the WvW Population needs to be balanced out or there is going to be alot of major issues
keep it simple since there are 3 teams no 1 team should out number the other 2 teams combined
say Red has 15 players and Blue has 20 players
Green should have a limit of 35 placed on themI do want to see more balance in WvWvW, but this is the worst possible idea ever. A server should never be punished just for having more players.
The best and only reasonable way to help the outmanned servers is to make the Outmanned Buff useful and helpful. It would be a simple change for Anet to do, I have no idea why they haven’t done it already. For example, make the Outmanned Buff to give the outmanned side some stat boosts so they do have a chance to fight against bigger numbers. Also, it would be great if upgrades would cost less for the outmanned side because who sane person would waste money on upgrades if they know the money will just go to waste.
My idea would be to have a Gradual Outmanned system like this for example:
Slightly Outmanned ( +10% to all stats, -25% upgrade costs)
Outmanned ( +20% to all stats, -50% upgrade costs)
Seriously Outmanned ( +30% to all stats, -75% upgrade costs)I know it’s not a perfect solution, but it’s the only reasonable one in my opinion. An outmanned buff working like that would give the outmanned server a better chance to fight against big numbers and would probably make more people join the battle and upgrade towers/keeps due to lower upgrade costs.
Another good idea that caught my eye in these forums some time ago was an idea of a NPC Army that generates for the outmanned server and randomly attacks enemy camps/towers/keeps to help the outmanned server. The NPC Army wouldn’t be anything too strong, but a serious enough threat to keep the spawn camping enemy server busy every now and then. For example, the army could be easily taken care of with a few siege weapons and defenders, but an unmanned tower/keep with no upgrades would fall to this NPC Army.
I know this one is much more harder to implement and I don’t know if it is even possible, but it would give some much needed help for the outmanned side and also make the PvDooring side to have at least some challenge if all the human players have gone to sleep.

Sea of Sorrows has only got this high so far because of night caping at prime time SoS loses almost everything
if SoS wants to hold stuff at prime time they need to work out how to move maps spreading across 4 maps and fighting WvW as a 2v1 wont proably wont work in tier 1

every week the guild leaders and guild commanders get together and decide which borderland that guild will be in charge of and at what time zone. every week it’s different.
we are spread out because we – smartly – have been making sure the strong guilds like MERC, PRX, Tysm, FOE and more are all utilizing their members to ensure maximum coverage.
you are not invited or included in this discussion along with mz pure and a handful of others because you refuse to work together. as soon as you enter a map you expect everyone to follow you just because you paid 100g for a title and an achievement instead of asking what the current commanders are doing.
all you do is criticize. because of this you are not part of the discussions had during these meetings. you are a non-factor to SoS and worst of all most of your tactical advice is usually pretty bad.
i’m sure you’ll respond to this in your usual first person snarkiness but know this – the majority of SoS WvW’ers have taken measure of you and no longer care.

as a head-start SoS’er i’m glad we have clawed our way up to the top. our oceanic players tend to be more into pve and i’m sure this once in a gamelife event combined with the free trial is going to make any wvw presence this weekend spotty at best just like halloween. maybe worse. i ignored halloween because it comes every year. this one i can’t ignore personally, so you won’t be seeing Tricky Smurf on the battlefield before monday.
your Alliance has almost no real Commanders “main” guilds like FOE sit in towers with the Commander icon on saying “my guild is holding this tower” with 5-10 players while the server loses keeps (IN THE SAME MAP)
if you keep doing what your doing spreading out its only going to hurt Sea of Sorrows and make players leave the server on mass
your Alliance would sit in maps holding 1 tower when another Borderlands map would lose 1-2 keep’s (explain what the point of that is?)
your Alliance constantly ends up attacking both servers and has no idea how to Manipulate the other servers or Sacrifice to your advantage
Sea of Sorrows gets most of its points from night caping and the more spread out you are the less PUG/RANDOM players that you will have join WvW on our server it will be like self destructing

Simple way round this is to use Squad Chat.
That’s the real reason for Commanders Icon and not as a lot of people seem to think that it is the lord and master of the map.
remember ArenaNet stated that WvWvW was capable of holding up to 2000 players thats 500 per map at 166 per side aprox.
If used correctly each squad could be placed in allotted areas rather than mindless zergs.
But I quite agree with you Muting on WvWvW is not needed as there have been times when I myself have needed to call for backup yet couldn’t do so because of the mute, result I get trolled for the loss of the area.

