New Colossus Rumblus

Hmm, that seems like a bug. It was intended that you could interrupt the howl that caused the rocks to fall. I’ll send that over to our QA and get it verified.

I can confirm. Last night when I ran this my group attempted to CC him to prevent the ability and despite it saying interrupt you can not.

Also, after we wiped and reset we had to heal Grast. Imediately upon reviving him he would Leroy Jenkins into the fight with 50% HP and promptly die about 50% of the way into the fight at which point we would wipe again. When we actually did finish this it was the one time we some how got him back up to 100% HP.

I think another great mechanic that could be in this fight is giving the players an item they can activate the generates a shield to protect the group. Relying on an NPC is kind of lame.

Finally, it was hard for our group to tell but some of us felt the arch way in the ruins in the room provided a safe spot. Is this intended?

The new AC...

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Crushnaut.8307

Crushnaut.8307

Some guildies and I ran through all three explorable paths (SM too but that didn’t change). We had all done AC before, but we were not a regular group or anything. 4×80 + 1×35. I personally haven’t run AC in over a month.

Anyway, in general we found the spider harder and Kholer actually easier. The Spider’s AoEs hit hard now and actually need to be avoided. Spider hatchlings seemed tougher too. Hard to say though. Over all though it wasn’t that difficult. On our second run he wiped us twice. Other then that though no problems. Kholer, on the other hand, was a breeze. Sure he has his adds now, but that really doesn’t make him that much harder. Plus he seems to pull less often. We didn’t wipe to him at all. No problems.

We got the Troll once and got him to fight Kholer… and guess who won? Wasn’t the troll. Wasn’t Kholer. It was us (after Kholer trashed the Troll).

In Path 1 the burrows section was different. It wasn’t harder, by any means, it was just different. Strategies needed to change. We failed 4 or 5 times before we figured out the magic formula and simply spread our team around the room. Rushing the two burrows with 4 people while one guy defends doesn’t seem to be a viable tactic anymore. Mind you our groups DPS was average at best. Spreading out with one person one each of the first four burrows and one person on the NPC worked brilliantly and we completed it on our first try with this plan, easily.

The Howling King was nothing special. He sent waves of adds at us, but two party members took care of those while the other three took him on. He went down first try without any party members downing.

Part 2 was fun. I kited the gravelings around the traps on my thief while the other four spammed traps. Done first try. Nothing different.

Ghost Eater was fun. It took us a while to figure out what we had to do, but we did not wipe. We farted around for a quite while but eventually one of us noticed that you could pull the blobs while another was lifting. It was easy after that. We noticed the trap removed his buff and we killed him, first try. It didn’t really take that long to do either.

Also, the ghosts before this fight were SIGNIFICANTLY easier. They didn’t even seem to be a threat anymore.

Path 3 was the most difficult for us. We had no issues with the lovers den completing that on our first try. The boss fight with Colossus Rumblus was challenging though. We lost a party member right before the fight too and were unable to replace him due to people being on different builds. So, we four manned it.

The falling rocks are brutal. Rumblus’ tell that he is going to drop the rocks is obvious and you need to watch for it because you do not get a chance to dodge the rocks. You need to see this tell and get under the shield granted by the NPC. If the AOE hits you will be knocked prone and after that you don’t really stand a chance.

We noticed that after we wiped once the NPC with the shield didn’t revive to full HP before pulling a Leroy Jenkins on Rumblus. When we finally completed the fight it was when we somehow got the NPC back to 100% HP and got ourselves and the NPC pinned up against a rock which in effect negated Rumblus’s knockback and kept us together as a group. When we actually beat him none of us even went down. It seemed easy after probably 10 wipes.

The only other thing we noticed is that there seems to be a safe zone under the arch in the room. We didn’t really exploit this though as we noticed it on one of the last runs before we completed.

I don’t really get why we have to rely on an NPC though. It would have been much more interesting if there was an item one of the party members could carry that generated the shield. That way you can rely on our team and not Leroy Jenkins.

