In a perfect world you would be correct.
Alas this is GW2.
But do try to make a turret engi a “meta” build. Or how about a P/P thief?
Sure a balance patch will help to push the current meta out the door and bring a new one in, but it won’t happen over night. People will still have to adjust and experiment to figure out what will crush this current meta.
And honestly that’s doable right now. The big complaint is hambow warriors, but something already exists that can essentially hardcounter it: any thief with a pistol in his offhand. Granted, that’s still a huge part of the meta. But if people were more willing to experiment with their builds than just google a cookie cutter build and get mad when they die in hotjoins, and post angry posts on the forums, change really wouldn’t be as infrequent as it is now.
It’s up to the players to change the meta. That isn’t Anets job.
Just sayin’.
All anybody does in these Profession forums anymore is defend their class and attack others, and god forbid if someone comes-a-knockin’ dissing your profession.
You are all a bunch of children and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
One of the reasons why these items are valued thusly is beacuse they were never ment to be permanently available. They keep cycling new merchendise in, old merchendise out, and overall they sell more.
Point taken but you act as if I’m suggesting they bring back these items full time.
I am merely suggesting another limited time window that they will be available, just as a second chance for those who may have missed out.
Would have posted this in the suggestion forum but I couldn’t so…
Since this leg of the Living Story is finally coming to its conclusion, why not bring back some of the items that were relevant to the story (Brahm’s gear/weapons, Rox’s quiver/short bow, Toxic Shoulders/Gloves, ect.) for maybe a week?
I know quite a few people (myself included) that were not able to play during some of these times, and would love a chance to claim some of these items.
Honestly it would be a win for everyone. People get a chance at items they may have been unable to purchase previously, and you, Anet, will get more money thrown at you. And don’t pretend you don’t want that!
I am 726/727 for PoIs and I cannot find the one I am missing. I went through every zone and it says I have 100% completion in all of them. I even went to southsun and noticed I didn’t have a poi in the southern waters, thought maybe that was it. Got it and didn’t get completion.
I just hit 80 on my Elementalist and I have a few questions/musings about the profession. Keep in mind every question I have should be taken from a PvE standpoint. As of now I am not concerned with WvW or PvP.
First of all I’d like to address the incoming nerf to Critical Damage, as it is being allotted into a new stat called Ferocity. If you haven’t heard of this, basically Critical damage will work like precision does, granting Critical damage per X amount of ferocity, however, this bonus will have diminishing returns the more you stack it, making it a bit harder to stack up crit damage.
I’ve long heard that Celestial is far and away one of the best equipment types for Elementalists at the moment. However, given the incoming Crit D changes, the Celestial stat set will likely suffer very badly from these changes, possibly making Celestial no longer viable, being that it had some of every stat, but Berserker-levels of Crit D on EVERY PIECE.
So, at this point, would it be worth it to invest the mountains of gold it will take to craft some celestial armor/weapons/trinkets, or should I go with more traditional stats? If so, which are best? I’ve heard a mix of Knight’s and Valkyrie is usually a good route, but that of course depends on your build, which brings me to my next set of statements…
Builds. I am so lost here. Elementalist’s are so flexible, I’m finding it a bit daunting to work out a decent build on my own. I want to play a support-ish Elementalist, and I’d PREFER to use a staff as my main weapon. As far as I can tell, the staff is probably the least damaging-condition-oriented weapon that Elementalists have access to, as most of the fire and bleed skills in the fire attunement and earth attunement respectively sit on relatively long cool downs, and do not allow for 100% condition uptime in most cases. (Unless of course I’m missing something here, which I probably am.) Which to me would suggest a setup of valk/knight equipment would be ideal.
That being said, a guildie of mine mentioned a build which utilizes the frost bow and endless might stacking. It sounds interesting, but I have no idea how to go about building something like this. I also really like the arcane utility skills. However they don’t seem to offer much in the way of group utility.
Any pointers anyone can give me about any of this, or point me in a direction where my questions might be more easily answered, and I might more fully understand this insane profession, would be much appreciated.
Hello, I’m trying to find a guild that suits me both as far as what I do in game and someplace I can fit in socially and not be a pariah.
