50% win chance is actually a representation of a fair matchmaking system.
to get 55,60,65% or more you have to actually be good at the game.
So, if u cant handle that. Just quit. Evolution is about adaptation. You either adapt or ur gone.
good luck.
Everything is good now. People need to stop to cry all the time.
Queues are fine, balance is fine everything is fine don’t touch anything anymore.
TBH, there is always room to improve. But if we are the first ones on forums criticizing every single change the devs decide to implement. We should also be the first ones on forums recognizing when things are better or are going in a good direction.
ANET is doing this for us because we are their business (literally).
So, at least lets recognize that this season seems more promising than the previous two and keep giving them CONSTRUCTIVE feedback.
TBH, the 3 who went home are probably bad players.. BUT… theres only one thing worst than a bad player…. and thats a quitter….. I cant support an AFKer in any game…. thats a worst call than a bad rotation….
I have no respect for AFKrs even if their team is horrible.
You guys seem to miss the point here… There is only one way of learning…. and its by practice… AFKing a match is just a wasted opportunity to practice how to adapt to challenging situations. And you will need to learn how to deal with those situations if you want to get pass Diamond.
Again…. I have no respect for AFKrs…. nothing justifies it.
I don’t see much of a difference.. it’s still stacked heavily towards one team before the match even starts.. it’s just the same as last season.
Well, as I mentioned in OP, it might be a little early to conclude about it. Lets give it a week or 2 and see what direction it takes.
are you kidding me?
season 1 was good, season 2 was kitten, season 3. I think I’ll just throw in the towel now. also the games feeling more and more clunky. I click skills that don’t happen, or I stop moving after using one, or get stick for no reason. It all just adds up to torture. never mind the MMR. Screen shot of my last game. it was a close game, that is not my problem, it’s the 2 emerald in my game……. it’s just a sick tormented joke.
Man your match ended 500-494 thats evidence of fair matchmaking… You just validated my point.
If u lost that match was prob because of a mistake from someone on your team or a better call from enemy team. But your match was definitely fair. Look at that score.
System still encourages players who hit the beginning of a new tier to throw matches in order to ride a win streak. This can make solo que a pain in the kitten . They need to make players able to lose division.
I have been soloQing since the season started, and most of the games are feeling winnable. No blowouts so far.
Lets give it a week or 2 and see how ppl feel about it.
So far so good for me…. like a million times better than past season..
I think that the division placing was key.
System feels more fair.
If thats the experience for the majority. I have to congratulate ANET for their work.
Guys, lets be honest, the under-performing professions like Wars and thieves were buffed. The over-performing ones were nerfed. The only class needing some rework is the guardian. All the others are viable and more balanced than past season…
I can say already that S3 will be better…. whether u like the nerf or not… it still the truth.
ANET is doing a relatively good job compared to the previous months/year.
Why don’t we give a break to ANET, they took a lot of feedback from season 2 in terms of matchmaking, balance, MMR algorithm.
They have a lot of work on their hands.
I don’t mind waiting as long as needed for a S3 with better matchmaking mechanics than S2.
Personally, I’d love (though I know I’ll never get) an option in the Inventory screen settings that I can switch on, which will do the following:
1. Automatically opens any bag/box I receive.
2. Automatically salvages all rares and below received from the bags/boxes.
2. Automatically consumes all luck received from the bags/boxes or salvaging until I reach luck cap.
3. Automatically consumes all drinks received from the bags/boxes until that all drink-related achievements are completed.
4. Automatically deposits all depositable mats received from bags/boxes/salvaging.
5. Automatically processes all sand received.
6. Compacts my inventory. That’d be my little christmas right there.
This would be great.
“For the last 6 months, I’ve been told daily by players how great and well designed ABL is/was.” – Tyler Bearce, Game Designer ANET
So, now stop complaining against ABL. You are not the majority…
2v1 is the common BG style.
They have the biggest active wvw population in game, and yet they double team regularly….
But you will notice, they drop like kittenroaches on even-numbers open-field fights (If they take them, which is very rare). They normally hide behind keeps unless they outnumber u 3v1. They even try to sandwich smaller zergs….
I think they understand their place. Absolutely no chance against even numbers.

Do you know who Vallum is right?
He is a renowned streamer who has played multiple tournaments… The other guy Fivedawgs is a casual player. Point is, Vallun could probably do the same with any bunker spec class in Unranked.
This video means nothing in terms of a metric.
yeah ive not been liking the amount of loot in this game for some time now. most of its useless and only serves to waste my time.
