very nice! so… which i5 and i7 would be the best? since there are so many i5 and i7
and still… an i3 beats the newest octa-cores ?anyways especially the i7 which one are good?
3820
3930K
3960Xthere are so many haha
Intel Core i5 3570K is your best bet. Cheap/highly overclockable & trashes any amd cpu in gaming.
As stated by many others, DO NOT get another amd cpu. You’ll definitely regret it if you do.
Why would you downclock? If your getting Bsod’s/freezing then you’ve got an issue with your pc that needs proper troubleshooting so the real issue can be identified.
Downclocking will only reduce the performance of your pc even further.
Lets sum up that TLDR;
Overclocking increases performance… Ok got it.
PS: The human eye doesn’t see in FPS LMAO! Is a matter of fact, the human eye can easily distinguish the difference between 60 and 120fps.
He just wanted to post his PC specs, lol.
What is funny is that my PC specs is half of him and I play in 30-50 fps range.
What’s also funny is, mine stomps his & I still get FPS dips. So I think a little exaggerating is happening.
Lets sum up that TLDR;
Overclocking increases performance… Ok got it.

Where is this high end rig you speak of? I see a mid/low end laptop.
For the record, 1.6Ghz is actually below minimum requirements…
I know FFXIV is hardcore but seriously, I got it all on max
I ordered a new computer anyways as this one will become a server (money has to roll right lol).New one will be: Newest AMD FX Octa-core, so im sure that would be sufficient IF it was my computer.
Anyways, thanks so much for your answers guys.
Get ready for exactly the same fps… If gaming is your thing, then you’ll need a Quad i5/7 Intel, end of story. Amd totally blow, especially faildozers. No, I’m not an Intel fanboi.. I really do like Amd, but not at this point in time, they just don’t compete.
Well im pretty sure from everywhere I have been reading that its the AMD cores that are getting screwed over. Intel has had many issues, because i also read that the game is CPU intensive and even tho i have 6 cores running at 3.3 ghz, its not enough…..-.-
It’s not that Amd core are getting screwed over. Your getting screwed by Amd.
Check temps of both GPU & CPU, make sure they are not overheating.
What mobile i7 is that Pete?
Wow, thanks for this man. I feel so enlightened! Been searching high & low for a post just like this.
Now.. I can finally rest.
If you computer completely shuts down/black out & reboots my very first thought would be power supply. No doubt about it. Until you’ve tried another power supply stop speculating.
Especially after reading this about the 750C:
The efficiency is about 86% at the maximum, but quickly falls below 80% at low loads.
Which means it’s more like 500-600w. If it’s old it could very well be overheating inside or components in psu’s can easily degrade reducing the quality even further.

Uh, guys, if i were exagerating i couldn’t have played a whole dungeon.
I am telling the truth, i don’t see the point in telling lies on there forums.
Ok man, if you say so. Minimum requirements are there for a reason & your system is only JUST under minimum requirements so it’s not surprising it runs.
But saying “There’s no such thing as minimum requirements” is a bit of a joke? I’d like to see you play this on a Pentium 166MHz (NO MMX) with a Voodoo 2.
Had this to a few times. Unselect Vsycn ingame also set limiter ingame to “Unlimited”. Exit GW2 completely. Then go back into the game & check “Vsync enabled” ingame. Unless your rocking a 120hz screen, any more than 60fps on a 60hz screen you’ll get tearing/choppyness.
Also double check your fps are not being capped in Nv control panel.

I had 18/20 fps in average.
Not a glorious Fps, but a decent one.
Of course, the graphic was all set on LOW (i haven’t even dreamed of setting higher than low lol), but hey, the game runs!
@Killimandros: May i help you?
I had to replace the thermal paste, before the notebook went in thermic protection after 10 minutes of game.
Tonight i had hours of dungeon, and not even a crash.
I’ve got a pc here at EXACTLY minimum requirements which is higher specs than your laptop & I get 5-15fp in cities with an average FPS of around 10. So your exaggerating your fps bigtime which is not surprising because most people do.