So, overall is AC harder or easier? IMO is isn’t really either. It is more interesting though. I, for one, like the changes. I think once people get used to the changes they will be doing it as quickly as they were before. One of the main problems my group ran into was that were were applying strategies that no longer worked and were slow to adapt. Once we figured it out though we got it done.

The real use for the Mystic Binding Agent

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crushnaut.8307

Crushnaut.8307

I bought the Mystic Binding Agents today. It works like this,
8 slivers + 1 dust + 1 Crystal + 1 MBA = 4 fragments
6 fragments + 1 dust + 1 crystal + 1 MBA = 3 shards
4 shards + 1 dust + 1 crystal +1 MBA = 2 cores
2 cores + 1 dust + 1 crystal + 1 MBA = 1 lodestone
If you put the MBA into the forge the lodestones grey out.
Ask me anything on this. I haven’t used the MBAs yet so if there is a recipe you want me to try let me know.

The real use for the Mystic Binding Agent

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crushnaut.8307

Crushnaut.8307

If you watch the video carefully you will see that the Mystic Binding Agent seems to allow him to batch the fragments into cores.

So for example normal you can do this,

2 Fragments + 1 Pile of Incandescent Dust + 1 Crystal + 1 Elonian Wine = 1 Core

With the Mystic Binding Agent you can do,

4 Fragments + 1 Pile of Incandescent Dust+ 1 Crystal + 1 Mystic Binding Agent = 2 Core.

I watched through your video and without actually being able to use the Mystic Binding Agent this is what I think it does. Remember these ratios…

1 Lodestone = 2 Cores = 4 Fragments = 8 Shards = 16 Slivers

Originally you could do this,

2 Sliver + 1 Crystal + 1 Pile of Radiant Dust + 1 Elonian Wine = 1 Fragment

To get enough Fragments to make a Lodestone you would need to do that above formula 8 times. Now with the Mystic Binding Agent it seems like you can do this,

16 Sliver + 1 Crystal + 1 Pile of Radiant Dust + 1 Mystic Binding Agent = 8 Fragments

You can then take those 8 Fragments and toss them into the forge like so,

8 Fragments + 1 Crystal + 1 Pile of Luminous Dust + 1 Mystic Binding Agent = 4 Shards

Then,

4 Shard + 1 Crystal + 1 Pile of Incandescent Dust + 1 Mystic Binding Agent = 2 Cores

And finally,

2 Cores + 1 Crystal + 1 Pile of Crystalline Dust + 1 Mystic Binding Agent = 1 Lodestone.

Again, I haven’t actually got my hands on the mystic binding agents so I am not sure. But, closely watching the above video and this is the conclusion I come to.

It definitely does NOT double the output. That much is clear from the video.

The OP states;

1 Wine, 1 Crystal, 4 Shards and a Dust = ONE CORE
1 Binding agent, 1 Crystal, 4 Shards and a Dust = TWO CORES

This DOES NOT HAPPEN in the video. Watch it. This is what happens,

1 Wine, 1 Crystal, 2 Shards and a Dust = ONE CORE
1 Binding agent, 1 Crystal, 4 Shards and a Dust = TWO CORES

I was up there the other day. There are actually 3 sets of mountains with steam vents. One right on the boundary between Diessa and Wayfarer Foothills, and two more up behind Burrows of Moledavia in areas just outside the map where you can not get too. I keep watching for more to show up, but nothing yet.

The reports of flame legions attacks may just be the flame legion reorganizing itself, much like the refugees, in light of the recent events.

Hopefully, tonight, we get some new story in the world.

Another thing to consider is that there is a mountain between Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, near the Burrows of Moledavia, that has steam vents erupting from it. You can see the vents from both sides of the mountain in either zone and I have yet to find another mountain like it. Is this the source? If so it is close to the dead body of them merchant and a dredge settlement.

