If there isn’t a recovery disk there might be a recovery partition. My Windows 8 Asus laptop has one of them.
The first thing I did was to rip out the low speed hard drive you get with the laptop and replace it with an ssd, so basically I don’t have any recovery partitions on it. The windows installation has been redone from the ground up, including drivers. If I may ask, why do mulitple people suggest this, is there something I’m missing?
You have your “System Restore” disk from MSI that came with the laptop to reformat/re-install Windows 8 as if you bought it new, correct?
Simply try reformatting with Windows 7 and see how it runs Guild Wars 2, if you have the time on your hands and want to try it, I say attempt that route. Worst comes to worst, it doesn’t work and you can easily throw in the System Restore disk that came with it to format it back to it’s stock setup.
Assuming I have an MSI, well, I have a this laptop: http://www.asus.com/nl/supportonly/N550JV/#support_Download
And as you can see there are no windows 7 drivers, so I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t try that.
Almost 2 weeks later, updated my BIOS to the latest version, tried numerous drivers, still run the game at the lowest of low settings, and I’m still getting massive frame drops.
I’m getting a bit kitten ed after getting a new laptop and having this issue and still no response of any solution to this problem. I’m starting to think the video cards in the n550vj series is faulty.
Please, anyone who works on this forum or does troubleshooting around here confirm this with me so I can send back this POS.
It could be windows 8.1 itself. Buddy at the computer store says he can hardly game on his windows 8.1 MSI gaming laptop with GTX770M right now aside from a few games. I would imagine these issues will be sorted soon enough though.
I ran it on 8 and had the same issues, afterwards I upgraded it to 8.1 to fix it, it didn’t though.
Hey all,
I recently upgraded my older laptop which had a gt 650m and was able to easily run guild wars 2 on low settings at 60 fps. The laptop was also able to run the game at medium settings at around 40 fps.
Now that I have my new laptop which has a gt 750m I have strange spikes where my frames drop to around 20 for a few seconds after which the game returns back to normal fps only to drop in fps at no given reason.
I run the game at the lowest of the low settings, and in full screen mode, lower resolution, it doesn’t matter. I have the latest nvidia driver installed, for that matter all drivers and updates are installed.
The rest of the laptop stats are your basic fair of: I-7 processor, 8 gig ram, 250 gig ssd. Oh yeah I have windows 8.1 (not by choice).
Anyone else go into this problem?
Who cares, Anet has their money, whats a few seconds of your time.
The fact that they continue to assist us despite the insults heaped upon them is a testament to their professionalism.
A bit of a moot point when you sell your game on the premise that this sort of content is to be expected, it’s then expected by us it works. It’s not like this didn’t happen on any other updates before. Remember not being able to enter the Molten dungeon on day one? What can a developer now-a-days get away with and sell their product at full price?
I’m at a point where I just say no to the living world and wait till they actually release a proper expansion. As it is now, after wasting 3 attempts on the dungeon and encountering the bug I don’t feel like doing it anymore.
Has it been fixed yet?
Has it been fixed yet?
Dungeon is still bugged after trying it 3 times, not doing it again, fail dungeon is fail.
After doing the first boss and clearing out the trash the party has to go up a few jump pads and press a button to open a set of doors. Next you clear one group of trash after which Kiel has to follow the group, however she does not. Tried doing the dungeon three times now.
This has cost me 3 hours in this dungeon, now I don’t feel like doing the dungeon anymore. I wouldn’t recommend anyone doing this dungeon, its kitten boring doing the same content, having no guarantee it’s working.
I’ll just go back to doing my dailies and forget about the extra content. Sky Pirates of Tyria gets a 1/10 from me, what a waste of time.

The Aetherblade scoundrels have a base inside Lions Arch! I need deputies for a raid on their hideout. Consider youself deputized. Head to the base of the waterfall at Diverse Ledges as soon as you can.

Miss Ellen Kiel,
Numerous times in the past I’ve been put in harms way upon your request. I appreciate that you extend this offer to me, but as I’m affraid that some reward should be in order for my services. I’ll accept this request for a fee of 1000 gems, 500 upfront and 500 upon completion. I’m looking forward to your speedy reply.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if all the people here are from european servers, because we all know that players in europe just have to do with crap second rate kitten servers that break down when you just only look at them.
Also very confinient that when login servers are down you also can’t get into the forum, way to cover your kittening tracks Anet golf claps.
This is the second time in a month that this kitten happens, wish I was playing World of Warcraft where they at least have their gokitten servers in working order, but then again I would have to ‘BEAR’ with the motherkittening pandas in there.
The consortium and the bltc are competitors lore wise. Why is the consortium selling their good on the bltc then? What does that say about them, do they admit that the bltc is the better company? Why does the consortium not have their own store, to compete with the insane gem prices in Tyria now.
