Ur normal tab targeting will prioritize gates/walls over actual players….like wwat?!!?!? Same with target closest enemy….if the gate/wall is closer (and its gonna be if ur near it) it targets that. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU MAKE GATES/WALLS PART OF THE TARGET HOTKEYS? AND WHY ON EARTH ARE THEY PRIORITIZED TARGETS!?!?!?

And thats not all! Both keys will prioritize any enemies within a 360 degree radius now! So rather than target the guy infront of you it will target the guy who isn’t in ur los first!
Maybe for target nearest enemy someone out there will think it acceptable (honestly it is never acceptable imo…if i cant see if why should i be able to target it?!??!), but for both normal tab targetting and the other to function this way..!?!! NO! Maybe if my turn 180degrees button worked more than 40% of the time (and didn’t set my attacks on cd 60% of the time…why i can’t que up turn 180degrees and my next attack is beyond my understanding), or if I could turn to fire backwards while moving instead of just while standing still it might be okay.

The only way to target something reliable is to click on it. Which is easier said than done in wvsw where you have tons of things getting infront of ur target, ur targets porting around everywhere, ur targets stealthing and breaking ur target lock, ur targets moving out of ur los and breaking target lock…..why should moving out of my immediate los break target lock and yet I can retarget an enemy that is behind me without even knowing its there!?!??

Even better the target hot keys have a shorter range than ur actual click to target! If you see some1 running towards you from the distance you can ‘eventually’ target them when they get to a certain distance with the mouse (thats another problem…the max targeting range is too short for incoming targets), if you pound on tab or ur other hotkeys though they won’t register until the enemy is a couple units away from firing range.

OH! and there’s another problem! Alot of the time the targetting hotkeys don’t even register!! You can pound on the key and it won’t recognize the enemy…..it will only recognize that stupid pve bird and the maybe the dumb wall….but not the thing standing there firing at you.

And as well half the time I don’t even know what I have targetted without planting a marker on it! The target you have…‘targetted’ is so indistinct from the millions of other parts of the red blob on ur screen.

Its like looking at a where’s waldo picture, holding a gun, firing the gun, and the bullet auto-aiming itself at waldo.
Its become the most backwards system I’ve ever seen in a game…

The Ridiculous Mashup of CD/BP/ET/Kaineng

1. Why were they mashed with CD? CD was already huge to begin with, it seems like a bad idea to mash 3 servers onto an already huge server. The population/participation rate of the 3 smaller servers is also going to go up with this change, from transfers and old players returning cause of the high population. So those 3 smaller servers on their own ain’t gonna be so small anymore….
Plus how do you decide which is a small server? If they decided it based on participation during the past 2 months then it might be very very low if nothing changed for those servers or they got the short end of the straw again. If they based it on total server population (even those that don’t play wvsw) then that number would be less prong to giant jumps and better to use as a guideline.

2. Why were they matched against EB/DH?!??!? DH was third place for every single week minus one during the first pairing period (2 MONTHS). EB was first place every single week for those 2 months but they were the ‘guest’ server. Why wouldn’t you put 2 host servers or one of the giant T1 servers and a small server against this 4 alliance behemoth?!??!? ITS CD!!!! They are HUuuuuuuuuGe! CD vs Eb/DH on its own would have been a balanced fight probably. Neither Eb nor DH on its own could ever stand up to CD…..and DH is weak as can be from the pairing period, EB also has been weakened a bit although nowhere near as much as DH. Dh is the host server and yet EB could beat it easily in its shattered state. Cd is stronger than ever from that 2 month pairing period. HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? Was anet expecting 4 communities randomly being shoved together to be a handicap? DO they not know their own game!!!!? WvsW is setup in a way where: NUMBERS WIN PPT EVERY TIME. Also take into account the coverage periods of all 4 of these servers….they all have different highs points! Meaning their total 24/7 coverage period is INSANE.

Its like anet learned absolutely nothing during those 2 months. What matchups were you eyeing exactly to come up with this nonsense we see today?

SF/GoM/FC against DH/EB is actually doable and arguably ‘fair’ as a matchup. Even though they outnumber us we have enough experienced members to offset this and put up a decent fight some of the time (even if it is a losing battle). I could see us beating them some weeks after we get our kittens together.

No invulnerability for downed players

Please please please!!!! Once you realize how great this is in pvp…..

It will make everyone happy! People will die faster! There will be less latency! Smaller groups will have more opportunities to whittle down larger zergs! Large zergs that trample their foes won’t have any survivors making it out alive (cause before they would go down and cancel any heavy aoe/traps placed on them cause of their invulnerability)!

Everyone wins!

I guess…..except if you happen to be in a lower skill bracket and rely on teammates to heal you when downed. Or alternatively you use a glass build with the intent that ur heals come from getting revived when downed.
Getting downed would punish ur teammates more, whereas before it would actually buff alot of them to ridiculous amounts. So I mean getting downed alot gives ur party alot of combat buffs presently (they cancel high damage aoe attacks as well remember)….so those buffs would be diminished.

Its kinda like: playing in a normal mmo or any game, having a party member decapitate himself on the spot randomly, and then as the blood trickles down everyone in the group getting buffed and the headless guy coming back to life 2 seconds later.

But I mean…….everyone can change how they play a bit to make it so they still win from this change. I think that qualifies it as a win-win still.

And then…hopefully if this change comes one day we’ll see rez’ing dead bodies go away too…..I mean can you picture them including rez’ing dead bodies to pvp?
I can….and it wouldn’t be as horrible as you might think. It would just play exactly like wvsw lol. Maybe then pvpers will make us see how stupid wvsw combat can be.

