Any sigil/rune/amulet you purchased you’ll get refunded for. The new amulets we’re adding will be free since we’re removing a number of other core amulets.

I do not understand these threads. “My family and I have played thousands of hours, but we feel ‘cheated’ because the person who is joining now plays the core game for free or pays just the one fee for Heart of Thorns.”

Let’s consider another type of purchase, that of DVDs. FotR was $30 when it came out on DVD. You now can get all three chapters of LotR for less than $20. But the person who buys now lost years of viewing pleasure because he didn’t own the video at release. LotR is shown for free on television, but that doesn’t negate the value of purchasing the DVDs, for those of us who chose to make those purchases. Imagine showing up at a DVD retailer and saying, “This movie is now free. I want money off another title.”

The hours in Guild Wars 2 that your family has enjoyed—very likely the thousands of accumulated hours—are not without value. They are not, to us, without cost. The 40 major updates we have made to the game that you have been enjoying for three years each add significant value to your purchases: Wintersday festivals that a new player will never be able to attend, major in-game events they’ll never see, drops that were only available to you, as a veteran player, during a limited period.

The position in the first post has been put forth by different people and successfully dispelled time and time again. OP — Please know that we greatly appreciate your support. I encourage you to make whatever purchase decision is best for you and your family. But please never forget that all you have gotten for each of your purchases does have value, in the overall view of things.

[SUGGESTION] Hats must come back.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

The more outfits and style head skins are released, the more its clear that making the hat part of the outfit when all town clothes were put into one was a mistake.

The head had to be kept separated, like they were in GW1.

Now, I can’t mix style headgear not bound to any armor class and any outfit:

  • I can’t bring the devil horns with the rainment of the lich or the bloody prince’s outfit.
  • I can’t show my elementalist Flame eye or any neromancer or mesmer masks under the Ancestral outfit or Noble Court outfit.
  • I can’t put on a top hat with my noble count outfit.
  • I can’t use the Wizard or Witch hats hat and the hexed or witch’s outfit.
  • I can’t bring the Phantom hood with the mad king’s or witch’s outfit. +

But the worst part of it is knowing that I could! But I just can’t!

All outfits must have a separated head so it shows in personal story cinematics. So all new outfits are already split in the head.

And I really doubt anyone will care about clipping if they can mix and match hats from different outfits and get the style headgear as hats instead skin, or even both as hats and skins. Or show the head armor along their outfit, and a hat along the rest of their armor without having to transmute it every time they just want to put on a hat or some glasses.

The benefits are too big not to do it:

  • Add a hat slot in the outfit panel.
  • Add an outfit wardrobe tab for that slot.
  • Add to that wardrobe slot the skins that were previously town clothes, the ones that are part of the current outfits, and many of the skins that are masks, hats and the other spare parts usable regardless of armor class that do no look like armor (e.g.: Lawless is part of an armor set, so that won’t be added, but the Wreath of cooperation a spare one, so that’ll be added).
  • These skins would be both in the hat slot and usable in heaad armor, so people can choose whether they want to equip them as hat or apply them to armor, they won’t lose any currently applied appearances or anything like that, they’ll just gain the option to put on their glasses in the hat slot instead having to apply them as armor skin.
  • Make it dyeable, of course.
  • Hiding the hat would be independent of the outfit and armor.
  • Hiding the hat would show the head armor if it isn’t hidden.

I’m not asking for town clothes to come back. Just the hats.
We are missing to much without that.

There’s never been an Easter event or sale so bunny ears then would be sort of odd. Halloween would be perfect for a bunny ear return due to the costume aspect. Hope they bring back wide rim glasses too.

This is completely unacceptable. How did this even get approved?

There’s been more than a few times when I’ve used the exchange to get just 100 gems to be able to afford something. With all the odd/varying prices, we need options in buying amounts of gems.

It’s bad enough that we are stuck with a minimum real cash purchase of $10, now this has spread into the exchange too.

Stuff like this is why I’ve begun dreading patch day. It seems like Arena Net doesn’t want me to play anymore.
ANet: “Morsus, you’ve played 700 hours over the past 2 years. That’s unhealthy.”
Me: “You shouldn’t have made such an awesome game then!”
ANet: “Don’t worry, we won’t make you quit cold turkey, we’ll just make your quality of life lower until your desire to play is gone.”
Me: “Stop it! Leave me alone! I just want to waste my life behind a computer!”

This makes no sense to me, it worked fine before. I won’t enjoy for ever not being able to get the exact amount I need/fill in the rest. I can understand for plastic retail cards, but for pure digital?

Edit: The new Gem/Gold Exchange only have set options for 400,800,1200, etc

Edit 2: I can see the advantages of this new system as well, it’s faster if you don’t care or it happens to line up nice. Although I see no reason why we can’t have both.

If I want 100 gems I want 100 gems.

PLS remove this CRAP!

