As for duo que. Since mods r reading this and giving a feedback to devs, I’d rather ask you not to bring up again the removal of DUO QUE. If you want to play solo – go play SC2. All MMOs are about cooperation.
Despite of the fact, that you have some ideas, but you r missing bigger picture (maybe cuz you r new to tpvp). (i.e. – points 3, 4, 5 are irrelivant and couldnt understand anything in #2, but maybe it was good)

To be fair, I want Anet to give us automated tourneys back, like it was at the begginin of GW2. I know, that they sucked (specific time, etc.).
Yet, from my perspective, since I ve just returned to the game after 2 year break, it’s sad, that the ONLY WAY you can run 5v5s are self-organised scrimishes with other teams.
It is true, that there are no teams right now -> hence no need to return only team Q mode.
Id suggest keep solo/duo que & implement team ranked tourneys system, like u did in GW1. More teams will be formed, you basically lose nothing by implementing it.
Ok, i think i ve remembered why u couldnt make recordings, due to some server issuses, i.e. how ppl connect to the game & how their movement/skills are reflected to the server. Which means, that u can record at least one player of the team.
Can u make like 10 recordings (of each player in a match) & sync em?

But any news about observer mode? Cuz i feel like (for like past 2 years) new players have no actual source to learn how 2 PvP(in-game&created by developers). I mean nowadays people rarely stream team based games.
I know that there was a mechanics, that allowed Anet approved casters to cast top tier ranked matches (some window pop’ed up & casters were able to join & commentate).
So why did u remove such system?
Is there any way to make some delays for such matches? ( I think i heard, that u cant make recordings of matches, but still these matches with some delays will be fun to watch)

me&my team ’ve decided to participate in tournament of legends. We are aiming for top 8 teams in this tourney. Current lineup is the following:

What do we expect from our guardian?
- be at least r60+
- decent knowledge of tactics, current meta, over 500 tourneys on guard
- be chilled, focused, vocal
- and ofc TS3, mic req.

I kinda agree with critique above. Although i understand, that this tourney aims to put more teams in tPvP scene, yet people who organise this tourney should have also given some credit to the teams, which play tPvP and prevent this side of GW2 from death.
It is a little bit late to talk about this, but why there was no qualification for this tourney? It could have been one more huge event for tPvP community (viewers, etc.).
And unfortunately, if today’s patch doesn’t bring enough balance, build variety and fun to this game, then probably the tPvP scene will become even more outmanned.
We all know about the advantage of “blue team” players in Forest map about easy way of getting to high ground on mid point. Also there is a spot for Red team on mid point, where you are untargetable for spells(works pretty well with HGH engi so the range is enough to deal full dps w/o being focused, simply because u cant be focused).
Also recently in ESL i found a spot on mine(red team close point if I didnt name it correctly), where you are simply caged in textures. Its ok in ESL, but u wont be able to unstuck during match in team arena or solo arena(well, u can log out, but u will lose too much time)
So the question is,
do u guys think its balanced and when u gonna fix it?
Reward losses = most stupid ideia ever….
Reward losses = bots, afks, cheaters and gold sellers for REAL money….
Reward losses = Bring gw2 to complete failure…

