Map completion

Cushnahan.7058

Right, so I’m at 99%, and I am only missing some PVP stuff and one poi, which is in Wayfarer’s.

I have actually finished the Wayfarer Foothills map BEFORE this POI was added. (But I have NOT got ALL of the shiverpeak explorer? I am missing 2 areas.. confused as to how many I need to have… stuff? I mean I got the shiverpeak explorer achievement, only not the full one?)

So my question: Do I need that POI for 100% map completion or does it not count, seeing as I’ve already got the map completed beforehand?

Feedback from Anet dev/staff would be awesome! (Or, has anyone tried this?)

That’s like the worst thing I’ve ever seen happening. It almost tops me getting kicked out of Nr2 because I dared to go to the toilet.

Anyhow:

You should be very ashamed. Just because someone’s not uber pro, they still helped you to run the fractal until the Maw. What kinda person are you to kick them? That comes from someone who’s at fotm 34 and constantly drags people up to at least 20 with 0 AR. I don’t see how that is a problem. Especially if you already made it to the Maw anyhow.

People like that should be banned on the spot.

Totally support the OP here, as it is really stupid not to be able to wear all kinds of armor. It limits the game, is one thing.

The other is: To all the people who QQ about “It would ruin the game if an ele wore heavy armor”- What? Is your fun in the game dependent on someone else’s armor? You better quit right away. Does it bother you so much that someone else wants to be a knight while still casting? Why don’t you find another group then? You’re not forced to gear your ele with heavy/medium armor. But what you are forced to is gearing your ele with light armor. Enjoy the restriction.

Dear Tyrians,

Teabagging is looking for new recruits! Most of… I mean, ALL OF US are MEGA STRONG, incredibly witty, and love each other very dearly.

We do enjoy PVE mostly, but some of us are big on WvW. As we are currently only 5, that’s a problem. We do normally focus on fractals, dungeons and PVE in general (Like running stupidly around maps and farming stuff).

We’re all DEAD SRS about being PRAW, and we are, as I said before, MEGA STRONG. Anyhow, most of all we’re a little insane and get along very well.

So if you’d like to join a crazy bunch, drop me a PM in game, try Letleaf. (It’s also important that you’re on Ruins of Surmia, or at least willing to switch to there.)

Right so here’s what I noticed: (And what my guild does as well, ALL THE TIME)

When it comes to the Underground facility fractal, PUGs normally immediately leave the fractal (when it’s at the beginning). Some will be already so kitten off by it that they will leave at Nr.2

Now looking at two guilds I know of:
Even if you’re already at the third fractal, and you get that one: PEOPLE JUST CLICK LEAVE.

Oh yeah, I do too. And especially my guild, because it’s such a LONG bothersome thing. >_>;;;

Discuss if it should be taken off the fractals.

Improve it.

Human characters have a huge range of hairstyles and the likes to choose from. Other races are very very limited.

Sylvari:
‘Hair’ styles are very limited. I think there should be something as ‘flower hair’. Just look at a lily, or a daisy. Something like that. As well as on-skin-pattern, I’d like flowers, moss, random twigs and such. Or mushroom ears.

Norn:
Hair styles are all ugly, Norn men ALWAYS have chest hair. Male norn head looks ridiculously small even on the thinnest and most slender body form.

Charr:
The difference between male/female charr is merely the voice.

I’d be happy if we could get more hairstyles (especially for norn and sylvari), as well as the option to have a small-built hairless Norn man, and more ‘fragile’ body builds for Norn men too. Not ALL of the norn men could have been born huge, could they? In general, improve Norn, Sylvari and Charr character creation.

GW2 Longevity and you!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

After one week of playing I was lvl80 on my first character and did dungeon and fractals grind for one week. By then I was bored out of my mind.
I started a new character, did not like it at all and quit until a week ago, because I wanted to see if the Wintersday event was any good. Turns out it was not, it was annoying and especially if you were late to it, it was hard to find a group to do it. (Was not hard, so I did all of mine with 3… but nvm that) The rewards were mainly accountbound, and I don’t like either of the minis.

