Hi Folks,
I have had GW2 since beta, and am thinking about upgrading to HoT.
I remember when the expansion pricing was first announced, there was something of a firestorm on these forums from those who owned the original game about the lack of an extra character slot in the basic HoT package.
There was an ANET announcement (which I cant find because the search function doesn’t work), about existing players getting an extra slot if they bought HoT. As far as I can see from the GW2 website, HoT will cost 45 euros, but HoT with a slot (and a load of other stuff I dont want) will cost 75 euros.
Is this correct? I want to buy HoT + 1 slot, but am not prepared to pay 30euros for the extra slot.
Do I not get an extra character with the basic package if I already have GW2? If not, I guess it will have to be basic package and a 800 gems character from Black Lion.

Please note that I am not having a dig at you or your guild; but this…
I would like to say thank you to both of the Devs that joined our guild (both named Chris) during the season.
… is why many people believe the Adopt scheme to have been a failure.
Two devs in one guild, yet not a single dev on our entire server.
I appreciate that time zones would have made things awkward, but we would have stayed-up all night to show ANET what it’s really like playing in an underpopulated, low-tier server.

But we were seeing a lot of places where people who would otherwise have become active users were churning out prematurely because of the issues that we’re addressing with the NPE.
If I may ask, where exactly did you see all these people who quit the game because it was too confusing for new players?
I am a regular reader of the Players Helping Players forum, and I have never seen someone complaining that having 5 sword skills on a warrior by level 5 is too confusing.
There have been “I am confused” posts, but these are more aimed at the quirks of GW2 – dodging / combo fields / downed state / etc.
These could have been addressed by having a reasonable tutorial section of gameplay (which could be skipped by those who don’t need it), rather than a wholesale re-working of the early stages of the game.
This may well get me an infraction, but to be honest, anyone who can’t cope with having 5 skills for a weapon (that they don’t even HAVE to use) after 5 minutes of gameplay, probably shouldn’t be playing computer games.
This level of dumbing-down is something I would expect in a game aimed at 6-year-olds.

I have just had nine of these lag → rubberband → disconnect → relogin dead after fighting in WSR / EB
I am getting a bit fed-up with this.
Tracert to 206.127.146.108 is +/- 30ms as far as 206.127.157.86 (PlayNC) After this all hops are timeout.
Not my PC.
Not my router.

Nothing I can do.
Any suggestions from the ANET techies?
… again
Ok, let me explain.
What I am suggesting is that the WxWxW maps (only WxWxW maps) become extensions of PvE maps with new quests, new goals, trade, farms and housing with “real” and “total” open PvP where different guilds can compete (it doesn’t matter the source server) …
NO!
I have played open-world PvP in games for many years – possibly since before some of you were born. (I have two UO murderers with their 16th birthday presents.)
The separation of PvP and PvE is essential for games to thrive.
There is a large percentage of online players who have no wish to get involved with any PvP: I disagree with them, but totally accept their right to play the way they wish. Trying to lure such people into open PvP zones, where, let’s be honest, they would get slaughtered by experienced PvPers, is not going to be good for the game.
WvW is currently far from perfect, but I know that just about anyone I fight there is there to fight me. (I wish that ANET would remove WvW maps from the Map Completion requirement, just so I don’t occasionally run-into, and kill, the PvEer trying to get to a vista.)
Adding PvE quests / goals / housing / etc would do nothing but lure unprepared achievement players into the killzone.
This means that WxWxW maps would allow PK: Player (s) vs. player (s), the real PvP, and no longer a zerg festival.
So, it is a good solution for GW2.
I’m not sure if you understand the historical difference between the terms PvP and PK; but for those who do understand, I am a PvPer, not a PK.
Your suggestion has nothing to do with GvG – it is just a doorway back to the sad old days when the strong preyed on the weak, just because they could.
If my guild wishes to test its’ skills against another guild we already can do – either in the random, open-field environment of a WvW raid, or in a more controlled setting where team numbers and rules are agreed beforehand.
There are several guilds and a lot of “foreveralones”.
It´s only and classic “open PvP” among guilds, parties or factions from any server (megaserver), not among servers. Yes, 1×1 duels too.
Your apparent disregard of the “foreveralones” makes me think you have never met one in the field (or did your zerg stomp them before you got your auto-attack off?)
This is an indiction of how seriously I should take your WvW proposals.
No more zergs…
ANET refuse to give hard numbers for map populations, but it is safe to assume that there are guilds who could produce queues on two maps. So now the “zerg” becomes “the guild zerg” And the difference is?
…but battles everywhere for new objectives, dangerous quests…
The PvE forums can be found by going up a couple of menus in your browser