I feel the same, but if they want to keep it that way, no problem. At least give us an “open all” OPTION so we can simply press “open all” > “deposit all” and keep playing. That would be a significant reduction in my clicking and less stress for my carpal bones….
No one will be negatively affected with a simple QoL option like that.
(edited by Cyanon.1928)
We can apply that logic to player titles, weapons, wings, pve icons etc etc etc…
Don’t expect it to change. Those emblems simply serve as the bragging rights that any dysfunctional gaming community need in order to feel that they have value.
It is good to have a pro league and its good to have leaderboards ans stuff like that, but the second you add a rating system, elitism and insults ruin the game for the majority of the players. And the little symbols are the way people judge you as worthy or not… gfg.
Alpine force you to fight while DBL promotes the ppt and hide…
just throwing this out there, having your bags fill up with whatever makes people buy gems to make more room. Food for thought.
You might be right, but again the OP is not asking for elimination of loot of any kind.
The OP is suggesting a simple “open all” option.
And btw using your logic (which I think is accurate). Then an open all option will fill up bags even quicker. So, Happy players and happy business. win/win for ANET.

The thing is, GW2’s loot economy is based around drooping and salvaging large quantities of items. In order to pay out what feels like good loot for killing stuff, the “trash” greens and blues have to be somehow manageable without requiring people to visit a merchant every 5 seconds.
In order to cut the number of bags, they’d have to seriously increase the number of inventory slots be bag, or offer some sort of median vendor payout for said bags.
Increasing inventory space doesn’t solves the “click all the things” issue, and offering a vendor payout for unopened bags would just feel like a penalty for people not willing to open the bags and loot things “properly”
Without completely changing how the loot>materials>crafted items economy works I can’t really see a better option than what they started in the HoT maps, use less bag types so at least when you’re looting the bags stack better. Anything else would require not just an overhaul of loot, but of the whole loot and crafting systems to a point it wouldn’t be worth the headache and require stupid amounts of resources to to band-aid somethings that’s a pretty core part of how the game’s economy works.
Plus, I like taking the down time to open a bunch of bags. It’s like when you’d trick-or-treat as a kid and then come home and inventory all the loot. It’s kind of relaxing after several hours of murdering stuff.
Nothing of this will change if they add an “open all” option. You and everyone else can enjoy opening thousands of boxes every month while the rest of us who care about our carpal bones can still enjoy opening them all at once.
(edited by Cyanon.1928)
+1, would like to see an “Open All” like Essences of Luck, but for the chests.
That would be the simplest and best solution for this.
ANET: At least tell us if its possible, if the devs are willing to do it and what would they need to do in order to make it a reality.
Our carpal bones will thank you devs.
It isn’t something that was decided as much as it is something that just happened.
Then they need to work on it…
Again… is as simple as “open all” option… no need to develop a new technology for that.
These are preventable inconveniences that can be fixed with minimum effort.
I wrote about this once before. But basically the bags and boxes in bags is a programming shortcut to manipulate loot drops.
Ok great, thats fine. But they can give us an “open all” option just like the “consume all” option we already have for luck essences.
Our health and well being should be considered when they made decisions that require us to be clicking millions of times every month…
Please support this thread,
It concern us all.
Guys dont be dramatic. 10 seconds moa was evidently too much. With 6 second Moa you have a chance to get out of the moa with at least 10-15% hp if you are good dodging and moving while moaed.
The nerf was good and needed.
On the other hand, don’t expect ANET to kill the classes that you don’t play because you feel entitled to demand it.
Again, the nerf was fair and necessary. There was no need to destroy the mesmers completely just because some of you don’t know how to counter them. GET GUD.
Whats wrong with you people.
For the past 6 months ppl has been flooding the WvW forums saying that DBL killed WvW and asking for Alpine back.
Now you get Alpine back and you want DBL again?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE.
Please support this thread,
I think it concern us all.
Its a little shame not having a dev response on this topic.
Seems like the importance of this issue has been overlooked fro too long now…
You guys are never happy….
Mesmer changes were needed as well as Revenant.
You want ANET to KILL the viability of the classes that you dont play…. You dont know anything about balance because your opinions are always biased towards your pref. classes.
The changes were good in combination with the previous changes. Whether you like it or not.
It was a proportionate nerf
There’s no need to kill the class viability. So calm your kittens guys.
Still cant confirm or deny xD
“Literally every one of those choices is pointless
Score, score, score…?
Who gives a kitten who even win?
All you get is bonus rank up chests
ANET pls"
It happens in all games, you dont open boxes unless u have space, If you run out of space, you make more space… or dont open the boxes….
