Im still getting this issue and it has caused me to die multiple times. It happens rarely but when it does it can be at the worst possible time. Im going to keep bumping this until a developer at least acknowledges the problem

Its because teams are only matched based on pip range. The assumption seemed to be that players of similar levels would settle into a pip range but as with most assumptions it has turned out wrong. Almost 2 weeks into the season and I’m still mostly getting lopsided matches.

Its such a strange assumption to make. People were complaining about new players getting an “average mmr” when they start but this is the exact same deal except even more aggressive and worst of all it follows you throughout the divisions

That’s such a shame too. PvP was never my favorite but it was always nice to do a few rounds and have some fun. With a good ranked system it would of been even more entertaining on top of that the extra rewards are always nice.

Now its just frustrating and making me want to quit pvp altogether

So from my understanding is that mmr isnt taken into account anymore. shouldn’t the randomness of the matches still work out to about 50% win rates? why is it that pro players are all stacked on one side versus average players like myself?

P.S. for a game that touts “Esports this and Esports that” its actually really pathetic that mmr isnt even taken into consideration on top of the horrible balance

What is it about the pvp ranked season that is causing matches to be so lob-sided? I have played many competitive games from MOBA’s to shooters to fighters, but this games matchmaking system seems to be the worst I have ever seen.

Why is it so difficult to match similar skilled players together or to make 9 classes balanced when other games are able to balance around 50+ characters and millions of players.

The main problem I have with Guild Wars 2 is that im losing 10-20 matches in a row. Almost every match I lose is a complete upset where my team had no chance of winning from the start. I can accept the occasional stomp where the enemy team won by over double their score but give me a break…10 matches in a row where my team is getting stomped with no win in sight is depressing.

I literally can’t even move up a tier at the moment and honestly I would be ok with that if it was at least a little back and forth winning and losing, but losing 20+ games in the last 2 days and only winning maybe…5? that’s soul crushing and its really not fun at all.

In unranked I actually enjoyed pvp because even if I lost a couple matches in a row I could look forward to the next match because I might be able to win eventually and even get a win streak going to boost my ego a bit.

I could even understand if maybe im not the best player, but then why am i being paired against people who are obviously better than my entire team.

I joined on a semi-filled Dragon’s Stand map and about 5 minutes later (while almost all lanes were full) the map started to close. Rather than getting kicked out at Mordremoth (again) I tried to waypoint to ley-line confluence waypoint in Tangled Depths. It loaded for about 3 minutes without end so I decided to force close the game. When I tried to load back into the game it loads for 30 seconds and then pops up a network error.

I tried to log into different characters as well and no luck cant get back into the game

I keep getting matched versus 4 or 5 man teams when i solo queue or duo queue. Its the most idiotic kitten ever. There needs to be a solo-queue mode (Like every single other “competitive” game; not that Guild Wars 2 is one of those as much as you people try to make it) that has no duo+ queued teams.

This has happened twice for us now. We got to the end of the cliffside fractal and when the boss is supposed to drop the hammer and kill the chanters we did it twice and on the third time the hammer never dropped. we went through about 3 spawns of chanters/novices and the boss stayed invulnerable and the hammer never returned. We had to quit and lost all progress. This was in a 22 fractal

Can't win ranked game

At the time of writing this my win rate in ranked is at 30%

I am not a very good player but I do have an over 56% win rate in unranked. I have over 90% of my games as solo queue. Not amazing but it is above average (assuming 50% is average?)

The problem i keep getting is I am solo queuing but I keep getting queued against the same 5-man team. I am not over-exaggerating when I say that my last 20 games in a row have been vs the EXACT AND I MEAN EXACT same pre-made team. I know they are pre-made because its the exact same people with the exact same guild versus me and I never go into their team. I have tried queuing at all times of the day (mornings and nights) but I keep having to fight this same team

The thing that gets me is I am constantly getting the highest points on my team but I keep losing. If they keep winning (and I am talking 20+ games) but I keep losing why am I still being forced to fight them? shouldn’t they be moving up the ranks while I fall?

I am very frustrated and don’t know what to do. Can someone give me an explanation or tell me whats going on? I cant escape these people

I see so its not just me, good to know. I try to play in borderless but I lose the mouse too often. White mouse blends into the game way too much. I wish there was a high visibility setting for the in-game mouse.

I played with action-cam for a good amount of time and really got used to it. that seems like the best option right now, but its so annoying having to move my camera to track my target all the time.

