There a very simple answer to your desires and it’s not reducing drop rates. By simply disallowing the sale of said items they would become truly rare. You know this, I know this, heck everyone knows this. The only reason as many people have items mentioned is not because they were able to farm them…..it’s b/c they were able to buy them from the tp. Earning gold is easier then farming certain items <—-there’s your issue in a nut shell.
^This – I couldn’t agree more.
My husband and I duo a lot. Our first 80’s we leveled as Mesmer/Thief and we’re currently doing Ranger/Elementalist and it’s a LOT of fun. Roaming in WvW is an absolute blast and it’s amazing the synergy we can get out of my pets. I’ve gotten to play with some of the less desirable pet combos because of it as well as some really funky builds.
I say just try out what you’d each like to do and make it work. When you duo there is so much more you can do with theorycrafting a build as compared to solo theorycrafting to seriously complement each other. And don’t forget to have fun!
I have better luck with ancient bone farms doing the grawl in Frostgorge. I get the occasional drop of them along with totems plus the bags. I also get them doing moldy bag runs in Orr.
I know that a lot of people will tell you to go grind CoF or something similar and buy what you need, but there are a lot of players who are out to earn their mats (whether that is deemed stupid to someone else – it’s what I’m doing and I enjoy this kind of grind rather than a dungeon grind.) I am farming for several different mats, so when I’m experiencing low drops for a particular area – instead of staying for the rest of my farming time – I move on to another area for mats I need and just farm there, usually with decent results. I make my own luck. :P
Hopefully we’ll get a reply. Many are still waiting here.
I am not getting them from the large ones but the veteran young karkas seem to have the best drop rates.
Our server’s event has not progressed. Any updates from a dev on what happens next?
Many have been waiting since 12:00pm and would like some update as to whether or not this over and they should continue to wait.
Thank you!

Huge chest spawned at the end with exotics, really nice karka shell accessory, and 20 slot bag.
Nothing gets released without testing. Be serious. There are tons of things that can go wrong with an event that cannot be accounted for in a live environment. I’m a developer myself and unfortunately the things above are something you try and plan for as much as possible but cannot always hotfix or patch immediately. I feel that Anet has been very prompt in responding to the issues during this event but I’m a little tired of seeing an attitude where a magic wand needs to be waved and all of the problems solved. This isn’t a required area of the game to play – it’s not hurting any other area of the game. So there’s no need to be a drama queen about the situation and say things like “Let me know when it’s fixed, I’ll be offline until then”. That’s just silly. Hotfixes still need to be tested and it takes time for patches to be deployed. They are not instant and require a LOT of work. I wonder if the devs aren’t sleeping in shifts to keep up with the demands during these one-time events.
While a live dev server is a great idea for some things it would ruin one-time events due to leaks and spoilers being posted all over the internet – so that theory needs to be thrown out. They are trying to be game changing. They obviously had some issues with this event. If they succeed – think about what that means for gameplay in the future.
I just feel like the majority of the threads are being unreasonable. Being disappointed is one thing – raging uncontrollably or the “I’ll never play this again” attitude is taking things a little too far.
Dragonbrand decided to go to the top of the spiral and wipe everything out up there for the Orichalcum. Win.
Event is still bugged though.
Updates on Dragonbrand (2:47pm EST)
Noll is obviously still bugged. (Known)
Canach spawns and is killable but does not send mail with item.
Fahd al’Eshadhi’s event is active but does not progress from starting area.
Pastkeeper Saballa is nowhere to be found. Last night she was stuck doing a triangular path near where she spawns for the DE, but has disappeared entirely.
Then it must not exist in the game. I’ve checked the Pact vendor and it’s showing the first skin. So does the PvP locker. My only guess was that it had been renamed or removed from the game entirely. I have also seen it listed in a Reddit thread under “Pact Bow” without the ‘Hornbow’. It even shares the same icon. ><
No, I’m not looking for the skin in the first link, but the skin in the second link. The first link is indeed the one you can get with the Pact Token.
You might want to check out this guide and read some of the comment suggestions posted on Taugrim:
http://taugrim.com/2012/06/27/guide-to-guild-wars-2-keybinds/
I’ve used both a Naga and a slightly modified keybind layout to the one above and both have worked well for me – but as others have suggested you may want to play around with some settings based on how you play. I also move (except for strafing) with my mouse along as well as control my camera with my mouse – which would definitely free up your hands if you’re trying to move exclusively with WASD and attempting to keep up with your ability hotkeys. (You only have so many fingers!)