good work Anet your making it almost impossible for Commanders to lead in WvW without wanting to quit this game
Commanders have to say the same thing alot EXAMPLE : “Follow” “Hills is under attack” “Waypoint back to the Garrison” and so on the game has been getting Commanders muted for weeks
this last Patch seems to of increased how often you will get muted in Say Team and Map chat making it very hard to give information to your server
every time your muted you get a 30 second mute if you type something within that 30 seconds the timer resets

the player numbers are always changeing it would be much more enjoyable to have a real battle

Doesn’t work. If the points are turned off for a map your enemy controls, you will never go there to cap the stuff back because it’s better off not counting. So you’ll never get rid of outmanned, and the spiral continues.
people don’t want to sit in Lions Arch waiting for Eternal Battlegrounds queue to pop if they are interested they are going to join a Borderlands map
most players do not play WvW for the points its just 1 of the main factors to do with morale of the players being active
when big Guilds/Alliances are working together and set times or Rally players to hit a Enemy Borderlands they can go into a map that’s 100% controlled and give the other server a real fight
also on the weekends every WvW map has a queue on it all 4 maps are full so there wont be any outmanned buff there
its more about off-peak times
do you enjoy a 50v50 battle or do you enjoy when your server is 25vs50 with no chance of pushing out at all and spend all your time running supplys

making things complicated just causes more problems
taking a fully upgraded keep full of supplys is very hard the high population servers are going to have a big advantage still when the lower population servers enter the map and turns point’s back on

When your server is getting completely beat down on one map, they are always going to consolidate and move to another map where you do have some presence. That’s what we do. They don’t need the points to be “turned off” for that to happen, it happens naturally.

when your server is getting completely beat down its because the other server is out numbering your 99% of the time the other 1% of the time its because both the other servers are focusing on your spawn
if there are 2 active servers in the Borderlands map points will be counted
but if there is only 1 Active server nobody attacking points should be turned off now that orbs no longer exist
why should a server get points from holding a map that they have none to defend against?
“we dont have anything and keep getting camped because they have 50 players and we have 20” there will be a reason for those players to leave that map instead of constantly dieing in a unwinable battle
those players if points are turned off are more likely to leave and join another boaderlands with players from their own server rather then slowly dieing off and quiting WvW for the day
How about the whole idea of Commander is simply removed from the game? Refunds to those who purchased of course. Re-implement squads in some other fashion.
Natural leaders will rise up without the help of an empty icon.

when you join a Commanders Squad all the other Commander icons disapear do you play WvW? players get to make a choice on who they follow
Understand that the “strength” of many servers exists in being able to come online in the wee hours of the night to take back all of the stuff that they lost during the day, effectively balancing the match. Not every community has a plethora of players in the same timezone that you do.
Bottom line, it’s a 24/7 war. You have to learn to deal with that. If you have the outmanned buff on a borderlands, that means that your forces are concentrated elsewhere.. and your enemy has the outmanned buff on THAT map.
its not stoping the battle from 24/7 servers can still come online in the “wee hours” and destory all the upgrades the other sever has spent so much time and money on to balance the match
Bottom Line for you maybe getting points when you have no enemy in a map and own 100% of it is a bad thing its pushing players away from WvW and causing them to spread out across all 4 maps instead of filling 1-2-3
Bottom line for you is maybe you should learn to play instead of just out numbering the other team to win