Ironically, people bought this game because Anet did what they wanted to when they developed it. Somehow, people feel empowered because they play the game, and believe they should be able to dictate what the company that makes the game is doing.
I don’t pretend to speak for anybody other than myself; but this IS NOT why I bought GW2.
I bought the game because I (like many others) fell for the pre-game statements of what this game was going to be.
The only way I would like to dictate the direction of the game is to say “Give us what you told us we were going to get when we paid our money.”
Anet has to consider a lot of factors when they alter the game, not just 1 persons views. They do research, they pay attention to what is already popular in the game, they listen to people, etc.
Incorrect. They offer the pretence of doing research, and when the results don’t tally with their preconcieved plans, the results are ignored and/or shuffled under the carpet.
Also, whether the WvW team wants to do something or not, they have to get approval from people above them, who might not even play the game. And, in the end, it all goes back to NC Soft, who published and funded the game.
This is tanatamount to saying that our input is pointless: The end point is pre-determined by the NCSoft bean-counters; and any suggestions that we, as regular players, may offer is fundamentaly irrelevant if it differs from their plan.
… Oh, by the way way, NCSoft may have made the initial investment; but it is the ignored people like me who are helping them recoup their costs and move into profit.
So, yeah, people can get angry, people can cry, but they should just take a business class, and maybe some game development classes, or read some articles on www.gamasutra.com about how the game industry is ran. It is always easy to be an arm chair developer, but the actual process is anything but easy.
I don’t pretend to be a game developer.
This is a thread in the WvW forum, so if some developers come out and say “Hey guys, we understand what you are asking for in WvW, but it just can’t be done”, and then gave the technical reasons, then I am sure that most of us on this forum would accept that, and move on.
We wouldn’t like it, but at least we would know the reasons.
Enjoy the game for what it is, and what you bought it for.
This is not the game I bought. (See earlier comments)
You didn’t buy GW2 when it came out, to boss around the developers, and to make them bow down to you.
No, I didn’t. I bought GW2 before it came out on the basis of what the development team told me it was going to be. I hate to use words like this, but they lied.
I know it wasn’t the developers who knowingly lied to me – that lie goes well above their pay-grade, but nevertheless, NCSoft took my money on the back of that lie.
As we never see the members of the board of NCSoft on this forum, I am limited to directing my ire at those who perpetrated the lie (either knowingly, or otherthwise.)
No one buys a single player game, or a console / PC shooter, to boss around the company that makes those games.
I hate real-life illustrations on gaming forums, but you force me to make one:
If Renault.com assures me that all Meganes have a 5-speed gearbox, and I buy a Megane, only to find that it has a 4-speed box;, then I am surely in a position to take my complaint up with Renault.
Not with the dealership that sold me the car, but with Renault head office.
Renaults’ defence of “We changed the specifications of the car after you had paid for it, but didn’t bother to tell you as we already had your money” would not stnd-up in court.
Get real people. If you don’t like the game, if it is really causing you this much unhappiness, then play something else. It isn’t a job (unless you are a gold farmer), it is entertainment. If I am watching a crappy movie, I just stop it and try a different movie.
If it was just a crappy movie, then I would accept everything you have said, as whether the movie is crap is nothing but a personal opinion.
However, to use your analogy; I paid to see a SciFi / Horror movie, and I am being presented with a RomCom / Chick-Flick.
I expect to get one of those “you have been a naughty boy” infracions for this post.

Hi Folks,
I am in the process of installing a new SS drive on my PC, and don’t want to re-download GW2.
Can I just copy / paste all the files from my current C:\program files\GW2 folder to my new drive, and re-direct the desktop shortcut to the new location of GW2.exe? (Bearing in mind that my current C drive won’t be the C drive once the new disk is installed)
Thanks in advance.

