The biggest problem with the jumping puzzles in the game is figuring what what platform let’s you stand on it or knocks you off.

It sometimes makes me want to throw my keyboard through my monitor, because theres nothing I can do but watch my character fall to his death.

It not fun, its plain frustrating and francly, makes me want to log in to these episodic things less and less. I had to ask my Guild Mates for an hour to figure out what we even had to do. Just throwing out a map and slapping some new achievements in is not really an incentive.

Why do we have to collect weird crystals put on platforms that knock you off every once in a while for no good reason? What’s my characters incentive to become so suicidal?

Anyway: Please fix the terrain! Some textures make you think you can stand on it and then they propell you into the ground with 200km/h.
This trial and error is fine in Super Adventure Box, but when I have to pay a little fee and run up and climb to the last spot I was, every time the terrain or the 2 or 3 skills feel like not working properly it is not fun.

I think some people simply don’t know what MF is supposed to do:

I think it works!

Why some people might think is doesn’t is the quantity of good items found.
The assumption by some people is that there is 1 roll on items on a mob.
I think there are 2:
FIRST you get a roll on a mob, wether or NOT you even get anything,
then a SECOND roll to determine (out of the creatures loot table) the rarity of the item(s) received.
When I run around in the world, I get (w/o MF) around 1 rare item a day.
In Southsun I get a rare ever 15-30 min. or so.

So I would tend to say it works fine.

That however doesn’t mean I think it’s a good idea to have it as a stat in the game.
Keep the banners, keep the guild buff – hell keep the GemStore buff, I want you guys to do fine financially! But remove all MF gear – maybe be nice about it at let people trade in their MF exotics for a different set or something.

Escaping also doesn’t work, because of the kitten aftercast that looks you in place afterwards.
And theres no way to determine the distance you will go, as you generally keep running for about a second after releasing the button.

In general the lack of precise movement makes this unplayable, at least for me

I love this crab tossing.

I think I was just in a game with you. The only people who do seem to like it are those with a secret formula to keep away from people as much as possible. You had a 200 or so lead over the second place. Something I don’t understand though is that my charge forward stops at about half way through the skill animation, then I stand there, doing nothing, for 2 seconds. Easily enough time for anyone to take the crab from me.

I assume that endurance buffing traits help.

My question is: is there some kind of trick to using the charge forward skill? Why is mine just “stopping”. For me, it’s sucky. People who can do it seem to love it. I will try to grind out the achievements but eh, I might not be able to stand it enough for that, especially if my charge forward skill is never “fixed”.

Who’s idea was to put 3 karka veterans, rolling arround every 2 seconds, getting you killed and looking at your screen for 10+ seconds…

It makes you rage sometimes

Same person who thought a “dumb luck” achievement would also be super fun!

For me its all of the above, but generally the mega imprecise movement.
For something like this to work your engine needs to allow for precise tossing, movement and skill mechanics.
Sometimes when one guy is holding the crab, 4 people punch him:
I get a “Crab Grab +3” on my screen, yet I never see myself holding it, because someone else’s punch grabbed it from me even before the skillbar changed.
Then the whole targeting issue and the super annoying Charge ability make this horrible to me.
As a player who is used to FPS mostly, this kind of minigame is terrible.
I can’t be bothered to play it anymore.

Elite Skill Slot

The worst part about Elites is that most of them are Summons and Shapeshifts.
I don’t want a stupid AI Bot on my side – If I liked that I would’ve played a Ranger.
Shapeshifts also don’t come in handy, as you cannot heal while transformed and you can’t pick up allies who are downed.

For me as a Nekro this is annoying: I have 1 Summon and 2 Shapeshifts with Huge cooldowns. I always bring the “Take Root” Sylvari Elite, at least this gives me 3 secs of Invuln. that I can time with a big attack (The turrets are a nice addition, but usually die pretty fast)

With most classes you just feel like theres no real decision to be made, which Elite to bring, as there is most likely 1 good-decent one and the rest is all crap.

More uses to skill points

Why stop at the Skill Points?
I think all currencies could benefit from a more wide usability.
Gold, Gems and for the most part Dungeon Tokens are fine the way they are, but Pristine Fractal Relics, Skill Points and Karma are just getting more and more and I don’t know what to spend them on.

