does it run on AMD. once bitten, twice shy.

Thanks everyone for the input regarding the questions I asked. There is no need to get snarky my aim is not to indict anet or be involved in flaming. My aim is to avoid dissatisfaction that would be entirely my own fault had I not done research first. The dev notes detailing performance changes were not explicit enough so I came to the forums to ask peoples first hand experience. I did not want to assume the original content would speak entirely for the new content. If and when the game runs within the parameters I can enjoy I will buy and play the expansion, until then I will not. A decision not to at present should not to be interpreted as a negative remark about the game or company as a whole nor should it be interpreted as an expectation for Anet to revolve their business model around me. Those getting defensive do not need to. I’ve accepted the situation for what it is and i’m perfectly fine waiting. There are no new x86 competitors coming to the rescue but progress is slowly being made on the game engine and AMD has a new architecture on the horizon. Inevitably the time will come when I can enjoy the game the way it is intended to be experienced and by exercising patience I won’t spoil that experience by frustrating myself in the present. It’s that simple.
I do appreciate the effort from those who tried to explain the low IPC issues with amd, or the set backs of the d3d9 renderer who did not take on a condescending tone. However as I stated I was previously aware of these issues in the past and was simply questioning how far have they gone to alleviate the problem thus far in my absence. Actual details on this are sparse when searching.
Hope everyone enjoys their time in Maguuma

Thanks for the input everyone. Just looking for a comparison to the core game honestly. It’s not so much that i’m married to AMD as i’m opposed to Intel. I know intel offers vastly superior single core performance and that this games older directx api among other things makes its cpu over head very high and its multi-threaded performance very low. Like I stated, i’m fairly versed in the architectural differences between AMD and Intel and the particular challenges GW2 engine faces. I simply hoped they could have made some slightly better inroads on that problem by now. I know it’s not something often considered by people building what they want to be their “dream rig” but I feel an obligation hold up what little market competition there is. I remember watching cpu prices drop dramatically when AMD hit the scene with real competition to Intel products(where those prices for the most part stayed) I know amd has been lagging for years i’m just not ready to sign up for a return to the days when Intel sets the price however they want. If there was a third option, I’d explore it. To reiterate i am not an AMD fan boy by any means. I’ve often switched between nvidia and amd(ati) graphics cards and usually have a better experience with nvidia parts. I just find it very difficult when developers pigeon hole users into very specific brand hardware to acquire decent performance. I know it makes me kind of weird but the guilt i’d feel would steal the joy from the buttery smooth frames. I have no expectation that will cater to me or that by bickering anything will change. I’m simply looking for a status update as I was previously less than thrilled and i’m patiently waiting for an opportunity to try again. I still have a Phenom II system that performs better in some select scenarios in this game but I keep it in another room and this system plays almost every other game far better.
For the record i’m not requiring that all settings be maxed or that my frames be outlandish. I simply desire frames to stay around a playable 30 fps when the game action gets truly intenseThis is my definition of playable. Regular dips in the 20’s are unbearable. I’ve just experience that slider options rarely make a dent when the world events take place..Screen stutter is like nails on a chalk board for me and long periods of it make my muscles very tense. Everything from immersion to player skill goes out the window when this baseline can’t be met consistently in an average bout of game play.
What i’ve gathered is the expansion has made no specific progress other than that which has been slowly but surely added to the game engine through regular updates. This has been measurable and appreciable but is still just shy of my standards. There are some elements to new zones that are more taxing but those are likely gpu related and shouldn’t play a role in my case. If this progress continues the expansion may be worth delving into eventually and waiting for an additional expansion may be unnecessary. However at present I should save my money for a little while longer based on my recent retrials in world events and input from users who have been playing the new expansion. Just trying to avoid hard feelings so i can give them a fair shake in the future. I see more potential in this game than any other MMO at the moment and i’m sure it is currently making many people happy, I however would not be if I invested my money today with my expectations what they are however unreasonable or inflexible some may find them. Maybe the next quarter year will be the difference.

