills, I feel as though certain skills should be stun breakers over others. Rocket Boots>Analyze/Elixir U. Dont get me wrong Analyze is useful as a stun breaker, but with burst attacks usually following the Stun, wouldnt something that gives you spacing away from such moves be more useful?

EDIT: Also I noticed something, not sure if it is intentional or something but I have to Engies. One lvl 80 Human- Brooke Allana, one lvl 21 Asura – Tewlla. My base HP on Brooke is like 24k, no traits and basic starter pvp gear. Tewla has 14k and usually the same spec. Mind you this is w/o traits. Did I miss something in one of the updates?

I agree with you all. I feel like the devs( if not already) should have a specific team to work on each individual class. I know they read the forums. Topics like this can help Them see exactly how we are struggling in sPvP in comparison to the other classes. Granted we are not asking for anything OP, more so what Engineer needs in my opinion is Consistency and synergy across the traits, and give the Kits some more Kick. because I agree. Things that engies need are Condition removers, Stun Breakers and other essentials that help you to survive in pvp, but we are using those slots up to make up for our weapon swapping not being there. Not to mention two completely useless Elites so Supply crate is basically a staple.

Does it not seem as though being an efficient engineer in PvP takes alot of extra effort in comparison to the other classes?

I am a player who’s played since launch and had a break. I picked the game back up before the reccent patch to the classes. Engineer is still by far my favorite, but it seems like its skills are not as well as a variety as one would hope.

I know I have a difficulty stating my point so let me try to explain it in another way if it helps. Engineers have MANY different options and builds to try, I know. I have tried so many. It just seems that, still our trait system is scattered in all the wrong places which makes alot of possible builds a pain to make. Also alot of the Slot skills seem to be obsolete.
I understand that the rocket boots have been revamped and i love it, but it still seems like it still doesn’t fit it a proper build. Wouldn’t it make sense that it breaks stuns, which is essential. Another example being Throw mine.. I have never seen this used or have i used it for anything that ended productive.

I understand that there are things that i may be missing or not understanding which is why i came here when I usually do not come to forums, because I want to be enlightened so please, by all means feel free to explain to me.

I want to be able to make a build that I like, and isnt a usual build. its asking for much im sure but i feel if i have a better understanding that i might be able to still do so.

id like to see mines replaced with motion sensor(or contact explosion)
replace batting ram(just dont see ANY point)
make rifle turret toolkit skill daze or stun..(rifle turret may need some more atk speed considering the low dmg/ scale kits dmg with sigils and weapons)
Rocket boots tool kit would be awesome if it fired you forward.
id like a visual effect while under elixir B like an aura of some sort

thats all i can think of for now.