What I dislike:
Guild Wars 2 is way too easy to play as everything gives EXP. There are no lore-rules (Such as that fire does more damage on trolls, ‘holy’ on undead, that Flying monsters can only be killed by ranged as they fly), which make the game repetitive and boring. Every monster is practically the same, in about 50 different disguises. There is no weakness of a certain monster to anything (except for those potions +% damage on Flame Legion/SoS/etc).

The maps are practically all the same. If it’s called Gendarran Fields, Queensdale or Kessex hills, it looks alike. Same goes for Brisban Wildlands, Caledon Forest, Mount Mael or Snowden Drifts/Foothills/Dredgehaunt Cliffs.

There is no really exciting map in the entire game. Comparing it to GW1, GW2 failed at creating nice maps. Secondly, the maps are way too huge. IMO one map should be one area. It’s really bothersome to run across the whole of Frostgorge Sound to get to Fireheart Rise.
Also: The variety of monsters is not huge enough for such vast maps. Monsters are repetitive as well as the maps they are on. If you look at real life, animals vary from area to area, but on GW2 it’s always the same, just with a different name.
While in Maguuma Jungle there is the Jungle Spider, in Snowden Drifts it is the Cave Spider and in Queensdale the Spider/Hatchling.
Same goes for Trolls, Jungle Trolls, Ice trolls and Cave trolls. Other examples would be the Wolves, bears, minotaurs, skales, drakes, raptors. Practically they are on every single map in the game (except some are not on the starting areas, surprisingly) which makes the game REPETITIVE and BORING.
There is also the fact that any monster is everywhere, without regards to its built. So in a really icy area there’s worms (which usually like warm and moist spots), there is fish such as barracula in almost every lake (be it warm or ice cold) and so on.

WvW is the most boring feature of them all. The maps are all the same, there’s like 2 or 3 events you can do (and if some don’t ‘get attacked’, such as the caravan, there is no reward at all), the maps are incredibly tedious and the monsters are the same as outside. (I expected something more like a few humanoid mobs running at you because after all it’s supposed to be a war, right? 5 players from RoS VS 20 from RoF is not my idea of war. Should add some Mobs to it too)
Then, you cannot find a group for WvW and without it’s boring as well. Suggestion: Make WvW party-dependant? Aka you get sorted into a party as soon as you enter the map.

What I like:
Events, especially meta-events. Those are fun to do and get you in touch with other players. The more, the merrier.

Fractals of the Mists: All except the dredge one are hella fun. I don’t think they are boring at all and I love doing them. In fact, that is the only thing I do in GW2 anymore, but I often get frustrated by idiotic people such as ‘Only the heavies have to pick up the cultist hammer’ and people who fail swamp with 2 portals in the group.

Result:

For me, Guild Wars 2 is really not worth playing. That’s a face that all my friends agreed on and like many, my guild of friends with about 20 players is now reduced to 2.
Guild Wars 1 was the best game ever made in my opinion, and nothing can ever compare to it. I had high hopes in GW2, but they were very much disappointed.

There seems to be a lot of developing in GW2, but it was all for the worse. I realise that the game took long to make, and that it IS a brilliant game because there is new content and it has a unique overall style, but: It is extremely tedious and freaking boring. Guild Wars 2 is huge, too huge for the lack of variety.

I guess I wont be seeing how it develops, because after a month I’m already so bored that I cannot continue playing without falling into a slumber on my screen. I’d rather study for my exams, and that’s never happened to me before in a game. (I used to play WoW for 5 years non stop, and although I hate Diablo 3, I have to admit it is better than GW2.)

Personally, these are my top three:

1: Release the crystal desert map. Since the first day on GW2 when I checked the world map, I hoped that I would get to see it. And I’ve tried to get there for a few hours until a friend told me that it’s not released content yet. Sigh.

2: A third way into Straits of Devastation. I usually don’t do my main story line, and I strongly dislike the Sparkfly Fen map. But that’s just personal preferences.