I’m not exactly a chatter box, I don’t talk a whole lot unless someone is talking right to me, but the guild I’m in now has a tendency to ignore members that aren’t in their “in” group (they’re like a godkitten high school that’s on the internet), leading to extreme frustration when I call out for invites to guild missions, spvp, wvw, dungeons, whatever it is, and getting ignored constantly.
I do everything this game has to offer; I love to spvp, I do WvW when I actually get an invite to a guild group, love running dungeons. General PvE is a blast with friends.
What I’m mainly looking for is an active guild that does a bit of everything, and perhaps does Guild missions weekly on a set schedule.
I main warrior. Been working on leveling an ele and guard for a long time, but they aren’t 80 yet.
I am also willing to move to whichever server you are on.
Ok, guess I’ll just have to wait till payday then. Thanks for the quick responses.
Ok so I have this greatsaw weapon skin that I USED to have on my main warrior, but i used a transmutation splitter to get it off of him and onto one of my alts. I now want to delete this alt to make room for another character, because I can’t afford a transmutation splitter or a character expansion slot at the moment.
My question is: if I store the greatsaw in the bank right now, and delete the character, will I be able to split it later, even though the character that the weapon is currently soulbound to is gone?
Been trying to log in for like 4 days now. Every time I try I just get this login error everytime.
Build 27495
Error Code 42:0:9001:4137
Tried resetting internet connection. Ran a repair on the client. Tried connecting directly from my internet modem to the computer. Nothing recommended has worked.
Would I be able to use this item to separate this Greatsaw skin from the Greatsword I used it on and repurpose it for PvP?
I’m looking to guest on a server where people still actually do the Cursed Shore event chains, it’s totally dead on my server and on the servers I’ve previously tried guesting on.
I’m starting on my legendary finally and naturally I’m gonna need like a million karma to get my clovers and the 250 obsidian shards needed to craft the Gift of Mastery.
Orr is totally dead on my server, so I was wondering; where is the next best place to quickly farm karma?
Thanks for the help, everyone, a lot of good points were made.
I’m wondering now though, since dogged march + Melandru’s and -condi food will make Mobile Strikes rather useless, should I swap out the GS for a Sword and Warhorn? I didn’t plan on using 100b ever unless the opportunity presented itself in the form of allies providing the lock down, just had GS up here for 3, 4, and 5.
I’ve been trying to come up with a warrior build that revolves around the axe/shield, that could survive in zergs, take a beating, dish one back out, and at least somewhat be able to roam for a while now. I think I might have finally figured something out (maybe).
The build:
The idea is to get your adrenaline for evis from taking a beating, using axe 3 or GS 4 to apply an immobilize and quickly evis them. Obviously I tried to get some condi removal too, but I don’t know if Mending would be better than Healing Surge in a burst-oriented build.
I’m not too concerned about providing a bunch of group support in zergs, as many of my guildies run extremely tanky and support-oriented builds, as do many zerg runners.
The main thing I’m not sure about at this point is gear. Should I trade off some zerker pieces for more knights/soldiers? Would a different rune set benefit me more? I want to keep both power and toughness above 3k, but I’m wondering if I should forgo some power for a bit more toughness.
Thanks for the input, guys. Gonna try reworking the build.
I hope I didn’t come across as insulting, I can completely understand what you’re trying to do. Just wish traits like Vigorous were better.
Nah I get what you’re saying. I don’t particularly like the shout builds either, It just that I wanted a decent source of condition removal and that seemed like the best way to achieve it, while also granting a bit of group utility in the form of boons and small heals.
All I’m really trying to do is run a build that will let me run with an axe, still do at least respectable damage, and not blow up instantly when a zerg hits me.
Thanks for the input, guys. Gonna try reworking the build.
What kind of computer specs am I looking at if I want to build a PC that will be able to handle large clumps of activity in WvW and maintain at least 20-25 fps?
I’m talking CPUs processing speed, how much RAM, video card onboard memory and processing speed; ect.
Axes are cool and I wanted a WvW build based around one, but I also wanted to be able to take a ton of punishment.
Can I get some opinions? It’s supposed to be a shout build that uses an axe and shield. I want 20 in defense for Shield mastery, but I don’t really want to move those 5 traits in strength because a hit to my rather low power would hurt, and so would losing that passive. Don’t want to move 5 out of discipline because of 5s faster weapon swap.