I run a crappy HP out of box from 2013 with AMD parts and I run it without any problems.
Unless you are talking about an FX chip bought circa 2007; you should be fine.
Any computer bought 2011 or newer with a mid-range or better GPU made 2013 or newer; can run GW2 at quality settings with only slowdowns during massively populated events.
The core of the whole game(both pvp and pve) is massively populated events(at least in my opinion its the main lure). Hence the problem. I don’t care if get 60fps capped or 200+ wandering around in an empty field. Saying it only slows down during massively populated events is like saying It only doesn’t work 70% of the time.

My initial post was rushed. I’m running my fx-8350 at 4.8ghz and it will pass a full week of prime 95(went camping) and ibt runs with out a hitch. It’s actually stable up to 5ghz but i like to back off from max an average of 200mhz once finished.
My recent tests of previously released world events just barely squeaks by with occasional dips below 30 fps if and only if i turn # of character models to min.
The reason i’m still asking about the expansion is I can foresee two things happening. It is not uncommon for expansions to push beyond the visual limitations of the the original release. However it is also foreseeable that newer world boss fights might be designed with frame rate issues kept in mind at all times. The standard game has only recently seemed to reach the point where frame rates are tolerable. If the expansion performs on par that is enough for me to try it out but if it is pushing limits it seems likely the expansion would perform the way the standard game used to. Insufficiently. I’m basically trying to see how large world battle content in the expansion fares compared to the standard game thus far.
Trying to farm dragonite at 18 fps when I last left was simply infuriating. If this doesn’t have a chance of winning me over, i’d rather hold off and give anet another chance later in the future in another expansion or another game. I’d like that chance to be a fair and real one, not an expectation I could have learned in advance was unrealistic. The truth is if I buy it and end up feeling burned again it is unlikely i’ll be willing to make the risk a third time. I’m going to give Anet a second chance one way or another…. I just wonder if now is the time or if next expansion is looking like the way to go.