Simple day-by-day decisions we all make…
The coding team just need to make sure that if you press “open all”, once your inventory gets full, the remaining boxes don’t get opened..
This is a real QoL update much needed… It’s about protecting our joints/writs/fingers health.
Oh my god people, you are impossible to please…. If the devs stay silence you whine, If the devs talk… you whine…. If the devs listen to us… you whine….
for kitten sake… this is a game… play or quit… but stop complaining about EVERYTHING.
Thanks Gaile Gray for the update.
Why are we OK with having to open thousands of boxes containing more boxes and more boxes that ultimately give us more bags with more boxes?
I’m starting to worry because my wrist is starting to feel some pain despite having a very ergonomic computer setup.
Are we people OK with that?
If feels unnecessary extra stress for our hands.
ANET, can we at least have an “open all” option?
Please show us that you care about the well being of our joints…..
Well, tbh YB has been #1 server for a long long long time and its natural for the other 2 servers on the tier join forces against us. Despite that, we at YB always managed to win due to our 24/7 coverage.
During first overhaul week one of our key CMD had to take a break and our coverage was severely affected. That in combination with the BG population increase led to a hard first week..
BG is now able to queue 2 blads at 3am EST, so they basically take everything every night.
In adition, I know about a few YB guilds that arent really trying too hard because they want to YB to drop to T2 so we can fight different ppl.
Fighting the same 2 servers for months/years is getting us sick…. we need something different in order to get motivated again.
DB is doing a good job this week and we have had some fun fights against them.
Solution:
1. Bring Ranked back using same MMR from last season played, then reset MMR when next season starts.
2. Reduce pip range from +/-15 to +/-10
3. Nerf Moa (less duration)
4. Avoid class stacking
As for skilled opponents, this is really just a perception problem as some players don’t feel comfortable playing in a ‘Ranked’ mode (Plus the rank 20 requirement). In a perfect world matchmaking would just handle people who don’t take unranked seriously by way of their MMR dropping, but I understand the barrier to entry of ranked acting as a sort of filter.
~“Our metrics say the unwavering impression of every respondent so far is wrong, regardless of their actual on hands experience in game.” XD
But let’s go with the “perception” way of thinking. If it’s just a perception thing then it’d make sense to remove unranked, and simply have a “Queue up and play” button. If you’re PvPing you’re pvping with the entire pvp community, off season, on season, and let the MMR sort everybody out.
There you go. That’s the best way to do it. Everyone Que-up in one game mode. Everything will balance overtime. And no one need to worries about the relevance of the game mode.
Like I said, from my experience the games haven’t been like that in Unranked, if anything it was Ranked games that were like that. So my Unranked games have actually been a better quality.
Below average players are happy with it since they get to play in higher quality games.
Above average players are not happy with it since competetive games are somewhat not excistant as you can see in my screenshots.
Wrong, I consider myself above average player (reasons not provided on this post) and I like competitive matches, but I’m supper happy of being able to have fun around playing multiple classes and multiple builds, some for testing, some for trolling, some for fun, some for learning.
Remember, not everyone enjoys the same things. And it has no relation with player skill.
Awesome, I’ll test it and give u some feedback. Looks fun and nice. And you play it very well dude!
Guys IT IS TOO SOON to have any opinion on the issue.
Give it a few weeks. Everyone wanted to do WvW and see the changes. Ofc we will see ques.
But that is great! That means we still have a vast amount of ppl interested in WvW.
I would be more worried if there wasn’t queue times yesterday.
Now please, settle down a bit and let things normalize before you come up with an opinion.
Ranked is great if you hover with a true performance team all of the same skill level, who grow at the same pace or if you are able to play only with others of your actual skill level.
Ranked is a problem if you have many friends/guild mates who are of mixed skill levels. During S2, no one wanted to play with each other. It was advantageous for high MMRs to avoid low MMRs and vice versa, for the sake of positive match making results and pip gains. This was detrimental to the community player base.
Unranked has been great again so far since S2 ended:
- Everyone is playing together again. Mixed MMRs can group together.
- People are playing more frequently, Players are coming back to the pvp scene.
- Players don’t judge each other “so much” in unranked.
- Everything is more viable in unranked. = having fun playing different builds
- Que times are much lower in unranked with population combined.
During ranked seasons we have an effect going on where competitive players stay and less competitive players go away to find something else to do because the avid player base that keeps the casuals interested in pvp, doesn’t have a single encouraging reason to even communicate with less competitive players during ranked seasons, let alone form a team with them. This effect is purely negative on spvp guilds.