And maybe then we can have the stupid ooc nerfed from wvsw too (where you walk out of an aoe and you regen from 1% to 100% hp in 3 seconds). Just a crazy idea but maybe it can mimick whats ooc is like in pvp……just crazy idea i know. Just how easy and stupid it is to get ooc when you run in a large group….i cannot begin to explain to pvpers or myself why it exists in this fashion.

I agree with the OP. It’s really stupid and tiresome how many female skins are designed to be ridiculously revealing. I mean the panty textures are bad….why would you make skins that draw attention to this?…. Right? Am I right?

I mean you don’t allow heaveyset chicks in this game. At least allow the skinny ones to run around in armour that looks the part. People should be able to make a female that looks like a guy with lvl 80 armour skins (right now u can only do it with the crap skins).

Shrine Buffs Problem

‘Ur commanders’ don’t use zero fall damage or fire portal cause they have no idea how to play the map. That’s not the game’s fault.

IMpossible to rely on? Well it takes real effort to get them all inplace at the same time. The reward for doing so is rather lackluster tbh but if it was any better ‘some’ people would complain nonstop for months to have them removed.

If ur smart you are always directing ur squad to the nearest shrine you pass by. It gives 140% base movement speed to all ur members. WHich is a fairly significant edge for combat. Whether or not ur server puts in the effort to retain the shrines is another story. Our pairing has no problem getting all 3 shrines active. Its gonna differ depending on ur server obviously. SHould anet balance it based on server use and commander competency? The answer is no they should not. Its gonna fall on you and others in ur server to teach people how to use them.

Fractals have become so stupid. They obviously know about all the exploits, and choose not to bother fixing them. There’s seriously a rule preventing us from talking about them openly on the forums? That’s a laugh…

Well since the playerbase according to ur voting system likes the paired world system and wants half the servers to lose all their identity….why don’t you just rename all the servers? Then everyone can enjoy the ‘new start’ feeling that was shoved down 1/4 of the playerbase’s throats. I mean….the people voted! They said they were okay with this kind of stuff! All is fair…so how about you just…

More on topic : I would love to leave HoD and dispose of my remaining loyalty to ehmry bay into the shredder. I would be the FIRST to join the new world and help start a new community. I LOVE THIS IDEA, especially with the prospect of it not taking diamonds and gold I don’t have. I mean if you had an alternative way to change servers like by using badges I would fully support that…..that way only experienced wvsw players are the ones transferring. For this new world you might considering charging badges upfront for the first batches of players….this would slow the transfer rate and allow you to monitor and control how many people and how experienced of players join the new world.
Alternatively I’m sure if you charged 1000 gems per transfer you would make alot of real world cash. People would spend for this and still kiss your feet

Right, and I guess we can’t make any conclusive statements about someone who goes through other people’s posting history and makes a thread about it….

Forums exist as an avenue to complain about stuff. If you only post “I love this game and this is why” threads you get removed/kicked from most forum communities. That’s because these threads serve no real purpose. Forums exist to be constructive in the sense that people who don’t like something, can go there and discuss it amongst the community. The people who post thread after thread of discontent are probably huge fans of the game that just saw it go downhill and either: don’t know how to quit, still choose to hang in there hoping for the future, or actually really enjoy the game more than they hate it. If someone is going to complain consistently over a long period of time, it shows love for the game not hate.

In terms of this game, we realize the kind of hate and discord amongst the community BECAUSE: We share (or sympathize with) it to some degree, we see multiple people posting the same kind of complaints.

Double oil damage

-You can be pulled from the oil pot to ur death
-can’t use ur utility skills while on the oil: stability, damage reduction, condi clear
-aoe gets through the oil shield
-oil shield acts as a block, and unblockables can get through it….unlike golemn shield
-after activating the oil shield it puts the other ability on a long kitten cd
-the aoe radii of the oil abilities is too small considering the other points
-oil does kitten damage to rams and siege and players
-oil 2 is a worthless skill (cripple), make it drip down across the gate like dragon banner5
-the range of the oil is too small considering the other points
-the supply destruction rate of the oil is too slow considering the other points.
-What good is damage reduction. when traited for oil, when u can be pulled and suffer both fall damage and kittenrapier and always suffer condi and aoe dmg.

Then you’re just as out of touch with your players as everyone thinks you are. On that note, my guild is down to running WvW once a week or even less because of the lack of your team caring about how the players want to play the game. Every higher skilled GVG guild has quit the game because of it and almost all that is left is what you wanted there to be, just pug zergs. But by all means, it’s your game, keep on displeasing your players and driving them away since you clearly know what the players want more than they do.

I don’t know how to display my contempt for something like that in words that have real meaning to you. I find it hard to believe that all your relatives were really addicted to the extent that they couldn’t choose ‘not’ to get wasted once in their lifetime. Ya I’m sure for some people it is a real addiction like any nicotine product. The same can be said for pretty much anything in this world though.

Whatever, sorry for your loss if this was real. But it was inappropriate to rant about it here….but maybe you said what you had to, and that’s fine.

Being a warrior is by definition: to never be scared.

If we stuck around in the class before the buffs, we definitely aren’t scared of any nerfs….it won’t be worse than it was before (until the next expansion x.x)

If I had to be scared of something, it would be of every other class getting more damage reduction and evade/kite/heal/sustain/invulnerability kitten sandwiches.

And then you get all ur friends to come on the forums and like it…
Then they will listen and fix it for you. SO you know….maybe I’ll start doing that too. Forget logic, forget common sense. Whining = winning when it comes to anet these days…..a sad day indeed. There isn’t going to be a gamemode left if you keep doing things for the sake of fun…..speaking of fun you went out of ur way to prevent transformations while using banners. THAT WAS MY DEFINITION OF FUN AND NOW ITS GONE. Taking away fun for the sake of being mean, and adding fun for the sake of ruining game mechanics……its not really a good policy. If ur transformed while using a banner ur easier to kill…ALOT easier to kill…it was there for fun….it doesn’t ruin or affect anything in a negative way.