Sure, the game runs no real surprise there. However, most people cant game with 0-5fps.
can i upgrade something?
Yes, you can upgrade to a proper gaming desktop.
Hope this helps.
hi everyone, here is my specs…
i3 380M
Amd radeon hd 6370M
4gb ddr3
_
i just want to know, if can play with stable 30 fps…
No, not with that laptop you cant unfortunately.
Hope this helps.

is this good results???i have no idea.
hope you can answer
Your Xfire is working, score is pretty good. Latest drivers? 12.8..
so i guess ordering an intel i7 3770k would make things better for my setup??cause right now, there are no difference if i enable crossfire or not
You need to make sure Xfire is even working before doing anything. Run 3DMark11 & post your result.
And the repair just crashed. Looks like I had no luck, either.
Put/install GW2 on a different/separate hard drive & try again. Cyclic redundancy check error is a good indication your hard drive is on it’s way out.
im using it right now. i have an amd fx8120 cpu and 2 amd hd6970 cards and 16gb ddr ram. but my gpu usage never show over 50% on my cards. they are at default settings. any ideas??
Amd cpu not helping your Xfire setup one bit. Xfire is strong, have been testing it for the last hour & it’s working even better than Sli.
But your going to need >4Ghz i7 Quad to really make them shine.
my fps jumps between 25-60 fps while i run around in lions arch
Lower reflections & shadows a bit. Should smooth it out.
Are we gonna get any Reply from the ANet developers or employee???
What makes you so sure this is an game issue? Doesn’t really sound like a game issue to me.
Have you done any specific stability testing on your pc? Have you check your loaded cpu/gpu temps?
What keyboard are you using?
installing a new processor and a motherboard…. is this something I can do by myself with a youtube video? or should I go find a tech savy friend?
Sure can, may as well get it out of the way this time. Then, next time you upgrade, you don’t need to ask anyone
to CBUZZ.5083. what program do u use in your video??so u can see gpu usage and fps in the top left corner.would be a nice way to check how my crossfire work during playing