This has been bothering me, it’s just a small thing, but could use improvement. When you press B to open your WvW panel you can click each of the zones to see what’s going on there. If you want to enter a zone you have to use a dropdown. Why can’t we just double-click the name of the zone and enter it that way. I think that would be a lot easier and more intuitive. Or click the zone, then click the enter world vs world button to enter instead of giving the drop down menu.
I never use them. The reason being that I have no clue what they actually do. For instance a ranger has the signet of stone, which states: Your pet takes no damage from attacks. When I read that I go like: yes, for how long, 1 second, 2 seconds, what?
Or how about this one. Signet of the Wild: Your pets grows larger, dealing more damage and gaining stability. Again for how long, and how much more damage, what does the extra increase in size matter, is that cool? Stability is pretty cool I guess, but for how long.
I just use the passives, I can see how much of a stat gain I get from those, for the rest I don’t bother with them.
You have to check the wiki for the stats, like a lot of skills. Remember that with the trait Signet of the Beastmaster, all those effects apply to you as well as your pet.
Uhm, no, it’s supposed to be in the game. I’m not going to dig around to find out.
The third one is not yet released. It seems to be planned for release this summer though.
I’ll be keeping an eye on that then.
I’ve read the 2 books released, but wasn’t there supposed to be a third one? Ankittenhe only one that found the books better then the personal storyline in the game?
The Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have a monthly fee argument is a bit moot. Guild Wars 1 was also free to play, and over there we didn’t have a gem store. It’s just a source of extra income which I highly doubt is needed to keep the game free to play.
I would be up for a fixed price, at least that way you’d know what’s up. That way discounts on certain items would actually mean something, I mean 25% discount on something, and the price going up by 25% because of the increased sales isn’t really worth it.
Not saying to get rid of it altogether, though a bit fairer wouldn’t hurt.
First, sorry they need income from somewhere. It’s not free to keep an MMO running.
Second, Guild Wars did have a straight up cash shop where you could buy things.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_In-Game_Store
However this is a problem for someone who doesn’t have a credit or debt card. This is why just about every MMO and game system now uses a proxy currency to run their cash shop. You can still buy the proxy currency online but now you can sell those little FastCard cards in stores for those who prefer or have no other choice than using cash. Sure ANet (Gems), Nintendo (NPoints), Perfect World (Zen), XBox (XBL Points), NCSOFT (NCoin), etc will never get the full cash value from that card but it’s income they wouldn’t otherwise get. Plus you can give them as gifts in a birthday card. Also they get the money when you buy the proxy currency , not when you spend it.
You’re somewhat right. You got to take into account that they started selling stuff at the end of the GW1 lifespan, and that it wasn’t as prominent as the store in GW2. As for the expansions, I’m pretty sure that when Elona, Cantha, and The Far Shiverpeaks are introduced they’ll be released on disk. That is if they are as big as what we have now. And lets face it your not going to download a game that’s roughly 40gig, maybe more.
Mass Effect 3 cough.
Take real life money worth +/- 20 silver and put that in your mouth, there you go.
I think I’m starting to understand. You buy gems with real money. Convert x amount of those gems to gold – then later when trying to buy the same amount of gems back with gold realizing it costs more …
Ok, I get that.
I don’t think I can remember any kind of “hint” popping up explaining how it works and when I learnt this I most likely just went “yeah ok, makes sense”.
Exactly. Now if they show the two rates on that opening screen it’s self explanatory and doesn’t require you to try both options to notice the rate changes. But it doesn’t it only shows the Gems to Gold rate (I admit this is the preferred use of the exchange from ANet’s POV, they want you to buy Gems with cash and let you convert some to gold).
It’s almost as if the Gold to Gems process came later in the development process and someone wedged it in there.
Pretty much this.
Chantry of Secrets
Got the one in the Chantry, thanks! I even got my last POI and vista in WvW last night. 100% now, awwww yeah.
While hoovering your mouse over Divinity’s Reach name while in the map screen you don’t get to see the completion track of the city.
Southsun Cove doesn’t have a completion track whatsoever, not on the load screen, nor on the map screen while hoovering your mouse over the name.
I’ve completed 99% of the map. My completion track states that I have 719/721 POI’s, I only have 1 left in WvW, I have no clue where the other one is as I have completed all the other zones and have gotten a rewards for them.
I checked southsun, these I have:
Karka Hive – Ember Passage – Canach’s Folly – Onyx Field – Privateer’s Moorage.
You shouldn’t watch the big bang theory. Though I agree 100% with you about the removal of this. Unless there is some hidden negative side to it.

Race: Any
Class: Any
Level: 80
Starting coin: 10 silver, 25 badges, 10.000 karma
Bags: Starter Backpack only. (the rest you have to buy in WvW)
How it works: Strip all your gear, go to WvW and buy your starting gear with the valutas you got. Go play your chosen zone in WvW, upgrade your armor only from the items/gold you find in the zone. Trading Post is allowed.
How to win:
1.) Capture all the points at least ones in your zone without dieing.
2.) Upgrade all your gear to exotic without dieing.
3.) Survive for 24 hours in your zone outside the safe zone without dieing.