I’ll preface by saying Gw1 will forever hold a special place in my heart. However I felt extremely burned and left down by the fact that I had to give up playing gw2. It could not maintain decent fps while action was happening. I’m interested in giving the game another try but not if the accepted fix for poor fps is buying Intel products. To be clear this is not a monetary issue. If I wasn’t morally opposed to intel as an organization because of their well recorded historical practice of shady business I would simply buy Intel. I won’t fund criminals with my paycheck now matter how good their product is no matter how bad I need it to do a thing I would enjoy.
I don’t need an explanation of the difficulties, and challenges around improving multi-threaded performance. I don’t need or want excuses from those who enjoy the game. I need a straight forward answer to the two following questions
Can I keep stable over 30fps in action sequences with the game in its present state on top of the line AMD FX hardware. Does this feat require setting the number of characters on screen to the lowest setting to achieve? If it appears that I can, I will purchase the game.
Because top of the line AMD processors can’t maintain a minimum 30 fps in all scenarios(boss & zerg fights) & console games require consistently smooth operation as it is expected form the user. Since the XBOXONE and PS4 use AMD processors it is not likely they would be able to make the game perform well on a modern console until they can make better use of the multi-threaded capability of modern PC’ with lower single core IPC. This would be no small task and would likely happen with a switch to a newer directx api. As long as the game requires top of the line or overclocked high range intel products to run smoothly a console release just isn’t probable.
It’s a shame, I would still be playing this game if it didn’t require intel hardware. My choice to avoid intel is a moral choice regarding their shady business practices, not a financial one. I could easily snag a new I5 or I7 & motherboard and my bank account wouldn’t bat an eye. I still log in once every 3 months to try a boss fight in hopes there had been progress as far as keeping fps up but no go so far. I wouldn’t hold out any hope for a console port as i’m not holding out any hope for PC’s with amd procs.
This would be a worth while addition. It would allow people more freedom to experiment in their down time if they can readily switch back to something tried and true at a moments notice. I’ve seriously been considering rolling 2 extra clones of the same toon just So i can keep a PVE, WVW, SPVP profile stored. It’s nothing new in the MMO world but I think it should start becoming standard. Huge quality of life improvement for people who want to experience all three types of game play on a daily basis.
Go with Essence Snow.3194s recommendation unless u want to spend the extra money. there is no real configuration that will let u play WvW laglessly.
Alternatively you can use an AMD 8350, it would work well, as well.
The SSD is optional but a great thing to have.Great suggestions overall.
AMD’s FX line is 50%-65% slower then Intel for GW2 since the IPC on each of AMD’s core is weaker then Intels.
Do NOT buy a FX8350, FX6300, FX4300….ect, as you will NOT get the top performance in WvW/Zerg/Blob content with any of the FX line.
listen to squishy. My FX-8350 overclocked to 4.7ghz is still slower in this game than my last gen AMD Phenom II at 4.1ghz. Despite the FX performing better in every other game I own. This game craves IPC that only Intel has at the moment. Its the only way to get this game to play properly. Sucks if you’re morally opposed to buying from intel like myself. If you have no such objections and this game is a long term investment for you don’t punish yourself paying 200+ for an FX processor that won’t net you the performance you want. There is no AMD processor that can keep you over 30fps in this game. Only intel can do that at the moment and there is no point crossing your fingers waiting for patch that wont come to fix that.
(edited by CursedShaitan.9720)
Were there any major improvements to the game engine regarding amd fx-processors? @4.8ghz My experience soured in the long run despite much enjoyment and enthusiasm in the beginning. Was anything ever done to fix this?
There really should be a server hub.
Having invested the time in Ascended Holiday event armor pieces i’m extremely grateful.
This was a rock in my shoe, a persistent fart in the air so to speak. It was “trivial” but it sat in the back of my mind and sapped fun from the experience.
I no longer feel abandoned, or forgotten. Thank you for spending the time to go back and correct the little things.
Hope some are coming, i’m running out of ascended things to craft and their still aren’t any good necro theme compatible legendary weapons yet.
I know its partially balanced around how much gold people are willing to spend on gems as well but is it fixed so gold can’t be bought if no one in game wants to sell it for gems? My whole point is moot if you can’t buy gold unless someone else is trying to buy gems with it.
The reason I ask is supposedly the farm nerfs were to help balance the economy and lower prices. If people can dump all they want into gems for gold though it won’t help as they will hold the prices up and force others to do the same if they want to acquire anything within a reasonable amount of time so a limit on that side would have to be applied as well for the logic behind farm nerfs to hold up. To be clear I don’t feel a limit on gems is needed but I don’t think one should be able to covert them to more than 200 gold in a month. It’s damaging to the in game economy. I understand limiting this would potentially limit anets income but if gold acquisition is too slow to keep up with high prices that are being held up by gold buyers it effectively makes the game pay to win. An alternative could be using a combination of gw1 and gw2 methods . Example: low price(20 bucks) expansions to supplement gem store earnings would allow them to not lean so heavily on the store and not radically reduce accessibility to new players by making the expansions cheap. In the end you can’t fix the market by nerfing drops alone. Not when there are other sources for inflation. If there is a limit in place I apologize for the space wasting thread. I only come with criticism because I fear for the longevity of the game and want it to stick around.