It will show you the shortest path to the story step start, but it doesn’t know which gates you have access to. Zoom out on your map and you can see where the actual story start is located. (The portal marker is just directing you to the next zone.)

I’ve noticed that often times now, but can this be fixed please`?
Or better yet, just let us all use all 3 different portals once we have the story step unlocked that allows us to.

Not only that, but theres also a bug with the Underwater sets!
I have 5 Runes on my gear + a sixth on my Aqua Breather and a Crest on my Footwear.

Still, I get displayed that I have all 6 rune upgrades active.
(This raises the whole Aqua Breather problems again which I have tried to point to in another post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Aqua-Rebreather-Proposal/first#post1443185 )
Please fix this and also try to educate players through tooltips more in regards to this.
Most players, I reckon, don’t even know that there is an lvl 80 aqua breather out there!

The main issue with the Dragons is the number of people participating and the server-hopping mentality they went along with the last loot table readjustment.

What needs to happen is for Arenanet to completely randomize the event times so that people can’t just open their game whenever their Browser says the dragon is coming back.
It was a overall bad experience anyway, with the unplayable laggy fights, but now that theres garuantied Rare loot add another 150+ players to the mix.

These open world battles shouldn’ve been put into the game until the servers can handle it, which they clearly can’t!

This is by far the easiest fractal!
The problem that most groups have is that they are not in any Voice Com and that makes coordination harder!

I really hope ANet puts in more content in which doing it without VoiceChat is just impossible. This is the kind of content that is missing I feel.

When you coordinate your group correctly you can finish the thing with 5 or more secs left on the timer.

A Deeper Combo System

Only upper (so, the last) field working for finishers.

Also with projectiles it’s the last field that a projectile moves through that dictates it’s combo ability.
Thus if 2 large area fields (light and water) are placed so that each rim touches the nucleus of the other, shooting a projectile through will take the combo ability of the last field it exits. (in this case then Regeneration)

In the unlikely event that ANet has plans of implementing a greater variety of cosmetic options for breathers in future, the gear slot can be treated as a cosmetic slot which comes into effect in the appropriate context.

Good Idea, haven’t even thought of that.

Aqua-/Rebreather - Proposal

First, I do realize that there are probably other topics than this already (I posted in one already) but seeing as, how I would say, more important issues and ACTUAL proposals are being pushed down the pages by the neverending sea of topics such as “MOUNTS!” or “DUELLING NOW” and the likes, I reserve my right to bring this to your attention again.

First, I made a video about this, for those who are to lazy to read, you can listen to my argument here (YouTube)

Now for the ones eager to read:

The Aqua Breather served one great purpose in this game. It is the stylistic underlining of the missing breath meter which makes the underwater experience in this game much better than in most other games, not just MMO’s.
There are however several problems with the breather that I feel should be adressed ASAP. These are the following:

1) The style aspects:
Not the most important, certainly, but I feel that something can easily be done about it. Make them dyeable! It has the dye slots on it – you can see it in the preview, but why then doesn’t it carry over into the game world?
It’s understandable that you can’t hide the breather from display, as it makes no logical sense NOT to wear one, but why then can you unequip it?

2) Not enough stat variation:
There’s only 1 type of level 80 aqua gear, depending of course on you armor type (which I would argue makes no sense, but hey…).
Please bring in more variation in statistics. If I wear full berserker gear, I can’t underwater. I’m stuck with the default stats on the ONE Aq.B. I can get.

3) Aquiration
This game has so many cool currencies and possibilities to aquire gear, why then is the only way you can get a lvl 80 Aq.B. through Karma?
Coin, Crafting, Battle Tokens, Dungeon Tokens… Do any of these sound familiar?
Which brings me to…

4) No Rares or Exotics
This really doesn’t need to be elaborated on.
Why isn’t there any higher rarity Aq.B.?