On a very serious note: I would very much be interested in the REASONING they used for justifying this massive change. I mean 100 to 50%!?!??!?!?!! I can’t see any rationale at all other than the one I outlined at the start….please enlighten me anet as to the ‘real’ reason….cause all I can see is the reason i came up with above. There is no justification for this at all even when it comes to encouraging smaller groups sieges.

why do raid discriminate classes?

attended one of those ‘training’ raid things that are apparently a thing. since i wanted to just try out a raid and see what the big deal was.

Upon joining they asked me which class i was playing…i said warrior. And then they were all on about how they probably have too many warriors (3-4 ttl), and that they needed tempests. I asked them why it mattered and they harped on about how they wanted to get to show everyone the final part of the raid. Then they suddenly said "ty "name"" and kicked me.

So…….just kinda flabberghasted by that. Supposed to be training…for fun and learning and kicks. Regardless of how good a player I am though i’m not allowed to join cause I’m a warrior…? isn’t the goal of raids to do as much damage as possible within a timelimit? warriors don’t do damage? tehy don’t provide daamge for the team? they don’t tank? they don’t have condi? like….screw ur meta its training and i want to play. As long as I’m a good player and running a fully geared char I should be allowed to play in a training session….no? i feel i got kicked cause other players are inadequate at fighting…and they need supports and the proper meta so everyone can get away with pressing ‘1’ to win.

I mean is that really good design to create a game where to play in the different modes you have to have multiple chars and classes? thought the point of hot was to expand on each class so they each fill enough roles that they can be relevant in any part of the game.

tldr: Mentors are lame if that’s how this has got to go down.

How to win each week in WvsW- Robot Manual

Robotics Manual Section 1:

EBG:

Positions Regulated:

-Tag (1)
-Blob (~)
-Scout (5)
-Accountant (1)

Preparation:

1. Take control of your corner (4 towers + 1 keep)

2. Insert emergency waypoints on the keep and towers

3. Have all robots on the map join under 1 tag, to create a single blob (offense).

4. Five of these robots are chosen to operate as scouts (defense)

5. One robot is chosen to act as Accountant (economy).

Operation:

-All robots regardless of role operate on a 20 minute shift. Any robot not prepared/able to operate on such a basis is sent to The borderlands. Exception: a 5 minute break on all blob activities will be applied when the tag is replaced.

Offense:

-Blob controlled by the tag, everyone stacks on tag and stacks aoe attacks on the tag’s location. The Blob moves in the most direct fashion possible across the map (straight lines) capping everything along the way. If the blob is too small then it redirects its route and heads in a different direction. The blob exists as a single entity, it lives and dies as one.

Defense:

-Controlled by the scouts, and supplemented by the blob when needed.

Economy:

Regulated by the accountant, to allow sustainable play and upkeep, to conduct all operations at peak performance.

Positions:

Tag:

-Tag’s responsibilities include: leading the blob, placing all siege, placing all food/utility/banner buffs at the start of each shift, electing a replacement before they shut down. They are also responsible for communicating all information visually to the extent that even deaf robots know exactly what the intent is. An ‘Aid’ may be elected by the tag to fulfill this or any of their other duties on their behalf should it ever be needed. Special Usage: Attack symbol using map symbol, coloured circles 1-8 to indicate siege placement and attack points. Basic example: Blob wants to set out to hit SMC from their keep>place attack symbol at smc on intended point of initial attack> upon arrival place coloured symbol (1-8) to indicate you will be dropping siege there and robots should prep for speed build > usage of broadcast messages to remind blob members of their duties.
The tag is given the ‘cache’ (all siege/food/utility/banner buff) at the start of their command. They pass this ‘cache’ over to the accountant at the end of their session.

Blob:

Blob members are responsible for stacking on tag, fighting on tag, resurrecting parts of the blob, building siege with supply, and following orders from the tag when given.

Blob members are required to pay a lump sum of 30 silver/20-min-shift to the designated accountant when they are finished their last shift. Ex) a blob member completing 3 shifts must pay 90s to the accountant upon removal from the blob.

Scouts:

Station 1 scout at each outermost tower. 1 scout is kept on standby to look after the keep and other 2 towers. Remaining 2 scouts are sent out to stalk each bl’s blob (should they have one). At the end of their shift they may continue another shift or notify the blob they need replacing, at which point the blob elects a new robot to take their place. Scouts get paid 2 gold per shift by the accountant. Scouts place defensive siege, traps, pull waypoint, and communicate information about enemy movements to the tag.

Scouts are provided with a ‘defensive cache’ (siege) from the accountant. These are to be given to the replacement once the scout resigns. When refills are necessary, the accountant is to be contacted by the scout.
Scouts are required to have 5 active siege disablers/supply removers on them at the start of each shift.

The accountant:

-Payed from the excess of each blob operation. Payment is a minimum of 1gold and maximum of 5 gold per shift. More work = more robots = more payment.

-They collect money from blob members.
-They pay the scouts at the end of each 20mins
-They buy siege/food/utility to manage the cache
-Accountant receives the cache from each expired commander and refills it with newly collected good and sends it to the newly designated commander.
-Accountant is charged with electing a new accountant at the end of their session and passing all excess funds to their replacement.
-Accountants are given authority to increase or decrease the blob fee per shift (to a maximum of 40s/shift and minimum of 0s/shift), based on too many or too few funds being available.

Accountants are allowed free reign to be anywhere on the map, so long as they finish their duties. Given the duties are extensive, most accountants should not expect to be engaging incombat during their shift.