My favourite GW word censor comes from GW1.
One of the more difficult missions at the beginning of the Factions newbie island was to kill a character called Captain Quimang.
His name was clearly printed above his head, but if you asked other players for help in killing Quimang, the first syllable of his surname would be censored, as it is an archaic (17th century) vulgar term.
(It will be interesting to see if that syllable gets hit with the kitten filter)

NO !
I guess we are in tier 8 1/2 at the moment.
We have rolled through a couple of T9 matchups recently, but we dont have the numbers / coverage to be entirely competitive against Dzag / Arbor / RoF as T8 regulars.
I would rather that we yoyo, whilst building from our own playerbase, than rely on mergers.
Who knows; maybe we won’t attract new WSRers to WvW, so we will keep on yoyoing. If that’s the case, then so be it – at least we don’t have queues.

I’d like to pose a question to someone who, quite reasonably, said:
I do not like WvW but I do understand the requirement to do WvW and I actually agree with it.
Would you be happy with this being the requirement for ALL legendaries; meaning that existing legendaries become unequippable until the owner reaches the WvW level requirement?
… again
I’m unsure why Devon mentions that this new tournament style will make WvW more competitive. WvW will never be truly competitive because disparity in coverage/numbers removes any form of competitiveness. By nature, WvW can never be a competitive game mode……at least not in its current form.
Coverage will win; so I will just turn-up and fight in an attempt not to be last.
The playerbase will say that the results are predetermined, and continue to demand that ANET “fix” population imbalance, while ignoring that we are the only ones who can “fix” the imbalance.
The only action that ANET could take to balance populations would be to arbitrarily move players from stacked Tier 1 servers to T9 servers, and prevent the players from transferring out of T9.
People stack because they want to win. This is quite understandable; I would prefer a chance at getting 10 shinies, rather than the 1 or 2 consolation not-quite-so-shinies that I will end-up with, but I have made a QOL decision to stay where I am.
The prohibitive cost of transfers is frequently raised as a reason that people don’t transfer down: This is nothing but a strawman.
Time to put your cards on the table guys: If it was free to transfer from a stacked / queued Tier 1 to an outnumbered / unqueued T9, how many of you would actually go?
Feel free to name yourself; then we can see if you do move if/when free transfers are implemented.
Of course, very few people would transfer, because we are all “disorganised, no-skill scrubs” (which translates to “we have no idea how good you are, but you won’t get lots of shinies”)

I don’t have any legendaries.
I am not working towards any legendaries.
I can live with the fact that a legendary requires some degree of mastery of all aspects of the game (I don’t like it, but I accept it in terms of these being endgame items)
The removal is to address the manner in which it is communicated in game. There will be a requirement to reach a rank in WvW prior to purchasing the Gift when we are able to provide adequate messaging to let players know why they can’t purchase it and what they need to do in order to be able to purchase it.
Once the rank requirement is reinstated (at whatever level), can you confirm whether existing legendaries will become unequippable until the player reaches the required rank?

Will the “transmute it to a white item” method convert cultural armour to account bound status.
If this is possible, can the item then be given to a character of a different race?
… Basically, I want to give T3 Asuran armour to a human character.

i think it would be a basic function that would improve the game greatly, for instance any waiting time for dungeons, fractuals, etc could be spent dueling friends and it also creates a competitive element that has been known to create interest in mmorpg’s.
If it is the “competitive element” that you are looking for, then I guess that you would be happy with full corpse-looting being implemented in all GW2 PvP scenarios?
If I kill you in a PvP fight, you would be happy for me to loot your gear – (I don’t mean the ridiculous WvW kill rewards of a green item and some gold; I would take EVERYTHING you are currently wearing or holding, leaving you naked and weaponless. I could then either equip your ascended suit and legendary weapon, or sell them, or just salvage it all and drop the ingots on the ground next to your corpse.)
This is competitive MMO gaming.
Anything else is just fighting for the sake of bragging-rights.
Even if you are happy to accept the T&C of the new “Competitive GW2”, the dueling area should be outside the standard PvE areas.
As much as I would like to see dueling, I appreciate that an awful lot of GW2 players don’t want see it in their normal world, so let them be.
If you want to duel me, then it is either for “I want to take your suit”; or “I want to kill you for bragging”; or “I just want to kill you because I don’t like you.”
The scenery has no part in this equation. There is no need to do this in a publid area.
… so we meet in the “dueling arena lobby”, both wearing our favorite suit;, you challenge me; I accept; we fight; (I win and destroy your suit and weapons, or you win and destroy mine)
Nobody is affected except me and you.
…Any dueling has to be in an “I know the risks, and wan t to be here” area.

