Hey,
Now it is announced that there is going to be an update every two weeks, I’m wondering how long these events last? Personally, I think 2 weeks is pretty short, especially during the summer holidays, where a lot of people go a few weeks on vacation and might miss content this way.
I hope that the content keeps playable for around a month or so. This should give everyone enough time to do them, and the events will not feel ‘rushed’ to complete fast. It is not a problem that several events are active at the same time (such as the Dragon Bash and Aetherblade events).
Still, even though there are players (like you) who do not give much about mini-games. There are also a few that do…
There is no real harm in letting them stay. It also gives the opportunity to get the achievements accompanied by it.
And as Pixelpumpin said, if the game is across servers, there is pretty much a guarenteed match-up…
I’m quite disappointed that it just randomly disappeared. There was no mention about it getting removed! I didn’t even get the achievements yet… I would have tried getting it earlier if I knew it was getting to an end.
Getting tired of constantly being double teamed by SFR and Kodash in EB…
Mainly SFR that is just constantly bashing on Deso. There’s no dynamics of a 3 vs 3 fight in this tier.
I got all the hints unlocked, but my achievement got stuck at 82/83.
It was actually the last hint that didn’t count towards the achievement, which for me was the Engineer Tool Belt.
Hey,
The event “Disable the containers before they release their toxins”, that leads up to the spawning of the Golem Mark II was bugged just now.
There were a few containers left who simply couldn’t be activated. Although you probably don’t need all to finish the event, there were still to many bugged to gain completion.
The screenshot shows the bugged containers on the minimap.
I skipped the conversation of meeting Tybalt (as it is the third time I’m joining the Order of Whispers) and then I got into the movie about the Order of Whispers.
I didn’t get the normal narration under it, but there seemed to be some (not all) voice parts of the previous dialogue (with Tybalt, which I skipped).
For example, I got "What part of “secret society” wasn’t explained to you? Keep your voice down, Initiate, and pretend you’re buying an apple." during the Order of Whispers cinematic.
Especially path 4 takes pretty long. Most other paths also take a while if you kill everything like you’re supposed to though.
Commanders have a Squad, which can hold up to 50 people. They have a special chat and they can see the supply of all people in the Squad.
You can do level 10+ at any time you wish. You don’t actually need to do the lower levels. If you join a higher team, your progress on levels goes up as well.
Yes he can do level 10+ anytime he wants and totally skip the lower levels, but there’s little point doing so, since the rewards will still be of his personal level.
Yeah, I guess that’s true. Still, at this moment, the maximum level of Fractals is 50, which I don’t find that high at all. Considering you only do 3 out of 9 Fractals at a time, you will only do each Fractal about 17 times on average by going from level 1 to level 50.
Personally, I don’t think playing 17 times the same content is not that much for achieving the maximum in where progression plays an important role. Most players have done several Dungeons way more than that. And most paths of Dungeons look quite alike, while every Fractal is very different.
Although I can understand your frustration, I’m pretty much against everything you state here. Most things are implemented pretty well by now.
FotM 1-9: while 9 levels seems extreme, it’s the best place to get to get Vials, of course you can transmute Globs or Shards to Vials, but still, the earlier levels are used to get Vials and learn the mechanics. Reducing them is something I’d love to see as well, but the this “initial” level is needed, before Agony starts.
You can do level 10+ at any time you wish. You don’t actually need to do the lower levels. If you join a higher team, your progress on levels goes up as well.
Extremely variable time spent: while I do not mind the time spent in FotM, you never know how long it’ll take. Depending on the randomized Fractals, it can take between 30 minutes or 2 hours. There is no such thing as a “fast fractal run” which means I’m pretty much limited to doing fractals on wednesdays only when my fiancée is not at home. Ten weeks for a single ring???
Well, some content of Guild Wars 2 is just longer. If every piece of content would take 30 minutes or less, I think a lot of players would protest against it as well. Fractals, and Dungeons in general, just take longer.
Exorbitant vendor prices: The ascended back piece costs 5 stacks of relics. Two more to make it ascended, then two more stacks to infuse it. I currently have 2 stacks of relics after reaching 10.