Agree with the OP, RUN! Run run RUN! Far far away from this game. The old game is long gone, run while you still can. If you stick with it, you won’t find what you want. So its good that you decided to throw in the towel. Recommend others who feel the same way as the OP do the same.

I’ve done all the map exploration in the game for HOT…..and made an Hot legendary which means I’ve grinded the new zones over and over.
HoT: you start it and ur like wtf is this this map is insanely all over the place nonsense, you grind it out and force urself to figure out everything, you get about 2 hours of joy out of verdant brink after you udnerstand it, then you get bored of it completely and utterly since its so easy to complete the meta to t4 and all that….it becomes a really really boring grind full of stupid pve events that are way too long (build a million tents…..plant a million bombs…..collect a million scraps). The other maps its the same thing basically….although they are all significantly more boring that verdant brink. Tangled depths is insane….honestly there is no real reason to explore everything in it cause there aren’t any super hard bosses or enemies there to take down. Its just adds all over the place in a maze…..with no real rewards outside of mastery points. The dragons stand is a horrid meta….it really is. One giant meta map that is just done really badly imo. Its a farmfest…you spam 1 in a group (if you get into a map) for 1-2 hours and thats that. There isn’t really any inticing armour or weapon skins or fashion war stuff to get out of it…its just salvaging yellows for ecto’s spam like in auric basin.

T;DR: When you finally start to understand and like the news zone….is the moment you start to get bored of them. And then there’s literally nothing to do..cause they make the zones so noob friendly. The LS zones are nicer but they are twice as noob friendly as teh hot ones….so same problem only gets worse. And raids are supposed to be teh solution? Don’t make me laugh. in raids you have to follow a specific set of instructions to fight a boss or you all just spontaneously die all the time. Its stupid. Why can’t there just be a giant fight zone where even the best players in teh game can fight and get wiped fair and square if they aren’t careful, and the harder you fight the more loot you get. Why is that so hard?

Hate HoT. Was terrible for the game.

All I remember was the whole “now you have the tools to play classes the way you want to, we did this by giving them options or some crazy stuffs like that”. In reality its: we added a new trait line to each class and you have to choose it if you want to be viable in the new game…..meaning you lose 1 of the other trait lines when making your build. And if you don’t play the game the right way, you aren’t meta, and the other elite trait lines of the other classes will steamroll you.

…options….the expansion really nailed it gj.
Really you just replaced the old meta with a new one of the same design…only now you require HoT to play most of the old content. And the new zones and events of HoT were pretty much just taking existing gw2 things and stamping them with a gian HoT logo so now normal players are geared off from playing those things without sucking.

Remove Oakhearts or Remove Rally

For anyone who doesnt know oakhearts have a ton of hp, rallying off them is something you cannot do in downed state unless a ton of attacks/damage has been directed at them beforehand. They are also out of the way from any objectives, fighting near them is a choice.

This is clearly a learn to play issue. Did you get binded by their roots too? lol. Dodge 1 second AFTER they slam the ground and u will avoid the roots. You ever played on eotm solo? The ai and npc’s there are like oakhearts x2 in their mechanics…..it takes some actual thought and skill to take down the ai there unlike in wvsw. You’d be freaking out if they implemented that kind of ai into wvsw

Food and nourishment, to me, is lackluster and cheesy.
Frankly, I’d rather them remove food and nourishment and balance it accordingly. Seriously, was the last time you did raids or wvw without food or nourishment? On top of that, the game is beyond easy already, food just further negates any diffucult content.

You have 0 reason to not like the OP’s idea. Ur problems are with food itself. Here someone is offering a way to improve upon food without any further negative impact. And you are posting about how food should be removed from the game. I suggest making ur own Opening rather than piggybacking, since it subtracts from discussion of the topic at hand.
Besides food is one, if the only, stats in the game you can mix and match on the fly. Ur builds rely on static gear choices that can’t be changed without considerable investment. I mean food should be celebrated for raising the customization level of all builds. But ur complaints are with how easy the game is and the fact that more stat sources are making it worse. That’s a design choice anet made. If someone needs help with content….buying a boost of some kind to get through the content is more than fair. I mean the best option here for some1 like you is to actually increase the effectiveness of foood (and decrease is availability)…..and increase the difficulty of game content. That way people who need it can opt for food at times they get stuck. While you and the others can have ur game difficulty.

Heroics + Big spender daily

Big spender daily needs to be changed so heroics also trigger it. Right now it’s just badges of honour like the old system. I shouldn’t have to buy worthless basic siege with precious badges to trigger it when I have 2k heroics to spend on superiors.

Oh and goodjob on changing heroics. I’ve been spending them like mad upping my dwindling siege reserves….it really beats spending gold and making me feel like a sap for putting more money in than I get out. Thankyou for that fix it was very much appreciated.

I KNOW!! Everyone tells me I’m crazy as well when I bring this up! I don’t get it!!!! I really don’t understand how this isn’t a big deal. For most communities this would be the biggest priority and issue to fix in wvsw….instead we are running around complaining about that player being bigger than the other player, and that player having more bling than that other player, and that player offending the other player’s made-up sensibilities.

So, YOU added more boon duration

With the new episode comes two things in particular that might/should be of concern to some people.

A sigil that provides +9 boon duration to 25 stacks on kill. ttl of 9(25) = 241 concentration = about 15-16% boon duration increase

And more important a new utility that provides +100 vitality/toughness/(not sure what the crystal one is….healing?) With convert 10% of the listed value (vit/toughness/heal) into concentration. I shouldn’t have to explain how high this value can go if some1 is spec’d with existing dire/tank/healer stats. Ur looking at 15-20% boon duration increases with many of these stat’d classes.