No, I spent months on my celestial gear and trinkets and now all of the stats are useless. Don’t spend more on gear than you have to because the stats could be come worthless at any patch.
I will redo the parts in every video that dealt with gear, runes and sigils when the patch hits.
This still a plan. I’ve made attempts to salvage what I could of the hybrid but It still feels lots weaker. I’ll be starting from scratch seeing what I can come up with but interested in what you could come up with.
Now that all ascended is ACCOUNT BOUND, can we please have the Sclerite Karka Shell gain a friggin Agony Infusion Slot?
Yes I actually use the Apothecary stats.
I’ve been begging them to fix the lack of agony infusion on the shadow of grenth and light of dwayna for 5 months now with out response. Good luck.
I strongly suggest the team start experimenting with a logarithmic approach to ferocity. It may slightly complicate the conversion of one to another but dramatically limit the unintended side effects of the change and improve the intended effect. It’s by far the simplest solution to the current predicament. The current change actually exacerbated the problems already present and hurt hybrids more than it did zerkers.
(edited by CursedShaitan.9720)
I’ve made a copy of this post in the appropriate moderated thread. I strongly suggest it gets considered as the minimal level in which it complicates ferocity would dramatically increase its desired effect, minimize its unintended effects, and prevent the need to drastically re balance armor.
It is my suggestion ferocity get a logarithmic scale and not the linear one it has. You would acquire more crit per ferocity in the beginning but diminishing results set it capping crit where its at currently. This would lessen the effect on hybrid and low crit stacking toons and keep the desired reduction in place at the high end. My reasons are as follows.
Ferocity scaled linearly actually improves zerker performance relative to other builds (excluding pure condition builds) even while lowering its total output. Hybrid builds counted on celestial gear and divinity runes to meet their bottom line for crit damage which were hit far harder than armor by the ferocity changes. Hybrids can’t put out enough direct damage now to make up for what they lose in condition damage by going hybrid. Condition damage stats can be sacrificed to make up the loss but then you’re in the same place because you lost damage on the condi side and you’re till significantly weaker relative to other builds than you were before. I’ve seen pure zerkers state a 37% loss to crit damamge. Many Hybrids lost over 50% of their crit from the same patch. As you can see this does the opposite of bringing the zerk meta in line with other styles and forces players to abandon creative hybrid builds in favor of pure condition/direct damage only builds which I feel are less versatile and fun to play and the opposite intention of the patch.
I’m actually very surprised ferocity was implemented this way because the change was described as only affecting full zerkers by 10% and leaving most everything else the same which could have only been done with a logarithmic scale. The linear scale by design has to effect everyone who uses crit damage and because of the way stats are distributed on armor it effected hybrids more than anyone else and pretty much does the exact opposite of promoting build diversity. I will keep experimenting to see if there’s ways to keep hybrid dps comparable to pure condition / direct dps but I’m starting to feel like nothing I do aside from going full one way or the other gets me back where I was.