^This^. Is Anet looking at this sort of metric? How could they? The problem is that they don’t have access to info on the causative event — the player finding out about the requirement.
The “metrics”, as repeatedly expounded by player comments on this forum suggest that PVE players don’t want to have to do WvW for map completion.
At the same time, the WvWer “metrics” say we don’t want to have to repeatedly run dungeons / fractals / champion trains, or spend days PvE mapping or crafting in order to remain competitive.
Both groups have been ignored.
The map-completionists lose-out on their choice of a pretty legendary weapon skin and a title.
The WvWers lose-out on the pretty legendary weapon skin, and a title, and the option to have BIS gear, and a reasonable chance for ascended gear, and a gold-per-hour rate that equates to what they could do elsewhere.
Which group is it that gets most out of the current situation – the PvE mappers.
When posts like this start saying “I don’t want to have to complete the WvW maps to get my title; and I don’t think the WvWers should have to complete the PvE maps”, then you will get my support
MMO players have been exposed to this sort of coercion in multiple games. And we’re sensitive to any other MMO trying to pull the same stunt on us.
I had hoped that GW2 was beyond this sort of problem — e.g. by making PvP optional in Daily’s and Monthlys. But now I see that they’re not. It’s a shame.
There is no problem from the way you see it – you lose-out on a skin and a title, but the WvWers also lose-out on a whole class of weapons and armour, and an awful lot of gold.

Apparently we are all having a great time because of the “intense battles for power.”
We are all “rewarded for our efforts” and “our contributions do matter”
I will probably get infracted for this, but I don’t care!
I dare the person who wrote that press release to play any of the underdog servers for the rest of the league, and then tell us if he thinks those statements are true.
He/she can tell me about the intense battles he/she got when they were outmanned on every map.
Perhaps they could give us some tips on how to fight 5 vs 50.
(I appreciate that it’s not much fun for the outmanning server either.)
They can tell us how much their contributions matter when their well-executed plans are reduced to ruins due to a 15 – 1 disadvantage. Yeah – they got a couple of kills, but the entire party was wiped, and the target lost.
I accept that the current state of WvW is what it is, and that nothing is going to change in the foreseeable future; but PLEASE don’t try to pretend that everything is just wonderful for all those concerned.

I’m pretty sure the thread is about POPULATION IMBALANCE not PPT IMBALANCE. so please.. most people in wvw dont give a rats kitten about PPT, but they do care about being steamrolled 10v70 all the time!
… but population imbalance is our own fault.
We knew “there will be queues, and I might not even get ingame”, but we stacked servers.
We knew “we will never have a chance to win anything”, but we stayed where we were.
We (the playerbase) have proven repeatedly that, despite all our protests on forums, WE are not prepared to do anything about population imbalances.
Balance will come when ANET announces:
“We need 500 people to move from Vizunah to Vabbi; and 450 people to move from Piken to WSR; and so on. You have one month to sort this out among yourselves, otherwise we will arbitrarily move people.”
This is, obviously, never going to happen.

I appreciate that nothing is gained by ranting; so I will keep this polite:
I have a relatively high-end PC.
I have an excellent broadband connection.
EB is suffering from extreme skill-lag and repeated random disconnects.
This doesn’t happen elsewhere in GW2, or in any other game.
I don’t know if the developers actually envisaged the number of people fighting in any given area; but it does seem that the game can’t handle what is happening.
Please try to do something about this; as I am getting fed-up with dying while multiple skills are trying to fire, and then getting the disconnect message whilst surrounded by lootbags.

But, as you have nowhere to go, I accept that you are going to be on the WvW map.

