The Dusk hunt requires that you kill the Harathi Overlord in Kessex Hills and loot the end chest from the Modniir Ulgoth meta event. However, when you do the Ulgoth event it drops the item for Overlord and doesn’t give you the item for Ulgoth. There are also reports from players that did Overlord first, got the proper drop, but got nothing from Ulgoth.

Can we please get this addressed?? Some sort okittennowledgement at least? It has been over a week now and I haven’t seen anything about this from the devs.

I had enough points to train my Ranger about half way with the Druid specialization, and I got the Druid staff. My problem though is that I cannot seem to access or actually use the Druid skills! I cannot seem to assign any Druid skills to the lower bar and the Druid staff says that it is unusable for me.

did you equip the druid trait spec in your trait tab?

While doing the Twilight/Dusk precursor hunt for tier 1, I completed the Vizier’s tower jumping puzzle but the chest was showing up as already opened so I couldn’t loot from it to make progress.

Modniir Ulgoth’s chest also doesn’t drop the reward for me to progress the collection. Is it randomized loot or guaranteed when you loot the chest?

ugh, yeah it is a real unfortunate situation.. When I was looking up servers to transfer to earlier, it looks like this has been a problem for well over year now for many players. I would hope that they’d look into some kind of a solution but who knows if and when that’d happen.

I’m looking for an oceanic server I can actually get into for WvW. Mixed NA and Oceanic would be preferred as I’m an American and potentially will have periods where I’m not in Australia. I know a lot of people suggest the super high pop servers but they’re always full every time I check and there’s no way in.

I think the main problem is we don’t have bursts and efficient burst aiding utilities at the moment. So even if we want to run zerker, it isn’t balanced when you look at how it functions on other classes. Warrior for example is much stronger even if you have the same gear set up. We need a new weapon set or a revamped set with good burst at the very least if necros want to be viable as a zerk dps class. :/

Necromancer is my main and the class I enjoy the most so it really saddens me that no matter what I do I cannot be as good as other classes in a dungeon or fractal.

I just crafted this about 4 days ago and I had no idea that they removed this effect. I still like the skin but the effects are really underwhelming. Especially on a necro where your skills drown out the majority of the effects. It doesn’t feel as up to par as the other legendary skins without its old night cycle quirk…

I’ve noticed that “The Tengu Wall” played in Rata Sum and other areas around Maguuma as well. It’s so nice to hear that track in game! It’s lovely.
I’ve also heard a guild wars 1 track that either I hadn’t noticed before or was newly implemented has been playing in the Ascalon areas. I can’t place a name on which track it is exactly, but it definitely has a bit of a creepy vibe to it.

I’d also say that elementalists are also pretty vital in speedrunning dungeons because they can up party dps majorly with scepter/dagger might stacking. Zerk eles also have fantastic dps in general. also, FGS and ice bow ftw

The only NPCs we care about is Taimi and Caithe. Why? They’re interesting, and they don’t take over the story. The rest have to be scrapped because they’re all doing the job of the PC. Rytlock’s and Rox’s struggles can easily become the struggles of the Charr PCs. Braham’s struggle to be a legendary norn is the storylines of the Norn PCs.

I disagree. The only NPC I cared about during the living story was Marjory for the longest time, and then Kasmeer when she started to get more back story. Caithe is alright, along with the other members of destiny’s edge, but I’m not invested in her at all.
Side note: Don’t speak for all the players about opinions like this because they’re not universal opinions.