Proposal for a solution:

REMOVE the item. I’m not necessarily talking about removing the visual Aq.B. from the game, but just get rid of the item slot. This solves all problems above (except maybe the dye option):
1 – You don’t have to worry about stats, as you’re helmet/mask stats are carried over to underwater combat.
2 – With no item to buy, aquiration is no issue -also the rarity will carry over from your helmet.
3 – You don’t have to buy an additional Rune just to function optimally underwater.

@Arenanet: Should you NOT go with that proposal and maybe in the future expand on the Aqua Breather variety, please put in a message that let’s people know, that they loose all statistics from their helmet gear underwater. I feel a lot of people are not familiar with this.
Especially if you wan’t to expand the underwater experience, maybe open up the Sea of Sorrows or add new Fractals with underwater parts, the playerbase deserves the get the possibility to equip themselves optimally!

It looks silly on my character, and it looks like anet doesn’t want to expand on breathing apparatus.

Please remove the breathing apparatus so that I can use my helm instead.

I was just about to post this myself, but it seems someone came before me.

Why not just make all Waypoints in the cities for free from wherever you are? That way people aren’t always gated through LA and will go to craft or pick up some banked items from the nearest town, not always taking the Mist portal to LA, then through LA to another City.

Stuck in the light beams

In Malchor’s Leap I did the defend event @ Garden of Ilya and while rezzing an NPC lying in the doorway the light beams closed on me at didn’t lock me in, or out, but inside them.

Also, I have a little bit of an issue with some events inside confined areas like this (like the Hylek Camp in Sparkfly Fen or the Nebo Terrasse Settlement) that you sometimes can’t find a way into to participate in any events there.

I personally don’t play with minions (AI sucks) but as Necros we only have the F1 button is use, make F4 a Minion Suicide Trigger, why not?!

The Staff #4 Skill on my Elementalist still has me rolling backwards and creates a trail of fire, however noone (not myself or any random plaer or group member) can create combos with it.

I tried it a bunch of times but it doesnt work (or at least I do not get any heart displayed)
Static Field + Rock throw (Staff#1earth) works, so does Lava Font + Rock throw.

The problem with trial weekends is that a) you have too many people in at the same time (server stress) and b) a lot of people might not have time!
The 3 guys I invited didn’t play at all that weekend and even only 1 guy dowloaded it all the way.

We found something that works 99% of the time:
Any attack combo field (burning, poison, weakness, chill) and then a mesmer throwing his greatsword in.
Note: The combo attack needs to be the finishing blow, or else it won’t count!
Took us a while to figure, but it should work for today!

However this directly counters logic.

They don’t want us to stay in one place, yet we need 500 tokens to get a gift for our legendary. Logic dictates you do it all now in as quick a time as possible rather than stretching it out over weeks.

With the tokens I think if would be a great thing if they would add the possibility to buy tokens from the token vendors for other token vendors.
I f.i. ran CoF with my guild a couple times, but I have no interest in any of the items.
Why can’t I trade in my CoF Tokens 2:1 for, let’s say, some Blossoms or Tears – or even Fractal Relics.

Mercenaries and Heroes in the GW-2

There’s only ONE case for which I would allow anything like heroes.

And that’s WvW.
If there’s empty player slots in the map for your world, you’d be able to go to a NPC that deals with mercenary contracts, and hire up one mercenary NPC that would follow you around.
They would then follow you around to compensate being outnumbered.
Players enter? They’ll take back the slot and your mercenaries will be gone.

Terrible idea!
Being outnumbered on a map is a driving factor in warfare!

What Arenanet needs to do about WvW is remove the necessity to get into it for Monthly Achievements and Map Completion, that way you will have less cues and fewer people who are just after the temporary rewards!
I always feel bad when I go about collecting Vistas with my Alts instead of helping out.

As to the topic at hand:
Culling is already bad, so you want to give everyone 1 or maybe more extra NPC to follow them around?
For the personal story you already have NPC by your side.
This game is not concipated for this kind of feature. Just as mounts don’t fit in!

Future Profession Ideas

I don’t care for increasing the level cap!
They balanced everything around Lvl 80 content and you already have the downscale mechanic!
I think in future expansions they will roll out a handful 60-75 maps and a dozen 80’s.

As for the new Profession: What would that be?
They have covered almost all major architypes with what they have.