Celestial nerf hurts hybrid condition/direct damage builds more than the ferocity change does to pure zerkers. I’m essentially a week condimancer that can’t spike now and attempts to reboost my direct damage output comes at too much cost to the condi side. My performance while spiking over conditions before at least comparable to a full on condi or zerkermancer. Maybe slightly less effective but certainly more fun and varied. Now Zerkers and condimancers, are both several times more effective than hybrids. Kind of bummed I Just finished my celestial trinkets set off a few days ago and have to start a zerker set now and go full zerk after a patch that was supposed to stop the pure zerk madness.
It could have been notated in the stats if it was transmutted or not. Or even put a little * next to the name to indicate a transmute. All my rare skin staffs are called bramblethorne now because I only need rabid stats. I was about to get the crossing but like this guy don’t want it if its going to be named something else.
all my staffs are named bramblethorne now including Death Wish, and Final Rest. In fact every staff I make from now on will be called bramblethorne because I only have use for rabid stats on staffs. I was working towards the crossing but i’m not going to bother if its just going to be another bramblethorne.
Glad to see bug fixes coming they are super appreciated and the team deserves to feel proud. I can’t deny though that I am upset its been 5 months since the Wintersdays event and the back pieces from that patch still can’t be infused. Immediately having to recraft the same stats on a different item just to get a back that could be infused is an unfair position to be placed in when they cost 15 damask a pop as a cloth character. I’m the sucker who actually had to add the bug to the wiki so no one else would make the same mistake.
How? I remember someone telling me dyes you’ve already unlocked will become unidentified but that never happened.
As much as a request for “skimpier” male armor may raise a few eyebrows from people its really not that strange. Many of the Armor sets in Guild Wars had a much more exposed “barbaric” look to them that was really cool. Warriors loved that kitten in GW1. Also Necromancer Fissure of Woe Armor was incredible. It was practically just a loin cloth and obsidian spikes growing out of exposed skin and i don’t think armor could get any more gnarly in a game.
- Player/Client -> GameServer bandwidth
- Most cases usually come from players having other heavy traffic going on while playing the game, weak WiFi signals, or their ISP is having difficulties.
- GameServer -> Player/Client bandwidth
- This can happen sometimes in our datacenters during peak hours or when hardware is having difficulties, but normally resolves very quickly.
Let’s be honest, there is a LOT more GamerServer -> Player/Client bandwidth issues than there are the other way around.
I felt the same way but months of tracerouting and my regular packet loss is almost always Comcast’s fault.. It sucks because AT&T dsl would be my only alternative……and who has time for that stone age crap.
I waited a few months for it to get fixed but found myself becoming more and more embittered having invested so much time and money into something for the stats only to not get them. I had to quit playing because I couldn’t stop thinking about how much of my time was wasted whenever I logged in. I’d like to start back up but I don’t want to spend all that time downloading if i’m just going to find it still broken and get distraught all over again.
Out of curiosity after you’ve hit 80, run all dungeons, done all the quests, played a decent amount of wvw, have 5 sets of exotics what’s left other than maxing out appearance/gear. Yeah I know ascended isn’t needed to play the game. I played the whole game with out them now it is all that is left. So i want to “complete” the character. Its just turning out to slow to keep interesting while farming for it.
Yes, lets make the game boring and easy.
Just realized how much I would love to actually design lore for this game.
PS, this was just an example of how using lore to reintroduce old favorites could be used explain how the game we have now relates to the world we once had in a more satisfying way that would actually free them up in the future to focus on dragon and other race lore in the future because they wouldn’t have to use random gw1 lore to make it feel like convincingly like the same world. It will be convincingly the same world through and through. The fallen gods would never be able to pass to tyria and thus would remain a smaller threat than the dragons continuing the stories distancing from God Slaying and move towards Dragon slaying. It ties off a lot of loose ends, and the large surge of deity magic could be used to explain another dragons awakening.
(edited by CursedShaitan.9720)
How this all ties in.
The domain of the gods are in the mists. 250 years ago we had to beg the gods to explore their little corner of the mists. In GW2 we are exploring the mists and mapping it out our self with out their help. . It could be easily tied in that on our fractal explorations or rather our WvW conquests we stumble across the halls themselves. Mostly abandoned a number of artifacts and confusing maps are found and research begins immediately. The humans get really riled up over the discovery and decide to throw a tournament in the honor of the when the gods still communed with us. This concerns the other races greatly as many humans start reminiscing about their glory days, and wondering if a prominent enough display could lure the gods back. While extremely skeptical of this it does stir worry into the hearts of the other races primarily the char . As such the other great races insist on taking part in the ceremony implying they only wish to honor human heritage as a reaffirmation of their commitment to peaceful relations. In actuality though they fear gods returning to pick favorites again and wish to be represented as equals and allies should that happen.
It doesn’t, instead at the end of the tournament after the resurrection of the losing team a portal opens and a shadow beast appears. Both sides must engage in a boss fight. The portal closes, the earth shakes. Two voices are heard in unision
They went through such great lengths to hide you from us before they went away.
Menzies and Dhuum now seat their rightful thrones and wish to help the dragons play.
Players get booted to gods lost swamp. Portals open up and the Statues of Grenth and Balthazar start glowing red hot boiling away at least some of the water around them.
Earthquakes rattle all of Tyria and off int he distance a dragons roar is heard signaling another awakening. The gods had sealed off all direct connection to their realms from tyria but the two disgruntled dieties have long been probing the cracks for for something size able enough to push their way through but none of their minions had ever returned(ie we kill shadow behemoth before he has time to report back). Now that they have located us they are attempting to exact revenge by sending an invasion force. They do not have the means to pass through themselves but are committed to assisting the dragons in terrorizing Tyria as much as they can. The priory/asura are able harness the energies being output through the statues by dhuum and menzies against them and create mist portals that allow us to travel back and stem the flow of their armies. It is revealed that all the gods were once exceptional magic practitioners from mortal races that span the mists who came to embody a specific element of the great alchemy and transcended into god hood like kormir and the great dwarf before hand. The mist are full of pantheons who cycle through the worlds they transcended from protecting them. Occasionally some gods set out on their own creating new life from planet to planet. Occasionally the gods go rouge from their pantheons as many of the natural elements of the eternal alchemy are in fact destructive by nature. At least one the gods (possibly melandru explaining the creation myths) of our pantheon originally came from Tyria and that is why we are part of their protection cycle.
This would not only allow the gods to stop being “human gods” but make room for all the varying mythologies to sort of coexist within the story line. It would also help differentiate the dragons and the gods from each other. The dragons are seen as powerful sentient forces of nature predating everything we know. Massive eternally existing sentient destructive forces of nature unquestioning of their own motives the dragons could be seen as the subconscious of the eternal alchemy while the gods are an example of the eternal alchemy’s own waking consciousness. The struggle between them played out in the lives of the races beneath them.
This could all be delivered in a series of living story events that prelude to another dragons awakening.