Edit: I want 4 things added:
1: I want the precise conversion rate added
2: I want to be able to choose the exact amount both in gems and gold.
3: I want the graph back
4: I want A-Net to treat me like an adult, being 40 yrs old I guess I’m entitled to it

and for all I care you keep the new screen for the ‘not so smart’, but I -HATE- it.

As you may have noticed on our website, we are heading into another free trial period. In the past, you may have spotted a few problems related to free trials. For instance, gold seller spam was pretty noticeable. For this trial period, we have introduced a few restrictions that should address some of the concerns we’ve noted in the past. Here’s a list:

  • Trial Accounts can send mail only to a player who has added the trial account holder to their friend list
  • Trial Accounts can send whispers only to a player who has added the trial account holder to their friend list
  • Trial Accounts cannot use map chat

Here are some other details about trial accounts, so that if your friends join us – and we hope they will! – they have an understanding of how trial accounts work:

  • Those playing on a trial account cannot sell items the Trading Post
  • Trial Accounts will be limited to 2 character slots
  • Trial Accounts will not have access to the Gem Store
  • Trial accounts will not have access to the Currency Exchange
  • Trial accounts will have access to Edge of the Mists but will not have access to World-versus-World

Also, FYI: there will be no guild restrictions in place, so your friend playing on a free trial account is welcome to join your guild and will be able to chat and play with you and your guild members.

Radiant and Hellfire Armor Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lua.4163

Lua.4163

I am concerned about the Radiant and Hellfire skins because I don’t think that the Achievements rewards are well balanced. After checking the Achievement Point (AP) Reward table on the wiki (see attachment), I made a few changes to make it possible for players to acquire one full set until 18k AP and another full set until 36k AP (see attachment).
The way the system works right now is very questionable because you will acquire 2x Helmets, 2x Gloves, 2x Boots before you can acquire any Top or Bottom piece and it would be more productive to work towards one full set before getting additional parts of the other set.
Since many already made their choice for their second pair of gloves, shoes and helmet I would recommend either resetting those rewards or even letting those select players keep those skins as a “bonus”. If you let those players who already have the 2nd gloves/shoes/helmet keep those skins they would have an advantage but it would still be better for the new players to have this change implemented because the way it is right now, they would never have the chance of getting one full set or even both sets complete. What are your thoughts?

Video driver rebooting

Technical Support

This sounds to me like the “TDR bug” given the description. You can find more info about this on Nvidia’s forums as they do have an official statement regarding the issue.

there is no known single cause of this issue. The common causes are failing power supply, failing video card, corrupt Windows, corrupt drivers and even just simple overheating. Technically speaking, this is an issue Nvidia needs to solve because it’s their TDR (Timeout Detection and Recovery) system that is crashing the driver. In essence, something is crashing the video driver and instead of locking the entire PC and forcing a reboot, the drivers now crash, you get that error message and they reset, keeping you in Windows. Specifically from that forum post:

How does TDR work? Timeout Detection and Recovery

Windows Vista and later operating systems attempt to detect situations in which computers appear to be completely “frozen.” They then attempt to dynamically recover from the frozen situations so that their desktops are responsive again. This process of detection and recovery is known as timeout detection and recovery (TDR).

Common issues that can cause a TDR:

- Incorrect memory timings or voltages
- Insufficient/problematic PSU
- Corrupt driver install
- Overheating
- Unstable overclocks (GPU or CPU)
- Incorrect MB voltages (generally NB/SB)
- Faulty graphics card
- A badly written driver or piece of software, but this is an unlikely cause in most cases
Driver conflicts

There are no categoric fixes but some users have found that changing the power management mode to ‘Prefer Maximum Performance’ has helped.

Downscaling + new system is weird

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tulki.1458

Tulki.1458

Tried a little experiment with the new system.

At level 21, in a level 17 zone. I hit level 22 and got +40 to all base attributes. Whoo, now I’m more powerful! This turned out to be about +35ish due to the downscaling but still. More powerful.

Then I hit level 23 in the same area, and lost 8 power and 7 from my other stats. Then I gained another level… and lost 8 power and 7 from the other stats. Wait a minute. What?

With the old system, downscaling made you weaker, but it was gradual as you levelled. With this one, you get a huge spike in stats that makes the game easier, but between these big stat spikes the game difficulty rises quickly. It doesn’t make any sense at all. Going from level 22 to 23 caused me to lose 80 max HP. It’s very weirdly designed. With all the stuff introduced in this patch about introducing new players, this change in particular makes absolutely no sense. The game difficulty wobbles violently from level to level.

The dragon finisher is nice, yet a little over the top. To compensate for this, I hereby suggest the Utterly Underwhelming Personal Story Finisher. Tadaaa!

Works analogous to the PS, once you’re half through the activation time, suddenly out of nowhere Trahearne shows up, gently pushes you aside and finishes your downed target himself.
Then he’ll follow you around for several minutes and tell you elaborately about his Wyld Hunt, his self-doubt, his childhood and how This won’t end well.