Story Mode Dungeons

Yesterday I was doing the story mode on Honor of the waves. My party was quite good so we were quick, and got to the final boss/es.

At those, I had a powercut and was not able to logg in for an hour. Needless to say, I still cannot start Explorer mode and I did not get any rewards. My issue now is with the Explorer mode, because many people tend to overlook that there is a dungeon such as HOTW because all of them only wish to farm CoF/AC and some CM.

Now here is my suggestion:
If a player A has finished a dungeon’s story up to (let’s say 80%) he should get the story ‘done’ even if he should dc throughout.

Discuss.

Bosses: Often if you die before he is dead, the boss will not drop anything for you. This happens in all of the fractals. Say you die when he’s at 20% or so, and you are defeated so most people wont res you immediately (which is fine because there’s no use risking your life to save someone at that point). Result: No drops from the Boss for you. (Lornarr Dragonseeker is an example.)

Magic Find:
So recently I got a full Explorer’s Set with Traveler runes and please don’t ask me to put together all the MF % because I suck at maths. I also wear those 3% MF trinkets and what not AND I use Peach Tarts.
I played Honor of the Waves Story yesterday, and got:
0 Exotics
1 Rare (lvl80)
1 Elborate Totem
1 Heavy Icy Bag

The rest is just not worth mentioning in detail, a few spikes, ice stones… that’s it. Does that count as abnormal behaviour? Because I got about the same without the added MF.

Souldbound Exotics salvaging

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

Okay, let’s try this again. I really do not know why the mods deleted the first one, because it DID do some constructive discussion but whatever.

Anyhow, recently I’ve salvaged a few of the Exotics I got in fractals which are soulbound and no use to my character. (Eg. Medium Class getting an exotic armor for heavy, or just random stats that are not very useful.)

I’ve been rather disappointed with the results which were:
1: 1 Ecto, 1 Iron Ore
2: 1 Iron Ore
3: 2 Gossamer Scraps

Now I am really unsure what to do with the rest, because at this rate selling them to the NPC would probably be more profitable. (But I refuse to sell Exos to the npc because I still have hope)

I really think that the Exotics you get from fractals should not be soulbound. And if soulbound, at least make them class-specific drops, because what else should a Thief do with a Heavy Whatever plate armor of Whoever or Air.

I also think that none of the exotics should be soulbound, but Legendaries should be upon acquire. (But there’s already a thread for that, so nvm (;)

And now to add discussion: Discuss!

Serious question about what MF does for you

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

MF actually works for me.

I put on +3% and +10% and a peach tart (Total of… ugh, my maths: 39% or something) and got an elaborate totem and some yellows from SoS. While that’s not very fancy, this is my alt char.

On my main, actually got A full MFset with 170% and get some exos every other fractals. (Okay might be exaggerated, but at least the drop rate is better.)

Do you WvW? If not, what's stopping you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

Here goes:

Bad and boring maps, sucky commanders, people simply ignoring the requests for party/squad and without that I can’t be arsed to try and help the ungrateful bishes who want to win. (Note: I’m from RoS, where everyone shouts at players to go to WvW because we keep losing, but they don’t give us incentive to go to WvW at all by ignoring p/s requests, as I said)
Then: Sucky rewards, it’s hard to find events (except for repetitive ‘Kill this caravan’ things), no sense of having achieved anything when you actually gain a fort, protect your caravan does not give rewards when there’s no enemies (You still spend time guarding it, right?) No real benefit in holding a fort or anything. Slow exp if you’re on the losing side (which RoS is.), no story to it, balls hard to even get 50 kills for some monthly achievement

Thou Shalt be Broke

Cushnahan.7058

I agree gold needs to be fixed. Especially at lower levels.

At 30 something I already paid 2,4s for waypointing. Not to mention 1,3s each WP on the same map. As I do loads of events I jump between waypoints a lot.