It’s a valid point to look at other games like DCUO, LOTRO, and even NCSoft’s former CoX that have a free wardrobe system (free in the sense that you don’t spend real money for a costume change). DCUO and LOTRO compete in the same market as GW2, and GW2’s system can be viewed as poor/negative in the eyes of players coming from those games. DCUO is constantly brought up when I see a discussion on the gw2 forums about wardrobes. It’s not a bad idea to look into this system, just pointing that out anet. :p

The thing that irritates me the most about the conversion is that there’s no point in transmuting anything on a character below level 80. The 3 to 1 conversion rate of transmutation stones to charges and 1 to 1 conversion rate of transmutation crystals leads players to believe that charges will cost the same amount of money as crystals do now. That’s.. not making anything easier on new players, which is something arenanet keeps bringing up when discussing feature pack changes. I was hoping (along with many other players I know) that charges would be cheaper considering that they’re being used for characters of all levels. Players that stuck to one look for months and months at a time will not change their looks up after this change unless the price or how frequently charges are earned in game changes because of that.

Look it is this thread again. Zerker doesn’t need a fix – you take defensive stats assuming that you take damage, and if you trust your skills enough to be able to survive without any defense you are free to do so and enjoy the benefits. It is working exactly as intended.
What is needed however is to make conditions a viable alternative in PvE but I’m sceptical about the possibilities to implement that considering conditions are way OP in PvP. I don’t think it can be done without completely splitting PvP and PvE balancing but as it seems atm Anet isn’t willing to do that.

Anet has split PvP and PvE balancing. The last zerker change did not affect PvP.

Proposal Overview
*Addition of more fractal stories
*Have different fractal “categories” that allow parties to have more control over what types of fractals they choose

Goal of Proposal
This would allow RNG to be a less deciding factor to how you want to run fractals. It would be similar in the way that explorable paths of dungeons work. It should be noted that this requires the addition of several new fractals before it could be properly implemented and must also focus heavily on proper balancing of the different fractals that currently exist.

Proposal Functionality
The first point I would like to address is that fractal players would still like there to be more fractal stories available to them. At the point of the last fractals addition, the need for a new fractals instance was long overdue. It should become a regular practice to add 3-4 new fractal stories per year. This addition does not have to be all at once. Judging by how starved some of the community was at the point of the last release, it should be spread out so it gives fractal runners something to look forward to every few months rather than once a year.
Having fractal categories as an option for players over the random roll would have them feel more like dungeon paths. Fractal categories would give players the option to have some control over what they want their dungeon experience to be rather than praying it isn’t this or that instance over something they really enjoy. What specific fractals they get will be RNG within that category, however. The break down of fractal categories could be something like historical fractals (fractals based off of events that occurred in Tyria outside of the context of what we have witnessed in-game in guild wars 2), classic fractals (the first generation of fractals that are not based off of historical occurrences or fractals that have no discernible context within the games story), and living story fractals (fractals based off of living story events). Before fractals could get to this point, each category (which can really be categorized however needed) should be roughly evenly distributed.
The option for a purely random roll should also be available for those who would like a varied run.

Associated Risks
If the fractals are not properly balance and all offer interesting mechanics/story and unique reasons to play through them, the player base can flock to one category. This will require a lot of carefully calculated balancing.
Specific categories could become quite larger than others, such as the living story fractal category, if the categories aren’t all evolved to the same level of options simultaneously.

My main issues with the skins are with the female sets awkward handling of the chests. There’s wayyy too much emphasis on the breasts. The contrasts is the highest on them due to how the shading was handled, and the armor pieces frame around the outer edges of the breasts rather than covering it. It makes the models appear nude rather than clothed.

Another issue I have is that there are too many tiny “articles” on a lot of the male sets (and female asura/charr sets). The little bits and pieces that are branching out from various parts of the chest piece or that are unattached altogether make it hard to really focus on other aspects of the design, and really take away from the other more interesting areas. The fact that the blue area of the armor looks so much like skin rather than a surface those articles could be believably attached to makes them look out of place. The design is so whacky in a unique sense, but the articles on the chest piece don’t fit compared to how the rest of the armor pieces interact with the figure. This could be fixed if they were maybe dulled down. Maybe if there were more large chunks of the plating on the chest and only 2-3 of these little articles, while still preserving quite a bit of that “negative space” from the blue, it would fit better with the rest of the design. (Side note: I don’t expect these to be “fixed”, I’m just giving critique for future reference :p )

I also think the high heel shoes on the light armor female set takes away from the set because it’s soo thin looking while the rest of the set has a lot of heaviness and clunky aspects despite the skimpy design. Juxtaposing is good, but in this sense it feels out of place. There’s already a lot of contrasting weight between the chest piece + the stocking design and the skirt, shoulders, and helm.