If you can overclock that e6400 to 3Ghz you can pretty much double your FPS for free. I’ve already done it on my Minimum Requirements PC
. This is what fixed my Low FPS <Go to youtube.com and find a video> next right click the video and a menu will appear> next click “Settings”> Make sure “Enable Hardware Acceleration” is not check/disabled
What does this have to do with fps in the game?
Why would you disable your hardware acceleration?
It doesn’t do anything. Placebo effect at it’s finest…
Question?
Does GW2 support Xfire/Crossfire/2 x AMD GPu’s ? Lets find out.
Today’s Test Subjects/Hardware:
2 x HD5850 1GB
2560×1600 resolution
Xfire DISABLED:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fhzphgqld38
Xfire ENABLED:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_thlpZhu9E
Conclusion:
With gpu usage at close to 100% the entire time on both cards with Xfire enabled, I can confidently say that Xfire is working perfectly (even better than SLi). I am getting more than DOUBLE the fps when Xfire is enabled when running this game at truly MAXED settings (besides shadow due to bug).
Hope this helps.
I’m glad things work out for you Cbuzz (though I would like to see you post a video of a player heavy event on your setup… try the Charr area), but the +.1GHZ on your setup isn’t really making a difference. There is something wrong with the way this game handles high end GPUs.
EDIT: That last thing was directed at Cbuzz.
What’s the point of this?
Seems pretty good to me. Sli working perfectly with excellent gpu utilization.
If your Gpu’s are not being utilized, then your cpu is slowing you down. That simple mate.
Unfortunatley no, it is not that simple.
I have a 3.6GHz i7 CPU and its not remotely close to being maxxed out either in computation or data transfer speed.
The issue is clearly the game and possibly also the drivers.
During the first week, the FPS was very high, though it didn’t use both GPUs very well.
Now the FPS is down, so something has changed in the game code, and GPU usage is lower than it was, and CPU usage is about the same.
Yes, it is….
Try monitoring your cpu/gpu usage while playing. In WvW or big cities (especially Lions Arch) your cpu usage will max out & your GPU usage will drop. In open areas with not much going on, your GPU will max wile your cpu usage will drop.
One will ALWAYS be slowing the other one down. There is no perfect combination of cpu/gpu where both get used 100%. Because of the vastly different situations in gaming, one will always utilized more than the other.
He does not need a newer system. Have you not read other comments?
People with super powerful computers are having problems.
The game is clearly badly programmed and you just need to look at the forums they are full of people experiencing very low FPS on some very high end computers.
It is developers like ANet that cause pc players to move over to consoles.
Why should we have to upgrade our computers when we all clearly meet and exceed the minimum specs that they advertise on the back of the game.
Sorry I don’t agree with your post at all.
First of all, most people with high end computers aren’t having problems. Just because you see some posts about it on forums doesn’t mean everyone is having problems.
Go check out the forums of any MMO. There are always people complaining about performance issues. The complaints never end.
I’ve seen the complaints from players with high end computers and they seem to be compatibility/driver/SLI/configuration problems. Their problems aren’t the same as people with ancient computers experiencing low FPS.Second, no amount of patches or optimization will make WvW run smoothly on old dual core machines. I suggest that if you want to partake in WvW with smooth FPS, upgrade to a modern quad core CPU. This magic fix all you seem to be waiting for is never going to come. There are simply far too many calculations your CPU has to do during massive WvW battles. No amount of optimization is going to change that.
Oh and meeting the MINIMUM requirements doesn’t guarantee anything. It doesn’t mean that you will be able to enjoy every aspect of the game with enjoyable FPS.
Minimum means you will be able to install the game on your computer and run the game.
Quoted for truth.
Cbuzz how about contributing instead of just calling everyone a noob? People having issues with the game, help them instead of just insulting them. Stop trying to drag this community down to the murky depths of BF3’s
If you have nothing constructive to offer, then shut up :P
I’ve given plenty of advice if you care to do a search & I don’t call EVERYONE a noob you exaggerator… Only those that deserve it.
If you rock up with your 2Ghz core 2 duo/7800gt combo & sook about how badly the game is optimized. I’m going to call you a noob… Capiche?
Also, some of the people I see offering advice (or pointing the finger claiming poor programming/optimization) clearly don’t have any kind of understanding about computers, processors, gpu’s, basically everything IT related.
(edited by Cbuzz.5083)
Ever since I bought the game, I’ve been having random FPS drops and I checked my GPU usage and it drops from 100% down to around 20/30% every so often and even more often when lots is going on.
I get 40+ FPS on average and down to 25/30 FPS when a lot is going on, but it goes down to around 10 or lower FPS when the drops happen no matter what is happening. I’ve also got a i7, 6 gb ram, and a 560m so before you say my computer sucks…it doesnt.
I would love for someone to solve this for me, ‘cause even though I can deal with it, it’d be nice for it to disappear.
Laptop eh? 2Ghz cpu as well?…

As Crazedmonk.9061 pointed out in this thread disabling crossfire fixed the problem.
Any wonder why crossfire breaks the game as of today (Sept. 13)?
Was Xfire even working before? Does GW2 even support Xfire? Did you monitor both GPU’s while running GW2 to ensure both were being utilized prior to today?
Not sure if it was officially supported or even “working” but it didn’t make the game unplayable until today.
Before today I could run the game at max settings while achieving 60+ FPS. Today it just grinded to a halt at 5FPS on lowest settings.
So as of now, it seems it definitely DOES NOT like crossfire as to before it seemed to not care.
No, you can’t truly max this game with your pc. Mine destroys yours & I still can’t truly max this game @ a constant >60fps.
Perhaps you were over-estimating exactly how many FPS you were getting before?
Unfortunately I’m hovering in the 30-50FPS range with settings maxed out, supersampling on.
Hopefully Nvidia will release a SLI profile soon, as right now the game is essentially treating both GPUs as one (ie. 50%/50% GPU usage, 40/60% etc)
As far as CPU goes…I’m running an AMD 1100T @ 3954mhz. I noticed the game seems to very well multithreaded —- almost always using 4 of my CPU cores at 70-90%.
TLDR: Unfortunately Nvidia FINALLY resleased a new WHQL driver just today, and it included not GW2 updates. Both Nvidia and AMD are likely working on it though, just like they’re working on Dark Souls.
Here’s to hoping!
Err, Sli has been supported since launch & is working perfectly. I confirmed this weeks ago. Even TRi SLi is working 100%.

