GTX 6GB Titan@1160Mhz
3007WFP@2560x16000
nvm u miss the point lol.
What was your point again? You said that these cards are not enthusiasts cards (which they are 100% aimed at real enthusiasts) & people who buy them have more money than sense? Little bit offensive no?
Theres ‘the gamer’ …theres ’ the enthusiast’ …then theres ‘the rich guy’.
The 2011 chipset of CPU’s was aimed for enthusiasts, and yet many people who use said CPU even admitt that the Titan is to expensive for what it is. I have no doubt Nvidia intended to aim at the people who have more money than sense, but i question whether it was a wise decision ..i doubt they will get the sales they expect.
As it stands the Titan is only worth getitng if ur getting 2 or more, infact technicaly its only worth getting if ur geting 3 or 4, as 1 or 2 can be beat by cheaper setups.
Even still, if u include 2, 3 and 4 way SLI Titan setups, thats still waaay more than even the average enthusiast is willing to spend on GPU’s.4 Way 4gb 680
4 Way 4gb 670
4 way 3gb 660ti
4 way 6gb 7970
4 way 3gb 7950All are considered enthusiats level setups and all are cheaper than 2 way Titan setups, and faster or atleast as fast.
I know there r those who will buy the Titan ..but they r not ‘enthusiasts’ ..atleast not normal ones.. they simply have more money than sense, otherwise they wouldnt let Nvidia rip them off so badly.
I’m detecting some jealousy here man, or your just plain kitten. What about the guy that spends $50,000 to fix up his old corolla ? Some people just know how to budget for there hobby. Just because you can’t, doesn’t mean the people that can have more money than sense.
With all those setups you mention, your in for a driver nightmare & very few select game even support Quad sli/fire.
45FPS is spot on for your GPU. If you want more then turn some of your settings down. I have a 7950@1200mhz & get similar FPS.
The only single card that can truly max this game is a TITAN.
the titan wont do a kitten bit of good in this game, sorry but, the games cpu bound not gpu bound, even anet admit this.
this game would need a 6-8ghz tricore cpu to remove the cpu bottleneck and move it onto gpu……as we all know, nobody makes such a beast….
Titan can truly max out this game if you’ve got the cpu to back it up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9rp6hTV3P4
That’s EVERYTHING enabled, including MAX shadows, shaders, everything on. If I reduce the shadows/shaders it never moves from 60fps which is Vsync capped.
Gonna have to buy 2 then. I don’t run anything at less than max.
GW2 does not like Xfire. So I would not recommend that.

typical eye cannot detect movement faster than 32 fps. Why do you need a higher frame rate? unless you plan on recording video and then reviewing it in slow-mo. (or is it just for bragging rights?)
4.4Ghz doesn’t mean a whole lot without the # of cores or actual processor name (architecture is important). The second you OC you lose all support from everyone ever btw. Power supply either works, or doesn’t, no need to mention it; certainly wont affect frames. Try running with 1 graphics card (or disable crossfire). define “clean format” did you completely format your hard drive, and install nothing but drivers and GW2? Update your drivers for everything & disable as many processes as possible Anything that shows your user name next to it in task manager can be ended (don’t end taskmgr though). Then try running GW2 right from the task manager.
I run max settings w/ v-sync at ~30fps 1920×1080 resolution on my laptop, not over clocked, core i7 (Q840) @ 1.87GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 (1Gb ded & 3Gb shared), DX10, 8GB RAM, off a SSD. Internet speeds of 25 down 5 up.
Strong broscience..
1) FYI: The human eye does not see in FPS LMAO!!!!!!! So yes, you can EASILY spot the difference between 60fps & 120fps.
2) Power supplies can EASILY work & still be faulty
3) The second you overclock, earns my respect for having some balls
4) No, you cant run truly MAXED setting on that laptop, EVER. Sorry.
Going from DDR1333 to DDR1600 will net you basically ZERO fps increase. The speed increase is so negligible you will not notice any difference. Your issues are elsewhere & not in the memory speed.
In fact, going from DDR1333 to DDR2600Mhz will net you around 1-5FPS MAX in gaming.
U wont get steady 60fps in LA with any CPU up to date, most likelly a non overcloked intel cpu will give u 30% more FPS. i would say overclock ur cpu to 4ghz and wait either for a fix or a new cpu generation, new socket and such.
Yes, you will. But you’ll need >4Ghz i7 to do it. This is with 1 x HD6970 @ 2560×1600. Even crowded LA it’s always >40fps.