How you goin to get more teams and viewers? Maybe by changing attitude towards esports in GW2?
I mean all i can see is whining. Anet screwed up its PvP from the start, when it had a lot of teams. It cant be ressurected since then.
I see only 2 ways to solve this problem:
a) player’s donations towards eSports
b) changing attitude towards eSports.
You wanna donate? Fine. Personally, i dont see any point in this.
I got a little tired of reading posts about rewards, leaderboards, blah-blah, etc.
So here are some thoughts I wanna share with players, who really want this game to become eSports:
a) Make more teams(doesnt really matter how good you are, just play, you will get to the top scene eventually, participate in ESL&other tourneys)
b) Get more viewers(for example you are in WvW guild, advertise different tournaments, so we have more people to watch GW2 tPvP)
Reasoning:
overal – eSports is a 2-side based thing. You cant expect ArenaNet, ESL and other organizations to invest their money&time in GW2 eSports idea, if it is not profitable. Therefore we need to make it profitable for them, constant whining definitely wont help.
a) More teams will increase the competitiveness level of GW2 PvP so old hard core teams can actually get back to the game, so there will be actually a competitive scene, which will be interesting to watch(I bet it sucks watching 2round matches with complete domination of one team)
b) more viewers will increase the gains of esportish organizations, therefore(if they aint dumb enough) they will increase the prize pools for tourneys.
Everything seems so kittening easy for me. So people, why dont you stop whining and start making everyone’s dream comming true?

..honestly nothing else needs to be said
1. Monthly tournaments with proper rewards, which are able to encourage WvWvW&PvE players to participate(as well as new teams to form up)
2. Big tournament with decent irl prize pool(if u dont have your own money, ask players to donate, most of us will be glad to do this). As well as 1st point this will increase PvP player base, which will automatically affect number of viewers on twitch, hence huge eSports organisations will have a reason(monetary reason) to host their own tourneys some days.
3. Ingame observe mode of top tier matches, so new players can watch and learn. Also ingame leaderboards(but its just a quality of life change).

This is a bad idea, which gives a huge favor to defensive setups.
And as mentioned before, this is not an issue.
Also imagine the situation, when 2 guys are downed from one team and 1 from another. U proposed:
“- The priority for who is rallied could be decided as whoever has been in downed state longest is rallied first.
- Since the downed player no longer needs to damage the opponent to be rallied, there needs to be a range in order to be rallied(earshot)”
This will force 1st team to go to res 2nd downed guy and to save stomp one downed guy, which is quite complicated. Sometimes also happens, that 2 guys are downed at the same time.
Yet, in atm tPvP downed state phase is most fun thing left(if its not the only one fun thing left in tPvP), so please dont ruin it.
2% is actually huge, when i was soloqueing on my 2nd acc(before the soloq was established), i got +1% raiting for 8 wins in row=)
Ok, im not Anet, but ill respond.
It should be obvious to you, that ladder is unstable right now.
So suppose, that your friend had 1300 raiting(from top of my head) and u had 900 raiting.
During these 2 days more ppl started playing and many of them got over 900 raiting, but rlly low amount (700-667=33) got over 1300 raiting.
Thats pretty much the story.
As i said ladder is very unstable atm(ppl having 11-0 wins and being top 5 its a nonsense, simply due to the fact, that they have low amount of games). It ll stabilise in month or smth and there will be no huge drops, nor huge rank boosts from couple of wins.
Also, can you please change filter on forum, which swaps A_F_K to Akitten?

My idea is very simple and you wont need to read a lot of text.
Can you please make cross server PvP LFG ingame(like GW1ish)?
Advantages:
- people can communicate(therefore more teams could be organised(as we see lack of them on tPvP scene))
- less ppl whining about solo que(as now it’ll be easier to pug up)
- more ppl will be actually playing tPvP, rather than staying Akitten or chating in Heart Of Mists, while waiting for one of their teammates to log in
Disadvantages:
- well, u ll need to waste some time to create it =)
Some ideas “how it can be done?”:
A special “Search” button, like in GW1, a menu pops up with 4 cathegories:
- LFG
- LFM
- Team/guild recruitment
- Looking for guild posts
Also u might wanna write down the server of a person in brackets.

