I’m in agreement as well. I unfortunately didn’t get to play much around the time of the update and missed out on the fight aside from doing a few lane events. Would love another chance to properly experience it.
As far as HoT and season 3 is concerned, I never had much issue with fewer waypoints.
Kitten Silverwastes though.
At least we’re getting mounts, so that map will become much less annoying than it already is (not that anyone ever does that kittening map, but will make it easier camping for the mastery points…).
I have to agree here, I adore that map but 2 wp’s is just underwhelming. The fact that one can be contested is even more of a nuisance. They could have at least let us have permanent skritt tunnels for a slightly easier time navigating, but even those are locked behind an event.
You say condi doesn’t have the advantage to crit, well power doesn’t have the advantage of duration.
Having all the damage be applied over time instead of at once is not an advantage. Duration just gives your opponent more time to do something about it.
Not if you’re CC’ed or out of range or your opponent is stealthed or invulned.
Then there’s the fact you can just bomb a lot of condis on something and just peace out while the victim DoTs to death.
or you can just burst someone with power and have him dead right there, no need to wait.
In a perfect world where the opponent doesn’t move or dodge or block or use boons or apply conditions and your attacks have infinite range and always crit and you’re immortal so you never have to use dodges or heals or cleanses or CCs and you just whale on people with attacks all day…maybe.
That same braindead nonsense also applies to condi as well.
We already have WP’s and Gliders. Flying mounts would just be entirely unnecessary, especially when Anet could just make a glider in the shape of a griffon or something.
I like them and hope they keep them and just add it to the list of things that can be culled from sight. That way people who enjoy them can keep the effects and the others can turn it off.
Personally I didn’t really want sword, but I can live with it if it pairs nicely with OH Dagger. I absolutely hate Focus, beyond Swirling Winds and Earth 4 all the other skills just feel bland and unexciting to use. Otherwise I guess I’ll just stick to Tempest, WH is awesome and I enjoy the Spec a lot anyway.
YESSSSSSS!
I’ve waited for this day for so long, I can’t believe it’s actually happening! I kind of want to stat swap all my gear right now.
While killing it is out if question simply letting it be would be pretty stupid. It did drive the karka and krait inland after all, there’s no telling what else could be lurking in those waters that’s yet to be driven out by Steve, and since this is Tyria it could be even worse than the Karka and Krait combined.
I’m going to be boring and go with Keepsake Sword, despite clashing with the general look of Weaver I just really love that skin.
Well that or I’ll make Jormag’s Breath.
I didn’t have too bad of a time, it’s just that I spent an embarrassing 10+ minutes with no clue how to get past this. It wasn’t until I decided to actually try to figure out what what’s her face was trying to tell me that ran up to a ghost and realized what I had to do.
I really enjoyed the idea behind the fight, but it’s execution had much to be desired with how vague it is.
That paired with our very disadvantageous class mechanic (relying on temporary summons to do damage) and our current position in the damage table (deadbeat last, by a mile, no actually by a galaxy) makes me not all to hopeful that within the scope of some rework we might become viable (raid or fractal damage wise).
Condi mesmer is doing 25k dps, that’s a lot closer to top tier dps than what you are describining
It’s all single target though and, it’s not like with Necroes who can at least Epi to spread condis for decent AoE.
Viper Ele is actually viable now? Well this has to be the highlight of my forum visit, time to stat change some viper gear.
Cleaving hybrid weapon, that’s all I want from axe.
I’m honestly not that excited for sword, that weapon is so overdone it’s basically the staff of main hands. On the bright side, Bolt is cool so it’s for that going for it.
ITT: People want to gut a trait with an icd instead of doing the logical thing and just applying the completely fine PVP version in WvW. Ironic because we as Eles should know how terrible icd’s can be as a balancing tool.
Competitive to what? The line is already competitive.
This is mainly for PvP, the Fire line is pretty terrible in that mode.
25k with ALL buffs is actually kind of low. Something to remember is being max range to get the most out of Air 5, lining Fire 5 up correctly on large hitbox to get the double ticks, rotate your camera to the top to minimize Fire 3 distance so you can swap back to Air auto attack and still be in range and lastly maximize when your using/picking up conjured weapons and how they fit in your rotation.
o.0 does this actually make a difference?
It saves you 1-2 seconds of walking backward doing kitten damage with Fire 1, with 1 second of just Burning Speed into Air Auto.