EDIT: What about this?

I’m running a PvE GS build that has a 75% crit chance and bonus 56% critical damage. I WAS running Sigil of Strength in my GS with 6/6 Rune of Strength, it it doesn’t seem t be nearly as effective as it used to be. So, which would be the overall greatest DPS increase: Fire or Force?

I bought a $25 dollar gift Visa gift card because I want to get the Braham’s Shield skin for my warrior before it goes away forever in a day or however long, and every time I try to enter the card info and make my purchase it tells me that the ‘Card Approval Failed’
I always make my gem purchases via gift cards, so the card information changes every time I make a purchase, and I made one last week. I’m also aware of a ‘velocity’ control on gem purchases to track fraudulent purchases or such, but I’d think a past week would be enough time…
I think it would be really neat if we could redo our personal story instanced events. Through normal gameplay the story can tend to come at uneven intervals, due being under-leveled, having to leave your zone, leveling somewhere else, and coming back, ect.
I know back when I was leveling my character when I got the game, I tended to forget who some of the NPCs I was dealing with were, and why they were there.
I’m sure there are plenty out there who are less scatter-brained than I am, but still, it would be fun to replay through your story again at rapid pace.
Besides all of that, I found the Source of Orr stretch of the story to be incredibly epic (and I mean EPIC, not huur duur das suh kewl, its epik! xD) and fun to play. I couldn’t wait to reach my next story arc. (Bar the fight with Zaitan, the hell was that?)
It would be really cool to relive all of it, especially now that my character resembles the epic hero hes supposed to be, instead of some dork wearing assorted blues and greens he got here and there.
This build is strictly PvE, trying to run this in WvW would be absurd.
I am just now returning from a months long hiatus from Guild Wars 2, and I’d like to know if this build of mine will still work, or if it won’t work anymore due to buffs/nerfs/changes that I’m sure have happened since I was last here.
The traits are as follow:
10: V
20: V – X
0
30: V -varies – XI
10: V
My skills are: Healing Signet – For Great Justice – Signet of Stamina – Banner of Discipline – Signet of Rage
Weapons are GS with Sigil of Strength and alternating LB/Rifle with +5% damage/Fire, respectively.
Knight’s armor, Runes of Strength with Berserker’s Trinkets socketed with rubys.
Build worked great for dungeons. Was beefy, had great burst damage, gave the group 100% Might/Fury/Regen uptime, roughly 40% Swiftness uptime, a bonus 170 precision and 15% crit damage with 95% uptime.
Obviously the build was all about maintaining a huge amount of Might stacks on a personal level, but I think I read somewhere that Sigil of Strength now has an ICD. I’ve also heard diminishing returns on power above 3k is pretty harsh.
Do I need to revamp some gear/traits, or should this still work as well as it did in late 2012?
When the ascended gear came out I quit playing for a month because I felt discouraged from playing.
I logged on for the first time in a month today, and I have to say I’m really not surprised what I see.
I’ve been running around for over 2 hours looking for any explorable group. I cannot find ONE person that will join me. Not one single person.
Then I typed ‘LFG fractals level 1’ in LA/map and I had 5 whipsers back within 10 seconds.
You have successfully created an agonizing gear treadmill, and killed every single one of your old dungeons. Congrats on going against your own manifesto, and killing your own game in less than half a year.
Now that’s what I call success.
Go back to Wow.
I’m gonna cut you so bad you’ll wish I hadn’t quite cut you so bad.

I’m running a semi-tanky 10/25/15/0/20 GS build on my warrior and I was wondering if I should swap out my Superior Sigil of Fire for a Superior Sigil of Strength.
My armor set is Knights with Runes of Rage, since I lack any traits in the tactics tree to buff my boon duration. With full Berserker’s Trinkets.
I’m sitting at 3k base power. Would Strength help increase my overall damage output? Or should I stick with Fire?
Ascended gear goes against what was supposed to be this games mainstay, and the game hasn’t even been out for 100 days. Talk about selling out.