Well, its hard to disagree with Trooper.
@Lyonell, Thiefs cannot backstab you like that if u have protection up. Moreover this class is meant to kill within 2-2.5 secs you if u do not dodge properly or have no stunbreaks and running full berserk build.

bro u havent understood my point, kinda needed to make it more clear.
Those ppl who LEFT the game from pvp did it for several reasons:
a) those you ve listed
b) didnt like conquest, game mechanics, etc.
Some people will not return to the game, even if u fix those bugs, etc.
All im saying, that i think we should focus on ppl who actually LIKE the game and PLAY it.
Guys, the main problem(for Esports especially) is the amount of people playing PvP. In GW1 PvP scene was luxury, people wanted to play PvP to get “closer to stars”.
I totally understand your point, Tundera. But the work should be done in both ways. right now PvP lacks 2 huge things:
a) there is no cross server lfg ingame(like it was in GW1). This automatically leads to lack of teams, lack of players actually playing solo que(cuz u dont wanna get stomped 100 times, thanks to afkers, bad players etc.)
b) ArenaNet has to give people some reason to play PvP, like extra titles, which are not like “i ve played 1000 hrs at hot join”, but something meaning kitten(i.e. read “champion”, “hero”, “gladiator” titles like in GW1)
These 2 factors make PvP scene outnumbered and bad.
I honestly believe, that if Anet will announce a huge tourney(that will be held in half year for example) with semi-decent prize pool AND will fix some game breaking bugs, there will be so many people playing PvP, that will automatically increase their sales(profit for Anet), cuz more people will want to try this game out and actually stay in it(which somehow leads to higher gem store revenues).
Again, i understand, that players can return this game to some decent level. Still PvP will not get competitive, if in whole EU region only 8-14 teams are playing.
P.S.: For shoutcasters: srsly, reread twice(or more if needed), what Tundera has written about cameras and spells. Srsly, i ve been playing PvP for more than 1000hrs and even i cant understand whats goin on, when most of u r shoutcasting

Why people keep telling, that they quit pvp because of no balance and “viable builds”?
I honestly believe, that we can call it a non-GW1 player.
Here is the thing. In all MMOs(which ive played and seen) in order to do pvp you need to level up first, which would take you about..500-700 hrs. Then you should gear up, this will take pretty much the same amount of time. In the end you are decent lets say.. warrior! After a while u go to arena 2v2 and die by every druid+smth set up and can do nothing about it, cuz you ve spent over 1000hrs alrdy and there s no garantee, that you will be able to kill stuff, if u switch to that class.
But its freaking GW2, not WoW or any other MMOrpg! You can create a character and make a build, which is suitable for you within 20 mins.
Again, it depends on the aim of the player. If you want to have fun with your uberproGSslashBANNERslash2xMACE warrior, then its ok, keep crying. But if you want to win tourneys, be good at spvp, then swallow the fact, that warriors suck, log out and create the freaking ele.

I do not really remember what i ve received last month as a pvp reward, but it was like 10 kits, 10slivers, 10glory boosters.
So please tell me, what for do u need all that crap?!
i got like 10 stacks of that kitten powder, 8stacks of orb and like 1-2 stacks of other crap.(might have misspelled stack.. by this i mean 250 units of smth).
I got so many glory boosters, that i need to play 3-4 times more to ever use them. And to be honest, i dont need them as well.
You know what? Some day u can get bored from PvP. And lets say you wanna go some pve or wvwvw. And in this case you will say thank you to Anet!
there is no doubt, that laurels are not the best thing a PvPer can get for monthly. But its definitely better, than the previous reward, which was useless.
P.S.: i think i may be wrong. Because guys who do a lot of hot join do not receive so much crafting material. Well, in this case ye, monthly wud help ya, hot join kings =P