Daish thinks SoS need to learn when to Sacrafice its their major flaw at the moment
the Dominating Server still has to follow the map Cap they cant just put 300 players into 1 Map they cant just roll in every map 99% of the time the Dominating server is only dominating because they have more players then the other servers
all 3 servers are more likely to be drawn into the same Borderlands map with it (after Eternal Battlegrounds is filled) thats going to make it a hell of alot more enjoyable
its also going to bring the scores for that week closer togeather and encorage more compeition instead of a server going “we are to far behind its pointless lets give up”

and lets say there is a 50 player cap for each WvW map
so the home Borderland for each server has the best starting Location
so lets say 50v50v50 from each server are in Eternal Borderlands nice fun even battle
that leaves 100 red 50 blue 50 green
the 50 Blue will go to their home Borderlands and 50 Red go and fight them
the 50 Green go to their home Borderlands and 50 Red go fight them
Blue and Green will not have to worry about Red’s Borderland map
the last 50 Red would be inside their own home lands but have nobody to vs so the map would be 100% Red
the Green and Blue server would not have to worry about this because the points are not counting
when Blue and Green start getting more players they are more likely to avoid the 10% red boaderland and join in and make 1 of the other 2 Boaderland maps a 1v1v1 because points are counting from that map already
if the 100 players from Green and Blue split across all 4 maps that puts 25 in each map = very frustrating and boring battle
this would focus on the game being more enjoyable and fair when the population numbers are down Commanders would have to use their brain and work out the best maps to rally players into as well
with this System servers that are out numbered could beat servers with more players
at the moment MOST of the winning servers are only winning because they have more players

who is being punished? when prime time comes around and players enter Boaderlands the stronger team is going to start off with almost everything fully upgraded
why do you think its a good idea to give a server points in a Boaderland map they have nobody attacking them at all? thats boring there is no challenge
if 2 out of 3 teams on a Borderland map has the Outmanned Buff. point gain from that map should be turned off.
this is very very simple and would make the game more enjoyable for almost every server
spreading out between 4 maps and switching around all the time is not enjoyable
because Orbs no longer exist this will work now WvW players from smaller servers or when its off peek this will make WvW much more enjoyable playing in Eternal Battlegrounds without having to worry about Borderlands

2: Commander isn’t about the icon, it’s about commanding.
2A: If you’re on another character and can’t stand NOT having the Icon, it’s a bit childish. Oh, my Guardian is a commander, but when I log onto my Ele, people don’t know I have a commander character and they don’t zerg/follow me. First world problems.
2B: If you’re on another character, and are a good commander, people will still listen
and follow even without the icon.2C: If you are as famous or as good of a commander as you think, people will realize this by your tactics or…speech patterns. Or you can just say “Hey, I’m _________” on my Ele.

4: If everyone’s commander icon was account bound, there’d probably be 5 or 6 per server, per map. The people that zerg on commander icons would be split, and army effectiveness would essentially decrease. So kitten no. No No No. I know at least 13 people on my server who are commanders, and I don’t need every single one of them having the icon on characters they’re not even that good with.
4B: Just because someone’s a good WvWer on their guardian and is a commander doesn’t mean you’ll be that great as a Thief one. (Or whatever classes you are)

TL;DR: Think about if every single person that had commander status had it on every character they now and forever will have.
Then think about how having 25 commanders would royally kitten up WvW for a team, especially if “Pugs” and “Loners” do nothing but Zerg commander icons. Like I said, they’d be massively split. 2 months later, 50 commander icons. No. No.
If the compulsive need to lead is so strong within you guys, I suggest A) Staying on your character that has it, B ) playing WvW on a character without a silly icon. (Means either issuing verbal commands or, gasp, actually following them instead), or C) Bite the bullet and fork over 100g if it’s so important.

40 players from Green Queue up
20 players from Red Queue up
100 players from Blue Queue up
Blue should have a cap placed on them of 60 because 40 Green +20 Red = 60 Blue
Blue team is capped at 60 based on the other 2 servers in the 1v1v1
if another player queues up on Red or Green Blue’s cap will be raised by 1 player
this makes the 1v1v1 system much more enjoyable for everyone and players will stop stacking servers
if there are even half the players on the other 2 teams there will be no cap placed at all 50+50 = 100 other then the default cap that has existed the whole time
as the numbers go up and down the cap placed on the team with the most players will adjust

Siofra would like to point out that you do not need to finish off players to get kills/lootbags, just a fair amount of damage.
you dont get loot bags when your dead even if you have done a good ammount of damage to a player and they are finished off without leaving combat

Leader Mara from SoR hands down! I am on SoR, so far I don’t know any other commander that has been so informative and detailed about there battle plans in map chat. Whenever she sets out a task it usually is successful, the only time it fails is when people do not listen. So Leader Mara hands down!