(Sorry for wall of text, I just wanted to give a reasonably sized critique!)

WvW - Three Likes & Three Hates

-Large organized fights
-Combo fields largely benefiting players
-Greater sense of community
-Being able to bring your whole guild together to accomplish something
-Havocs

Dislikes & Suggestions:
-The maps have become boring/too familiar for dedicated wvw players. All the borderlands are the same. It’d be interesting if each map was different for the world with the corresponding color, that way servers would have more reason to strategize each week for defending the map for their homeworld and it would present new challenges for taking other maps.
-Arrow cart damage has become too high. Towers and keeps should have a siege cap.
-PvE events in WvW
-Characterbound wxp
-Specific classes not being as useful as others
-Hammer warriors/stun locking can be extremely OP
-Oceanic servers vs NA servers. Or servers with both a NA and Oceanic presence going up against a server that only has one presence. It’s not a fun fight for people on either side because A.) no challenge for Oceanics if the other servers are asleep B.) The few people that do get online during that time get curb stomped every day
-Pets aren’t useful in WvW. They get dps’d to death in seconds in large fights
-Commander UI could be improved. Make a Commander chat for communication across all wvw maps. Squad chat/Squad UI could also be improved for all people in the squad. Also commanders being able to change their tag color to coordinate better on the same map would be useful.
-Should have an auto respawn timer
-Ruins seem to have died out for the most part on my server. I can’t really speak for others, but it seems like something that has become largely ignored by the community. The design of the area is fantastic, but the function is lackluster at the moment.

To be clear, lich form has 30s of stability and death shroud has 20s. We don’t have access to our heals during that time, though, so it kind of sucks. The cool downs are also incredibly long compared stability skills on other classes, it takes 3 whole minutes.
Well of power has 1s of stability as well but that stability is useless, really.

Dagger #5 needs to be a blast imo. Being able to get might from fire fields would be fantastic.
Staff #4 is a blast, but you need to have an enemy walk on the mark for it to be activated so it’s really not useful for blasting might unless you’re in a boss fight.

As far as skins go, I’d love to see some more female light armor skins that have more of a powerful feeling rather than a delicate one. There are lots of “sexy” armors for light armor females, but there aren’t a lot of tough looking skins for them. I think there are also an overwhelming amount of skirt/dress/“butt cape” style armors in the game in general as well and a surprising lack of pants/leggings. I’d like to see some more pants that can embody the powerful and or elegant style for both females and males across light armor especially. Heavy armor lacks a lot of pant-like skins as well. Medium armor HAS pants, but the chest pieces almost always cover them up.

In terms of “sexy” skins, we only really see those with females. An example of this would be the winged armor set. As a woman, it looks like you designed the female set with only a male audience in mind. The female set is completely different than the male set for seemingly no other reason. It’d be nice if you could make both the “male” version and the “female” version available for all genders. Making more of these “male” and “female” versions available across the board would even out the playing field for both genders in terms of sexy and practical armor.

Another point to make on this is that quite a few of the female armors present extremely unnecessary aesthetics from the character model. The tier three human medium cultural armor flashes an under boob on female models. Why? What is the purpose of that? There’s no real defensible reason for that exposure other than “it looks sexy”. Two other examples of this I can think of were (more than likely) accidental slips from the two female light armor pants, the embroidered and tactical armor sets, where the only two pants available for light armors are so low riding that the character models have their bum cracks flashing every time they get into a combat stance. Seeing examples of things like this makes it look like the art team isn’t handling female character models well. I like both tactical and sexy armor, but I’d like to see the latter handled in a more respectful light.