Speaking strictly from a theorycrafting standpoint, if you can’t get both, which is better:
20 trait points spent in strength with the Slashing Power trait (+200 power and 10% bonus GS and Spear damage) With this traitline I would also pick up the Berserker’s Power trait which would basically put me at 22% bonus damage with my greatsword, as this build allows for 100% fury uptime.
OR
20 trait points spent in Arms with the Forceful Greatsword trait (Roughly +10% crit chance at level 80 while GS crits stack might and have their ability cooldowns reduced by 20%.)
I’m trying to come up with a fairly bulky build for PvE while still doing respectable damage with a Greatsword. (Rifle/Longbow Secondary) And I can’t decide: 20 Strength or 20 Arms.
Thoughts?
I don’t mean the boon. Say I had Healing Signet passive, the 15 Defense Trait, and 6/6 Rune of the Dolyak, would all of these effects stack with one another?
Seems the only way we get run buff is to slot warhorn in offhand. Ok, so that means I need range in 2nd slot
I shiggy doo.
Seriously. Your server can get Arah unlocked once. If you lose control of it before the next reset all the events bug out and you can’t get in the dungeon without inviting someone from another server to get you in.
How long is it gonna take to fix this?
Your nips. Calm them, forums.
The items are apparently already in the database. They’re just awaiting release.
Probably ironing out what bugs I’m sure there are. We’ll get it soon.
I really want the Greatsaw Greatsword skin. But I have terrible luck with Black Lion Keys and to buy one from another player would cost me 41g on my server.
Is there any other way to get these skins?
First I wanted to do a pure DPS build on my warrior, berserker style with a GS and 2 axes. The build works great for Overworld PvE, but obviously such a build goes down so fast in a dungeon that you can never dish out all of your damage.
Then I tried a support build based around Shout Healing, Party buffing and condition removal, and CC. Groups love this build, but I find it very boring to be a CC and support machine (It just isn’t my style.)
I’ve been trying to concoct a PvE build for my warrior that would allow me to ratain a certain degree of survivability with toughness and healing and still dish out a respectable amount of damage with a greatsword (Because I love this weapon), AND provide a bit of group utility. I think I’ve come up with a fairly decent build:
http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en&code=347000000000000070kkf0fe4fa1l1p1q2l
The build is centered around retaining 3 levels of adrenaline at all times to increase my damage by 12%, my crit chance by 9%, and give me a dose of health regeneration from the 15 Defense trait, along with the Healing Signet.
For my gear I’m using a Berserker’s Greatsword, a Knight’s Rifle, Full Knight’s armor with Soldier Runes for condition removal on my 2 shouts, and Full berserker’s trinkets.
I’m kinda torn as what to use for my 3rd utility skill. Right now I’m juggling alternating banners and Frenzy.
My base stats with this build are:
2038 Power
1811 Precision
1531 Toughness (2742 armor)
1081 Vitality
47% Crit Chance
60 crit damage (69% when greatsword is equipped)
I’ve yet to really give the build too much of a try, but does it seem like something that could work well in a dungeon setting?
EDIT: Build link should work now
(edited by Bytor.3826)
Running this variation of the ‘Captain Hammer’ build?
http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en&code=346000783u42i945ch00puffk282e2r2v32
I want to use it for PvE and WvW, but I really don’t want to run a full clerics kit, and I want to squeeze in some Knight’s gear for a little bit of crit and power, while still maintaining high toughness. Obviously my heals won’t optimal as a result of having some Knight’s mixed in.
I was thinking about using knight’s weapons and 4/6 Knight’s armor, with 2/6 Clerics and 5/5 Trinkets with the ’Cleric’s’ prefix.
Will this kitten the build?
Bullcrap? How can you possibly have stats like that? You can’t. I’m running around in FULL Berserker’s, including weapons, with 20 in Arms and 30 in Discipline and 20 in Defense and the only number I compare to is your Crit Chance. I can understand pulling that kind of power and toughness if you’re heavily invested in Strength and Defense, and even having 50% crit if you’re counting Fury crit in your base stats, but there is no way in hell you have 210% crit damage. Stop lying.
A full Berserker kit with a glass damage build should have ~250% crit damage. He has 40% less than that, which basically accounts for having 0 crit damage in trait lines.
