Nevermore IV: Ancient Svanir Relic.

DarkChaos.4326

Initially upon completing the snowblind fractal I saw the Svanir Relic pop up in my collection and then simply deleted it not noticing that it was required for another part of the same collection (at the Jora statue).

I have done the snowblind fractal several times now and it is currently the only thing preventing progress… yet it no longer drops. I had one or two other fractal items like this both of which dropped the first time when I realized I needed to re-obtain them (After deleting them and re-doing the fractal).

I have attempted to speak to the statue regardless and it does not work nor is it recoverable at Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs in any of his tabs nor from “I have misplaced a vital component for crafting my Legendary.”

At this point I feel I have no other options but to try and contact Anet. :/

P.S. Please put a description on these arbitrary collection items so players can tell what it is for or at least not to dispose of them.

*Not in my bank or on another character either.

Screenshot shows my inventory and collection as well as the tab from hobbs.

EDIT: Bottom 2 rows of inventory not showing. Doesn’t have it either. (2nd Screen)

Seeing the next set of legendaries uses different gifts many players (myself included) have crafted the previous gifts in anticipation. Is there no way we will be able to disassemble these items into the base components? (i.e. a vendor that sells a box containing each component – currency is the gift)

Or are we just supposed to make a legendary then sell them so we can get what we want? (Rebuilding from scratch)

Celestial form: (3) Often times attempting to cast this right as the form ends results in me using my (3) skill for the equipped weapon. Throwing myself at enemies with staff.

(1) The delay and small AoE combined makes it too difficult to land on moving targets. Either make it faster (compensating with after-cast) or increase its AoE slightly.

Glyphs: Generally glyph AoE feels too small, I basically have to stand on top of what I want to hit with it.

Staff: (3) Should end sooner when used in short range. As it is if you want it for a blast finisher or burst heal without the mobility it takes the same amount of time as using it at max distance.

(5) Feels weird having a flat healing amount. As rapid shots heal a lot but one large attack has minimal effect (outside of negating the damage itself).

Added note: It would be nice if the avatar had ‘some’ offensive potential such as the seeds having added poison damage.

I am rather interested. Ranger player (Non-meta is still useful…) and will surely be looking for a group to raid with in HoT + Fractals (Currently geared for and am at level 50 fractals).

I am seeking to play revenant once that launches and Druid if the healing/support aspect becomes a vital role. (Age 21)

Due to school I won’t be on every day but I do try to remain fairly active.

Thanks in advanced! (:

P.S. All classes are 80 if I decide I need to switch things up.

EDIT: I do fall under the same time zone so I will likely be on around the hours listed.

Ranger player since launch (Have all classes @ 80) and plan to alt revenant upon the release of HoT (enjoying the play style).

I plan to play each day although due to school I will be most active on weekends.

I am comfortable repping 100% (if required).

For fractals I do have full ascended gear (Medium) with AR in every piece and have hit the lvl 50 cap in preparation.

Elitism harming the game? (PvE)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DarkChaos.4326

It seems all the time when I go to the LFG tool I see the descriptions reading “No Necros/Rangers” or “Meta only” almost all the time excluding dungeons like AC which everybody seems to know.

As a ranger player since launch this is really discouraging. They were god awful upon launch and even with the huge buffs with the recent trait patch (and through many previous patches) people are stuck with the idea that we are practically useless.

I know the class doesn’t offer much in group utility but is that really enough to justify the hate? I consistently complete level 50 fractals and dungeon speed runs what is with the unwarranted hate?

I’ve had people join in while I already had 2-3 people just to say “NO RANGERS” then leave.

It is really frustrating and I refuse to play a class I don’t really enjoy. I really enjoy the reaper as well as the revenant but those are obviously not available currently. Here’s hoping druid offers something significant.

P.S.: Furthermore it just divides the community just for the sake of some stack n’ smack meta.

-I regret making my main a human. Especially after getting kudzu/Nightmare armour skins (Ranger).