Clearly, since the forces of good created the pact, the forces of evil will create the anti-pact. It will be dredge, svanir, flame legion, and inquest… riding destroyers!

But, in all seriousness it sounds like the dredge theory fits the best. As for the merchant, his injuries seems to be from a shock wave, whether from a sonic weapon, or just an explosion, who knows. I think just a simple explosion seems more likely. It is also entirely possible that the corpse has been there for a while only to be revealed by the thaw.

I also think it is neat that the Norn and the Char have two differing reactions to the events. The Char are quick to assign blame stating that, “the dredge are causing trouble” or “the flame legion attacked”. The Norn are more contemplative. When you ask them what happened they give answers like, “we don’t know yet”, “the answers we are getting do not make sense”. It is clear the Norn are still trying to figure the situation out and the Char are ready to go to war.

Finally, all these refugees keep telling me that, “raven told me you were coming.” What I don’t get is why didn’t raven tell them to get out before this disaster struck? Why is he telling them useless things like my daily schedule. Kinda sounds like raven is a kitten. Maybe raven is behind all this… …. maybe …

I am starting to get excited about the WvW changes. This is definitely one area I think they are spot on with what we want. They are working on culling, big project, but they are determined to get it done for us. Unique WvW abilities will be awesome, almost sounds like a class within a class for WvW (I picture scouting abilities for thief, buffs for the warrior, etc). They want to reduce the zerging and increase strategy which is exactly what I would like to see.

My only gripe is with the commander system. I feel they should refund commanders their 100g and tie in the commander system with the progression system some how such that experience people get the commander icon over those with 100g. However, it sounds like there are no plans for commanders.

Guesting is Coming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crushnaut.8307

Crushnaut.8307

Good morning.

It looks like I had the wrong information about how guild influence works with guesting.

The correct answer is: You still get influence for your home world guild when you are guesting.

Sorry for the wrong information yesterday.

Personally I find this disappointing. I was planning on switching to a different server than my main guild to WvW, and then PvE with my guild on their server. I can do this, but knowing my efforts will not go towards helping my guild in anyway is frustrating.

I was so happy to hear about guesting finally coming, but now it just seems soured.

Go back and re-read that post you quoted. It says you WILL get guild influence for your guild while guesting……

Yes, on your home server.

Let me give you an example of what I mean.

Say, I want to make my home server Anvil Rock for WvW, but my main guild is on Gate of Madness. So, I WvW on Anvil Rock, then when I want to PvE with my guild I guest to Gate of Madness. Only problem is that as I do events and such I will be gaining influence for my guild on Anvil Rock. My guild does not play on Anvil Rock, so I might as well not be gaining influence for my guild.

Am I interpreting his post incorrectly? Because when I read it, it sure sounds like that is what is going to happen.

1c undercutting is destroying competition

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Crushnaut.8307

Crushnaut.8307

Let’s take another example, not one from the AH this time, but an example none the less. Dusk. For the sake of argument, let’s assume I have 10,000 gold in my bank, and I want to corner the market on Dusks to raise the price from 300g to 600g (cause we know that would never happen….). I drop 3k and buy up every Dusk on the TP below 600g and relist them at that price (current gross: 6k). Now, you come in and try to sell your Dusk on the TP. Since your 5% system forces you to list for 570 or less, I can buy your Dusk instantly and relist it at 600 for no loss of gross. The 30g I pay in listing fee is 100% made back from the higher relist. It costs me nothing. If you list for LESS than 570, I make profit. You are forced to list at MY price, the buyer gets screwed, and the price NEVER drops.

This example assumes some pretty big things;
1) that you will always have enough gold to buy your competition
2) that there will be demand at your higher price
3) that there is a relatively limited supply coming into the market
4) that you are online 100% of the time to buy up your competition
5) there is no sale fee

If you run out of money to continue to buy your competition (ie supply > demand) your price fixing scheme is broken. You can of coarse maintain your supply of money if the demand is high enough at your new price point by continuing to sell, but if people do not buy they you will run out as you buy up your competition. Then, the cheap supply from other people will out strip you and cause the price to fall.