Except it’s not dying. That’s what you want to interpret here, when in fact it’s a magical fish that can breathe on land except it has no legs(meaning it needs to flop) and is still a fish so it needs to keep making the same gasping motions it does underwater. Seriously have you ever seen a fish underwater before? They “gasp” for air down there too. I don’t even know why this is more disturbing than say, walking around with an eternally bleeding to death jungle wurm head.
Also, I like how you completely disregard a large portion of the playerbase that actually enjoys this mini just because of some people who don’t like it(ie the people who it’s not even meant for). Like everything in this game, if you don’t like, don’t associate with it. No reason to ruin other people’s fun just because you can’t handle seeing some dead pixels in subjective pain.
Now, I’m relatively new to the forums so I have no clue how to respond to multiple comments at the same time. So in relation to your post about the dog instead of fish thing, yes I actually would find that disturbing because that isn’t normal behaviour for a dog.
What makes the fish different you might ask? I’ll say it again, it’s a magical fish with no legs. Like all fish it will flop on land, like all fish it will “gasp” for air because it uses gills on land. However unlike other fish it can actually breathe on land because like Evon Gnashblade said, it’s magical.
TL;DR
No, Anet should not change the Floppy Fish.
PS.
Sorry if this has a few mistakes or structuring is off, posting on a mobile and well, I hate mobiles. Also sorry if this came off aggressive/impolite in anyway as it’s not intended, I really suck at written tone.

What this class really needs:
- tempest needs more survivability when you don’t have healing power
- core ele needs straight up more damageBoom, fixed ele. Let’s go.
I’m pretty sure you have that backwards….kind of, Tempest imo has enough damage as is.
I assume it’s because Signet of Midnight is instant cast and on a rather low cd, making it much for forgiving for Distortion share, since you don’t have to interrupt whatever it is you’re doing.
You can try this. I used this for a bit when I just wanted to mess around. It’s hardly optimized but it was pretty fun.
Gosh, now I want to drop finishing my Condi support set and just remake this one.
EDIT: I had a massive brain lapse when posting this, I read through all the replies first and got caught with them that I forgot that OP does in fact have access to tempest. So I’m just reediting the build to what I actually used.

2. Fire 2, 3, 5,
.
Just out of curiosity, does it matter what order this is done?
I ask because I like going Fire 5>2>3. That way Wildfire has already spread a bit behind the enemy for when I Phoenix, so I can stack up some extra might.
Hilarilate to the party, but here’s my Sylvari Elementalist.
As you can see, she’s very blue.
I’m hoping it’s a cleaving condi weapon, or at the very least hybrid. I realize that there are lots of mesmer players who are probably sick of condi but seriously, I just want to play a viable PvE condi spec.
If it’s a power weapon, that’s still fine, I’m getting tired of sword either way.
I don’t really care what it is, as long as Water Attunement is damage.
…although, I am kind of hoping it turns out to be mh Focus or Hammer.
On one hand, Arc Lightning buff finally coming to PvE is sweet. On the other, we got an unnecessary Air Overload nerf.
I want to use this, but in the years I’ve played Ele, I’ve never actually used OH Dagger so I’m not sure how the combos even work. So far, RtL>Updraft>Fire Swap>Ring of Fire>Fire Grab seems like a no brainer. I’m still not sure how to set up a good Churning Earth without use of LF however.
Also, just something that came to mind, an Intelligence sigil looks like it might be much better in the place of Accuracy.
I am hoping for a focus main hand and an elite spec that is on the line of a pure mage or a siege mages (thinking an ele with wells or some other high dmg aoe utility). That and the class wepon skin would be an orb i think orbs / books fit the focus wepon skins well and are unused atm.
That sounds pretty cool. Dual wield Anomaly or Knowledge is Power is definitely an appealing sight.
No matter what it is I’m 100% convinced that the Elite skill will do nothing interesting at all.
Naturally.
But imagine a healing FA spec. There are plenty of traits in Air that aren’t damage focused and can work with a healing spec.
Oh wow, that sounds awesome. I could totally see air being a support spec. Like, think of an air mage whose constantly swapping in and out of air to bolster their allies’ actions. Granting superspeed to enhance their mobility or paralyzing enemies with lightning to massively slow their actions down. Imbuing allies with electrical energy to revitalize them by applying superspeed and healing them for a small amount. I could totally see it working.
Hell, fire skills that are based around healing and cleansing conditions would be cool too. Perhaps in the form of a trait that caused your fire fields to heal and cleanse a condition on allies standing in them.
Really there’s just so many ideas, I’m making myself sad thinking of it all because we might never actually get them
We also get a water attunement that’s more on the offensive side of things.
