Sorrow’s Embrace (SE) paths 1 and 3 are really easy. Just on path 1 make sure you avoid the sand piles before the golems or else you will asplode.

I really like SE – it needs more love.

Me too!!! I play a healer elementalist becuase I was told it can’t (shouldn’t) be done. I really like my elementalist right now – as she’s speced =)
I run a dungeon guild The Garbage Men that’s mainly focused in doing dungeons and killing things from the entrance to the door. Everyone in the guild is okay with people playing/specing however you want and just playing to have fun. We did a dungeon run with 1 elementalist, 1 mesmer, 2 hunters, and a necromancer and came out in the end just fine. So we’re pretty open to grouping however. We’re also starting to dabble in Fractals.
You don’t have to switch servers =) You can group up in dungeons cross server.
You also don’t need to rep 24/7

I have a guild that spans multiple servers so I understand that the influence is gained/spent independently on each server. I was really just wondering why, for instance, if I activate a boon that says “all guild members” why it only activates for my server. [I did this with the 3 day magic find buff]

Is it because of conflicts with WvW?

If you’re into dungeons than The Garbage Men might be for you. We don’t do speed runs or exploits- we kill the things between us and the door. A few of us last night dabbled in fractals – which was super fun! (if you’re looking for endgame stuff) You don’t need to rep us 100%, we’re just trying to build a community of dungeon goers. While not all of us are over 25, we’re all mature and I daresay, have a sense of humor.

I love dungeons, I don’t know why – I just like them a lot. I’m happy there’s a monthly dungeon run. But I was thinking, I don’t really like WvW ( I don’t really know why either.) I would be kind of annoyed if I had to do WvW for a monthly. I would still do it because it would give me an excuse to get better at it =P

So maybe the montly “dungeon” could be a swap between Dungeon, PVP, and WvW. Then theoretically, everyone would be happy.

If you’re just looking for dungeon runs you can join a guild on any server because you can run dungeons cross server. You probably wouldn’t get the benefits from the influence though (depending on how nice your guild is ^.~).

I was wondering what hosting services people use for guild websites. I would prefer something free or inexpensive as I have a smallish guild and really just want a place to put updates and relevant information. It doesn’t have to be forum styled and I’m hoping for something user friendly. I’m kind of new to this so before I just faceplanted against Google, I was hoping people had some websites that have had good luck with and like.

I’m the leader of The Garbage Men and we are a dungeon focused guild. We do not do speed runs. Things between us and the door get killed – there’s no exploiting/running past mobs.

We have a smallish group of members but we’re all really active. I’m mostly on in the evenings EST (I have work x.x). I do play a lot on the weekends so I’m on – and most of the guild is on – during the day on weekends.
We have a mumble instead of Vent but the guild daily message tells you how to set it up.

The guild is mainly comprised of people I’ve found online and we’re all really nice and have a sense of humor =)

I’d really like to split up the invite/promote/demote. I want regular members to be able to invite people.

Basically you need to unlock the ability to access guild missions in the Art of War, Economy, Politics, and Architecture areas of the guild upgrades.
From there you can purchase different guild missions, Bounty, Trek, Rush, and Challenge with influence. The earliest one you can get is Bounty and it costs 30,000 influence (not including influence needed to get up to tier 5 in Art of War).

As for actually completing them – when your guild “activates” they you have a time limit to reach the objection. Theoretically your guild members will be chatting with you and tell you where to meet up to do them.

We don’t however have guild missions up and running but here’s our current plan. Since we have members that are cross server, we’re researching economy and politics first so we can get the 3 day magic find/karma boosters so we can get those going for weekends. Then we’re going to save up money to buy the influence needed to start the guild missions.

Was this done by design? Like did the developers mean for you to only be able to have one stack able sigil at a time be active instead of two different stacking sigils create their own stacks?

We have a mumble so you can chat with us too =) You don’t have to change servers because you can dungeon group with people cross server. Since influence is independently earned on servers and we have a lot of members cross server, if you stay with us, and like us, then we can give you permissions to use the influence on your server so you still benefit from being in our guild.

We don’t do speed runs and right now we’re mainly focused dungeons however we do dailies and events too =) Our current server is Crystal Desert but we have two officers on Sorrow’s Furnace so they’re using the guild influence there too. You can always guest on a different server but for dungeons it doesn’t matter because anyone can join a party even cross server. We’re all very nice and we just took a couple of members on their first dungeons last night! It was super fun and we’re all really patient. Speed runs aren’t our thing so you don’t have to worry about slowing us down.

For the most part we’re EST and on weekdays I’m usually on between 6pm and 11pm.
On weekends, I pretty much play more than I should so time zone shouldn’t be a problem.

Tommyknocker says he’s on quite a bit during the day so time zones for him shouldn’t be a problem for him either and we’ve got a person from Australia and we synch up pretty well with them too as far as timing.

(TL;DR)It’s Too Long Won’t Read Summary: We are a guild focused on dungeon runs but we kill stuff along the way because it’s fun. We’re basically building a LFG dungeon community and it doesn’t matter what server you’re on or what your character/spec is. We’re working on guild missions (Almost there!). A Bit about Guild Missions: We’re working on them. Although we’re a small guild, I really want to get these up and running because I think they’ll be a lot of fun. Art of War IV is queued and I’ve been saving up money to buy influence. So just because we are a small guild doesn’t mean that Guild Missions are out of reach.

Here’s Why Killing is Better:
1) Congratz! You made it to the boss. But did your group wipe? It happens, the bosses are hard. Do you now have to go back to the way-point alllllll the way at the beginning just to spend a ton of time trying to run through them all again? How much fun was it the first time? … How much fun do you think it will be the second or third time?

2) Did the rest of your group make it? Did you not? Do you have to try and go back and re-run through the same four mobs over and over and pray that you make it? Do you find it annoying? We do! If you die and have to run you shouldn’t have to go back and push through them alone.

3) Did you make it – but that one person didn’t? Are you waiting for that person for what seems like eons? We don’t think waiting should be part of the game. It takes time to wait for someone to run back, so you might as well be slaying stuff and getting some money from it.

4) Do you like money? Sure there are easier ways to get money – but you’ve already decided to do the dungeon, right? I make at least a gold every run and if you have magic find on you, you’ll probably walk out with at least a rare.

5) It’s fun!! We all signed up for Guild Wars, why skip half the content of the dungeons?
