I am on the same boat as you are. I see some players passing thru just killing the veteran to get the skill point. I’ve been waiting for that NPC Nabbi for almost a year now. One of the many reasons I had to take a break from the game, coz I got impatient and kittened from not being able to progress. That’s the last thing I need to move forward to Bolt II. It’s ridiculous. Now, just got back in the game……Guess what…..NO SCHOLAR NABBI.
The disconnects are getting worst. I will be in the middle of doing a t4 run for VB and poof, disconnect. Once I reconnect, I get back to VB and I lost all my achievements and have to start over. Worst is doing a DS run. You have to at least spend about more than an hour on that event to get to the final chest and hopefully the stupid noxious pod run. But, poof disconnect, reconnect and I cannot go back to the certain map I toiled for hours. ANET, what the hell is going on? This is insanity.
yeah, at least now I know I won’t be sporting a legendary ever. I could at least strive for an ascended weapon
forgot about the typical statement: This game is not a grind, it is a grind only if you want it to be. STAY EXOTIC!
It would make sense to farm and grind for in game gold and buy a legendary outright from the TP. Because if I plan on making ascended armor and legendary at the same time, that could take ages. It is better to just buy gems and convert to gold, then buy stuff in game.
First off, I’ve been a long time player of Guild Wars both 1 and 2. Been playing gw2 since launch. I am a veryCASUAL player and enjoy the game immensely. I ended up with 13 or so level 80 characters, all armored up to max exotics. Maybe 80% of them full ascended trinkets, since they are easily attainable if you played fractals of the mists pre-HOT launch. I do have my favorite classes, but play all my characters when I can.
Anyway, I finally decided a week after HOT launched, that I was going to dive into the journey of creating my own precursor for TWILIGHT greatsword. Completed TIER 1 last night and was so happy and excited. That’s what I thought until I figured out what were required to finally just get over the TIER 1 journey. If I remember correctly, 30 Deldrimor Ingots and 30 Elonian Leather squares. I found out I only have 15 of each accumulated. Checked on TP, forget about it. These items will cost you at least 8 + gold EACH. Wanted to see if I could craft it myself since I hoarded so many materials from my almost 3 years of “on and off” pve casual gameplay. Nope, you can only make 1 item a day per account. Then, there are some shards of glory something. Some kind of pvp currency. I don’t pvp, so I bought it from the TP instead. That was priced ok.
Bottom line of the story, I should’ve just saved my precious deldrimors and elonians for crafting ascended armor or weapons. Crafted ascended armor or weapons could not be purchased straight off from the TP or anywhere for that matter. Legendary weapons can be. Well, lesson learned. Now, I am kinda bummed. I just wasted what little resource I had. And for this week or a year maybe, I might put off the game for a while because I feel kinda mad about the situation. So now, the journey for my precursor is over before it even started and left me with no deldrimors and elonians.
I am a semi active player since launch of the original GW2 launch. Located in the California coast, usually active in-game at night. I finally decided I want to craft ascended stuff. I figured, the only way to do that, especially with HOT released, is to have other players run open PVE with you.
I don’t grind. I agree it is optional. That is why I wouldn’t be able to craft or avail an ascended weapon or armor. Trinkets were a given because prior to HOT, fractals gave you, the player tons of ascended trinkets (I ended up making I think 4 silver each from them via the NPC merchant). Actually I got a Zojja box once from level 34 fractal (pre HOT). So, I do have a Zojja greatsword. That’s it. If you want ascended and above, YOU WILL GRIND. It’s required.
I still have not gotten a chance to get a win with the Chak event with 20+ tries so far. I always end up using the LFG tool (it is the only tool available for me, since every time I log in, the majority of my adopted guilds are asleep. And I’ve also noticed the TD map is barren every time I log in as well. I’ve made a decision I will get a win whenever I get lucky with a map full of GW2 expert players. These are the cool people with legendaries and ascended armor. I don’t have any of those, so I’m not part of them.
Hello. I am in Yaks Bend. Currently GW2 resurrected player from a 2 year hiatus, started playing again since HOT release. Currently have no ascended armor, but play a lot of PVE. If you guys are still recruiting, I am available to try out your company. I am online mostly 6/8pm – midnight California time.
I’ve been playing PVE since launch of the original game of GW2. I am an ALT-oholic, currently with at least 2 characters of each class and 3 Warrior classes. This includes the newly released Revenant class also btw. All my characters are level 80 with only maxed exotic gear. I play all of them and favor none. That’s just how I enjoy the game. That is the main reason why I would not be able to afford making ascended gear myself because I have too many characters and no main. I might have enough materials to at least start crafting some required stuff for ascended but it is spread through my entire account and trying to consolidate what I have will be busy work and will take time away from actual game play and enjoyment of PVE. So, you are not alone.