Simple example. Me&other guy play necro and apply for a team. And you really think, that the leader of that team will think that “hmm, that guy is great number of condis cleared. And another guy is amazing at condi spamming, whom should i take?”
And this so-called ranking system doesnt reveal a better player and somehow is explicitly shown by “glory farming”. I mean, do u honestly believe, that the guy who has farmed up most amount of glory during the match has done the best job? I assume it, because your list is telling pretty much this.
There is quite simple elo system in solo que. I dont kno the formula, but I believe it works like that: (average raiting of enemy team)*(max possible rating gain/lose for win/loss) where avg raiting is varies from 0 to 1 and raiting is some constant, developed by Anet. (for instance everyone starts from 1000 rating)
And that is the only possible and noteworthy system. U wanna kno why? Because only victory matters.
again its not true. If I were ranger and got immob, i have bunch of options:
a) hope that trait will work
b) use signet
c) 1h sword and press 3rd skill, which causes full evade
atm ranger is best orb carrier in game. Plus u dont need to team fight on spirit watch, thats why if u pick ranger, u can stop worring about the orb and simply play 4v3(because 1 person can do nothing to tank carrying orb) on other points.
so for you guys rtl is frustrating and “game breaking”. And a tanky ranger orb carrier with tonns of evades is ok?!
And srsly, I have a feeling, that old gamers have simply forgotten how “good” was WoW’s 1st year, GW1’s 1st year. Take a look at the new MMOs (around 2010ish). Im pretty sure, 90% of those people abandoned during first year(and please name at least one, so i can change my mind).
People want everything from the start. They are LAZY and dont want to spend more time in game to understand how it works.

about 1v1s. Im used to believe, that GW2 is a tactical game. There is an option, that u can swap characters before the tourney starts(even in-game, but i believe its gonna be fixed anyways). Therefore, if you honestly believe, that a class which u wud prolly face 1v1 is stronger than urs, then counter pick it. Or run the same build.
Most ppl are leaving GW2 not thanks to 3nodes system.
People are leaving GW2, because there is no motivation in PvP.
It has no challenge atm. No ladder, no championships, no goal at all.
There is no observable ranking. 2 things that can be seen: rank & QPs. Both of those depend on time spend in-game. Which seems pretty unfair to people, who come home and wanna play 1-2 hrs after job.
Yet, many people stay, because Anet managed to develop the most amazing and most skill req(well i believe so) MMORPG. Its like what for do you need monks, when you have stun breakers, 2 dodge rolls & vigor?(more over your teammates can actually heal you up).
Once again to stress my point. Hardcore PvPers need some motivation to play it.
P.S.: About the MMR system. Its pretty horrible, cuz i farmed it up in couple of days, when the map has just released(won about 70-80 matches, lost about 4-5). Now when i solo/due que with my friend i face only decent premades AND have guys with 10-19 rank in my team. MMR idea is good, but it needs to be separated(team from solo/due que)
By the way, about the matchmaking system.
I have faced quite interesting fact during these 2 week of paids: people with low rank/QP’s are getting easy QP if they are somehow decent.
I know that this system prevents the high ranked/exp’ed teams from “stomping out” the newcomers, but dont you think that in this way high ranked premades are putting way more effort to gain the same amount of QP?

i believe JSharp&other developers are trying to use the current LoL system in GW2.
If u dont know, it is some kind of “tier/league” system. Each team/player are divided in divisions due to their success in first games + previous season. So basically, you receive points for victory and move to different tier/league. It is pretty much the same as rating/elo system, but with different sauce.
There is a chance that i misunderstood the JSharp’s post.
2JSharp, can u explain how exactly r u going to use this system? "you will not know the actual #. " Because I honestly believe, that rating system is the most clear and obvious right now, as it was used in Guild Wars 1. Which was quite fair and observable.

ranks are gained super fast in this game. Plus i believe its the only game, where rank points are given for the loss(which is a total crap by the way, cuz you can easily get more points then your enemy, while losing the match). Anet made a super casual game and you want more?)
Moreover, why do you need those ranks? To show off to sm1? every1 knows, that rank depends on time you ve spent + some skill(to gain more pts). So basically you can get same amount of showing off by pressing /age and posting it somewhere.
P.S.: if u get 150 glory per match, then you r doing something wrong. I do not play hot join anymore, but i ve used to farm up like 320-370(before top stat awards) on average like 3 mnths ago, when I failed completely at this game