Full berserker exotics with heavy trait into a precision line will land around 50% crit chance, which is what he stated. The crit damage matches what he should have with 0 in a trait line. The power he is mis-typing: he probably has 3k attack, which is power + weapon damage. He’s probably running ~2100 power and 1k weapon damage. Note: this means no/low investment into a power trait line.
Note: he is talking PvE gear.
Then I’m doing something completely wrong. I have full exotic berserker’s, Armor, trinkets, weapons, the jewels inside my trinkets, and Ruby orbs in my armor. That paired with 30 discipline and 20 arms and I still only come out with a base 51% crit chance and 104% crit damage.
How does one reach 250% crit damage? I just don’t see it.
I use full zerker setup with Knight’s weapon and 30def, running around with 2800 armor, 3k pow, 50% crit, and 210% crit dmg.

I bet this has been posted before, but Ill say it again if it has:
Team colors are obnoxious. Uniform red and blue are not only incredibly boring, but can start to hurt my eyes after so much time.
I propose that instead of having your armor changed to the uniform color of your team, why not just change the color of the background on your chest armor? In SPvP everyone’s got the blank ‘tabard’ to show their guild off, why not just change that instead of the whole suit?
In regard to those questioning the price I payed for my gear, I’m talking about EVERYTHING. Exotic armor, all exotic Trinkets, an exotic greatsword and 2 exotic axes.
Each armor piece cost me on average 2g 65s, the trinkets were just a hair above or below 3 gold.
So, 2.65*6 = 15.9 gold. and 3*6 = 18 gold. Weapons were about 3 aswell. 3*3 = 9.
16+18+9 = 43
Thanks for the feedback guys!
I just spent like 40g on my ’Berserker’s’ armory and now it’s looking like a huge mistake.
I’ve been reading the forums a lot and by the sound of it I’m going to get thrashed in PvP. High damage warriors aren’t viable in PvP (So I’ve heard over and over.)
As I said, I’ve got full exotic Berserker’s armor, putting me at roughly 2.2k Power, 55% base crit chance with 105% crit damage. My toughness is just a hair above 1k. My armor is roughly 2.1k. I have 19.5k Health.
I use a greatsword and dual axes (Likely to change one of these.)
My skills are Mending, Dolyak Signet, Frenzy, Endure Pain, and Signet of Rage.
My traits are 10/30/0/0/30. I used to have 10 in Defense for Sure Footed, but it doesn’t work, so I switched to Strength for the bonus health.
I guess my reason for posting this is to find out if I can salvage a build using this gear and be viable. Would I be able to switch my traits around to become more durable, and still maintain high damage? If so how? What skills should I dump in favor of what other skills?
Which sigil’s should I put in my axes from a PvP perspective? Right now I’m running Sigil of blood in my main hand and sigil of air in my offhand.
Is this good for pvp, or is there a better combination?
Title.
I use 3 stances in my build so I figured it would be a really nice trait to have (It makes my stances last 25% longer.)
It doesn’t seem to work, though. When I use a stance there appears to be no boost to the duration of my stances.
I’m level 80 and I’m running a Greatsword/Dual axe warrior with high power/crit%/crit damage.
I need a ranged weapon to swap to for PvE. given my stats, which would be a better choice? I’m thinking longbow because rifle damage is based somewhat off of bleeds right? I have no condition damage bonuses so using a rifle might be suboptimal (I THINK)
B) Don’t like grinding? Don’t like farming? Don’t like doing the same dungeons repeatedly? Then why the hell are you playing an MMO?
Agree. BUT Anet said no farming no grinding no doing same dungeons repeately cause they dont want same boring mmo like others. I love those things, just sayin…
You’d have to direct me to where they said that. I was excited for this game, but I didn’t really look for new updates on it prior to its release, nor did I get it on release.
But these things have been cornerstones of MMOs since Everquest. Hell, not even MMOs, just RPGs in general. It would be extremely hard to remove these things from an MMO.
A) The game JUST came out. You can’t realistically expect there to be a ton of neat kitten to do end game yet. ANet is still ironing out bugs and such.
B) Don’t like grinding? Don’t like farming? Don’t like doing the same dungeons repeatedly? Then why the hell are you playing an MMO?
This game is all about PvP anyways. Get your gear then go wreck kitten. If you don’t like WvWvW, you could always do some SPvP or TPvP.
