I play on a satellite Internet connection, and regularly have 2,500 ping and I gotta say MM Necromancer is the way to go.
I run all viper armor/weapons and rarely find anything that will just one shot me (unlike my engineer or Ranger) and I am able to solo almost anything.
Can Engi please have more than one viable skill set in PVE? Turrets maybe?

To be clear, my personal wish is for more light armor in the style of medium armor. And more medium armor in the style of light armor.
Almost all of the female light armor in GW2 is a top and skirt combo that often only look good with the same set pieces (talking solely about the chest and pants slots here). Or the bikini style top (which I’m fine with I have, and really like, the Profane armor on my necro).
In a similar vein, almost all of the female medium armor is a trenchcoat and pants which can often be swapped around to get the look you want with some ease. (Assuming the look you want is a trenchcoat.)
What I want is some trenchcoat and pants style light armor, and some bikini and skirt style medium armor.
(Oh and to put this in perspective I’m a male that has worn the exact same outfit for the past 5 years: work pants, henley, leather vest, leather top hat.)

Currently Sorrows Furnace dungeon armor is the only light armor worth wearing (IMO).

So my question is why can’t they release the new legendary weapons with just one precursor that can drop from mobs in HOT, like the original Central Tyrea set. And then add in the full crafting journey bit later? That way they would at least be in the game.

Why would you hate “equality”? Is there’s something wrong with wanting fairness for people, or show support to those that hurt?
Your assuming I hate equality because I don’t agree with you? How blind are you to other points of view?
Furthermore, there is nothing necessarily wrong with “wanting fairness for people” (other than showing an incredible level of naivete about human nature) but this is a fantasy game, not your personal soap box.

I only play PVE and I’ve just started doing fractals as well as HOT and I wanted to work on agony resistance. And I was wondering if I should build Berserker or Viper ascended armor.
I’m mostly useing this build
But even a power buid MM is viable, thoughts? (I love MM builds but would like to try out others at some point)
(Also this is a long term goal, I’m not going to build a full set of ascended armor in a day)

Yeah female light armor “variety” is quite limited. I ended up with just Forgemans because that was the only “armor” that truly looked like armor.

OK soo my question is this.
If I’m playing mostly solo story missions and PVE HOT zones on an internet connection that pings at 1,000 to 2,000 on a good day how much DPS am I really losing by not using the meta builds/Grenade Kit?

Check your ping in the options dialog. Games that have realtime combat (such as GW2) require a low ping in the 50-250ms range. Higher than that and it starts to result in very sluggish responses and feels like you’re playing in tar.
I play with 900 ping all the time and the gameplay still feels fast paced to me. /shrug

It is still there but in a way it is gone as well if you want the benefits from Kit Refinement.
The way I read that is that it is still there, you’ll just have to be careful about putting yourself in combat with the things kit refinement drops.

That is part of it. I was thinking more along the line of the fact that you will be triggering Kit Refinement’s effect so you won’t have it available most of the time on the other hand you just have to give up one kit’s effect. Med Kit, Flamethrower and Tool Kit should also avoid the getting into combat issue.
Oh you mean the internal cooldown right? Thats a good point, if your build needs the Kit refinment aspect that won’t be up all the time. If you take the trait for speedy kits alone then kit refinement is just a bonus. Right?

Doesn’t make sense to have a stationary skill of this kind in gw2 when it’s all about being mobile.

This. The game is about movement, a skill that promotes stationary play is bad.
Look at the HoT trailer that boss fight with the dragon making firewalls, how could you ever use the current Mortar there?

The most important thing when choosing Ascended gear, is determining what kind of stats you want for it, because once you choose them, you cannot change them. So choose which playstyle want first.
And with the upcoming changes….. Your better off crafting mats and waiting for the new meta.
And crying about the price of silk.

True, those from achievements, but it adds up an insignificant amount of gems only, compared to those created using direct cash purchases.
Speaking of wouldn’t the number of gems bought directly far outweigh the amount bought with gold? Has Anet ever released any numbers on this?

Anet don’t make money on people converting gold to gems. You will not be able to buy the expansion with gems.
Indirectly they do.
Someone must have paid for those gems and put them into the system.
Gems are not created out of thin air in the conversion.

The wiki does not make this clear. “The supplies are contained entirely within the exchange.”
But from what I can tell some of the gems and/or Gold are made from thin air.

However, I feel like ALL the fall damage reduction traits in Specializations should be moved into one rune family.
Meh people would still complain about the loss of DPS as most of the stuff people want from runes is in the 6th rune.
Now if it were something you could put on a back item or trinket…..

Really, only one worry of mine remains.
I hope that they remove the minimum range requirement that plagues the current mortar. It’s extremely finnicky when something is closer, it doesn’t really make play more intelligent and it just shuts down the entire kit futher close.
Rather have the barrage spread out more at a short range fire. Plus, grenades are supposedly better at close range anyway, no? So that minimum range seems even more pointless that way.
If the mortar kit -does- get freed of its current problematic situation though? Squees and happiness shall be had.
I suspect that it won’t. I think the plan it to always be swapping kits so you start with the mortar (now a kit and has no real recharge) at long range and when they get close you have to swap to grenades (now short range only).

The rings of fire, the Crystal desert, the far shiverpeaks, were all in GW1. We’ll see them eventually I think. Heart of Thorns is the first step in this direction.
Give them another few years.

Well I think this change makes it clear that Anet does not consider PVP only WvW a valid playstyle. I guess Anet thinks that if you WvW you must also PVE.

2 they would have to make F5 skill for all elite racial skills for Engi.please dont delete racial skills! Even if they are weak, they are fun. I like to summon my golems as an Asura. I like my Charr racials skills.

In another thread a poster commented that it looks like those are the special weapons and armors mentioned as coming with specs. Without being able to mouse over the icons for tooltips, the most we can manage are educated guesses

So I was looking at the screenshots in the Specializations articles and I may have noticed something.
Disclamer I do not/have not ever played an Ele in GW2 so this may be nothing.
But what we know right now is that we can pick 3 of 5 Specializations and that we can then pick an Adept, Master and Grandmaster trait from each, right?
But looking at the screenshot from Specializations Part Two it looks like we may be able to swap out which 3 Adept, Master and Grandmaster traits we have to choose from.
The Adept and Master sections of the “ring” both have an extra trait, and grandmaster section has two “extra” traits.
TBH all this rage may be nothing more than bad UI design.

I try to avoid the forge as much as possible. It makes no sense to me and I have having to look up recipes for everything.
In addition to that it is nothing more than a knock off Horadric Cube, with a terrible RNG attached.

ANet should NOT remove ANY abilities that a player has already unlocked under any circumstances.
As we keep trying to tell you, you have not, and CAN not (currently), unlock these abilities. They aren’t in the game yet.

Meh, this looks like what I’d expect. This new system will be easier to balance, and sell more gems.
In addition to forcing more pvp/pve player interaction.
Unlike EVE Online Guild Wars can be played as a PVE only game, and a lot of people do just that. It looks to me like they are now trying to get more interaction from the PVP only crowd.

I think its more of a case of some traits being completely removed, I.E. they can’t give you something that you didn’t have before.

I like everything but the Hero page. Your hero page although it does put everything at your fingertips is just too much info and too jarring. This may be a placement issue or an artistic one. Probably both.
I like everything else though. Re-the-too boxy comments for the lore page you could do a circle-like map similar to the skill tree from Path of Exile/classic brainstorming map.

I have a set of the first ones that came out (because I diden’t know if they were going to be the only set) But I now have two full sets. I do want to get the mad sci set but its hard to justify.