A single ring costs 10 relics which is beyond stupid given I can only do 1 fractal a week under the current imbalanced times required. I learned the mechanics on FotM, give me my loot already …
Also disagree. Level 10+ already has a chance for ascended gear drop. Level 26+ already drops infused rings. You can also buy ascended gear with Laurers and Guild Commendations. By the time you really need to buy that backpack, you have more than enough. I got my backpack around level 25 Fractals, while I only need it for level 30 (and I haven’t bought anything with Laurels yet).
As for the Account wide, I agree. But again, you are allowed to join higher tiers if you wish. The lack of Ascended items might prevent this, but when you already have 1 character that is high, you will notice that you have more rings than you will ever need.
Thank you sir, for this post. I’m happy that there are still some people that agree with me…
I have been playing from the start, but I only did AC explorable about 5 times (before the update). After the update, I did every path once because I needed it for the Monthly (February). Meaning I’m not at all “experienced” in Dungeons.
I shared back then, that in my experience, the Dungeon was even better (more fun) and although it takes a little while to figure out, it is still pretty easy once you do. However, I got a lot of comments that I was level 80 and that I couldn’t speak for all the Guild Wars 2 players. So I’m happy that you, as new player, agree that the new AC isn’t really different or harder.
If people can’t avoid the red circles, dodge some special attacks or figure out boss mechanics, they don’t belong in Dungeons.
Thanks again for this post.
Account bound would be way better, just like the PvP title.
People shouldn’t get punished by playing different characters compared to those that only focus on 1…
You never played GW1 did you? Those servers have been up for seven years, with no mention of going down any time soon. R15 Hero took people years, did you ever see anyone whine about that? No.
Since it seems a lot of people forgot about this title, or more likely never even knew about it, let me break it down.
“You would need to win 2,509 times consecutively to gain the 100,000 fame needed to max this title. This would take over 500 hours of holding Halls.”
Since that never happened, we’ll assume an average group of high ranked players would hold halls 5 times consecutively. For the purpose of an ideal situation, we’ll also assume this group jumped to halls with only one prior fight. Winning the first fight nets you 1 fame, then the first halls win would net you 3, the second 6, the third 10, the fourth 16, and the fifth 24, for a total of 60 fame a run. That’s 1667 runs about, figuring wait time for matches of at least 30 seconds, and a match time of at least 10 minutes comes out to around 98353 minutes, 1639 hours, 68 days, or around 2 and a half months of constant playing to achieve the title.
This is an idealized situation, in reality it took considerably longer than that. It took the first person to get it somewhere around 3 years 4 months. So are these titles slightly illogical? Sure. Impossible? No, just really time consuming. It’s likely they’ll be adjusted in the future anyway.
Tl;dr: Titles that take long periods of time aren’t out of the norm in Guild Wars, in my opinion, Hero in GW1 was harder to get than any of the WvW titles.
“Did you ever see anyone whine about that? No.”
Yes, I kittening hated it, together with quite some others! Some people like to hunt achievements, but these are near impossible to get. It took Starcraft many years and over 10k hours of play to get H15. Not sure if maximum Gladiator even ever got achieved.
Even so, those were even ‘doable’ by maybe 5 lunatics who didn’t have anything else to do than dedicating a better part of their life to a title. Some of these WvW achievements are even further out of proportion.
Sure, it’s nice to keep progress, even after you maxed a title. But then just let the points continue, like in the old Guild Wars (for example reputation titles). That way, you can still compare with eachother, while keeping the title doable.
In my opinion, no title should never, ever, cost more than 100 hours to max out when farmed excessively.
No, I was indeed level 80. I agree that it is way to hard for lower levels (and this definatly needs fixing!). The Story Modes in each Dungeon is definatly doable for the lower levels, but Explorable is usually to hard.
On the other hand, how often do you see a level 35 with max armor (level 35 masterwork armor, weapons and rings/amulets etc)?
I did all 3 paths previous month for the monthly. It was right after the update, and I didn’t know the paths changed.
I chose AC because I wanted to get 3 fast runs to complete the monthly Dungeon. I’m normally not into Dungeons at all and it had been over 3 months since I last did AC, but I recalled these paths as easily doable.
So, I joined this random party that wanted to do a full 3 path run. One of them mentioned the change, but we simply were going to see what the exact changes were. We managed to complete all 3 paths easily within 2 hours, which was an easy completion of the monthly for me.
As I mentioned, it had been a while since I did AC. Whether it was a better party, just myself playing better or having better gear, I found it even easier than before. In my opinion, mainly the bosses were different. Even better actually. For example, in path 2, you actually have to use the traps, while the previous cannons were completely useless.