You haven’t presented any facts, only gossip.
My GW2 works swimmingly well.
That would require work…
update pls Arenanet as requested in first post.
How about you list your system specs so we can troubleshoot? Just because your an Engineer doesn’t really mean jack squat.
I love the people who are like “buy a new video card”….or “upgrade your RAM” to the very same people who ran the game perfectly just a few days ago. Clearly if a large number are experiencing FPS issues who were fine before…the issue is not on their end. I may not be a computer specialist, .but that is simple logic.
As above, best not comment if your full noob.
But the game was running perfectly for me at max settings… until today. Now it’s unplayable at the lowest settings.
My specs:
• i7 2600k
• Win 7 64 bit
• 8GB RAM
• 2x Radeon 6950s in CrossfireShould I go run to the store and upgrade!?
Obviously you have other issues. YES WITH YOUR PC BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!! Go start your own thread instead of hijacking…
2Core Intel processor… what kind? I definately recommend lowering Shadows and report back. This game is more CPU dependent than relative games but if you drop shadows you should see a noticeable improvement. That said, 4 cores is the way to go.
Don’t encourage him to go buy new hardware. It seems that everybody who has no clue of what’s going on with the game are tossing around advices, telling people to upgrade. ‘’crap setup’’ is one of the popular terms. I suggest waiting for updates that will improve your performance with time. In the meanwhile you can pick up another game. In my case I have nothing to play and it’s just painful waiting.
Best not comment if your full noob. Op is running current gen GPu with a 5yr old processor & is wondering why his FPS are horrible? You bunch of morons coming in here saying it’s Anet’s fault… Jesus Christ….

TO THE OP: Your processor is way to old to be running a Core2 with a GTX660. As you’ve already discovered, your fps are awful. You processor feeds the graphics card information, if it can’t keep up then your choking it. Yes, you need to upgrade your processor if you want better performance. That simple..

Wait, you went from 3.3Ghz 6core to 3.2Ghz quad core?? W… T… F…
Also, who the hell told you to get another Amd cpu if GW2 is your game? They need to be shot…
Because Amd blows for gw2 ? So wrong…Fx 8120 @ 4.6,and No problems whatsoever except my Sli not working properly, other then that what im seeing from the forums i have higher and more stable fps then alot of people with intels that claim to be high end yet run the game like crap.
Your awesome 8120 still doesn’t beat a 1055T@4Ghz which still blows hardcore for GW2 & pretty much gaming in general. How does that make you feel?
To add, it doesn’t even beat a 2500K@Stock in gaming….
Gaming on low end laptops is not gonna happen. Your fps are spot on for your hardware. No surprise there…
Hope this helps.
Right now I’m settling on buying a gtx 550 and 500w power supply and a Intel Core i3 Processor i3-540 3.06GHz 4MB LGA, how would those specs handle gw2?
Go for it. Lightyears ahead of those parts in Op.

One last thing, when I was setting it up since I have two ports that my monitor can plug into I “guessed” at which one, my hubby said it shoudn’t matter. The instructions said one would be capped but it wasn’t. I plugged it into the bottom one? Would this make any difference at all? Since my monitor turned on and worked I figured it was ok? (Noob hat now on and waiting for LOL’s)
Just so long as it was your video card you plugged it into & not onboard graphics (if your motherboard has onboard) it won’t matter if it’s the top or bottom DVi port.
Also, your system is not overclocked, it’s running stock speed. So if they sold it as overclocked they are lying.
Rest of your system looks pretty good (besides SLI being disabled)

Did this come pre-overclocked? Or did you clock it yourself? If it was pre-overclocked it was prob done by a noob & you’ll have to reset defaults. What resolution are you running?