The main build these have significance in is large zergs and fight groups. Boons are still the lifeblood of a zerg even with the former share nerfs…..increasing their duration is gonna have significant impact on the overall tank of enemy zergs. Theres also my own personal concern that it will make classes such a mesmer and their quickness share…..even more ridiculous and one-sided in its play (they will remain the trump cards for any group).

Do you think adding 30% (15+15) boon duration to the roles of classes in wvsw is gonna have a large impact? I do.

I would argue that boons are currently placed heavily in favour of defense over their offensive statistics.

In the current meta, more boon duration increases only serve to increase the defense of large groups making them even harder to pickoff/deter. More stability means being able to revive downed players easier and stay grouped easier…..I’m not gonna go through all the the boons, u get the idea. Might is the main offensive boon and most groups already run 25 stacks which is the cap….so the impacts of a boon duration increase arguably ain’t gonna increase a group’s offensive power any.

Many boons such as quickness will have a chance to shine even brighter now. This is mainly aimed at mesmers. THis will make pve cleave a complete cake walk for large tanky zergs that otherwise might stall or delay on an objective’s lord (at which point they risk being overrun if they aren’t large enough to sit there all day). Boon mesmers alrdy hit something ridiculous like 20 seconds of quickness using timewarp…..provided to 10 people.

My point is that larger groups will have an even easier time with these tools inplace. And I hope that the developers are aware of this, and monitor it in such a way where they are willing to introduce more offensive tools to balance it out.

Summary: Don’t expect the meta to get any easier for smaller groups. We have evolved/devolved into very much 2 groups: The coordinated 5-10 man group that remains an effective cap and fighting force that can fight things twice its size if deployed effectively; and the GIANT 15-50 man large group that reigns supreme over all beings and obstacles. The game is very much about building these 2 units, and deploying/choosing them based on available resources for the purposes of gaining the most PPT.

Fix the Exploits! Should be #1 priority

What I wish to see in the next patch notes:

Fixed:
-people shooting projectiles through walls/gates/structures
-you can no longer place siege ‘inside’ (literally) walls/gates/objects to shield them from other siege/player attacks


What I personally see as rather flawed and poses little debate of needing to be fixing:
-Arrow carts as long as they are not obstructed by objects in the sky, FIRE ON EVERYTHING IN THEIR CIRCLE AOE RADII. This means that if I aim at a wall and the aoe reaches overtop of that wall onto the ground, THE ARROWS ALSO HIT THE GROUND not just the WALL.

Trying to defend against anything you can’t fight without walls/gates/structures/siege, is currently a waste of time and effort when they use all the exploits against you. Especially with how powerful catapults and rams are against walls and gates. There are literally armies of revenants and rangers who in a matter of seconds shoot through the walls and clear all the defenses you might setup. Elementalists and all that long range junk is fair game in WvW, shooting through walls and using them for cover isn’t….it’s like the attackers have slowly stolen the defenders’ advantages since HoT was released. I had a DH with bow at stonemist stand on the outer wall and just fire his bow at me while I was manning the high cannon on the inner. Every 3 hits I had to leave and heal. He was wrecking the cannon and me solo by firing a bow from an insane distance (if u factor in height). I’ve actually never seen 1 person do that much dmg to a cannon so easily. I melee cannons and can’t even do that much dmg running zerker gear on a warrior with a Gs. He just sat on the outer wall firing his bow at the cannon and killed it in about 10 hits. Could down me easily in 3-4 richochet hits and i was running a moderate tank build on my warrior. This is ridiculous!! And it made me ragequit it was so stupid. But I don’t care! Those aren’t part of my request! I’m requesting the stuff that everyone knows deep down is broken! Fix exploits and I’ll live with the crazy guardians and everything else!

Unlocking Commander's Wings of War

Everytime there is a fashion show question you answer. Anytime there is a bug/glitch/gameplay problem, is dead silence…….

Can you guys get into the habit of expanding or switching your answering to at least bugs/glitches/exploit as well? Don’t think it will hurt that much to admit when there at least ‘might’ exist a bug….plus we can help you find them if you do this.

You keep adding new fashion content that intentionally has bugs which you address over time…? So you can look proactive about the mode without tackling any real issues? That’s what I would do anyways.

Hai,

You might find it worthwhile to ask this in the warrior section of the forums….that forgotten place.

Anyways ill help you out since i main warrior. You’ll have to help me/us out a bit though and list what class you want to use and what kinda build you want to use.

IN GENERAL THOUGH:
5 things to talk about: the first 3 are the types of builds meta warriors use, and the other 2 are condi and power warriors damage types.

1. Ur standard melee warrrior is generally either spec’d for countering power, condi, or is a hybrid for countering both (and thus a bit weaker at countering power/condi in general).

As you listed: a warrior built for fighting power users has a ton of heals. Infact this is by far the most OP warrior variant you can run across if you don’t use condi. Best counter, and infact its hardcounter, is condition damage. Failing that though, don’t stun the warrior….since that just gives it ridiculous heals, tank, adrenaline. Kite the warrrior with ranged weapons. ANd above all else: have a stability in ur gearset. These warriors hate stability, it counters a large portion of their gimmick combo’s.

2. If the warrior is spec’d to counter condi damage…..then power builds are best to use against him. It becomes a very similar case to the one stated above. If you are a condition user though you need to be aware of what berserker stance is, the fact it has a 60s cd, and the fact that it applies resistance 3x over 10 or so seconds. The other one is healing signet the main heal of all warriors, know that is can give a 6s resistance on use. The other things some warriors use is signet of stamina, its alot rarer these days, but it means they will dodge alot and it can cleanse all conditions on them upon use (it has a cast time). And the most important thing to be aware of is cleansing ire….which is a trait spec that gets rid of most condition on the warrior each time they use their F1 burst. In general when they enter berserk mode they will have ALOT of F1 bursts in rapid succession. Dodging their f1 bursts will negate the condi clean and their adrenal health heal.