-I often assume any warrior in the group is terrible after seeing excessive amounts of hundred blades —> never dodge roll --> first to die in group warriors.

-I hate thieves to the point where I will abandon trying to capture anything (and lose credit) if it means killing one. In PvE I will not help thieves unless for the sake of completing a dungeon/fractal.

-When ranger buffs hit I will immediately go roam WvW with “sic ’em” on my bar hunting thieves.

-When roaming in WvW I don’t attack up-scaled level players if I don’t have to.

-I don’t like elitists but I also try to min-max.

-I can’t stand rangers without names for their pets.

-I assume every player is male until proven otherwise.

-I’ve been holding off progress towards my next legendary because I’m expecting them to add another set of weapons or legendary armour.

Chinese back skins

These backs skins look like they are intended to be rewards for leveling crafting skills.

From top to bottom: Armorsmith, Artificing, Chef, Huntsmasn, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, Tailoring, Weaponsmith

Don’t see why these couldn’t be in the NA version if they are in the chinese version. Probably coming next time we get a fairly large update. (Not just extra living world content/map updates)

I don’t care too much for the back-pieces themselves but I DO like the idea of something that alters based on progress you’ve made. Something that can either show off something or simply add more options to represent your character (especially for RPers)

Just thought I would point it out as a ranger player, every time I use Signet of the Wild (with the Signet of the Beastmaster trait) it removes the potion’s buff. (which can be a bit annoying…)

I believe this is resulting in the game treating the “Enlargement” buff as a transformation effect seeing as other transformations like the quaggan tonics can’t be used in conjunction with the potion.

-As a side note why is the potion not usable in dungeons?

Find new skills for your weapons!

DarkChaos.4326

A new approach to an idea I had earlier:

In short:
Weapon Trainers – in cities, train you to use new skills for weapons your class can use.
Weapon Masters – Hidden throughout Tyria, teach a specific skill for a specific weapon at level 80. These skills give a character a feel of power
These skills are swappable with the default weapon skills, same as utility skills.

A bit more:
Lets use a greatsword for example. It has 5 skills to it. At different levels you can learn from weapon skill trainers a few new skills that you can swap out with the starting default skills. Even better though, hidden though-out Tyria are Weapon specialist – old combat legends – that will teach you an even more advanced skill for a weapon (only at level 80). These skills are more flashy than the default ones and give a player a feeling of progression to combat as they level up and the feeling that a character is becoming more skilled with their weapons and powerful.

Make some noise if you’d like to see this implemented!

This is what they needed to do with Elite skills like in GW1, you kill a boss creature of your class and capture an essence of its power.
Pretty lame how you just straight up buy them with skill points as it is now.

Surprisingly well thought out, the class mechanic seems very solid although skills such as “parallel universe” likely need to be redesigned such that it isn’t made to be a mandatory skill in things such as WvW.

Also the variety in the use of the main mechanic has a large opening for high skill cap combos. I will say though that as much as I want this class to exist, it does not fit the “heavy” category, which makes it unlikely due to the imbalance of the professions.

Seems like it is somewhere between guardian/mesmer, but taking the best of both worlds for gameplay. (IMO)

Its also great when the pet has a 2-5 second delay for INSTANT CAST abilities. (such as spider poison application)
But seriously, like someone else suggested, make it so if the Ranger doesn’t get hit by the AoE, the pet doesn’t either (For PvE/WvW only)

That happens if your pet gets interrupted or stunned. Pay more attention to your pet! If you struggle getting utilites off in a zerg, why aren’t you using stability training and a board/pig? Even a bear in some builds?

It failed to use its INSTANT CAST in the 1v1 QJ Gaunlet, I’m pretty sure I’m not blind.
The AI puts the ability in a queue where my spider will:
Immobilize —> use poison AoE --> Finally apply the instant cast skill —> basic attack.
You just made WAYYYY too many assumptions in such a short time. Not to mention I’m not a BM spec to begin with since pets are nearly useless in PvE.

EDIT: btw, INSTANT CASTS are usable while CC’d. (Mist form, Thief venoms, Signet of Stone.. etc.)