4.) Go up 10 ranks without dieing.
Hard mode: start with a level 1 character.

The target breaking from mesmers is just annoying, same goes for the assassin. There wouldn’t be a problem though if they fixed the targeting system. Clicking on an opponent doesnt mean you target them, you really have to hammer that button 3 or 4 times before the game registers what you’re doing, and don’t get me started on the ranger pets, and the skills that they don’t use when you click you button.
It all boils down to the unresponsive nature of the game, que dodging, untargeting your target sometimes takes 2 press of the esc button. So will you gamble on pressing that esc button twice, risking bringing up your menu, or just ones and screw up your skills. It’s just one big mess all around. Just go to any of the profession forums and look at their bug reports. Some of these posts are months old, and the bugs have yet to be addressed.
So my suggestion: Tighten the controls on the game, after that we can whine about things being OP.
The rotation is already there. Though I have yet to be put in the bottom right zone, which I have been waiting for +/- a month now.
I’d like a chest with something special for completing a tab. For instance the explorer tab would give you a different interface you can toggle. Slayer could give you a pet or something. And so on and so on.
Or play a Dervish.
Anet: hang on people our employees are counting money and we have a huge backlog. 7 months later in the tread, you know the rest.
It’s not there.
When each illusion/phantasm, or whatever that dies they loose a portion of their life, there fixed, now they can’t spam an army at you constantly. Beside this, buff their healing skill, and everything evens out again.
This would only mean they have to keep an eye on their health, and would have to think about how many illusion/phantasm they’re going to use between heals, and a heal should never heal them enough so they can just spam them constantly.
The class is about playing smart, there is nothing smart about hiding behind fakes when you can just spam them without any repercussions.
I understand, but I find it weird how the staff always tries to burry things that make them look ‘bad’. I mean if people knew these things upfront there would be less moaning. So why not implement a warning, or clearly show in a graph buy and sell prices of the gems, just as you showed on that site you linked.
With things like this I can’t help but feel they know something is wrong with it but instead come up with an excuse to make it sound right.
Thanks for showing me another way to play a ranger. I always stuck to the longbow/greatsword combo for pve, and longbow/sword & horn combo for pvp. Now I have something else to play with, it’s something to get used to though, but way more fun then constantly running for your life, now I can run and have fun, thanks!
Op, I’m not getting this issue at all.
Use a pet and try to use their f2 skill, you’ll immediately notice the skill doesn’t activate when you press the button, or sometimes fails to activate alltogether. That’s it basically in a nutshell.
Well it is on topic, because this is what happened to my exchange. I wasn’t informed about this sort of thing, I assumed gems were worth just as much in gold when I sell or buy them. If I knew my gems were worth less when I sold them I would have never sold them in the first place.
(edited by Control Core.1079)
Every class has an OP build deal with it. As for the delays, yes they are there. They’re on minions, pets, basically anything that’s AI controlled, same goes for their skills. It’s been going on for months yet it still has to be addressed. Anet sure as hell knows of these problems, but doesn’t act upon it, nor do they communicate that they plan to fix it.
Also something funny, maybe a bit off-topic is the number 4 skill for your horn. If you lose line of sight to your target the birds wont do any damage anymore.
I don’t know what game you guys have been playing, just take a longbow, any pet you want, and stay in the back. Let your pet do the work, mobs will aggro it most of the times. If they get near spam all your traps and watch the npc’s melt away.
Get all the weapons, pets, bla, bla, bla, you know the rest.
Should be renamed to putrid green and purple. What are your thoughts?
Is there a possibility to undo it? I was under the impression gems and gold were one for one.
I think I can wave the gems goodbye then (all 500 of them). I don’t think a refund is in order, I mean it’s not like the TP warns you they just take +/- 30%. Would be nice if they warned players before trading.
I lost 30% of my gems selling them for gold. I wasn’t informed that the Trading Company would take a 30%. Because of this I would like too undo the transaction.
I’m treating this as any other real world store, and I wasn’t informed properly about this. I expect you do the right thing and undo the transaction.
That answers my question indeed. Now the only question remains, why is there no warning when you sell your gems that you’ll loose 30%?
That lovely little anecdote really hits hard, because that attitude is precisely what ruins LoL for me. If Anet doesn’t change something, the tpvp community will over time evolve to become just as toxic as in LoL. Havin a full party to do tpvp is already mandatory.
Except LoL has a significant system in place to reduce Toxicity, and GW2 has absolutely nothing of the sort. Which means not only are we going to see toxic behavior develop faster, but it will be a greater magnitude and have no way to cull it. I think they really need to start putting in a similar system to what LoL does (with the Tribunal); if it works, take it and put it in your game.
/signed, we need a system to get rid of noobs that camp the chieftain for no reason. A new report option should be added: Bad Player, this way pvp will improve and keeps out people that don’t really want to participate.
Anyone know if you loose a percentage of your gems when selling them for gold?
Guardians only or Engineer only, they never go down.