3.The hybrid damage mitigation warriors can be taken down the same way as the others, mainly through kiting and wearing down their invulnerabilities (whatever they chose as their own). Generally this is 2x endure pains, and 1x berserker stance + rousing resilience.

4. Kiting is key to defeating warriors, they have long kitten cd’s on their invulerabilities….and they are only powerful because of these invulnerabilities and their heavy stuns. Make them proc their berserker stance/endure pains and kite them when they do….then move in for the kill once they are used up. In general all warriors have 5 second weapon swaps as well….so they will also be able to condi clear 1 or more conditions on each swap. And in general when fighting a berserker, as soon as they glow red….kite or double dodge. Warriors have access to headbutt on a 20 second cd or 25? (dont remember) which has a shortish range. You can often guess when they will use the headbutt and dodge beforehand. ONce a warrior uses a gap closer towards you….they generally imediately try to headbutt, so just dodge/block/dash from them.

5. Melee warrior also deals either power or condi damage in and of itself.
When fighting condition spec’d warriors….look to see if they are using a bow or not. If they aren’t, kite them. Condition warriors generally have a sword MH on them, so they have a bit more movement speed going on. They have an easier time running away from fights as well as closing the gaps. Bow warriors will generally try to tie you down and get you in their bow’s fire field…..just walk out of it and fight them from a distance if you can (if they are running MH sword you don’t have to worry so much about their melee set’s damage, so you can just melee them generally provided you have a stability to counter their stuns).

In terms of preventing them from running/getting away……I don’t really know what to tell you? Thiefs are faster. Mesmers are faster. Druids may be a bit slower in a race but they have larger gap closers and can easily catch warriors in an early race. Kitten, even many revenants ive seen are faster and can catch warriors. Idk what to tell you in terms of that, you should be able to catch them and apply the techniques above to whittle them down till they can be killed.

Warriors that use sword MH have the most mobility but that sword comes at the cost of damage making them lesser opponents in a duel situation. Warriors also might have bullrush which is a 30s cd dash in between gs5 and sword 2 in its distance. Again though, bullsrush will take up a valuable utility slow making them lesser when it comes to defense.

Tactivators

Nerfs are coming for a number of the problematic guild upgrades like cloaking waters, chilling fog and airship defense.

For cloaking waters, the stealth duration is getting reduced dramatically. We recognize that it’s possible that any amount of stealth is too strong, but changing a number is something we can do quickly and safely. Whereas changing the upgrade to do something entirely different requires significantly more time, both in terms of general development (design/implementation/testing) and also in large part because it would require updated text, which in turn needs to go through our long editing and localization process. As for removing the upgrade entirely, that also isn’t really an option, due to how it’s intertwined with the Scribing and Guild Halls systems.

This doesn’t really make sense to me….its like you are saying the upgrades are a terrible thing that you would scrap but your predecessors made it important for other parts of the game and you don’t want to touch it cause of that. Does that about sum it up?

I kinda like them. They give defenders alot more options now. I mean defending fire keep inner against cata’s placed behind that walls was really way too hard before cannons were here. Now you have a chance to speedbuild them in corners and use the aoe to flush out most cata spots. Attackers can easily counter the counter by setting up balli or their own cannon/ac at the top of the wall by the inner…its really not hard, just takes a smart commander who accesses the situation properly (something that should be rewarded in wvsw).

In terms of smc…people are building shield gens when attacking inner, which i find rather interesting. And the shields obv cover the rams to prevent them from dying.

I really like cannons so far no lie. Not at all as crazy or insane as I originally thought. Smart attackers use cannons themselves to frustrate defenders to death.

I do agree that rams need to do a bit more damage or ‘something’…..cata’s have always been stealing the show from rams to an unfair degree and now its slightly more profound i guess. 2 wrongs shouldn’t make a right though….rams vs cata was a separate problem and shouldn’t be reason to get rid of cannons.

maybe we’ll have deployable oil pots in the future. that might be interesting….although the only use it would have is for burning supply since oil dmg is horrid.

I share your thoughts. When I look at the history of the mode and the game, it seems absurd that the devs are doing this whole ‘beta’ redesign thing. They aren’t committed to actually making the mode a meaningful experience. I really could not tell you the intent or the purpose of this whole promotional skit they are putting on. PR maybe? Is it just a giant advertisement to try and attract more people to the game in face of bad sales?

There are many better things to put ur teams on that could do that. In which case it implies that resources are scarce and that ‘adding’ gizmos to an existing mode like wvsw is the only viable way they have atm.

I mean then we always got people like this saying:

WvW isn’t going to be good until there is more infliction of more players.

We always say things like this. We say that we have enough people tier 1 to add in the real ‘meat’ and make the mode meaninful, but that we can’t since the other tiers don’t have enough people yet. We say we can’t make the lower tiers better since that would ruin tier 1. Then we say that overall the entire population isn’t high enough to warrant any meaningful gameplay additions….. “you know we have enough people FINALLY, but the overall population is too low to warrant investment in changing anything….you know, its not anet’s fault. They had this brilliant game all layed out but they needed 100x the playerbase before they could actually input it” -Some kitten bulloney like that. THEY DON"T WANT TO CHANGE THE MODE. THIS IS HOW THEY WANT IT TO PLAY.

The truth is that anet designed wvsw as a run and gun (RNG) mode. Its no different a concept than those dumb little wintersday minigames they setup……the main ‘motivator’ is to simply jump in and farm the mode in the boringest way possible. That’s what they are treating wvsw like with the blob meta. They don’t want wargaming. This ain’t no RTS or 4x game…..its just a instant respawn 1 map cod experience where you are fighting for the chance to bottleneck the enemy to 1 section of the map for eez kills.