Like, it invokes physical pain in me everytime I gloss over our water traits and I happen upon Piercing Shards. A trait that pretty much serves no purpose at the moment, because who in their right mind would even attempt to feasibly fight in water attunement.
Not only that, but offensive use of water magic is something I quite enjoy and really wished Anet would have explored that aspect a bit more. The same goes for Fire as a supportive element as well, which is something I’d also like to see.
EDIT: Filled in a few blank spaces.

Zealot’s is a good mix of damage and healing. It just doesn’t offer any defense. and is more expensive to make. Zealot’s is twice as much damage as cleric’s which is twice as much damage as magi’s.
Ugh, forget that reply, I wrote that half-asleep after I got home and left out a bunch of things. So I apologize for that.
Anyway, instead of explaining what exactly I was going to change, I’ll just show you the build I settled on.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this lay out compared to the other one. I hit just enough HP so that the last pulse of WtPA heals for a 1000, which was actually something I was trying to get(healing in the 4 digits not exactly at 1000). Plus I’ve got some good power damage going and just enough crit chance that in any group scenario where something like Spotter is present, I’ll get to 60% with Fury. I swapped out the Leadership runes too for Durability because I’d prefer to have the 125 Vit than the extra 10% Boon Duration. I’ll swap out Water for Air, but only when I’m running general open world PvE. For anything group related I’ll swap back to Water.
So what are your thoughts on the new one? Is there anything you’d change to make it better?
(edited by Catastro.8410)
Thanks for the reply I appreciate it a lot.
I’m not going to lie, I considered running a condi support build because all I would have needed was Apothecary’s. However Condi Ele in general doesn’t quite appeal to me as much as power.
The Zealot’s trinkets are really only there because they’re much easier to get thanks to the new maps that came with LS updates. I really only planned on using them because I thought they’d be the best stats to use for a good mix of damage and healing. Given what you’ve told me, I’ll just forget them entirely and try to find a good mix between Cleric/Magi’s stats.
Hi, recently I’ve been getting a bit tired of using DPS Tempest so I decided to mix things up a bit. I’m mostly going to be using this in all HoT content and maybe higher tier Fractals.
The above build is what I intend on using. I’m already set on this trait set up(I however will swap out Air for Water from time to time) but I’m kind of lost on the stat set up and what sigils to use.
I’m mostly trying to max out on healing power and offensive stats so that I don’t hit like a noodle. While I’d like think the current set up should do just that without being too costly, I’d still appreciate a second opinion.
Also, I’ve been considering swapping Dagger out for Scepter from time to time as well. Mostly because it gives me access to Phoenix and Water Trident for even more Vigor and Regen uptime, along with pretty reliable burst damage.
I’d like this, personally DB’s after cast makes it such a chore to use, and if I had a way to keep my Lead Attacks buff and bleeds up aside from DB I’d be a happy camper.
What sort of PvE are you talking about? Open world? Dungeons/fractals? Raids?
In open world, sure, go for it. It’ll be miserable because the autoattack is purely single target, but it’ll work I guess.
In dungeons/fractals/raids, it can be potentially optimal to swap to scepter while casting wells, use skill 3, then swap back to sword. Other than that, no.
Basically everything other than Raids, as I don’t intend on doing that for a while.
I mostly got past the single target problem with the Scepter while leveling by just grouping mobs with Focus 4 and just using Scepter 3 on them, it’s takes more effort than it should, but I really do like this weapon. I just wish Anet would give the auto some love.
Scepter 3 takes 2s to cast. Auto attack is bad, and scepter 2 is defensive skill.
If you use Scepter 3 and sword 5 or focus 5. What do you do for next 7s, until weapon swap? AA on scepter? You said yourself it is bad.
Well, yeah but I was thinking maybe I could use it for some opening burst perhaps. Maybe drop 2 iSwordsmen and Sc#3 and just dps as normal with Sw/Sh. Considering I don’t intend on Raiding or anything like that, this should be a viable tactic(or at least I’m hoping it is).
(I got yelled at once for not using it when running longbow on my ranger when it was actually desirable lol).
This happened to me while doing AB South Meta, what’s worse is that I accidentally panic clicked and knocked the bomb inside a Breacher and pretty much stalled the event for a good 30 seconds until a Mesmer(the irony) had to G5 it out.
As a Mesmer who kind of knows what he’s doing, there’s probably 2 reasons for this.
Either they’re using it a misguided attempt to get some breakbar damage, or they’re just using whatever’s off CD.