As an example:
On low lvls I mainly to Foothills because of:
Taigan WP: 3 events right beside each other, short walk to a 4th
Then all WPs surrounding the maw: About 5-10 events if you count maw, wurms and grawl events
WPs close to SoS lair: There’s 2 escort, 1 resulting in about 3 follow up quests
All the fort WPs: 2 champs running about there, sometimes fort occupations, veterans, more.

In the Foothills it is very beneficial to port around a lot. You get from A-B very quickly and can do multiple events in an hour or two. I also jump between Foothills and some in the surrounding maps, because I know some good events there too. I really think those high costs are really inappropriate.

6th playable race, what's your top 3 pick?

in Lore

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

1: No doubt Tengu, I love their appearance and they have a proper history. And they are a proper race in Gw1 too. (I know they are on GW2 too but you don’t really see much of them, yet)

Now as for the Kodan: I hope they never become a race. If you want a bear, go to WoW and do the panda. I honestly think the kodan are a waste of space AND time. I haven’t even the slightest idea where they came from, only that they arrived on the Honor of the Waves which was a rescue ship. I forgot if there even were any in GW1, although I played through the whole of EotN too.

Largos: Oh hell no those giant fins.

As for the other names races (mostly the water species): I don’t think so. I’d assume to ‘not dry out’ them would have to be close to water all the time. Imagine a bar like stamina, just worse.

Recovering Deleted Characters

in Suggestions

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

After this happening to me, I read through the Account Issue part of the forum and found that more people than me want to have their characters recovered and their account HAS NOT BEEN COMPROMISED. Now I understand that ANET cannot distinguish between two users (illegal) if the ‘compromise’ happened from One PC, one IP, supposedly the same person. Now as those cannot be proved as hacks, nothing is done to recover those characters.

Yes, there are reasons for that, such as exploitation of purchased Gem boxes, and what not. However, it surely could be determined if I am trying to be a fraud/scam or whatever, but as this is not the case, here is my suggestion:

For a fee (Payable in Gems OR real currency) make it possible for non hacked (‘non compromised’) Accounts to be recovered. If neccessary make the fee high enough to avoid exploitation, and also make the non-purchase of gift boxes/exploitable material a requirement for rollback.

Comments and/or Support would be highly appreciated.

The Skipping culture

in Suggestions

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

I totally agree with OP.

Especially in point 2. where I agree that more events should be added for better rewards. Maybe even make the dungeon rewards dependant on how many events have been completed within. Thus it would be possible to make (P2 Lavafield) a seperate event, as well as the bombs, etc. I am aware that they cannot be skipped anyways. The reason behind this is that this way, a ‘minimum reward’ could be introduced for completing all ‘compulsory’ events.

I’d also want to include Fractals of the Mist, bonus level. Especially AFTER level 20, it is a drag to ‘rush through it’ because at some point, someone WILL fall and WILL be unable to res himself because of the mobs. Not to mention that entering into battle, being stunned while you jump also contributes to the possibility of falling.

And in general:
I don’t know how many people here are really effin’ RICH, but I enjoy killing the mobs just for the loot I can get. I don’t particularily mind if that is only 20c from 1 [Glob of Glooby Gloo] or whatever, because 10 times 20c are 2s already, AKA my next porting fee. Especially in those parts, there is also always the possibility of dropping Lodestones, equipment, Emerald shards/crystals for crafting… etc.

A greater Variety of Monsters

in Suggestions

Posted by: Cushnahan.7058

Cushnahan.7058

A few months ago I started my voyage into the depths of Tyria. As a human, at first I naturally stumbled upon bandits, Drakes, Skales, Centaurs and Harpies…. more centaurs… more bandits, more centaurs, more bandits… hold on.

I was not particularily phazed by the millions of centaurs trampling Queensdale, Kessex Hills and every surrounding area. Okay, there is a story to it.

By level 15 I had my first encounter with a mob that literally makes me skin crawl: RAPTORS. I avoided them as much as I could, but kept stumbling across them on literally EVERY map I went. 10,000 Jungle, Eagle and Black raptors later, I finally found a patch of snow and thought “Okay raptors are so lightly feathered, they sure cannot survive in this cold weather.” Happily, I made my way through the snowy part of Gendarran fields, turned my camera and immediately froze dead at the sight of: ANOTHER RAPTOR. I get it, ANET loves old, ugly, scary and unsettlingly creepy monsters, but REALLY?