The grind is optional. You only need to do it for ascended/legendary gear, skins, special abilities, and ‘some’ end game content. Most of us end up doing this stuff at one point though, pretty much right after hitting level 80, cause it’s something to do.

But some people just do pvp exclusively….which doesn’t necessarily require any grinding at all to go at it with full force.

I mean if you are level 80 and you finished the story….why do anything? You have to look at the number of reasons you can scrounge up and go from there. It’s easy to understand your frustrations and arguments, but the game is what it is. Maybe you’ve done all the valuable content and should move on? Or maybe there’s something else you can find?

Remember Winters day

Finally somebody else makes a thread about this issue! Nobody seems to even notice that there is no winter in WvsW or Lion’s arch or in many of the other places…
It doesn’t help that we have these megaservers now as well. It’s just random people all the time…I miss having a sense of community and belonging. I don’t even see the point in differentiating between borderlands anymore…we might as well just be all the same, it’s less depressing if you think about things like that since it’s like everyone is still on the same server only it’s huge. Wintersday….Halloween….the game itself…it’s all gone downhill from what it achieved it’s first few months of being live.

Divinity’s reach is the new lion’s arch for the duration of wintersday. I don’t even use Lion’s arch right now. That’s kind of cool I will admit, since it divinity’s reach never had any real purpose for visiting on its own after story is done. But tink visited the grove the first christmas….and that had winter skin and events……AND LA Had a winter reskin and fun things going on. Now apparently all the races except humans hate wintersday….so the cool moving from homeland to homeland thing is effectively dead.

Ganks are good things.
Being more cautious with your life is a good thing.
Spawn camping is a good thing.

Whenever the enemy camps outside our spawn and people complain about it….I just laugh. I go one of the 2 side routes and go about my business. It’s like fish complaining about getting caught in a net as they intentionally swim straight into them.

If you don’t like it join a karma train bl or organize a group within your own bl so you can karma train or just play when guild runs are going on….you have plenty of options to combat that which you don’t seem to like/appreciate.

Honestly don’t care, Necro aren’t very strong compared to the other classes….not in roaming and small group fights anyways. They are actually one of my favourite classes to fight…..since they are easy to stomp (resistance OR stability ALWAYS works on the first go), they don’t have kitten unfair downed abilities, they don’t dodge a million times, they don’t stealth, they don’t port away, they don’t move fast, they don’t kitten heal everything around them instantly, they have a shorter range and can be kited without too much pain, they don’t abuse the ooc system.

HOnestly I’d call them one of the poster child classes of the game. Everyone else is battling it out in the battle of the OP vs the OP….nice to have a class that doesn’t rely on such gimmicks (their freeze ult is one of the exceptions tho).

Just my thoughts….don’t shoot me for my lack of care for the zerg meta…not that any zerglings can aim.

Dragon Stand Still Robs Players

Never been able to play the map since its always full when I try to join one where the event isn’t 60 minutes away.

Am I expected to wait 30 minutes on a new map to play the friggin map?

AN ENTIRE MAP AND I HAVE TO WAIT 30 MINUTES JUST TO PLAY IN IT? dumbest map ever imo…can’t do anything without the event and you can’t play the event if you don’t wait cause its always COMPLETELY FULLLLLLLLL 24/7 as soon as the even is near.

HoT was 3 maps as far as im concerned….idk wtf dragon stand was meant to be but its a failure. Its like making me wait 30 minutes to play a fractal……or making me wait 30 minutes to join ANY wvsw map……or making me wait 30 minutes to join EoTM….or making me wait 30 minutes…..like wtf if you have to wait 30 minutes to play solo pve content something is really really wrong.

Change Tagging Mechanics

The wxp gain from killing enemy players scales depending on the length of time that individual has been alive; so an enemy that dies repeatedly will be worth 1-2 wxp and one that dies less frequently can be worth up to 60.

Its honestly the only system designed for wvsw that does makes sense. So lets not talk about changing it mr OP.

Why damage reduction food not nerfed yet?

It does not need a fix. Foodbuffs are oke. Wvw in unbalanced anyway.

Food buffs are now all balanced. Hoax has cleared the floor. Its all fixed now.

+10% damage reduction while standing still = +10% damage
+10% damage reduction while moving = +10% damage
+10% damage while moving = +10% damage
+20% condition duration = +15% poison duration
+15% burning duration = +20% condition duration.

Hoax you fixed everything, by adding equal signs we have solved all the problems. Ty, plz return to the university at once you are needed there to solve more problems for humanity.

I would also be extremely bad for us colourblind people. It’s already hard enough for me to tell some of the colours apart as it is.

The wvsw dev team’s decision making on tag colours has been terrible to date. They originally said no…..but now they’ve accepted it cause its a cheap way to keep people interested in the mode. The decision for tag colours DEFINITELY came from wvsw rather than any other mode. More tag colours is gonna make pve and other modes more confusing to organize and handle for multitag events. WE literally got 2 blues now….it just makes no sense.

They seem to just choose colours at random, without thinking of the implications of it.
Asking for an EBG system after we’ve gone this deeep into the swamp is rather reasonable and a good idea if this is the system they are sticking with. They have already shown an insensitivity to colour blind and other players in that bubble. Improving upon this system of insensitivity shouldn’t necessarily be frowned upon though….they are making their bad product better at the end of the day regardless of it still being bad.(im surprised you guys don’t comment harder on the targettting system I can barely tell who the hell im targetting half the time.

Tl:DR if they want to make a horrible system more sensible they should add RGB, or increase the pool to every colour imaginable if technicaly limitations.