Speaking of cultural armor, it is obvious that the art team had made skins for the human T3 light armor across all races after the gemstore release of the flaming version. Cultural weapons are available to all races, so why not cultural armor? Having cultural armor skins available to all races would allow more users to have unique skins on their characters. Could you imagine a charr with T3 asuran light armor? That would be an interesting sight to see.

I’m going to be that guy and bring up the idea of a skin locker here. I think having a skin locker in a very similar fashion to DC Universe Online’s costume system would be a great way to promote individual character progression for mains and alts. Being able to unlock these skins in a similar fashion to how they’re obtainable now would be interesting, especially for karma based skins, because it would bring back interest in some of the community in doing map completion on alts.
Meta event rewards can also be a chore because I find that I have so many skins left over that I don’t know what to do with them. I want to save them because they’re exclusive skins, but I often delete them because they’re just sitting in my bank or inventory for months. I like the idea of being able to stick them in their own area almost like a trophy for participation until I find a use for them. I understand this can be achieved with bank tabs but it doesn’t have the same effect when it’s surround by bloodstone dust and boosters. It is also unreasonable to do with banks as the living story goes on and more and more skins are released. This would also allow for account-wide progression with the locker other than what we see with skin unlocks through the achievement system.
I have 9 characters total so gearing is a lot of work. I have to decide on a build that I like and then skins that I enjoy and stick to those for as long as I possibly can until I can’t stand looking at them anymore or balance changes tamper with my build. Changing those skins+stats feels really punishing, especially on alts, because I know that I worked hard to obtain them and used cash to transmute them. I’m reluctant to change my builds because of the fact that I feel stuck to them. This is especially true on my main character when it comes to using new builds as I really enjoy the way I look, but I’m not sure if I want to go through the trouble of coming up with another look that I enjoy or if I should try to get the same exact skins that I already have.
I’ve noticed a similar issue with ascended armor as well because quite a few people don’t enjoy the way the armor looks and like the way their character looked before the release of the new tier. However, if they transmuted their armor no one will know that it’s ascended. The skin is a status symbol; a sign that you worked really hard for something for your character. Having the ability to toggle those skins on and off would be a life improvement for the majority of players.
The locker would also be an interesting feature if it allowed town clothes to be implemented into it and utilized while taking damage. The community has called for town clothes to be used in combat in the past and I’ve heard some claim they won’t bother with the feature until it’s usable 100% of the time.
I realize that this idea is an overhaul of the way skins are used in the game with pve and wvw and what I’ve mentioned doesn’t account for stat acquisition aaand that if it were implemented it would take a long time but I do think it’s worth looking into!

Reanimator has a built in cap, people don’t realize it because its near impossible to keep that many up. Its 5.

And no, Reanimator will still be bad. Less bad, because they are finally fixing one of its issues, but they are fixing the smaller of its two biggest issues, which is that it will still not trigger when you actually need it in the majority of difficult encounters. It just means you’ll get a few more of them from trash mobs.

And it’s completely useless in WvW.

Borlis Pass has a queued green borderland at about 60 people. It’s getting pretty ridiculous. We have checked the map and the JP and the ruins. Asking “Where is everyone?” a thousand times. We had about 47 people on a commander and 6 people elsewhere after waiting around for 15 minutes trying to account for everyone.
When going up against another queued map, it’s really ridiculous.

As a necromancer I’m going to speak on behalf of a few of my fellow necros on BP that have at least 5 points in the blood magic trait line. I can deal with being nerfed as condimancer, but that summon jagged horror trait HAS to go as a forced trait. It’s practically useless. The jagged horror often dies before you move on to another enemy or dies almost immediately during battle or just gets in the way of PvE content like the jade maw for example. I can’t count how many times the maw has targeted my jagged horror after I killed a spawn for a crystal and then felt like a moron for it getting in the way.
The trait is especially an issue in WvW. When I go into large open field fights, the horror is killed practically instantly. There’s no time for it to get any bleeds up or make an actual difference in a fight. It feels like I flushed 5 trait points down the drain just so I could get staff mastery, and that’s not a good feeling.
I personally don’t care what it would be replaced with, as long as that mechanic is gone and not forced upon players. You could even keep the trait, but make it OPTIONAL. Please consider relooking at that trait in terms of large scale content, thank you.