I made this topic because there were so many people complaining about the thoughness of Dungeons. I think most of them are indeed challenging. I wouldn’t have it any other way. If I’d be able to rush right through them, I would get bored pretty fast.
People who can’t manage to walk out of some red circles, or can’t dodge when a boss is rushing to you, just stick to regular PvE untill you can…
A lot of the Slayer achievements seem to have been reset to 999/1000. I have like 20 of those in my Slayer list now. And that final kill rewards the title again (and those Arenanet points). Pretty weird…
In already feel that I get better loot in level 20’s than in Fractals below level 10. Of course, the drops are still random so you might be more lucky in one run compared to another.
I doubt it will ever be “raining rares and exotics”, but there’s definatly a better drop rate in the higher level Fractals.
Thank you!
Although it can be annoying to face the same server over and over again, simply resetting the entire ladder was a terrible idea. I’m happy the current ratings will be preserved!
Please stop this madness. A rating reset would be rediculous. The unbalanced matchups are pretty much over. Just keeping the current ranking order will balance them within a week or 2.
Just implement the new formula in the current order and don’t do the reset. It will be very depressing and boring for all servers if they are placed more than 2 tiers from where they should actually belong.
Doesn’t anyone see the connection?
They “improved” WvW culling and performance. Basically, what they actually did is probably reduce the number of players allowed on each map
Old Daily:
- 4 Steady Achievements (13 tiers).
- Experience was 42% of the next level.
New Daily:
- 5 Dynamic Achievements (5 tiers).
- Experience is 18% of the next level.
Now this seems a bit off to me. I was a huge fan of doing the daily achievements on my lower characters, as it is a nice way to level them up.
I don’t really like completing the same area’s over and over again on different characters. WvW is not really satisfying on a lower character either, so the Daily used to be a good way to get some experience. Is there any reason why this has been lowered while there are more achievements to be done now?
I am pretty sure the lower levels get compensated, or, in other words, the higher levels get nerfed more. I have read somewhere that a level 30 with (rare?) max armor will have higher stats than a downleveled level 80 with full exotic gear, though the level 80 will have the advantage of traits.
To be honest, it does not matter much at all. The only problem is when a level 30 does often only have level 20 fine or masterwork gear, it is weak, and level 80’s usually have maxed out rare or exotic gear.
I thought about this as well. I don’t have a Triforge Pendant, and haven’t got one for exactly this uncertainty.
I personally think they should scale up the Pendant as soon as Ascended gear comes out. Mainly because this item is really expensive, and it wouldn’t be fair to players if easy obtainable Ascended gear with better stats come out. They scale up Legendary items, why not this Pendant?
Every class can soloing bombs on Dredge by using Order of Whispers Spy Kit http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Order_of_Whispers_Spy_Kit. When activated its give you only 3s invis but you can move unlike Ash Legion Spy Kit. Trick is in stacking (you can use many kits quicky in row and stack invis duration). Its need a little practice.
Kits coast some copper but I think its a bit cheaper then repairs and less frustrating then dying:-)
You can actually move while in stealth with the Ash Legion Spy kit, although you have to move slow and can’t run. Just seems worth to mention.
Good guide. Although most was already familiar for me, it is really useful for people who are just starting out. I would add one piece of advice, in what I think is the hardest Fractal.
Volcanic Fractal:
As you mention, the lava elementals are the hardest part of this boss, and in my experience, the moment where most party members get downed (and die). What I see way to often, is when party members try to get them up, they get owned by AoE attacks.
What I prefer to do as soon as I get downed, is target a close lava elemantal that is low on HP, basically signalling to my party to kill him. The elementals go down fairly quickly, and this can be done from a long distance. As killing an enemy gets you out of your downed status, this is both faster and safer than actually ressurecting.
Don’t make a big deal out of it, because:
- You don’t need 5 people to do most fractals, especially not the easier ones.
- It is just small fractals, if some one DC’s, you can start over without losing time. It’s not 7 consecutive runs.
- People barely DC.
All in all, it’s still way faster to do than for example, 5 dungeons. Also, the fix should be comming this month, so you can wait untill it is here.
The new systems will allow you to join higher levels. So as long as you have the ascended gear, you can join any level of fractals with any character.