The issue with the boss fight is in the second phase more than half the floor gets bombarded with no indication beforehand of where it won’t strike. That on top of the cripple that is constantly applied by the boss preventing you from getting there in the 1 second you have.
Limiting you to kill her before you run out of dodge rolls, while even with zerker gear and quickness isn’t possible forcing you to rely on at least 2 instances of luck with the AoE.

The first phase however is laughable once you understand what the mechanics are.
Real shame the “difficulty” spike is phenomenally above even a multi-gambit run of the other third tier bosses.

Theres no luck in the AOE, its always in the same spot. The AOE follows a strict pattern, no luck involved at all.

Then why in the 2nd phase does the small safe zone go across the other side of the room? Or sometimes just straight up goes from clockwise to counterclockwise?

One thing great about the stealth mechanic is how it disables your auto-attack, since otherwise you would immediately unveil yourself prematurely.

One issue that I have been having, occasionally on my thief, after using an ability that applies stealth, (Blinding Powder) it would not stop an auto-attack once it has started, resulting in an immediate removal of stealth and disallowing myself to use a stealth opener.

As a thief, I only ever encounter this issue with the pistol or shortbow, but with flash powder I have to time its usage somewhere in between when the bullet hits and before the cast-time attack bar is about half-way. This gets rather annoying to the point where I often click completely off my target in order to use my ability without worry of interruption.

The issue isn’t apparent when using something such as Hide in Shadows due to the cast time which inherently halts what you are doing in order to perform another action. This time is also more than enough for any airborne projectile to hit their target.
Perhaps make it so you can only be un-stealthed by actions that occur WHILE invisible. This may come off as a nit-pick, but anything to help polish the game a bit certainly helps.

P.S. Using the Ranger’s Barrage before Hunter’s Shot means you’re gonna have a bad time.

Not a fan of having the same grindy mats/things as regular legendaries or if a Phoenix is the way to go with the first armour set.

I heavily support legendary armour sets.

My main concern is for people who don’t want the full set (to mix and match pieces to their liking).
And how many pieces or what pieces would you need for the animations to work?
Would people feel like they are forced to use pieces they don’t like just because they like the animations?

These are all issues that would have to be looked after for something that comes in pieces rather than a single unit.
For weapons it is simply: Can I use it? —> Do I enjoy using that weapon type? --> Do I like what it looks like? —> Is it worth the time and effort to obtain? (Compared to an alternative). *Some people may rank appearance over how fun the weapon is to use.

It would likely be better if it was made in pieces. (Maybe making crafting finally useful?!) for those who don’t want the aesthetic of a full set, while also giving a sense of progression after making an individual piece.

Well if you want the full animation set makes sense that you need the whole set of armor, but from my standpoint if you’re taking the time to get it, you probably aren’t going to want to mix it with anything.

Probably why I thought of pieces being crafted individually.

Simply put, it takes too long to get multiple sets of gear, having to earn exotic armour/weapons, ascended rings, necklaces (which require 30 laurels), accessories (limited by either laurels or weekly tokens), and the back-piece.
All of this being just for a different set of stat combinations.

There are only so many builds you can make with a berserker set. Switching skills out and utilities is so seamless, yet getting the gear to support these things feels like a long chore.

I can understand traits not being available on the fly since that can potentially break certain parts of PvE.
But with the time it takes and the costs of runes it makes you feel overly invested in to one build (or VERY small alterations) based on the stats you originally sought after.

On a side note when you have multiple sets of gear, you can’t keep the appearances of a different set. So for anyone who bought cultural armour and wants to keep the look with both sets, they would have to purchase a full other set (Not exactly affordable..).
(Post that helps with this point)

Now I don’t have all the answers, but this is a small list of concerns and was wondering what other people’s thoughts are on the subject.

One problem with ‘shapeshifting’ is that if it is not temporary in some way it makes the armour/gear you earn not clearly visible which is one aspect of the game that is enjoyable, and making each armour set somehow fit however many different forms is a lot of unnecessary work.