What is World vs World to you exactly?
I will happily answer that.
Siege only?
Not ONLY siege, but siege warfare plays a major role in what WvW was designed to be.
Players fighting other players?
Yes, absolutely, as long as everyone accepts that there will times when they may be fighting 5 to 50 odds, and sometimes they may fighting 50 to 5.
We all also need to accept that hiding in a tower with arrow carts is a valid way for players to fight players.
Running dolyaks, capping camps, and hitting gates to cause diversionary orange swords are also valid ways for players to “fight” an opposing server.
Guild groups running around engaging other guild groups?
If you mean organised guild raids, then yes, absolutely. I loved being in highly-organised guild raids, with vox-comms, target-calling, and designated roles; and taking-on the opposing zerg or other opposing guilds on open warfare.
If you mean GvG as it is currently being implemented by the players, then no.
PPT?
I am on a low-tier server. We will never win on PPT – all we have is server pride and a desire to enjoy ourselves. We fight, we have fun, we lose, we have fun.
I would rather have a couple of freewheeling, open-field fights with no PPT value than sit camping a tower for its’ points value.
I have a question for the GvGers…
Would you guys be happy with a map (either a mirror of a borderland, or a mirror of an sPvP map) with its’ own portal from LA, which is entirely outside of WvW and sPvP.
Map population limits would be adequate to allow multiple guilds (200ish players)
No sPvP restrictions would apply.
No WvW features would exist.
You could fight each other with your own suits/builds, and without any siege weapons or server buffs, and with no chance of a random WvW team interfering.
If this would be suitable, why not petition for this; rather than constantly asking for WvW changes to accommodate your playstyle.
I appreciate that a lot of WvWers want the opportunity to fight in more controlled environments, and I appreciate that the lack of a GvG arena is a missed opportunity on ANETs behalf: But please ask for your own arena, rather than keep asking for WvW changes to modify this gamestyle to match what you want.

Hi Devon,
You posted whilst I was typing – blame my poor keyboard skills,
Yes: An entirel;y WvW version of GW2 would be as vacuuous as an entirely PvE version; and we are free to move our PvE/WvW characters freely between modes. Nevertheless, the PvE side of the game is far more rewarding than the PvP side.
All I am asking for is an equality in rewards for time spent & skill.
I have characters I am levelling – they are not yet fully-equipped. I need new gear for them.
The timer website suggests that our Frozen Maw will be up in 7 minutes…
Starting now, I will take a character to Krennaks, and you take a character to WvW. In 10 minutes time, we compare notes to see who has most gold to equip a new character. We both know who will have most.
Sorry if this looks like a personal attack, that is not my intention: I am just looking for an official response that says that GW2 is a PvE game with PvP as a sideline.

I’d love to say you should be able to get everything ever from just playing WvW, but not only is that not going to happen, it’s not good for the game as a whole. .
PLEASE NOTE: I don’t pretend to speak for anyone other than myself
Whilst I accept that you appear to have a genuine love of WvW, do you not think that that quotation shows how far we have moved from the original “play as you want to play” mindset that was so widely publicised at the games release.
If WvW / sPvP are supposed to be an integral part of GW2, then either:
1) All game rewards should be available in those modes, just as realistically as they are in PvE.
or:
2) All game rewards should require an equal amount of proficiency in (a form of) PvP as in PvE.
I currently balance my time between both modes: PvE for money / items:; WvW for fun.
Until I have exactly as much chance of getting an ascended item in 2 hours WvW as I have in 2 hours running fractals, or until I get as much gold in 2 hours of WvW as I would in running CoF for 2 hours, then the PvP/PvE “balance” is patently unreal.
I am nowhere near “elite” level PvP, but I do have thousands of kills under my belt. I have had 2 level-80 rares drop from all those kills.
I could have harvested 2 equivalent rares from spending a few minutes killing the Fire Elemental.
As I said above, I don’t speak for other PvPers, but I find that levelling a character and equipping a character is far, far easier in PvE. This, in itself, is not a problem, but if GW2 is intended to be a PvE-orientated game with a bit of PvP tacked-on as an afterthought, then I would appreciate an ANET post stating this.
At leatst then I will know that you guys are playing the same game as I am

Blocker – random – Whiteside Ridge[/quote]
Please don’t think I am having a dig at you Liquidity – I am not. However, you do raise an important point concerning WSR WvW:
We are not a WvW-orientated server. We don’t have large numbers of dedicated guilds / players, and so we don’t have large numbers of experienced commanders. This leads to a degree of disorganisation if the main guilds are are running without commander tags, or are doing something else.
Maybe it is time for someone outside the main WvW guilds to step-up and get a commander tag.
You seem proud to have “random” in your signature; so get all the other experienced WvW “randoms” to recommend a dedicated WvW “random” as a commander you would follow. Tell us who you would follow, and I am sure that the community will chip-in for his tag if he is worth following.
This would give people another tag to follow, and would maybe allow TEO / WBC / etc. to have an occasional guild event without getting slagged-off for not running with tags.
Please Note: This is NOT the opinion of my guild, or of any other WSR player – it is just a suggestion from someone who is trying to make WSR WvW a bit more competetive.