Softmodding the card will end in tears & wont suddenly make it any better than it currently is.
Get a proper gaming card like a 660TI/670/HD7950 ect… Quadro’s just are not meant for gaming.

I know my Graphics Card is not gaming I use this computer mainly for 3d rendering and AutoCAD.
I suppose my first question is should my rig run the game smoothly?
Your right, it’s not a gaming card. GW2 requires a strong GPu to run smoothly, which unfortunately you don’t have.
Artifacting GPU you have my friend. Installing the latest drivers could be the solution.

Madeline ‘O’ Madeline… the problems Fancy Fool describes, are not that of hard drive corruption, but that of a once great, however steadily deteriorating graphics adapter. Within the midst of transistors found deep inside the display adapter lies a torn soul, faulty memory of a withered old fool whom was once a giant in the sea of graphics adapters.
A solution is needed hastily my dear, would replacing the dated old gpu be the solution to Fancy Fools problems? Only time will tell..
Currently testing:

-12GB 1600Mhz
-Win7 64bit
-2 × 120GB SSD

Dell 3007 30" 2560×1600
LA 45 fairly crowded haloween event
LA 60 not so crowded
Your graphics quality settings are low, very low. Also that looks like a very low resolution, what res you running?
Turn your graphics settings up a bit.
Your FPS are perfectly normal for a single card, I get basically the same. If you want to pretty much double your FPS, go SLi & you’ll never look back.
Hope this helps.