I was part of the player base that tried their hardest to save city of heroes and it was worthless.. ncsoft didn’t care. They had already made their decision. No matter what you say and how much you beg for cantha, ncsoft won’t give anet permission to build it. I’d absolutely love to have cantha in the game, or even just ONE canthan district (Seriously… why is that too much to ask? What to do canthans in tyria do…? How do they preserve their culture?) but ncsoft has already decided how they want gw2 to be.

I don’t know if this was intentionally designed this way or not, but there is a light armor set called tactical that I really like. It’s one of the only forms of “pants” for light armor skins. [Side note – anet, more light armor pants skins for females please! (; ] It’s also one of the few skins that really suits a necromancer.
But it appears that there’s something up with it. You often times get a peak at the character models butt, especially while attacking and especially when sitting down. I didn’t want to post this on the bug forums because I really don’t know if it’s a bug or not.
It’s pretty silly but I really wish this was changed. :/

If you actually believe there are any flat options available, you’re sadly mistaken. The cup sizes of the human females are a C at the least. Their chest size may be different in thickness, but their actual bust is larger than a B. There’s a difference between band size and cup size and I think you’re confusing the two.
This is coming from someone that actually knows how bra sizes work, boys.
Long story short, they should add ACTUAL flat options for those who desire it. Not 30C’s.

As a woman, I don’t mind makeup on a norn female. But there should definitely be more natural looking options. I assume that not every warrior takes the time to put makeup on in the same way a woman in the real world doesn’t. (I’d like to note that some female athletes DO where make up, however. So a norn wearing makeup is not ridiculous or out of the question.)

A lot of the options seem a little too barbie, which is fine, if they actually offered more variety. They need to have more fierce and rugged options. They should definitely have faces that show their age like the male face options provide. NONE of the female face options show any real age difference or have wrinkles. That’s just ridiculous imo.

And scars should most definitely be a separate category and not just be available for one face. For all races and genders.

PVE: high population server, where you can still find friendly people to run a quick dungeon, Fractal and with a bit more difficult for personal storylines.

PVP: medium population, with a full hand of excellent sPvPers.

WvW: high population, server with small queues to enter (5 to 10 minutes the most) and only during the reset day (Friday). In this content you can always find action and some drama by reading in global chat more opinions and calls to arms per minute than quaggans guarding noodles!

I would say it’s more like…

PvE: low~medium – Whenever I guest on other high pop servers, I’m often surprised at how many people are in LA spamming dungeons and stuff. Or farming in areas like orr…
PvP: very low – We have virtually no pvpers ranked in the top 100 comparatively to other servers.
WvW: medium – Clearly… as tier indicates. Having a queue only on reset day is definitely not something that’s “high population”.

Ultimately, we’re in the bottom half in terms of population count as indicative of population count on world selection as you can often see “medium” for borlis pass whereas half of the other servers in NA rarely – if ever – reach anything other than very high.

I definitely agree about PvE and WvW that the above poster described. A lot of people like to blame our more stagnant numbers during the week on the PvE participation.. but the truth is that there aren’t that many people participating in PvE as many active WvW players are lead to believe. Balth is rarely uncontested, Orr is often empty save some groups farming in Cursed Shore. The vast majority of group events go unnoticed unless they have a boss chest at the end.

The staff 1 for necro was fine for me… but the auto attack on the shortbow sounds like it’s going to make my ears bleed if I listen to it for too long. :/ That needs to be changed AND that kitten mini firestorm. Its walk sound effect is the loudest sound in the entire game.

I agree so much! Jeremy Soule is my favorite composer as well, and I own all four discs of this soundtrack and there are so many beautiful and interesting compositions that should be used.