In the original Guild Wars, there were training dummies that you could attack and they would tell your total damage, peak damage (which second) and DPS over a certain amount time and attacks.
What does this have to do with Dungeons? Might have a better place in the Suggestions part of the Forum.
Because it would really be used for dungeons or testing a builds dps, for dungeons. Nothing else to really test dps on.
Yes, because you don’t want to maximize your DPS in WvW, PvP or any other part of PvE…
What does this have to do with Dungeons? Might have a better place in the Suggestions part of the Forum.
Also, keep in mind, that if you are in a big zerg, you have 50 people attacking a person, which might result in not enough damage to get credit for it.
Also, most AoE attacks have a limit of damaging 5 players. When there’s a big group of enemies, there is a chance that you haven’t actually hit the enemy that dies.
You should get credit for it if you are part of the killing. You need a certain amount of damage or percent of health, but it is not much (10% should already do the trick).
You know that it counts as soon as you get experience when an opponent dies. The opponent has to be dead, so just being downed does not count as a kill and for the title.
First of all, “fixing” is the wrong word. Nothing is broken. It works as it was intended.
And as mentioned before, Arenanet announced changes regarding the fractals, where members could indeed join higher levels. This will be done in the update in January.
That is nonsense. Getting your crafting to level 400 + crafting your armor won’t cost more than 10 gold. You should definitely have at least that much by leveling your character to 80. If you spend your money on gems (for character/bank slots) or other stuff, well, you brought it on your own. It is no reason to complain it is a “grinding” game.
The only reason to grind is to get a nice skin.
I have to agree with you. It is hard to find a party for the Story Mode. People farm the paths because they grant badges, which are needed for armor/weapons/runes. The Story Mode is only interesting to do once, for the achievement, or just for fun, but is not interesting to repeat often.
But, because I have no idea that this is being changed at any point, this does not really help you at this moment. The best advice I can give you is quite simple. Join a good and active guild. I am sure, that if you are in a nice and social guild, there will be 4 members that will free some time to help you with that story mode.
no one is forcing you do to any dungeon, you can craft gear, you can drop it,you can get it for WvW badges or buy it with karma.
So you can grind crafting materials and craft it, grind mobs to hope for a drop, grind karma to buy the gear, or grind WvWvW to trade the gear for tokens instead of grinding dungeons. Good to know.
Of course there are some stats that can’t be crafted or bought, but that’s OP’s fault for wanting those specific sets right?
A better system would be what we had in GW1, where you can buy the armor and then put whatever stats you wanted on it through runes. Then again GW1 started out like GW2 and changed after a while, so there is still hope that Arena Net will come to their senses.
Well, you got to do SOMETHING to get to level 80 and progress. You will do either WvW, PvE (getting maps 100%), play Storyline or do Dungeons. By the time you reach level 80, you will have more than enough money/karma/badges to get Exotic armor and equipment, either by crafting, buying or a combination of those.
The only exception is the 3 ascended items (which require you to do a little over 10 Fractals), which are only slightly better than Exotic. There is indeed stuff that you can make that would require “grinding”, but that is just for the looks.
I completely disagree with this post. The Halloween one was indeed difficult. The whole jumping principle was new to me at the start of Guild Wars 2, and I was not good in it at all.
However, with Halloween I was really dedicated to get the achievement, and after about 3 hours of trying, I finally made it. That Jumping Puzzle was estimated by Arenanet to be completed by only a small group (5-10%, there’s a article somewhere).
The Winter Wonderland Jumping Puzzle is a lot easier. It definitely took me less than an hour to complete. There’s less time pressure, and most jumps are pretty easy. It just requires some dedication and practice to do it.
As for the Vista’s, most of them should be pretty easy. As mentioned before in this topic, the key to do those, is to find the starting point. The jumping itself is not at all that hard. There are like 2 Vista’s that have a Jumping Puzzle with them, so those should be the only ones that are somewhat harder.
At the very least I’m sure we’d all appreciate an official response, even if it’s not one we are hoping to hear. Please stop hiding, Anet and just tell us if you’re thinking about listening to the playerbase on this one or if the mini situation is going to stay as is.
This.
I’ve been wanting this for the entire Wintersday. Just some confirmation. We know they read these topics and are well aware, but they simply refuse to comment. I’m very disappointed.