I guess im not easy to please. Well thank you for the insight

I have had this issue as long as I can remember, but im finally getting sick of it enough to report it here. Hopefully someone else has a solution to this problem and can help me out.

I play guild wars 2 in fullscreen mode. But every once in a while and sometimes multiple times in an hour my mouse will leave my primary screen and go to one of my secondary monitors. When I click (either left or right) it will minimize my game and go to my desktop and then either right click or left click where the mouse was on my desktop.

If I bring the mouse back into the game before clicking it will continue to function normally and will lock back into the game screen until the problem happens again.

NOW ANOTHER issue I have is my mouse will sometimes not leave the client at all and when I click one of the buttons it will minimize the game regardless and click on the desktop.

Normally I would play in borderless fullscreen, but ANET doesn’t have a “lock mouse to window” option (amazing in this day and age; also considering all of their other plethora of features)

Does anyone have this happen to them as well or know of a solution?

Im using a logitech g9x mouse with the logitech software on a windows 8.1 64bit client and an amd r290x video card with the latest drivers

If you’re dead you can’t contribute, thus the importance of healing (and focusing healers like menders) becomes obvious.

Yes I pointed that out in my initial post that if your dead your useless, however healing stats are not the optimal way to go and are missleading newer players. You are better off getting toughness and vitality. My thief and warrior can survive on their own without the help of a “healer” on me 24/7 while maintaining dps. The problem with “healers” is that they upscale events and don’t contribute with killing.

If your going to attempt to refute my point give me an example. Also Healing power has been in a “bad scaling place” for three years now, so whats your point exactly? keep a useless stat that misleads players?

where do they have their place? new content pve gets upscaled HARD with even a few extra people and anything that is hard capped with a small number of people (fractal/dungeons) your a liability. PVP is almost required to have damage because of the way everything is normalized. A bunker build doesnt work if it does no damage because you will get chipped little by little, you need to retaliate eventually. WvW maybe? if your zerging i guess everything dies in 1 hit when its got 50 people hitting it at the same time.

TL;DR Equipment with no offensive properties should not exist in Guild Wars 2.

With HoT Anet added some new equipment stat combos; the one that really stuck out to me was Minstrels. Because it had no damage increasing properties on it. No condition damage, power, precision, or ferocity. Another example is Nomad’s. Now that isnt to say all armour without a Major stat in offense shouldnt exist. I think that heavy armour/vitality with a minor in power/condition damage works great as a bunker/upkeep.

I don’t believe equipment with no offensive capabilities should exist in guild wars 2; They simply do not belong. I think newer players might get the wrong idea of how guild wars 2 “meant” to be played and the lack of a trinity system is something that takes getting used to. These newer players might go for Nomad’s armour in hopes of becoming a support character without understanding that they are actually hurting their team.

I main a warrior (soldiers/zerker hybrid) and thief (valkyrie/zerker/knights). About 2 months ago i created a guardian in hopes of playing him as a support/upkeep build so I got him a set of Nomad’s/Clerics gear and ran a couple of dungeon paths just to see how it handled. I knew the damage wasnt going to be that great, however I didnt realize just how much it would hurt the team. My presence up-scales events and makes them last longer due to my inability to deal damage and can even fail the event because the timer may run out, especially in new content and upcoming raids which are going to be hard-coded to assume you have a full 10-man team.

The Healing stat is just a complete waste of a minor (or god forbid you got a major) prefix. It is much too weak to really do much healing on its own and only serves to increase the duration of a fight. What makes support roles viable in guild wars 2 is their utility skills which have condition cleanse, boon application, boon stripping, etc.

I really enjoy seeing build diversity (even though I personally don’ see much in gw2) because it means people created something unique that they enjoy playing. I think mixing and matching armour stats is probably the best way to go about creating a consistent build that can survive and deal damage. I hate the zerker meta and in the new content I can see who is full zerker because I constantly have to pick them up and we lose a lot of potential dps. The same can be said for players who play in full support roles; they become a non-factor in defeating the boss.

Hopefully if some newer players read this post they will understand that full support/no damage roles do not work as well in guild wars 2 as they do in other mmos. Feel free to build you nomad’s and minstrel set, but makes sure you also bring some dps to the fight.

Im sure I missed some points I wanted to mention, but I did touch on most of what I wanted to say.