No, I think, as you already proposed, introducing more weapons is the way to go!
Your Collection is quite good already!
Scythe (2H) for N,W,R
Whip (MH) for G,T,R,El,(M)
Crossbow (2H) for R,En,W
Magic 8-Ball (OH)?
Machetes (MH/OH) maybe?
I think it’s tough to come up with more, but nothing’s impossible, right?

Widening the usability of torches is definately a good idea! Also Rifles and Shortbows seem a bit restrictive, although, looking at the professions, that’s understandable.

MiniPets and Deposit all collectibles

I think it’d be pretty awesome to have a couple minipet slots in your Hero Panel (or even 1 slot). That way you can just keep them there with no worry about depositing them to your bank or having to buy an invisible bag for your minipet.

It’s really annoying to constantly click your Minipet back into appearance when you hit a loading screen!
If we just had a Mini Pet equip slot in the hero panel, that would be awesome!
That way it will be deployed automatically anywhere and you won’t accidentally deposit it.

Skills on Town Clothes

The Checkmarker isn’t a bad idea, but it’d be simpler to add a Keybind that changes you into Town Clothes.

I also think Town Clothes should change your Skills with emotes and stuff.

Long jumps and speed buffs would risk making Jumping Puzzles even easier.

Well seeing as every profession has a speed buff of some sort anyway, I don’t think including them on town clothes would break anything.

Besides, the only thing hard on jumping puzzles is not being able to see anything.
My Sylvari has no problem with jump puzzles, while with my Charr I completed hardly any of the one’s I found.
But we’re getting off topic…

Skills on Town Clothes

So this is the problem:

You guys made this cool little feature that will hopefully be more utilized once Halloween hits, but right now, noone uses it and here’s why:
With the lack of skills and the inability to enter combat it’s very hard to navigate with town clothing on, as you cannot give yourself a speed buff without entering combat mode and the armor popping up again.

I would suggest either not making town clothes strictly usable out of combat and/or give movement skills on the 1-5 slots like a speed buff, a long jump, and evade roll and so forth.

With these changes implemented, you not only should soon add new ones to wear, but also include a checkmarker “always wear town clothes in towns” so you don’t always have to press H and select it upon entering a city.

What’d you guys think?

Ya i think the idea you had with the mining picks came up before, and it makes total sense too!
I don’t see a reason to buy oricalchum picks because I still have black lion ones and I cary about 10 different tiered gathering tools on each of my characters just so I don’t waste a Mithril tool on a Tier 2 material.

Not only that, but some items are just displayed wrong!
Like the Sylvari Tier 2 Weapons are not displayed properly (the crystal parts are missing).
Also a light bulb toggle (like in Sylvari Character creation) would be nice, so you can actually see effects.

I thought the Ascalonian Weapons skins were quite dull in the preview, yet after I saw them during the night on a guild mate I changed my mind to get them in the end.

Also, some armors block the view of some weapons, like shield mid sections are clipping with the back armor, skirts clip over daggers/focuses/axes and so forth.

Also, please add the preview ability the the AH soon!

Armor Repair Costs Add Insult To Injury

I don’t really have a problem with the armor repairs.
I have to repair my armor once every 2 dungeon runs.
I pay about 8s for repairs and 2 runs give me 52s so I’m still in 44s in plus and that’s without selling all junk items from the chests.

WvW is the same. If you go in with a organized group it’s super profitable (and if you don’t have a group go get one! because w/o playing WvW makes no sense)

For general PvE I can only say, I play guardian and necro.
The guardian almost never dies and the necro needs to pull a lot of random mobs with immobilize or pull/push skills for me to not be able to kill them/run from them like a bunny.

Why are we even discussing this?
I’m playing a guardian and I can’t withstand aggro from most bosses in dungeons for longer than 10 secs.

If you are a thief and you keep dying you are either not taking advantage of all the great movement skills you get or you are specced wrong.

I’m skilled all out Toughness and Healing Power but that ain’t gonna block a 20k-crit-kill-shot. CoE anyone?

When completing the renown heart at the Penzan Pirates, you cannot wake up drunken pirates with water buckets. They dissapear in your hands and nothing happens when activating the 1 skill