There were a lot of times that I was really confused with the placement of the music in the personal story. The one that stands out the most was the cleansing of Orr. They picked the piano piece of “Fear Not This Night” to play during it. And it really took away from the epic feel of what was happening. You’re being swarmed by risen and the emotions expressed in the music don’t match what’s happening to your character. The music in that instance was very quiet, as well. I found that to be the biggest disappointment when it came to audio placement.

They seem to over use “Fear Not This Night” in the game. For example, it’s utilized when you view a vista in The Grove. Why not play a segment from “Ventari’s Legacy” or “Out of the Dream”? I agree with all of the points you listed. I hope we get to hear some more great compositions in the game.

Orders rendered useless after personal story

To me it feels like after you complete your personal story (or get to it’s later missions, even), the order you’ve aligned yourself with is no longer important and basically ignored. You can get weapon and armor skins, but there’s nothing outside of that.
I feel as if there should be some repeatable quests you can do for your order, or a dungeon for people in your order, or something interesting that indicates that you did in fact join an order at all.

Each order also has it’s own specific goals. For example, the order of whispers is an Elonian order that seeks to gather information on elder dragons. Perhaps players can be sent on quests to do that.

I don’t think this content should be implemented immediately, perhaps as the pact decides to go further in their quest for defeating the elder dragons, but I think that it should definitely be included in the future. The LS did give some order content with Flame and Frost, but it wasn’t specific for your character’s order and nor was it interesting or engaging. All you did was collect stuff and give it to an npc.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Voice Customisation in Character Creation?

I really wish I could change my character’s voice as well. I play a human female as my main and the voice absolutely does not fit the way my character looks. It can be rather annoying. :p I think there should be at least two options for voices, but I doubt anet would implement this feature so late after release.

In regards to the LS content, I agree there. I don’t think the dungeon instances should be made available again, but I’d like to rewatch some of the cutscenes/play the solo instances.

If you check the lore on the official wiki, the DSD doesn’t have to do with Cantha. The reason we can’t go to Cantha is because of the rise of Zhaitan and Cantha’s xenophobic leadership. Zhaitan’s minions officially cut off Cantha though, because they destroyed any ships that attempted to cross the sea.
The DSD has more to do with Quaggans, Largos, and Krait than the Canthan empire. You’ll only see hints at the DSD from those npcs.

I really wish they would sell them in the gem store as individual skins. Hell, they could charge 10 bucks a pop for them and I’d buy one. I’m not spending a dime on RNG, though. :/ It just bites you in the kitten unless you’re lucky. They use it for everything, from legendary precursors to boss chests… it’s just getting to be too much.

I’ve wasted 100 rares and gotten maybe one exotic. I bought 20 exotics off the tp to see if I would end up wasting less money and ended up getting my precursor on the first try. The RNG gods smiled upon me that day. :p

The Legendary Quest

I’d love to see an extension of personal stories that really relate back to the character’s original choices (i.e. a human who was raised among the commonfolk, charr of the blood legion, norn that worships bear’s spirit…) and that are extremely challenging. Or to make it simpler, something that relates to your order. Perhaps it can replace some element of the current gold grind. All I know is that there are a lot of things that are forgotten about or don’t seem to matter to the character anymore after your quest is done. You don’t meet with your order, you don’t see characters that are key elements of the earlier part of your story, and your character is sort of left alone. If they do add a quest relevant do the legendary, it’d be nice to see a few of these other characters return to assist you on your journey.
(Sorry for the bump, but I think these ideas are really interesting and should get more attention! :p)

You’re contributing to the necro-ing, buddy. Also, they’re talking about making them account bound? Why would farming them for yourself be an issue..? I think you’re confused.
Tbh I’ve done map completion twice that’s how I got my clovers. So, what you’re saying is pretty much already true. Stones and crystals are easy to get, it’s just rather annoying when you have stray stones that you can’t combine with other stacks, or that you have stacks across several characters that take up several inventory spaces/bank spaces. It’s more of an issue of convenience than making things “easier to get”.