I was doing longbow research and came upon two different skin models under the name “Pact Hornbow”. In the game this is the actual version being used and the skin from the PvP locker: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Pact_Hornbow.jpg
But I really like this version of the skin that I came across under the same name: http://www.guildhead.com/item/31148/pact-hornbow
Does anyone know where I can find the skin for the second “Pact Hornbow” – maybe it has been renamed to something else?
Seems like the screenshot from #2 may be from earlier versions of the game as the database type sites build their indexes before most game launches. I’m not even sure if it’s in the game anymore.
Thanks in advance!
I liked the dungeon one better – but it was pretty amusing to see the amount of people fail on /surprised.
To anyone having issues jumping into the Mystic Forge due to griefing or just not being able to do the jumps: Go to the uppermost part of Lion’s Arch from the Grand Piazza (the bar located in the ships above the city) – you can jump into the Mystic Forge from that height and survive it. It’s actually quite fun.
I believe with the latest patch there was some data mining that revealed gem store hair cut and “face lift” options. Sort of like in GW1. So hopefully it is coming soon and with that some new hair styles too. I would love the female butch afro from GW1 that sadly isn’t available in GW2. My necro would look great with it.
I hope so. One of the reasons I haven’t created my Sylvari yet is because I can’t decide on just one style for her. (Anet will be getting a lot of money from me!)

I don’t think that begging guilds to stay after they have decided to go will be a benefit to our server – even though it will be a hard hit to our numbers. It just shows the next time a matchup proves too rough they will jump ship at the first sign of hardship. (Or rage quit halfway through the week. Q_Q)
I know that many of the larger guilds seem to play the blame game – blaming pugs (in which the use of this term is starting to annoy me since it seems that everyone is being labelled a pug that isn’t part of a giant guild/alliance), lack of population/Oceanic, etc.. It may take a bit of time to recover and reorganize some of our guilds together, but it’s not impossible and I’d rather play with other like-minded guilds who have loyalty to our server.
Locking the servers down may help with this but forcing people who don’t want to pay to leave will just stick you with demoralized/sour groups that could end up being a detriment to your server forces and attitudes. I have never seen so much map chat negativity than I have this past week (past the usual trolling).
We have the absolute worst sense of sportsmanship. It’s the blame game all day on chat, most players don’t want to bother because they don’t want to try. So they’ll blame everyone else instead of playing everyday. No one likes to lose….but someone will. If you don’t try it’s going to be you. IF Tsym is taking all the organized guilds off Dragonbrand I say good riddance, half of them gave up after day 2 anyways.
No such thing as server pride on this game with the transfers, but I’d happily stay and try my best to put Dragonbrand back in a good light instead of running away.
I couldn’t agree more. I think overall we may end up better off as a server and community once some of these people leave the server. Maybe we could actually form a REAL community – not some alliance offshoot.
I’m the guild leader of Project Mayhem and someone was kind enough to bring this to my attention on our guild website. We have ONE member on Yak’s Bend – the person who is seen in the video above. However, our guild operates solely on Dragonbrand. We played SWTOR with the person above and he was invited to the guild in hopes of convincing him to come over to Dragonbrand, but he decided to stay primarily on Yak’s Bend where he was playing with some of his other friends in another guild. Why he is sporting our tag during WvW on his server is beyond me.
I want to make this very clear: Project Mayhem does NOT tolerate cheating of any kind and the member in the video above will be removed from our guild as we have a zero tolerance policy for the above behavior.
Our guild apologizes for the actions of the this member, but he does not speak for our entire guild. Our guild did NOT violate the ToS set forth by Anet – one member did on another server – and if he is banned, it is his own fault.
Server: Dragonbrand
Dungeon: HoTW
Group continually gets split into two instances trying to do Story mode. We’ve tried relogging and reforming and the same two groups are separated.
Tried transferring to Anvil Rock to complete the skillpoint…already bugged.
GUILD: Project Mayhem
GUILD TAG: [PM]
SERVER: Dragonbrand
My husband and I both received a Letter of Commendation upon completing the class story and we both used it – neither letter applied the 1k influence to our guild influence total. We received no error, it was not in the logs, and we were both representing our guild at the time.
GUILD: “Project Mayhem”
GUILD TAG: [PM]
SERVER: Dragonbrand
Some guild members are unable to access the guild bank, including myself, and I created the guild, although we purchased the guild stash upgrade during the first week of launch. The NPC says that we have not purchased the upgrade.
I was just now able to complete this with my husband in my instance, however – it locked him out of the cutscenes (which every other storyline up until now we’ve been able to view eachother’s) and he did not get the option at the end to complete the mission. Trahearne DID die this time too. We had been completely bugged out of it before tonight and decided to try it one more time since the patch notes said it was fixed.
Hopefully, one last time is the charm?