If, however, you can effectively maintain your new price with a finite money supply then you haven’t screwed anyone out of anything, you merely found a right price, the one as you would say, is closer to where the “curves of supply and demand” meet.

Your example is also underpinned on you being active to maintain your hegemony, however, the most crucial thing missing from your post is the tax on the sale. A number of people have pointed this out so I won’t go into detail.

I think this thread has been derailed. Why exactly are we mad about 1 copper undercuts again? 1 copper less than the current price is still less right?
And 2 copper is 100% more than 1 copper, so that’s vastly different, but still less.

You sir are derailing this thread. I posted a link earlier for you to read to help explain why people are frustrated with your posts and believe there is no point in talking with you.

A rhetorical tautology is defined as a series of statements that form an argument, whereby the statements are constructed in such a way that the truth of the proposition is guaranteed or that, by defining a dissimilar or synonymous term in terms of another self-referentially, the truth of the proposition or explanation cannot be disputed. Consequently, the statement conveys no useful information regardless of its length or complexity making it unfalsifiable.

WvW Map Completion

in WvW

Posted by: Crushnaut.8307

Crushnaut.8307

Whoa! So I am a troll because I find transferring servers to take the “easy way out” to get something as trivial as map completion achievment is not the intended way to play this game? How about nutting up, fighting for your server in WvW so you can capture and access the points you need for completion? Too unselfish for you? Might be too hard for you? Actually involve doing something versus having it handed to you? Like I said….maybe not the game for you if you do not understand that.

You’re a troll because of the way you choose to express yourself. If you simply said, “Hey man, best way to get map completion is just to fight with your server each week!” that would have been one thing, but you didn’t, you choose to be a confrontational. I have taken a look at your previous posts. You are not normally like this, so why not express yourself like you do in your other posts?

Check out this site (http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA) to see match ups. The scores are updated by the sites users and approved by admins. So, they aren’t always up-to-date but you should be able to find a server that is dominating enough to get your map completion. Good luck!

New Year, New Server

in WvW

Crushnaut.8307

Hello all, I have decided that with the new year, I will be moving to a new server. Mainly, for WvW. My current server, Gate of Madness, is not giving me the enjoyment that I want out of WvW. I would like to be part of organized parties and run different tactics. I feel my current server will never get there. The only commander I respected on our server does not seem to log in anymore. Last I talked with them they seemed to imply they were done with WvW due to the BS with nub commanders and zerglings (ie people that just play follow the leader).

With that said, I do not care if the server I join does not win all the time. I just want to be part of something OTHER than a zerg. I want to be able to go into WvW and join up with a group willing to run a strategy, and try different tactics. I want organization and leadership. I would like to stay with my current guild, but I would represent another guild when WvWing.

So, do you think your current server has what I want? If so please leave a post below. I would love to hear what you guys think of your servers WvWing.

Crushnaut.8307

Really, the lodestones should be obtainable from any aspect of the game, just like ascended gear should be. Anet already stated that it was a mistake to force people to play one aspect of the game in order to get the ascended gear. Well the same logic should apply to lodestones. I hope to see Lodestones obtainable in more places in PvE and buyable with Badges of Honor, or as a more frequent drop in WvW. It would also be nice to be guaranteed at least a core per CoE run by being able to spend tokens.

Another thing that would help charge core and lodestone prices would be a revamp of the CoE dungeon. I don’t mind the difficultly, what I can not stand is playing the same encounter 3 times a dungeon no matter what path you run. Getting 100 lodestones is grindy enough, but having that same kitten encounter 3 times literally triples the grind.

Have you played any other mmorpgs at all? I am not talking about wow. You had to farm for months one spot to drop some material, to drop some recipe, etc.
Lodestones are just one of the most rarest material out there in gw 2 (some of the more demanded, some of them less) you dont see dropping diamonds in real life from everything, do you?