+ 1
A simple +1 can’t be done since the body length must at least be 15
I agree that Laddering should be returned. It is supposed to be “Guild” Wars, but unfortunatly, everything in a “Guild” is pretty much useless. It just feels like an extended friend list.
I’m not a big fan of sPvP in general, that is basically the old AB battles, while I was a big fan with the base and Guild Lord principle (I do like the map with a Guild Lord in it).
The battles are pretty short, repetitive and get boring fast. I’m not getting quite the thrill I used to have when doing 8 vs 8 in Guild Wars 1. It just feels like RA or AB, where the motive and excitement is rather low
What is the question exactly?
For sPvP, you can do tournements at the moment with friends. There are free ones, and are basically the same as normal matches.
For Snowballing, they should definitely bring the old Snowball Tournaments from Guild Wars 1 back into this game. It was simply amazing.
The best solution is to make them tradable. The ones that spend money are happy, because they can get rid of duplicates. Other players are happy since they don’t have to gamble to get the mini’s…
Problem solved. Just to bad Anet is not doing anything regarding these mini’s and people complaining about the RNG at all. Not even a single reply of their thoughts or reasoning why they made it this way. That really disappoints me.
I’m kind of disappointed that not a single developer or moderator has posted anything regarding the RNG mini-pets, while there have been so many topics about it.
I full agree. Either option should be implemented. There have been many topics about this problem. Many agree. I haven’t seen a single developer answered if such thing is going to be implemented though…
but… aren’t “10 pristine relics = 1 ring” from the vendor inside the fotm ??
Yes, a normal ascended ring. But after level 20, you will find that the agony increases and you need infused ascended rings. They aren’t available to purchase with these relics.
A better option would be to allow us to buy vials/globs/shards so that you can infuse normal rings in the mystic forge.
Yes, this would definatly be a good solution as well. In addition, ascended rings could be salvagable to leave these materials.
Why can’t they be used to buy infused rings? I just read something about the Pristine Fractal Relics from a developer:
“Our intent was to afford unfortunate people the chance to obtain the rings so they can progress forward.”
At some point, you will need infused ascended rings to progress forward. Why not make it possible to buy them with 20 or 30 Pristine Fractal Relics?
Also, is there anything planned for current ascended rings? They are account bound, can’t be salvaged. Once you got a few, they are pretty much useless. Is there anything known about this?

Hey! I’ve got you added for over a week already, but I can’t seem to catch you online, so I’ll just post something here.
So, first a little something about me as a player. At this moment, I have 3 level 80 characters. My main character has got the world completely explored. I pretty much participate and enjoy every part of content there is. However, with a completed map, I’m mostly into high end PvE (Dungeons/Fractals), WvW and sPvP now. I also like to hunt some of those achievements whenever find time for it.
This basically means that I’m looking for an active Guild that has players online at each time to do some the earlier named activities with. I have played Guild Wars 1 for quite a few years, and it was pretty much the only game I played at the time. This will probably be the same for Guild Wars 2. When I play a game, I play it properly, and I’m not the kind of person who is into a new game every week.
I have read that the Guild originates from another game. However, I hope that you will have dedicated players for Guild Wars 2, since I’m actually looking for a Guild that stays active for a long while.
With kind regards,
Courageous Mithos
“I have 3 rings so it’s not a problem for anyone else”. Sorry that is flawed logic.
Those problems you listed are pretty major problems too, fyi.
Please elaborate instead of just stating things.
First of all, about the 3 rings, it’s not what I said. I didn’t base any statistical findings on my one sample size. Hell, I haven’t really said at all how many times I actually done the daily. Of course, there will be a few unlucky players who it will take 10+ tries to get a ring. But guess what, you can also craft them!
Now by saying this, I’m going to hear people moaning about the “great” costs of these rings, and that you have to buy gems in order get gold, etc. No, false. I think every run in Fractals will give you around 1 gold worth of items (if not more). Salvaging rares and exotics which drop quite generously can get you those 50 ecto’s quite fast. I think that by the time you are at level 10, you have earned enough with the fractals to actually make an ascended ring.
Second, how are the problems I listed major problems? Other than the disconnected thing they are going to fix, the overflow is annoying if it is not busy, but in my experience if you search properly, you can find some one who is in an overflow server.
Bottom line just is, most people search for “flaws” in order to claim “needed changes” that make the game easier for them.