Any veteran MMO player that is new to GW2 will instantly recognize that the game is actually worth taking at a slow pace instead of the fast pace that the mentors encourage.

However, it’s those who are new to MMOs that will most likely fall into the trap of farming, speed-running, and grinding. Otherwise, they are veteran MMO players that want to farm, speed-run, and grind.

To me, the quests in this game are really, really boring. I can’t really explain why. Maybe it’s the lack of NPC/Player interaction when starting a quest. Maybe it’s the lack of a decent reward for doing them. As a veteran MMO player myself, I’m used to receiving armor, gold, and other shinies from quests, but all I receive in GW2 is a measly amount of coins. Therefore, I find grinding more enjoyable than quests because the rewards are infinitely better. That’s just my opinion though.

take ur time and enjoy the game with ur first character. Ur gona have 0 connection to anything, and everyhting is just gonna be a slogfest grind if you auto level to 80 right off the bat. There is so much content to do before you hit 80. Its a real travesty to not play the game the way you were intended to play it. i have my chat box top left corner. squad stuff bottom left. honestly id reccommend this setup to everyone….after i changed it i havent gone back its much easier not looking down with ur eyes.

the new ui menu u bring up as a commander was not formatted properly and its cutoff below the screen…so i cant access all the options.

plz fix soooooooon. prop the menue up more or add a scroll function to it so i can access the cutoff bit

Like Choppy said, it was adrenal health. They changed how it functioned….instead of us getting some healing with each bar of “unspent” adrenaline, we know get a crap ton of healing with each bar of “spent” adrenaline. That changed happened…..after the first 1/3 of last year I beleive.

You can look it up in the patch notes. THere were jokes all over at that time like “fixed a bug that prevented warriors from winning pvp matches”…and jokes wiht the daily warrior winner daily and all that….since warriors were considered undesirable losers at that point.

I don’t get why this even exists. For power users its horrid damage. For condi users its horrid damage.

Just seems like an outdated idea from gw2 vanilla that was just left in there and never truly removed/fixed.

I mean it prevents sword 4 primary from going on cooldown after you use it….its in the way. The animation is clunky and slow if you do the rip as well….you are better off auto attacking with whatever weapon you are using.

Would like to see rip removed or grant another effect of some kind.

I mean I don’t wanna make the ability OP, I just want to clean it up and give it some added utility.

Ideas for Rip:
-After Impale, if you wait 3 seconds you have a 4 second window on which to active “Rip”. Rip must be activated within 130 range. It causes target foe to become dazed and crippled (or incumbered) for 1.5 seconds, while doing a vomit (like when u eat too much halloween candy) animation. After rip is activated, Impale goes back on its 15second cooldown. You may choose to activate sword 4 anytime after the initial impale hits to put it back on cd and cancel the rip. If impale misses it goes right back to cd and skips rip.

-something simpler: remove rip

-something simpler: rip, as is, applies poison or some kind of control effect (cripple or something useless) to the target along with the measly damage.

thief always outruns warrior if they are dedicated to it even if the warrior maxes all speed abilities out. I don’t get why nobody has mentioned revenant in this thread yet. I had one outrun my warrior running sword + gs…i think i might have even had been using bulllrush that time I can’t remember. I remember being utterly amazed the revenant was faster than me though.

Some1 out there, feeling forgotten and disconnected, advocating to make the process of change allllllll about themmmm at the expense of others. Cause their playtime is just sooooo much more important than everyone else’s.

Unfortunately the forums are dominated by euro players, not american players…..start praying they don’t start imitating you.

You should realize that skirmishes solve the nightcapping problem and your post is offering ‘lesss’ not more for the “majority” of players who don’t happen to be you. The others above already went through most of the points. Like how anything close to 90% reductions in ppt score per map based on population is absolutely atrocious. How did you come up with a 10% ppt value…..just what!!!!??? Even basic arithmetic will show how few points you will generate from conquering the entire map….much less the points per person generated per person helping to take things. Try and put some thought into ur numbers at least…go on the wiki or something and look at how much ppt there is per map and take 10% of that….its NOTHING. People don’t play to distribute their forces evenly all over every map. And when u outnumber people on more than 1 map STILL. Or the enemy can just abandon a map when its too hard. Abandon ebg when they work hard to take it all fairly and they only get 10% of the ppt, pretty funny ideas you have.

We don’t need changes to the glicko, because that is not the root issue at hand, and we don’t need to deface the server-system, servers’ identity or turn to design intensive seasonal meta-guild systems.

All we need to do is to scale scoring and make it population relative

Can we start helping the players with AP addiction rather than pretending it doesn’t exist?

I means this is just unreasonable for some1 to ask this and for the devs to even consider it.

This game has tons of gametypes…and people play some more than others and some exclusively. It makes sense to put sources of AP into all these modes.

PvE AP isn’t accessible to some1 who only plays spvp or pvp or wvsw…… so the current system rewards their good playing with a way to obtain it. yet some1 from PvE is saying “nooooooooo, you can’t have any of my AP, I need access to allllll the AP!”
I mean that right there isn’t fair for the spvp players.

We turn a blind eye and don’t care cause giving PVE’s AP is a way to keep them happy…..and its very little work and really just lipservice. Pve’ers obviously need more ways to get AP now…….time to introduce more achievments again?

Asking for more AP is one thing. Asking to take AP away from other gamemodes is selfish as can be. I understanding that you are addicted to AP and all, but you are being selfish you must start admittig you have a problem.

You all ever stop and think that maybe servers aren’t open and closed because of wvsw? Maybe it infact has nothing to do with wvsw. With megaservers running pve, you might think that doesn’t make sense for them to be open/closed independent of what happens in wvsw. But maybe we are missing a piece of information here.

It would explain alot. Just a thought.