Welcome to the club. I took a break for a year due to all the nerfs we had to take. The current state of thief is worst than before. I am very disappointed and frustrated. I paid for HOT thinking thief is going to be great but I feel like I got scammed.

ugh yea thats what im affraid of. I really want to get HoT but im affraid i wont be able to play my favorite class effectively. If i pay for it I think im going to feel ripped off as well

Some preface; I have been playing a thief none-stop since the game came out. I have 1,200+ hours in my thief. I stopped playing the game for over a year and came back recently. I had no idea about the redone trait and skill system and was excited to see the ability to use 3 specializations instead of 2 1/3. I thought I was going to be able to put together whole new builds.

Unfortunately the thief took a big hit and I honestly don’t see myself using half of the new traits. Deadly arts is basically an extension of trickery with half of the traits just buffing our steal ability. It also feels inconsistent. Dagger training is a joke 79 damage over 2 seconds with only a 33% chance to proc; its beyond pathetic. Your not going to stack that much poison in a fight anyway. You will kill or be killed before u even hit an enemy 10 times.

I think my snapping point was when I saw Cloaked in Shadow as a grandmaster trait. Its not even funny. Every single other class has their fall damage reduction trait in one of their adept slots because its a trait that is usefull at very specific times. It should not under any circumstance be considered a “grandmaster” trait.

I have tried to adapt my builds around the new traits and about half the time im thinking “half of these traits are useless but I guess I just have to use the one I hate the least.”

I would honestly prefer being able to use 2 1/3 specializations with the old system than having a full 3 specs with so many useless traits.

The new thief specializations are the exact opposite of specializations, the skill categories are spread out and ugly. You have 11 traits around the steal mechanic spread out among deadly arts and trickery. No trait for shortbows. Our signature weapon the dagger has 1 useless trait that is beyond a joke.

I hope something gets done about thieves because right now not only are they a joke, but I find it anti-fun when I can’t even decide which trait to use because they are all equally bad

Anyway sorry for the rant, but I am honestly a bit frustrated with the current state of my previous favorite class.

As someone who mains a thief, I don’t agree. Looking at numbers alone, thiefs have a horribly low base health, that I understand. You have to remember that base health isn’t the only factor in survival though. Remember active defense such as dodging and stealth is our primary form of survival. Increasing health would only make thieves overpowered.

You recommend removing some evades, but why would I want to be like a warrior? If i want to rely on being a damage sponge, ill just switch to a warrior. On that note, I have successfully built into a bunker thief before, focusing on healing and dodging. All you need to do is switch your gear to vitality and your all set. There’s plenty of gear variability to address the lack of base health.

I have no idea about Eles. From an outsider looking in eles seem to be the weakest solo class and are only useful as supports. So maybe a health increase would help, but I can’t say either way since im not all that familiar with them

The way they handle bosses is just incredibly problematic.
I don’t play a zerker build, I’m a staff elementalist and normally I have a decent amount of crowd control at my disposal – this literally becomes useless against most bosses who cannot be stunned, knocked back, pulled, crippled, etc…

Regarding you suggesting on increasing boss HP and opening up crit hits etc.
NO. They already do this too much, the solution to making things difficult should never be “raise the HP”, but it is unfortunately the solution they most frequently go with. It just results in long boring fights. Use mechanics to add complexity.

You do have a point. I almost forgot about the Shatterer, such a bad update they did with him. Takes 15 minutes to kill him, but people are still just sitting in one spot spamming 1

I agree the fact that objects cant be hit my conditions is really dumb and doesn’t make sense to me at all. I also dislike the fact that there is a maximum amount of stacks that can be applied to bosses. Why not just have diminishing returns instead? My issue is that they are cutting out an entire section of people from doing anything just because they want to play a certain way.

Imagine the people who just started the game that don’t understand these mechanics an are simply burning conditions on bosses, but are just wasting their time doing very little damage and being overridden or taking away stronger stacks.

I feel like there are other options, like what if bosses had a shielding phase where it would purge the conditions it has received instead? I mean anything besides destroying an entire person’s build

It bugs me that certain bosses and levels shut down entire builds in the game. A lot of world bosses are immune to critical damage. What I dont get about that is the fact that so many sigils and traits work off of critical hits, so they become completely useless in these situations. Why not just scale up the bosses HP or add an effect that reduces critical damage by 80% but leaves the actual critical mechanic alone?

Another issue is when I do level 38 fractals and I get the permanent debuff Mistlock Instability: Ill and Chill. This is absolutely annoying when im playing my venom thief. Im unable to use 2 of my venoms now and the devourer venom is completely useless since it doesn’t really come into play very often. Now if im traited into deadly arts traits it isn’t nearly as effective to use half of the traits. So now I either have to respec every time or deal with a half as effective trait tree.