At lvl 25 (I greatly skipped the main storyline) I ran into my next doom. Undead. But it was not merely 20 maps (I finally found ways to avoid those 20 raptor clustered maps) but I found undead on EVERY, SINGLE, MAP, IN, THE, GAME (Oh except for Queensdale/Charr areas).

At 70 I finally ventured to the nice temples, to see if there were any good items up for grabs from the Karma Merchants. I was promplty overrun by a stampede of Zombies, screaming ‘Kill… everything’. God, nooooooo! It took all the fun out of finding a group and estinguishing high priests, never mind comleting the maps. Sigh.

Basically those two sorts of mobs (as well as Drakes and Skales) overpopulate the whole of GW2. Is there a possibility of maybe replacing SOME of them with say for example… wind riders, grubs, ghosts? Or maybe something more appropriate than Raptors in icey mountains?

I’d be delighted if I could finally finish those last maps, because honestly, raptors and undead make my skin crawl.

Call me crazy, but I really think it would be a good feature to have. If you’d want to wipe your account and ‘make it new’ the achievement points would still stay.

So however, why? This might sound a bit like an attempt to illegally sell an account, but actually my reason is: Once you have all achievements, you get bored, right? And I am not in the category of completionist. I’d rather, you know, do things on time. Like stop the time how long it takes me to get 500 Drake kills, or whatever. It’d add a bit of competition to the game to me.

Then I ‘dare’ go on an expedition from College (Marine archeology, very interesting) in which I FOR ONCE left my laptop at home.
I come back to see, oh my cousin has spent the time randomly making characters and deleting them as well as mine on MY account. So the first thing I do is complain on Forums (grin), then I make a support ticket explaining it all.
*I just came back from my holiday a few days ago and noticed that my account was compromised. However, my cousin admitted to have been the cause of this dilemma.

Not only did he delete my character, but also sent another ticket to you asking about restoration and rollback. (I have closed it now and hope it has not caused trouble for you.) However, I would like to have my character back and I believe the incident occurred after Dec. 01, so it should be possible to restore the data.

Since I don’t know which methods of verification you use, I can offer to attach a copy of my passport (with name and age which are the same as registered with the account). Unfortunately I also had to reinstall windows on my computer and thus my screenshots got lost as well. (I could also prove this I suppose.) I also still have the serial number (Which I am including in this mail).

Please let me know if you require further information and details on the matter at hand.*

The response was an automated E-mail and I felt like “huh”, so I answered to the ticket saying I still need their answer.
*As none of the steps in your automated response apply to my problem, here is some additional information. The deleting happened approximately about at the same time as the first ticket was created. (Dec 11)

Furthermore I want to explain that I never shared my account with anyone, but that my password might be easy to guess for family members as it (basically) is my birthday (slightly modified). I have been using it for a while in numerous different games, and never had any problem. It is also the same as my E-mail and Support password. I find that easier because at times I find it hard to remember things and normally take my laptop with me on travels too, only this time I failed to do so.

Hoping for a soon answer, because I would very much like to participate in the Christmas event.*

And after this I get a response from Anet (finally) saying:
After reviewing the game logs, I was unable to determine that the account was accessed by an unauthorized individual. As a result we will be unable to offer any restoration for this incident. In the future, I suggest that you not share your account information with friends or family.

Alright, I am really angry and very disappointed by ANET now, because apparently the Tech did not even read my ticket. I stated clearly, that I did not share just that the password is easy to guess.

And how am I supposed to prove ‘unauthorized access’ if it’s been done from MY laptop with MY connection? Excuse me, I do have extended family who live with me. Oh my God?

I can’t probably spend another four weeks trying to lvl a character to 80, never mind all the items and gold I collected. Very disappointed and still hoping that Anet will see sense.

Grateful for any suggestions you might have. :/