Yeah, I don’t understand the crying about other people having the option to duel, either.
Exactly, with the option to block duel requests in the options it doesn’t affect them AT ALL. Yet here they are QQing about people who love to duel, and saying we should have to go through WAY more trouble than we should have to just to be able to do it.
As long as duel requests can only be made via “whisper”, and there is an auto-block option, I will be fine with adding duelling.
I don’t want mapchat being spammed with duelling requests (which will probably be followed “Are you all afraid to duel me!” spam.)
… of course, all professions would need to be rebalanced so that everybody is equal in 1 vs. 1, which will probably break the game balance even further.

We’re not gonna kick you for being a Longbow ranger or a Scepter guardian. We are however going to be watching how you utilize those skillsets and note if you’re doing it properly. If you aren’t, then we’re not gonna want to have anything to do with you after the run.
Just out of curiosity…
You say you won’t kick a sceptre guardian just for being a sceptre guardian, but would you:
1) Say between fights “can you swap to weaponset x/x, and try to do more x”
2) Wait until the end of the run, then say “hey, that would have been better if the guardian had done x; shall we go again?”
3) Say nothing; laugh at the pathetic guardian in guild chat; then add the player to your blocked list.
I ask because I enjoy playing a guardian, (and I’d like to think that I am not completely awful at playing the class.) I carry all weapons; but I have not memorised all dungeon routes, and I occasionally end-up with the wrong weaponset for the situation.

My background:
I started in text-only MUDs.
I played UO for 13 years, and Anarchy for 9 years. (Not currently playing / paying either)
I played GW for 6 years.
I played AoC for 6 months, and WoW for a 1 month free trial.
Do I love / hate GW2:
Neither !
At the moment, GW2 (when taken as a whole), is neither lovable or hateable. Some aspects of GW2 are great, some are a huge disappointment, and some are downright awful.
The Good:
The non-instanced, persistent world, which I missed so much when I moved from UO/AO to GW.
Easy levelling.
The DE questing system (when it works): An NPC asks me to protect them while they wander about a bit. If I succeed, and don’t run off as soon as the NPC is safe, the NPC then offers the next logical step in the quest chain. This is so much better than the standard quest hub model.
WvWvW has the potential to be more fun than UO Faction fighting.
The Sad:
Crafting is essentially pointless. My UO crafter was known server-wide: I was able to label my creations with a “Crafted By…” tag, and that meant something. As crafted weapons / armour were always worth more than the raw materials, I earned a reputation (and bought my first Keep with the profits) It disappoints me that EVERY tailor in GW2 makes exactly the same things: I have no opportunity to craft something unique.
There is no looting in PvP. I know that no modern gamers would accept the conditions under which I used to fight, but nevertheless… If I kill you in WvWvW, I want the ability to loot your corpse – which means that I can take your “acsended, exotic suit of leetness”; then either wear it, sell it back to you, or if you have annoyed me; I will salvage it, and drop the materials on the floor.
The Ugly:
The horrible mishmash of horizontal/vertical, grind/no grind that has appeared with the recent patches. I will admit that I fell for the ANET manifesto in all its “you don’t need to grind” glory. I was expecting a system similar to GW, where my max-armour, bought from a NPC suit, had the same stats as my “needs months of farming” Obsidian armour.
This was the case for the first 3 months of GW2 – then came the addition of ascended armour. If ascended only provided defence against a specific damage, found in a specific location; I doubt that anybody would be complaining – but it doesn’t. I will happily grind (or pay cash), for unusual armour skins; but the current philosophy of “you need to do (this thing), (multiple) times in order to get max-stat armour” is a direct contradiction of the original GW2 manifesto.
No amount of weasel-words by ANET can contradict this.
TL:DR
I am not quitting, as the good and bad currently cancel each other out.
What happens in the future remains to be seen.

@ The OP…
It’s not that people are afraid of PKs / PVP: They just don’t want to be forced into PVP areas to complete PVE titles.
I am not afraid of PVP.
I have PVPd in every game I play.
I learned to fight in a world where if I killed you, I could loot you of ALL your armour and weapons, and leave you naked and unarmed. (I would love to see this implemented in WvWvW; but I know it’s never going to happen, so it’s not something I complain about.)
What I, (and many others), object to is that PVErs are forced into PVP maps in order to claim a PVE title like “map completion”
If I am PVEing, I will search-out waypoints, vistas, etc, for the sake of “completion.”
If I am PVPing in W3, I will PK / attack keeps / etc. I don’t want to have to think “Oooh! I need to stop fighting, and try to get that vista.”
The “not separating PVE maps from PVP maps” is a mistake which ANET have carried-over from GW1 – I hated having to run around PVP maps on a PVE character, just to get the cartographer title.
TL:DR – We are not afraid of PVP; we just don’t want our PVE characters to be forced onto PVP maps.