Notsureiftrolling…
Nvidia card run this game sweet, your particular 6year old Nvidia video card will not however. Your at exactly minimum requirements. Minimum requirements = slideshow with ANY PC game.
Hope this helps.
G’day,
Perfect connection here on Melbourne/TPG. Never been disconnected & never been laggy.
As far as I know, you can’t download the individual patches.
1) Copy the client from a mate
2) Copy/paste the entire folder onto an external HDD & do all the updates at an internet cafe
3) Put it onto a laptop & drive around the neighborhood until you find an unprotected wifi network.
Please re-post this in English thanks.
Q: Rotating or turning camera lowers FPS.
A: With Shadows & Reflections set to high/ultra there is currently some kind of programming software bug that causes your FPS to plummet. Lowering these should alleviate some of the FPS drops.
I’m not using Task Manager—I’m watching all cores with HWInfo64.
One core will be peaking at 100%. Try allcpumeter .
One of them will be peaking at %100, probably one of your cpu cores. Task manager averages it out across all cores (including HT) so don’t look at that for CPu usage.
You need new internals (not including the gpu). What PSU you running?
You can start with this:
2500k
16gb DDR1600
SSD
Keep your GPU. GTX570 with an ancient Athlon???? What the…..
You did not even upgrade:
http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/29624-nvidia-geforce-gts-450-vs-gtx-550-ti-clocks/
Perhaps a little more research next time…
Yeah no way it’s overclocked to 3Ghz, just no. Also, no chance your gpu is a fully fledged 8800GTS. It’s more like an 8800m which is roughly a desktop 8600GT.
@SolarNova
IBT is much faster to test CPU stability than Prime95.
15min of IBT is equal to 12 hours of Prime95 testing
No, it’s not. I’ve had cpu’s pass IBT yet fail P95 almost instantly & vice versa.
Captain N.5728, your cpu does not pass with a “healthy” margin. It only JUST passes. We all know that JUST meeting minimum requirements doesn’t mean it’s enjoyable.
If you doubt these guy’s, try sticking your GPU into a current gen i7 powered rig & watch your fps more than tripple. Your processor is to old mate, either overclock the crap out of it or upgrade.
Your game looks like Pac-Man.
But as stated, it’s because you’ve got VERY low rendering/quality going on.
Well, its not EPIC the way people are thinking, ofc. Since there are Graphic Cards who cost the same as my entire PC. But it can be a beast since it will handle 100% Far Cry and I’m playing a lot of other epic 2012 games, like Dishonored.
I believe that you can get 60 FPS everywhere. But, GW is “nothing” compared to a lot of Single Player games, when it comes to graphics, general art and design, etc. Like in other games, I should’ve been playing with 60 everywhere aswell, excepct in WvWvW and or dragon battles like The Shatterer, etc.
So, I TRULY believe that its an issue about the game’s optimization, so I would love to know if there’s a drive, or a way to put things better until they optimize the game (theres a devs post where they talk about it), or there’s a link/something/anything, where I can post my PC composition so arena.net can check it out.
Cheers!
Err, Farcry 3 hasn’t even been released yet… So how do you know it will run it so well? Your comparing a game that hasn’t been released yet, & not even an MMO to GW2??? Don’t compare other games you play, it doesn’t work like that.
You’ve got your answer, if you don’t like it then go make a ticket or call up Anet. Got nothing to do with “Game Optimization” as you say. If your PC can’t run it how you want, then go buy a better pc. Your opinion on how you “THINK” the game “SHOULD” run on your PC is irrelevant.
What’s the problem? I can’t see anything besides what Kuldebar says, your resolution is extremely low.
Your PC is average, not epic, not a beast, sorry. What resolution you playing in?
I can say that when I game with a single MSI GTX660Ti Power Edition @ 2560×1600, my FPS are almost exactly the same as yours. Perhaps a little bit better because my cpu is stronger & I always overclock my GPU’s.
It wasn’t until I add a second GPU for SLi do I see 60FPS pretty much everywhere except of course WvWvW, where it drops to 40-50’s in pretty big battles.
My load times are almost exactly the same as Sorcerer of Swords.1483. The SSD drive should be pretty much plug & play. Don’t need to tweak/fix/stuff around with anything.
I average 5-8sec teleporting/loading anything in GW2 on with a 120GB Sandisk SSD running on a Sata2 port. I highly doubt the Sata2 port will be affecting it much.
I know it’s a silly question, I can see you’ve still got your old 1TB mechanical HDD installed. Did this also have Win7 installed? So you’ve got 2 HDD’s installed with Win7 installed on them?
Are you 100% SURE your running the game from the SSD & it’s not still running from the mechanical drive?
As stated by everyone else, it will probably run, but be prepared for a slideshow.
Looking at the Ezcool 500W, that looks like a generic yum cha. If that’s the case then it’s more likely a re-badged 250w or 300w max power supply.
If nothing works after you’ve exhausted all the basic troubleshooting problems (free), the only way to really troubleshoot an issue like this is start swapping parts around & I’d start with the power supply.
I am not entirely clear on what I’m looking for in the readings so I’ll post a screenshot hopefully giving you the needed info.
I have actually just noticed the GPU usage at 99%…. It was at 67% last time I checked. That can’t be good. I just tried it with Dishonored, and it peaked at 66%.
Your GPU is maxing, 100% gpu bottleneck at this point. Until you get into heavy WVWVW then it will move to CPU.
But for the most part, your GPU is bottlenecking. Don’t worry about other games, you can’t really compare.
I was getting an average of 40 fps in open world. Sometimes getting down to 30’s and slightly below in events, and up to 45 in other open areas. 30 and under in WvW. That is with native sampling. Supersample absolutely killed me.
Yes, I am currently getting 10-15 (well, I did on CCC 12.8, it’s around 12-18 now on 12.9) in wide open areas. I tried several locations, land, water, jumped from one end of map to another to check if it’s that particular area or not, you name it.
EDIT: Didn’t check the clock, about to do that.
EDIT 2: Checked it. Clock increasing as normal.
Well, that’s pretty bad & I’d be leaning towards not just a downgrade, but a massive downgrade. Got another Gpu there you can chuck in to test it just to be sure it’s a bad gpu?
Actually, first thing I’d do would be to check your GPU/Cpu usage. See what’s bottlenecking.
Makes zero difference, tested it a couple of times. Leave it on.
Man, how did you get your i7920 to 4.5ghz? That’s really impressive. My 920 is currently at 4ghz stable with an undervolt. Highest I could do was 4.1, but volts had to be ridiculously high.
1.325v for 4.5Ghz, but we’re moving into summer now so I’ve had to settle for 1.275v 4.4Ghz Took me 2years & I went through more than 12 cpu’s to find it.
Yes, I see that most DX9 games have taken 2-5 fps beating on average.
My situation is a bit different though. I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that I dropped about 30 fps without being able to influence my fps at all by tweaking settings. There’s no way this game was meant to run at 10 fps on my current card with everything set to low.
The beating will vary on a game by game basis. I’m not sure how your 4870 was pulling >45fps? I have tested a HD5850 1G @ 1GHZ core & I was pulling 30-50fps on average @ 1080p. Lower in WvW obviously.
Are you getting 10fps in open world with nothing around? If that’s the case, then yeah you may have other issues. Did you check the GPU core clock is increasing under load?
Well you’ll get a decent boost from DX11 supported games, because the 4870 doesn’t support DX11. But all DX9 games you’ve taken a step backwards:
This will give you a rough idea: Copy/Paste this link, don’t click it.
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2011-entry-level-graphics/compare,2876.html?prod5224=on&prod5311=on
Also, don’t compare other games, it just doesn’t work like that. MMO’s are a different ballgame altogether.