HoH was located on the battle isles if I recall correctly. In GW2 we have lost access to that region. According to the Movement of the World this area sank due to the rise of Orr. I think we can still see this area on the overall world map, but those flood waters would need to recede in order for that area to be ‘usable’ again.
We have also lost the access to the gods, and their realms. We’d have to see the return of the human gods in order for them to write their realms back into existence. At least logically from the lore stand point.
Their return would not be necessary nor would further discussion of their presence in lore require human centric story plot. Gw1 lore and subsequent gw2 lore indicates the humans were not in fact created by the gods nor the first to hold their favor. Humans first fell into the favor of the Gods only after Abaddon released the power of the blood stones and granted magic to all the races of tyria. The races of tyria became engrossed in war and struggle. Its because king doric pleaded with them that the races of tyria, humans included did not posses the restraint to wield such unlimited power. The gods saw the wisdom in this and granted his pleas infuriating abaddon.
It is because of this initial wisdom and the looming threat of an enraged diety the remaining gods came to favor humans over the other races. Abaddon subsequently used this favor to instill jealousy in the other races namely our fluffy friends the charr. By the end of nightfall though, humans had removed the threat of abaddon and begun peaceful interactions with the other races of tyria. Seeing the humans no longer needed their back watched for making that controversial decision to split up the stones decide to distance their selves and let the races of Tyria control their own fates.
Alright, here’s mine:
In case anyone’s wondering, the weapon skins are from the Twilight Assault living story. Plus, for nostalgia sake, Lions Arch before and after the invasion in the background.10/10, love the mask, i couldn’t get it to look right on mine, but you pulled it off really nicely. I also love the colour palette for your character, it’s subtle but really good!
Here’s mine, I was going for a stereotypically Ash Legion look, but gasp! there’s some green in there!
Dont really like the look of necro charr
5/10
Not bad. 7/10 but a necro is best in black :P
I present to you Vermine Demonarque. wearing all Abyss all the time
Grenth Hood, Arah Mantle, COF chest/leggings/gloves/boots
Weapon is eye of rodgort.

HOH + GVG , and UW +FOW reimagined inside of their new game engine. Sprinkled midst their normal living story updates it could bring a 1 – 2 punch of nostalgia and newness that would surely cement customer loyalty.
I understand they want to try new things but that should be an expansion of the things they already proved were awesome. Not outright replacement. HoH was such a fun ladder that made you feel like your pvp accomplishments mattered when your team was announced. GvG brough unity to guilds. And UW and FOW remain some of my favorite video game dungeons of all time. COSIGN!
No one should have to be bothered to look up anything when an international time standard is elementary educational curriculum in both the Americas and Europe. Had they used GMT-8 there would have been 3 idiots that couldn’t get through high school running a google search instead of the entire european player base. They might as well have said “when sun goes set-set on western ocean”
I would enjoy 8 player content. I would not want it to replace 5 man content entirely. I’d like to see a range between 5-20. Most of the content being 5 mans. A few 10 mans. and 1 or 2 20 mans. Just for variety. I agree 5 man content works well in most scenarios but there are somethings that can’t be done with 5 man content and there’s no reason to limit themselves to one type of dungeon.
Almost Never. Check your exotics on trade post to make sure they aren’t one of the good ones and then proceed to salvage them. You’ll make more money off the ecto than the exotic itself most of the time.
had i known i’d have taken a totally different route… perhaps the official wiki should be modified to mention this as it makes none at this point and insinuates any ascended back item can be infused in this manner..
(wiki edited). Hopefully it’ll save someone else the frustration so they can make an educated choice.
“Bug: Infusing this item returns There with Yakkington: A Traveler’s Tale (Infused)”
— wiki pages for Shadow of Grenth and Light of Dwayna
That is incorrect. You can’t put the items in the forge to begin with. I would trade my shadow of grenth in for a back piece that could be infused(like there with yakkington) if possible.
(edited by CursedShaitan.9720)
It would be a dreadful moment to introduce a new continent – there is absolutely ZERO reason to do so and it would actually detract from the current storyline. Our issues right now are firmly in Tyria. If someone attacks one city on your continent you don’t flee it – especially not when you still have 5 massive cities standing.
I would be like new york getting nuked and everyone in america throwing their hands up and saying “i’m headed to kittening europe” It just wouldn’t go down like that.
This reminds me of fansy the bard.