I am finding that my HoM minipets keep disappearing : Not only does the pet vanish, but the mini also disappears from my inventory, meaning that I need to revisit the HoM to collect the pet again.
Not game-breaking, but very annoying.
This happens across all characters, and with the chicken, the cat and the racoon.
Have I missed something that says that these minis are on a timer, after which they need to be re-collected?

For those reporting bots, how do you know they are bots and not multiboxers?
I’m a multiboxer – which means…
I play many accounts at the same time. I’m currently playing eight characters at about level 40 each on the Eredon Terrace world and once they reach level 48, I will join with the other four characters to play a total of 12 accounts at the same time.
A multiboxer that plays many accounts and doesn’t have automation is allowed and is within the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement. I am aware there are other multiboxers on other worlds.
The reason I’m mentioning this is because if you are aware that a player is behind the keyboard playing several accounts and you report that player for botting, you are knowingly false reporting. Falsely reporting a player for botting is against the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement.
Firstly, I am not accusing you of doing anything untoward.
I am however, interested to know how you are playing eight characters without any 3rd-party automation.
There is no “follow” function in GW2, so how do you get your characters to where they need to be?
Once there, how do you actually DO anything with 8 characters at the same time?

Hello everyone,
please refrain from posting names of players which you accuse of being bots and report those players instead.
Greetings
With respect, Meinke, when then botters openly display bot-names, what damage is done by us posting those names here.
Whiteside Ridge / Bar Curtis Ranch…
Soldier Brother, Speed Brother, Wang Brother, War Brother, Terrorist Brother and Violent Brother.
All rangers in starter armour with bears.
All running an obviously scripted circle that takes-in the ranch and the nearby harpies.
All repeatedly reported.
(their script is a little better than the one being used by Dfdfr and Fdsffcjhhghg, as both of these newbie rangers have damaged armour)
If you expect us not to name-and-shame (even though the bots don’t care about shame), then please show us that you are doing something.

I always show bad attiude when they can’t respect common knowledge to speak English in a public chat.
I mean they can’t be that stupid to realise that other people doesn’t understand what they say.
I find it delightfully ironic that, although English is not my first language, I could tear your post to pieces due to your appalling English usage.
I have no problem with non-English players using their native tongues.
I have no problem with “English as a second or third language” players making gramattical errors when typing English.
I do have a problem with players criticising the above in poorly-formatted English.

@ Gaile
Hiya.
The situation for static IP addresses is certainly a bit flaky at the moment:
posted a couple of days ago
Dear ANET Tech Folks,
Can you please have a look at your login script programs.
I have a static WAN address issued by my ISP. I live in Swansea.
When I first registered on this forum and GW2 I had to authorise my IP address… You thought I was in Bridgend, but I could live with that as it’s only a few miles down the road.
About a week ago, I had to re-authorise my login as I was apparently logging-in from Dundee (which is in a different country). After a quick panic, I checked the IP address, which was my correct address.
Today, I have had to re-authorise again, as you think I have moved to Stowmarket in England, (yet kept the same WAN address.)
I realise that this isn’t a gamebreaking issue, but it is incredibly annoying, so if you could spare someone for a few minutes to have a peek at the code…
This is still happening.
Cheers,
Darfod

I use a Nostromo for my left hand, even though I have a G510 keyboard. The keyboard only gets used for chat.
1 – 10 = mapped to skills
11 – 14 = mapped to function key skills
thumbpad = mapped to movement
thumb button = mapped to temporary keymap, which resets buttons 1 – 10 to the backpack / TP / guild / etc. buttons
MW fwd = weapon swap
MW back = F
The button layout feels far more natural than the rows of macro keys on a G510.
The mouse does camera angle / nearest target / next target / call target / jump / dodge.
My setup isn’t perfect, but I find it incredibly easy to use.

Firstly – I know nothing about Macs…
My neice is currently running GW2 on a windows partition thing on her Mac.
Can she just download the Mac client, delete the windows version, then run the game normally?
Thanks in advance