I took a break from playing the game for about 2 years, came back for HOT and realized the original game maps, especially the mid level maps like 40-55 level for all races have a lot of valuable “press F farming style.” For example, platinum ore nodes, lower level woods and others can sell very nicely in the TP at the moment. So, go back in the old maps, do some map completions, farm nodes, get some XP, have fun in the game all over again. After my 2 year break, I went straight to HOT obviously, because I paid for that game content and was overwhelmed with all the requirements. Mastery points are a grind. So, instead I went back to the old world and farmed. Now, I might have to leave the game again because I can’t join some of the new content due to ascended requirements. Ascended gear is not attainable for a casual player like me. Oh well, but yeah make gold by going back to old maps, farm nodes and sell it.
wit the dungeon nerf and fracs giving close to nothing, how is everyone making gold?
only way I ever made gold in this game is crafting and sell damask and insignias, but with leather added and the prices shooting up even that has become close to non rewarding
Ahhhhh, I remember those times. Running around in Kurzick and Luxon country trying to (LFG) The Deep and Urgoz dungeons. If tired of waiting for an SF tank and 55 BiP necro to join the party, I just go pick my heroes and vanquish maps in Hard Mode. The only difference is, the open world PVE map in the original GW game is only yours and players or npc’s in your party. You will never get to meet other players in the open world unless you are in cities, like LA and Kamadan. I kinda like meeting other players in the open world, helping out others attain a hero point, reviving a downed player and so forth. But, some content in HOT is just not doable if you don’t ask for help from anyone in the map or a guild you belong to. Some HOT maps will require you to have extra help to complete whatever goals you are trying to do. So, it is a toss up. The mastery system for HOT will be a very hard GRIND if you want the access NOW as soon as you stumble into something. But, if you play casually, stay away from places that would insta kill your character until help arrives, then you should be fine.
GW1 is the most solo friendly MMO I’ve ever played due to the henchmen-heroes, you can even run through some of the the elite missions after you finish.
In GW2 it was not the same, but most of the open world is still soloable, most the meta are quite easy with enough ppl. The dungeons don’t even provide you better gear, just different skins. Even the Ascended sets only provide slightly higher stats and they don’t just drop in elite dungeons. Overall, GW2 is a very casual friendly game as well. So the whole player base is mostly formed of casual players. Of course when HoT came out, they don’t like a lot of it. Sure most of the open world is still soloable, but you need to be much more careful, even normal mobs could kill you in secs if not careful, a lot of players don’t want to explore the world like that. Right now HoT is new, but after a while, people will move into new content, it would be a problem for the rest to get the HP/meta done. I don’t get why so many players say “It’s a MMO group up”
Before WOW, most of the MMO are 90%+ groups content, which is why they were all niche game. WOW made 50-60% of the open world soloable and became a huge success. Now even WOW has past its prime because people got tired of its group content, people demand quicker, easier games without a settled timer. I don’t think HoT is going to the right direction.
ANET, what do I have to do to get a stupid ticket? OMG, I have been opening coffers since the beginning of the event. I could not keep count. I also bought with my money your stupid Rich coffer = no ticket. This sucks! Not spending anymore money in that stupid BOX!

Noone is forcing you to run around and burn those statues..
This hit the nail on the head.
Just because you aren’t forced to do it, doesn’t mean it’s immune from criticism. This forum is about feedback, and it’s fair to say that running around burning 50 effigies is tedious non-content. Should we never provide negative feedback on optional content, because we “don’t have to do it”? No. I think it’s fair to call these achievements what they are: an un-fun grind. There are ways to make them more fun, but there’s nothing inherently fun in them.
There is no GRIND in Guild wars 2! I am a JEDI, doing the mind trick on y’all!
interested in joining your guild. I play mostly 7-10 pm Hawaii time on weekdays.
I am currently with a small guild in Yaks Bend NA. Been playing the game a lot since official release. PVE a lot, haven’t gotten the PVP bug yet even WvWvW. I love doing dungeons, do them daily, minus Arah explorables. Have all character professions level 80 and maxed out. I don’t have a main character because I enjoy playing all of them, depending also on the situation. I will try and join if INVITED.
I am interested in join y’all fine folks! I love dungeons too. If I receive an invite, awesome. Thanks.
Aloha guys and gals! I am located in Yaks Bend NA. I play a lot of dungeons including FotM minus Arah explorable. Been playing since the game was available for purchase. I am a member of a very small guild still with players in it. I would love to join an active dungeon/PVE guild and help contribute and run dungeons like crazy. I have all 8 professions leveled to 80 geared up.
Just FYI, i can’t leave the tiny guild. It’s my very first guild when i started in GW2. I will rep, but not 100%. I play a lot. Hawaii time 1700-0000 weekdays. weekends all the time. Send me an invite. Mahalo!
woah. i mean, mine was just a measly Brisban wildlands map completion and not get anything from it. Your situation is a actually worse than mine. Oh well, hope you get your reward somehow.
Exactly what the topic states. I am not tech savvy, i don’t know how to screen capture with my mac pro notebook, all i know is I completed Brisban wildlands map by grabbing the last waypoint, then, NOTHING. I hope someone in your team can look up my account and see I just completed that map today and got nothing from it. If nothing comes out of this, i don’t care either way, its stupid.