I love ranked seasons but I also love unranked down time so that I can actually play, teach and have fun with friends & guild members who would never otherwise be able to compete in a premade legend division team.
I think that two months of season vs. a month or two of unranked is a perfect mix. It gives guild leaders & team leaders, time to organize and teach before the next season. This time is important for those who work with more casuals & intermediates.
Ah… so to narrow down what I’m saying:
- Ranked needs to be situated so that mixed MMR teams have some incentive to play together again.
- Unranked is fine as it is and is a crucial community glue that not enough players recognize.
Incredible well explained post. +1
This post is explaining very eloquently all the problems that metrics are unable to show.
In every sport, teams use the off-season to practice, assemble, recruit, learn new tactics etc. They also do practice games and scrims with other teams.
But, if ANET decides to turn ranked play on 24/7 to make a minority of hardcore competitive players happy then there is a better way to do it.
I propose adding the options Unranked Play and Solo-Q Ranked 24/7 and then a Team-Q Ranked option only playable during seasons.
This, because one of the most frustrating things about current ranked play is being part of a group of soloQ players and get matched against premades with voice comm etc… There’s no sense of fairness or true competition in that. And at the end of the day, the vast majority of the player base prefer soloQ anyway (see the snowball?)
I didn’t think solo queuers could be matched with a full premade now?
According to patch notes, u should not, but I have been matched against full pre-mades in Diamond division many times while having a full solo team.
Either way, If you are soloQing u should never ever be matched against a premade, even if the rest of ur team is on party.

If you like competition so much why don’t you assemble a competitive teams and go to tournaments. There is plenty to practice and learn during the off season, you as a member of a competitive team should have plenty to do in that time.
I mean…. assuming you DO like real competition. You can also play in all the community tournaments that are going on as I write this reply.
Oh wait… You call soloQ ranked being competitive?
Can I have your gold please? Also any mats/globs/skins you leave behind!
Thanks, Bye!
I feel like 24/7 ladder would create a lot of burnout.
Thats correct Evan, off season is very important because it give us time to learn new classes, diff builds, take breaks, mess around, play for fun (the ultimate purpose of any game). Competing all the time is not fun for all the people.
Additionally, many competitive players tend to bee too emotional for ranked and they start their insults rhetoric since first fight of the match is lost. Thus, destroying the community aspect of the game. This is something your metrics don’t show, but people are a lot nicer off-season in comparison to season.
I love the idea of having breaks between seasons. Am I actually enjoying the off season a lot because I’m playing many diff builds on several toons. Its very good experience!
I have been observing that in my games.
There is about 1-2 seconds delay even if within 600 range.
SnR seems to be bugged.
Here’s my feedback for Skyhammer.
Positive observations:
1. New design promotes fair matches.
2. Skyhammer de-caping was a clever idea that manages to keep the crucial role of the cannon.
Negative observations:
1. Total elimination of the breakable glass floors made the map less interesting and less unique.
Suggestions:
These are aimed at making the matches more interesting by stimulating map awareness and strategic thinking skills while maintaining a high degree of fairness overall.
1. Bring back breakable glass floor BUT make it only breakable by Skyhammer (This will ensure fairness).
2. Add a secondary structure bellow breakable floor so if a player falls (knocked, feared, bad step) the player can run back to the upper platform (This will promote strategic thinking skills).
3. Once floor is broken, keep it broken for about 20 seconds (This will stimulate map awareness).
End result? Interesting, fun, fair and skill based matches in a unique map.

Just wanted to congratulate ANET for releasing the closest thing to a great patch they have ever released.
Excellent job on WvW, PvE and PvP (except for not nerfing chronomancer).
I’m glad to finally see things going in the current direction. Thumbs up for ANET.
Oh and make sure to take a look at my Skyhammer Feedback post in pvp forums!
Heres my Feedback on Skyhammer.

Agree with you.
Mesmer needed a nerf. Expect 2 mesmers in every single S3 ESL match.
Portal Play is a huge team carrier.
If you wanna keep portals, at least nerf the Moa duration by 50%. That way, they can still have 2 Moas but they can’t waste time writing /say while their clones wreck you in Moa.
Example given by Lord Helseth at minute 30:50 Moa to Evan Lesh (ANET Gameplay Programmer).
This is Him, killing 3 players by himself using his little Mesmer last night after patch.

00:22:30 – Game starts
00:30:50 – Must-watch-moment where Evan get’s moa’d…
