I play necromancer and I play MM in a personal build. Then I can say to you that I have to play better with that build than with my dps guardian and I have to active more skills and with better timing with that build than with my dps guardian, that have a large amount of block/immunity/blind/movement/clean skills to survive and deal damage.
The necro haven’t a single defensive skill out of DS that is both our defensive and offensive power, making it the worst mechanic ever.
is like if the warrior to active it’s endure pain have to consume 3 bars of adrenaline (why a complete DS can “block” lesser amount of damage than a Endure Pain, expecially in some focused situations, the reason why everyone focus on the necromancer: they’re easy to kill but if you let them the DS they will deal high damage, then focus-kill-bye bye damage). That will make the warrior chose between active it’s adrenaline to attack or spend it all to survive a little longer, exactly like necromancers do.

Then, I’ve dodged a burst, dodged a condi burst and then the enemy is attempting do active another burst skill. How can I protect me? I can active the wurm ang teleport away (if there’s nothing in the line of sight of the wurm that waste my skill) or simply take all the damage, hoping it’s a condition damage to send it back and don’t be insta-killed. or I can chose to sacrifice my LF to obtain more health and survive that boost, losing my damage DS AA source.
And to “force the necros to evolve” what do you do? Explain some mysterious hidden skills and traits that will help us to be more active and obtain finally a sort of defence?

What’s also really annoying is most classes playing condi (especially with trapper rune) have no need for secondary stats like power so they can go full vit/tough/condi. Op dmg, op survival.
Can you post your damage break down you did to determine that it does more damage then a power build with equal vitality and a toughness?
Full Dires gear will always be better than Full Soldier’s gear due to the fact that power scaling is meant to take into account three stats. Condition damage relies only upon one.
In a duelling scenario, any class running dires will always 100% of the time beat a spec running soldiers. Why? Because conditions deal armor ignoring damage and power doesn’t.
So how would a zerg of dire do against a zerg of pvt? Dueling and zerging are apples and oranges. My zerker Mesmer destroys a condition Mesmer without -40% food perhaps you would like to explain that?
There is also the myth that condition builds only need one stat. Precision and condition duration are needed to really make a condi build shine.
You have the choice to either experiment/adapt to the builds that give you trouble or keep parroting the same arguments that have been proven wrong over and over. I will give you an example. I used to have problems with power stun lock builds. Instead of coming to the forums to call foul I spent the time/gold to build my own and play with it so I could learn the counter play. I currently have problems fighting static discharge engineers. I’m saving up the gold right now to re-equip my engineer to play static discharge myself to learn how it works and what it’s weaknesses are.
Wrong, I don’t think it is supposed to be equal, it isn’t equal in PvP, I think that making the rock/paper/scissors far more extreme with food, stones, dire gear, etc, creates moronically bad and boring gameplay.

UNIQUE REWARDING OF BEST PERFORMING PLAYERS!
Currently there is nothing to drive me into sPvP, not even future changes of ladder, why? Because there is simply NOTHING to push my limits for, i rather join king of the hill map for 1v1 or roam WvW solo or find a 2v2 3v3 premade fight, to satisfy my duel spirit.
There is nothing more rewarding to me then, joining WvW and find a person for 1v1 duel and not stomping her/him. It’s amazing to see how during duels people stop by and slowly add up to spectate those duels and participate in them by waiting their turn and respect each other. Currently my trophy’s are 1v1 recordings, but for PvP, trophy would mean an unique weapon/armor skin!
BUT WHAT WOULD DRIVE ME CRAZY TO DIG PVP
Simple answer: unique monthly title of best players of X class.
- Create 9 statues, for each class in PvP lobby
- Each statue represents a player of the month for specific class
- Each statue will show data how did player perform
- Each player gets temporary unique legendary for the next month if she/he got entitled (Just like yellow shirt in cycling)
- Temporary items are removed on the next month if player did not repeat best performance again
- On the end of the year, players that got legendary title of the month at least once, will get unique season legendary item as a reward ( this way we would give out maximum 12*9 = 108 legendary limited weapons each year to those that proven their worthy for their dedication!)
- Every person that got on the top 100 list of specific class, gets a monthly reward as well (something worth fighting for, no soulbound/account bound items)
- All rewards except legendary weapons are trade-able
This are the things i would dig pvp for, unique reward that people deserve not by spamming the games, but playing with honor and playing for the title that not many people own, why? Because you have to earn it!
All formats would sum up on the end of the month
- Stronghold 5v5
- Conquest 5v5
- Death match 1v1 (we need this)
- Death match 2v2 (we need this)
- Death match 5v5 (we need this)
This would apply also for GvGs and keep them 15v15 and best team on ladder gets monthly rewards that we mentioned up there!
People always claim they don’t need anything but brawling to keep them in PvP, but pushing on the way to the top is so much sweeter if you know, that there is trophy to lift on the END!