That being said, I have always loved shapeshifting and if it were to be implemented it would likely be a future ranger elite. (form depends on the pet currently in use, which would be freaking amazing).

@Auesis I really like your take on thieves, especially with the consuming stealth.

As for warriors, I think the ‘mini-stomp’ could interfere a bit with legendaries’ footprints, and the quickness effect being constant would likely make actual quickness buffs not seem or feel as significant visually to other professions.
Burst skill effects is definitely something awesome but I’m not sure what other effect could be added without seeming out of place or interfering of something else.

What is most surprising in GW2 is that you have a deep feeling that things CAN be done, the engine seems to be very flexible for creation; and yeah, I loved the wings for elementalists!
I posted another suggestion regarding staffs for elementalists, class-specific makes you feel unique in dedicating time for your class. I love it.

Yeah, I kind of feel sorry for dedicated engy players who obtain legendaries, seeing as most engineer builds use some kind of tool kit and when in use hides their proud legendary, this of course could help distinguish Engineers a bit more.

I love my elementalist as well and the wings just give that sort of feeling as though your character is truly a master of the elements, and would show off some amazing effects to prove so.

Class specific "Legendaries"

in Suggestions

Posted by: DarkChaos.4326

DarkChaos.4326

before I begin, yes I do in fact understand balancing classes is more of a priority, this is a discussion/suggestion thread so please be respectful of the thoughts and opinions of others.

(Some thoughts behind the idea)
There are a lot of cool armour and weapon skins in the game, but one thing I find a bit lacking is profession distinction. Not by game-play, but by appearance it often can be difficult to distinguish certain classes just by looking at them. I find myself often clicking on players just to say to myself, “oh, that’s a thief” and I really feel it takes a bit away from the game’s atmosphere and personal connection to one’s favourite class.

(Aquisition)
These items or bonuses should NOT be obtained in the same way as the current legendaries, considering how much of a painful grind that it is. I propose as an alternative to have specific ‘personal story’-esque missions which are unique to the profession, much more challenging (The kind to make Mad-King’s Clocktower look like child’s play), and only available after hitting level 80.

(Example mission)
These missions should take advantage of class mechanics for a more enjoyable experience. A mesmer mission for example, could require you to obtain an item by leaping across platforms Indiana Jones style while things fire at you that cause chilling effects, but once the object is obtained the place you must bring this object to is then closed off until you return the object requiring clever use of skills such as feedback (block projectiles), Null field (remove chill), and portal (warp past the blockade) all while being limited to the time on your portal ability in a single attempt.

(Reward’s Mechanics)
The item probably shouldn’t be an ‘item’ for a number of reasons. First off it shouldn’t replace current looks that people enjoy, only add to it, so you don’t have to pick between it and your awesome 500 ecto fractal backpack, you get the best of both worlds. Secondly, so you can not lose it, not even accidentally, I’ve heard enough horror stories of someone scrounging through their inventory only to unintentionally sell something without really noticing it, I myself lost the GW2 hat when I left it on a character I deleted.
Instead it should unlock a panel (or checkbox) on your hero’s tab that allows you to turn it on/off at will once you have completed all of your class missions.

(Example rewards)
Elementalist: ‘Wings’ that animate and change in style depending on your attunement which also fold in when weapons are sheathed. (Fire elemental wings for fire, etc.)
Engineer: All ‘kit’ skills when equipped have special attack sounds/effects, also toolbelt skills will be displayed on your belt. (hidden in WvW)
Mesmer: Faint image of your character trailing behind you while moving, while standing still has a slight ‘heat-wave’ effect.
Ranger: Legendary pets, need I say more?

While I am aware not all of these things are entirely realistic, may not even come out for at least a year if they did make it, but it would be awesome to add a little ‘flare’ to our classes based on our skill and dedication with said class rather than a massive money/time sink similar to regular legendaries.

Thoughts? Opinions? Feel free to discuss what you guys/gals think!