Although it isn’t very common, its extremely annoying when ANet decides to completely destroy entire builds during certain encounters. I thought the idea of this game was to be able to play however you want and be able to use every type of build with every class. Respecing just to do 1 event, boss, or an entire dungeon is inconvenient.

Don’t get me wrong I understand that you can work around it by changing your traits and armor, but I like my builds and I really don’t want to have to switch around so much. Thoughts?

This has been discussed so much that I dont even understand how ANet doesnt bring it up or fix it, but this seriously needs a fix immediately. Its been happening too often and its infuriating. If the creator of a dungeon leaves the party then the entire dungeon run is deleted. On top of which there is no way to tell who created the dungeon in the first place. I don’t know how many times people asked “was it me who created the dungeon?” because they want to switch characters or something. I always suggest not switching if you aren’t sure.

The trait combined training in the deadly arts trait tree doesn’t work with any of the dual wield skills.

Shadow Shot, Pistol Whip, Shadow Strike, and Death Blossom don’t have show in increase in the tooltip at all

I think some of them might work, like Death blossom, but its not a very noticeable increase to me.

However, for Pistol Whip there doesn’t seem to be any increase at all

It doesn’t state that anywhere. Also I am able to use my Basilisk Venom back to back and it will usually activate just fine. It’s just straight up broken and fails to proc some of the time

After the update about a while back, it said that the superior rune of lyssa 6th effect was fixed and that it would work properly with all elites. However, I STILL don’t receive it like 10% of the time.

Im a thief using Basilisk Venom with Residual Venom, Quick Venoms, and Venomous Strength traits.

I have no idea what causes it to not proc, it seems totally random

Thieves and stacking

Staying alive on a stack is extremely difficult for a thief with full zerkers because the only defense you have is going to be the pistol blind aoe. Also if you look at the blind skill you will see that it only ticks 4 times while it is down. So if the enemy is attacking fast, then they will still hit you in between blind procs

If a thief shows his back to the water and uses withdraw INTO (not inside of) the water, it will not go on cooldown and he will be able to use another healing skill when inside of the water.

This is due to the cooldown not activating until the end of the dodge roll. Allowing thieves to use 2 heals in a row.

To recreate, make sure you are on high land so when u roll down that you are sunk into the water. It won’t work if you don’t sink down or if you are on the surface of the water

As of this morning, I started disconnecting from the game every half hour until tonight, where I am now disconnecting every 10-20 minutes. At first I though it was related to WvW since that is what I have been doing mostly, but I just disconnected 3 times in a row while in lions arch, genderan fields, and in the Halloween area. Didn’t have this issue last night when I was running fractals, so Idk whats going on.

Also, no one has been on my internet this morning and I have checked all my programs to make sure there was nothing downloading.

I also had to restart my gw2 because when I loaded into WvW it dropped my fps down to 3 and it wouldn’t improve. I didn’t even restart my computer, I just restarted gw2 and it was fixed.

What is going on with this game?

Regarding Lyssa – Which profession/elite are you using, and is that elite affected by any traits you have selected? (Elite Supplies for Engineer, for example.)

I am a thief using Basilisk Venom with Venomous Strength, Quick Venom, Residual Venom, and sometimes Venomous Aura. Most often it won’t proc if i manually attack a target quickly, dodge, activate another skill, or if my projectile is in flight when the Basilisk Venom hits. There are many times when it still does activate even if I try to make it glitch out.

The rate seems to be a 10% failure to proc regardless of situation

The 6th bonus on the Superior Rune of Lyssa doesn’t always work. If you do another action too quickly it will prevent the bonus from procing.

so for a while now, I have seen multiple posts saying that around the world there are hints dropped about crafting recipes for the mystic forge and the like.

i have put about 300 hours into this game and have yet to see any of these “tips” i get the fact that they are supposed to be hidden or whatever, but the fact that i haven’t noticed anything is kind of surprising.

Add side/back indicator

I want to see a back/side indicator on enemies that shows where an enemies flank side is located clearly. in heavy team situations it can be very difficult to see an enemy underneath all of the particles and effects. sorry to bring another game into this, but dragon age origins did a great job with this and it was very useful. its a very simple solution to a minor problem. as a thief character that prioritizes back/side attacks, this would come in handy.

you can see my screenshot below of my team hitting an asura and i just cant see his back because all of the effects

i get around 30-40 fps in certain areas regardless of my settings, such as lions arch, the grove, WvW, and some fields

windows 7 64bit
radeon HD 6950
amd 955 (4 core 3.2ghz)
8 GB 1333 mhz