I love high dmg builds, I don’t really care whether they are power or condi, tho I personally prefer power as it suits my playstyle.
To max my dmg in power build, I am paper and my mistakes are punished very quickly.
To max my dmg in condi build, I need condi dmg and precision (for some builds), even those builds that would do more dmg with precision often ignore this stat or just get a piece or two of rabid, the rest is dire. In such a build (my mes), I have just over 2k condi dmg (no stacks), 24.5k HP (no guard stacks) and 3k armour.
There is very little incentive for condi builds to use any other gear than dire, which also provides high survivability. Having two defensive stats on gear with condi dmg as major stat and so few skills/traits that rely on precision is just a bad idea that resulted into condi tanks that can burst you down in no time.
At this point people usually claim that dire is just subpar to rabid in dmg output. Take your ele with diamond skin to wvw and see how many condi players will do any sort of meaningful direct dmg to you. The reality is that vast majority of condi players use full dire cos they have no need to spec for other stats.
The reason most people use dire is because they have to be able to survive longer drawn out battles so as to allow their conditions to work. Without the extra toughness and vitality a condition build is at a distinct disadvantage to a power build.
Now if a class has different means of mitigating damage (such as stealth) the need to use Dire is much less as they can use stealth instead for that survival. I do not think you will find an even distribution of Dire armor use in condition builds across all professions. It likley the most used overall but some professions/builds can make better use out of Rabid/carrion or sinister.
My own thief build that uses conditions is using Shamans . The reason for this is I am relying more on heals than on added toughness to survive as my biggest enemy as a thief is conditions which toughness does not help with.
As a roaming set in WvW i find this very effective. and the added vitality of the set will be especially welcome when applied fortitude is lost.
Condi burst can kill me in 3-4s, I don’t consider that to be exceptionally long to survive for the condi player to need high both vitality and toughness. The “damage over time” concept was further reduced with the last patch, and as even more conditions stack now, condi builds are bursty.
Depends on what you consider “better use”, for most it’s high dmg and good survivability. Why a non min maxer would go for a bit higher dmg with a lot lower survivability. I didn’t claim all professions use dire to same extend, I said vast majority of players.
Thieves, mesmers, rangers are the most dire only classes, with engies using mixed stats most often.
Nice you play unusual build but how is it relevant to the majority of playerbase? I play zerker staff ele and I roam with it, does that mean all/most eles that roam are zerker staff eles?
You just named your problem. Zerker staff ele in roaming. IMHO living for 3-4 seconds as a zerker staff ele is too long. You should survive only 1-2 seconds if anyone gets the jump on you. Thats what it comes down to running glass, who gets the 1st jump on whom. This is another flaw in the game, you should be pretty much insta downed, not have 3-4 seconds.

Do you have any damage output numbers that a condition build with that food does more damage then a power based build can put out with its optimal food? Until you provide something like that, you are making nothing more then an unfounded claim.
I personally would like to see some factual numbers, to make this debate based on objective facts versus post that are subjective opinions.

The problem isnt conditions. The problem is no one wants to bring condition removal. As a necro main, I purposly go into wvw knowing this fact. In spvp, I completely avoid condition builds because they are simply not up to par. Actually, condition builds frowned upon in spvp because they dont stand up to the majority of power builds.
Removing condition food wold also cripple condition builds. This is another reason why condition builds mostly only work in wvw and not spvp. Condition food is actually mandatory if you want to use any kind of condition builds as they are simply useless without it. This is a big balance issue, and if they remove condition food, they would need to increase duration’s to compensate.

@manveruppd, what do you think necros will run when ele gets nerfed? Also I heard from a popular streamer that the ele balance dev is on vacation right now so thats why it hasn’t been nerfed yet… but I guess it will be soon since vacations can’t last forever.

For the past three nights I have been roaming Solo and generally hitting camps where I find solo roamers. Yes the builds have changed but that not an issue with “roaming being dead”. Obviously a lot depends on the tier you are in and the time at which you are in the game. The busier the servers the less likely it is you find solo roamers.
As to Condi versus power and the tendency of more roamers to be Condi these days is NOT an issue. If you will not and can not adapt your own build to deal with changes than that is not a problem with the game. Quite frankly given the goal of a roamer is to flip or defend camps, to scout and to kill other roamers I think the real idiots are the ones who insist on running builds not suited to this as they condemn those that do as being “brain dead”.
Are there issues with current specs builds from a balance perspective? Yep but again this not related to roaming.

Also agree that the balancing issues with conditions is more about getting it to work in small numbers vs large numbers. In 1on1 conditions are very strong, in 5vs5 looks about balanced, and in 10+ it tends to become a joke, because of all us guardians aoe cleanse

Yes it is. I’m running cele signet and it’s great, counters very well cele ele, condi engi and burn guardian (if You do it properly, watch out for aegis
), has a lot more survivability and can hold points much better than powernecro. I see a lot of ppl on EU running cele signet.
btw if it’s working on tournaments it will work even better in solo q.
Necro builds can counter Condi Engi and Condi guard, hell, condi anything.

Runes of Melandru, Lemongrass Poultry, condi duration reducing traits, condi cleansing traits, active condi cleanse abilities and you can say “what conditions ?”
Are you even aware of stat sets such as Valkarie, Soldiers or Sentinels ? Just to name a couple. I really dont understand what your problem is on your mes or engi as I also play both. On my mes I have around 27k health BEFORE the guard stacks + I cleanse on mirror + cleanse on shatter + I control combat via PU and when I want to disengage. On my Engi I have mechalegs traited, add that to melandru and lemongrass and I am basically COMPLETELY IMMUNE to the condis in that trait alone, add rest of my cleansing for the remainign ones. O and incidentally, I run condi on both and LOL at every single last one fotm spec that I kill cause I run cleanses, they dont, so they just basically fall over.
These arent exactly rocket science or new at this point, you run your mouse over something, read the description and a “lightbulb” goes off in your brain. its not an elitist player skill its a human skill that children develop at a very early age called deductive reasoning. Even if you are a legit new player, you should posses this skill as a human being.
Last but not least, Isee nothing wrong with condis being on par with power damage, indeed, to me they are still grosly underpowered. I would like to see them being as OP vs power damage as power damage was to condis before the condi patch, and I would like that to last 3 years just as that did. That is pretty fair.