Sounds like watching a 3D movie without the glasses? Must be something to do with your 3D screen. Is there a way to change the screen to 2D?
Asus P6T motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 @2.67GHz
6GB DDR3 ram
600 watt PSU
Good cpu/mobo. Any reason why the 920 isn’t running at 4Ghz? My 920 @ stock totally sucks & I’ve almost trippled my FPS with the 920 @ 4.5.
But anyway, why did you buy a new video card if the 4870 was running it beautifully?
Didn’t mention, i’m running a Phenom II x4 955. It doesn’t SEEM to be a processor bottleneck issue, as reducing graphical configurations in-game does yield an increase in FPS in areas regardless of player activity, it seems. I suppose the increase in visual quality could strain the CPU more, as there’s technically more to render?
Yes, your processor is a HUUUGE bottleneck, especially in GW2. But your pretty much hijacking this thread.
Revelans: Please list the rest of your system specs.
Not trying to hijack the thread, but just wanted to throw this out there. I recently removed a HD4870 and installed a HD7850 with no noticeable increase in performance (across multiple games), and just today tried out a HD7770, again with no real increase in performance.
I’m wondering if this “core issue” might be applicable to this machine?
No, it’s not. The HD7850 = 3 × 4870′s so you’ve most likely got processor bottleneck.
Revelans: You probably should listen to these guy’s & stop trying to justify your bad purchase. You did in fact, downgrade. You may have gained DX11, but you’ve lost a lot of the grunt that the 4870 has, but you already know that.
It “may” run, but your gameplay is going to be VERY poor with that graphics card in any situation. That is not a gaming graphics card whatsoever.
What is your graphics card?
@Shannon.9583: Makes no difference. HT on or OFF, FPS exactly the same. Anyone that says otherwise is full of it.
Thanks to Michael in another thread put it perfectly:
Low frame rate ? GPU processing less frames per second ? low GPU usage ? CPU not fast enough ? GPU idle, waiting for CPU
CPU ~45% load means ? core0 90-100% usage and core1,core2,etc.. only 0-10% usage because they are waiting for core0.
Conclusion:
low framerates = core0 is not fast enough so the other CPU cores and the GPU are waiting for the finalization of core0 tasks.

Ronson: Delta is 100% correct weather you like it or not. If you didn’t notice GW2 is a video game that uses your graphics card A LOT. Your personal opinion how your system should handle GW2 it is totally irrelevant. How you “THINK” it should run, & how it “ACTUALLY” runs are two completely different things, which you’ve already found out.
Other games you play are not Gw2, so stop comparing. It just doesn’t work like that. If your GPU is getting to hot, then fix it. If it’s to loud, then fix it. Don’t blame software for using hardware it’s designed for.