If you’ve got a nicer graphics card or even two weaker cards in sli crossfire its a decent visual improvement that won’t cause much of a hit at all. (1frame in my instance) since its more likely you are cpu bound anyway. If you find a significant frame drop after everything finishes reloading though with it may not be worth it. I keep everything as high as i can and make up for lost frames with model quality / quantity settings.
had i known i’d have taken a totally different route… perhaps the official wiki should be modified to mention this as it makes none at this point and insinuates any ascended back item can be infused in this manner..
(wiki edited). Hopefully it’ll save someone else the frustration so they can make an educated choice.

Shadow of Grenth and Light of Dwayna Canth be infused right now. They might put out an infusion recipe for them in tomorrows patch.
has there been any specific mention of this from the team or you just thinking it would make sense since there’s a patch tomorrow? Just curious. Thanks for the input!
I was under the impression the back pieces had the ability to be infused with 250 Ecto, a gift of ascension and glob of coagulated mist essence. My Shadow of grenth even after being removed from my character does not show in the forge. Its already a bit frustrating that it clips with both my grenths hood and arah mantle but not being able to stat properly really makes this a frustrating as the back piece isn’t exactly the cheapest to craft/ fastest to collect relics for. Will i have to start collecting relics from scratch again? I would have been a lot more judicious with them had I known i’d have to buy a separate fractal back piece. I see there was one other post 2 months back that had no response referencing both Shadow of Grenth and Light of Dwayana but no response. Is this a bug that could be remedied fairly quickly or should I sell of the ecto and start working on other pieces…
It wouldn’t take a second of dev time.
Whoa. Full stop, right there.
First of all, it would take a LOT of Dev time to make sure that, on that server/those servers, the PvP works as intended. I very much doubt that there’s an “On/Off” switch for FFA PvP built into every zone.
Second, it would create servers that are different from all the others. Even small changes in code can result in big bugs. Not to mention, some normal events may become a problem if the zone is FFA. Dungeons and fractals would be even worse. Should they just leave them broken?
Finally, they have to PAY for the server. Even if it’s just a virtual server they’re renting from another company, that costs money. And unless the people playing on that server intend to foot the bill themselves, that means that the server costs come out of the game’s budget. A budget that could have gone for developments to the rest of the game.
It will take serious Dev time, and money. It will have EVERYTHING to do with us.
Sorry but they do have the ability to flip it on. They’ve done it live before in beta. The server would bring substantial extra cost but considering the number of players who have steered away from this game because of its lack of World PVP and how many they could draw in with that added option they shouldn’t have trouble covering one extra server.

In fact a World PVP server would probably be the perfect solution for PVE players who hate PVP and don’t like having to tread thorugh PVP zones for map completion as they could stop counting WvW zones. What PVE’rs fail to realize is these mixed zones are being forced on them to try and make the World PVP players happy when all the PVE+P players want is their own server so they can leave the PVE player in peace.

Go to EOTM, there’s your PvP server.
The point of World PVP is challenging PVE or “increased dynamic challenge” to environment exploration. . Not the PVP in and of itself. Because of this WvW is not a suitable replacement because its sole purpose is PVP and doesn’t offer the same experience. The PvE element in EOTM would have to be greatly increased to get the same effect…problem is…….the PVE player base strongly objects to what little is in there now. They are mad they are having it forced on them. I don’t want it forced on them. I just want a mirror of the content normally seen with PVP FFA active so the PVE players who really really hate PVP dont have to stomach it in special mixed zones.

yea that sucks. Just be glad you didn’ try to mix it with the arah mantle. The skull nose just barely sticks out at all :P