There needs to be some rare mate that is really expensive and rare so value of the item you craft from it worht it and I dont see the logic dropping them frome everywhere, it would destroy the purpose. They are dropping from certain mobs just to maintan the rarity of the item, you take this off and you can just give Legendary for free next time.

I hate how every new released mmorpg is sadly so simple and every second player demand everything to be easyer and easyer nowdays.

I know charged lodestones are the most expensive ones and they are harder to farm but its not impossible and atleast the weapons you craft with them are the most prestigue, unique ones just because of the fact they required the most expensive materials. Ofcourse they could just increase their drop rate but then you would see 10x more players with sunrise, zap, etc. and the weapons would loose their prestigue.

Less players have this weapon = more prestigue this weapon is

Did you even read my post? Have you read the posts from Anet regarding their philosophy in this game?

The whole point is that this is NOT other MMOs to start, so I am not going to talk about my experience on other games because that has NO impact on this game. Especially when the Anet crew have always said they are not making another MMO they are making GW2, a game different than the rest.

Next, the main topic of MY post was that the cores should be available from any part of the game, just like Anet have said Ascended gear should be available in any part of the game. And it makes sense. Why should I be forced to stop playing something I enjoy, WvW, and start playing something I do not enjoy FoTM, and CoE. That is my main point. Secondary to that, it would be nice to see more variety of locations to farm lodestones in PvE, I said nothing of the drop rates. Next, giving one core per run, isn’t really anything special. You can already use your tokens from 1 run to get 2 “rare” armor pieces, so why not a “rare” crafting mat.

My second point was to make the CoE dungeon MORE FUN. That is it. MORE FUN. If the dungeon was at all fun I would have no problem running it, but it has the same mind numbing encounter 3 times in a row. Running that dungeon once is a grind. Running it 200 times … never going to happen.

The whole point of GW2 is that the grind is supposed to be a minimum. Grind defined by Anet is repeating the same boring thing over and over again. I do not mind a time sink, but a game is supposed to be fun. That is Anet’s philosophy. It has always been their philosophy. So, why not make getting Lodestones FUN?

Or is a legendary literally a stick that you can show everyone to say, look how little fun I have had playing this game?

Charged Lodestone

Any word on a Dungeon Group Finder system?

The GW2LFG site listed above is a handy tool, but we are working on something internally to improve and upgrade our group tool.

I am curious, in the past on the forums when speaking of the future LFG tool and the post above, you mention your “current LFG tool”. If needed I can provide links to previous posts by you and others.

Anyway, my question is, do you really think that a chat bar that doesn’t even have a channel for grouping is a “tool”/“system” for finding groups? IMO that is not a system it is anarchy.

IMO, everytime I see you and the other devs say that it just send a shiver up my spine. It makes me think that you guys think that a chat bar is a grouping system. That you think this is a tool for finding groups makes me wonder if you guys actually play the game. Finding a group using the chat bar without an Arenanet icon is frustrating, time consuming, and an annoyance to everyone. It also concerns me because when I think about how this “chat tool” could be “upgraded” all I see in the future is a new channel for groups that goes across all servers and not being caught for spam when making a group. Just a heads up, that wouldn’t be cool as a long term fix.

That is just my opinion though. I really do not understand what you consider “our group tool” unless you are referring to something you have internally. In that case you are just confusing the situation and making me make the above assumptions.

I hope that does not come across in mean spirit. I am truly just curious.

Overnight Guild

in Guilds

Hello I am looking for a guild that caters to people that work overnights, IE people that are mainly active from 8am – 2pm EST weekdays and midnight – noon EST weekends.

Does not matter what server, I am willing to transfer to a server if there is a guild with a strong over night presence.

About me, I have two 80s, a warrior and a thief. I am working towards getting Bolt on my Thief thus I am usually found grinding in the Cursed Shore.
