Metabattle can provide informations on WvW, not alot, but at least it is something!
https://metabattle.com/wiki/Guide:WvW_Guide_For_a_Novice

Anyway. Here’s my advice.
1. If there’s no commander, surefire chance that there is no zerg in this borderland. Switch to another one if your build that you uses for WvW does not function with roaming.

2. If you’re quite skilled, which I’m seeing your goal for the Legendary as stated in your post. You’re not limited to sentries, and ruin capture. You can also try, and attempt to solo a Camp. They’re relatively easy to do, and seldom to have player defenders stopping you.

Aside from that. Welcome to the WvW.

In my experience, Mesmer. Mesmers are quite the gimmicky folk to level. They do not have large variety of weapons, and their primary focus are conditions [Confusion, Torments].

So if you don’t have a mesmer already. I would advise using the level 80 boost if you plans on doing ton of JPs that is a struggle to complete!

Yes. You’ll be okay! Just note that it is major struggle to get yourself integrated, and comfortable with difficulties of understanding the gamemode! You’ll have to spend a bit of a time steadying some guides to understand whats to do!

But I hope you good luck on WvW.

You really don’t need multiple pass. Sure, if you’re the kind of person that loves to explore, go ahead! But if you want to be price-efficient, you can just use one pass since they have access to all of the zones.

Really, Mistlock pass is only for people who frequently do fractals, and it caters to them. If you’re person that do ton of Fractal. Then I guess Mistlock pass is good picking up on.

Metabattle is slightly outdated. Sometimes it’s not exactly the best build, and sometimes it’s just best to stay away from the site if it’s having major issues.

Fractals, and crafting are no longer the primary way to obtain Ascended armor. This can now be done by doing raiding, doing WvW, doing sPVP, or just the old 2 ways. But these are new ways. I don’t know much about PvE section yet.

You should first complete the HoT storyline if you had not. This is so you opens up several collections that will award you ascended equipments as long as you fulfill the condition. This’ll greatly helps you in the long run.

Finally, my advice. Make sure you get a taxi onto a good PvE map if you are doing HoT meta, because most maps are going to be either dead, or are doing HP train. You don’t need to do Hero Points anymore if you’re a WvW’er by heart, because they provided an alternative way to get hero points by just exclusively doing WvW.

Now there you go! Hope you enjoy the game.

Why not Steam?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dlarnkk.1068

I dislike this kind of threads being spammed over, and over with constant ‘Why can’t we get this game to Steam!’

The fact that Arenanet, after nearly five years of success, shouldn’t need to fall back to Steam just to keep the exposure. They have done so much stuff, and accomplished lots. Why should they now bring Guild wars 2 to Steam, just so Steam can profit off the hard-work as well?

The current condition that Guild wars 2 have right now, is sufficient, and completely grand. It have been competence, and been satisfying the needs of several players who need a decent MMORPG.

Or a break from life, and enjoy something. The issue with Steam, is that it doesn’t bring anything new to Guild wars 2, but rather slow down the development that Arenanet is doing, because it means that the money that you gives them will be sliced down by 30%. Meaning that Arenanet cannot develop a lot of contents more easily.

So as much as you want to say why we can’t have Guild wars 2 to being on Steam. Just accept that this game had been around for nearly 5 years, and the fact that it’s not on steam should answer the question that it’ll never be on steam for quite the long time. Probably never.

Hair and Height

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dlarnkk.1068

Dlarnkk.1068

No.
The races will not share the same hairstyle in every aspect. Some will adopt other hairstyle into their own culture because of how they’re used to it. They’re not going to dramatically dress up like a norn. They just want to retain a sense of identity, and concept of themselves as a race as whole.

Your height idea will never be implemented, on other note. People do not technically approve the idea of children going to war, and fighting war for adults. Not to mention that Arenanet will not lower the height measurement, and continue to keep it the way it is. Taimi’s height is an exception because she’s a NPC.

PC =/= NPC. PC will dress their ‘child’ character inproper, while developers know what they’re doing with the NPCs. The PC do it just for fun, or other things.

And even if you want to try to counter the argument by saying, ‘Make the clothing more proper if equipped onto child PC’, they will not. They have enough work to deal with for all five races, and they don’t need an extra burden of work on their shoulder to create armor for children PCs.

Everyone seem to be abandoning the losing servers for the winning ones.

A Lack of Solo Content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dlarnkk.1068

Dlarnkk.1068

MMOs are not one-player games.

No, MMOs are games where you can choose to play with other players than just soloing.

And other than raids, dungeons and fractals, the entire game is soloable so … not really a lack of content.

And with enough skill many dungeons and fractals are soloable.

As far as I’m called. This isn’t OMMO [Optional massively multiplayer online] game. Every time you managed to solo an instance, fractal, or dungeon. Arenanet will move the goalpost, and increase the difficulty slightly, or give your class a nerf to make it impossible to re-use that same build. If anything, they want to encourage the players to be working together in community. Not against each other.

On a relevant note, what are you attempting to accomplish by solo’ing content that requires an effort of a group.

Actually wvw have a background. Google for myst, hall of heroes. Pvp always happens in the myst, even in gw1. The Myst is a liquid place, nothing permanent and nothing real, everything build up from the echos of the reality. And in the middle of the myst, there is the hall of heroes, the waygate between diferent realitys. The myst had 3 entrace, but they are destroyed (as we know) so the asuras started to build portals (fractals, pvp lobby, wvw) and sent troops in the damgerous places. Of course a lot of realms did the same, and soon or later found each other. And what do you do if your well armed company meets a well armed company in a hostile enviroment? You start fight. Every realm thinks the others are attackers, who want to invide.

was referring to recently to this game all there is right now is three factions fighting eachother for no apparent reason other than to hold a tower which does nothing for the economy of there world

Mist war is precisely a sport. A fun, a competition. It holds no actual grain, and or such. It could be believed that Mist war was designed by Balthazar himself, and then left it there. Letting itself change over time gradually, transforming the terrains for the competitive combatants to try to take advantage of.

In reality, it’s just Mist. It have no actual lore, no actual link, or any other explanation. Mist is Mist, and it should not be explained, or comprehended as. It’s he force that deny everything we know, and cannot be explained logically without making it sound silly in our heads.

The world linking was designed to help utilize grouping, and causing the worlds to be more lively again, after it’s decrease. The WvW developers was seeking for a solution to remedy the population, and give it a great boost in numbers over the map.

They decided by world linking. For the first course, and second course of this week. Everyone’ll be disorientated, confused, and trying to figure out how to coordinate, and communicate. Some world pairings got together faster than other world pairing, while some argues, and bickers.

Of course that’ll change eventually, and they’ll learn to accept each others. Another thread called it great idea, and yet calls it poor execution.

Let not forget that if you’re born in United state. Your grandparent, or yourself if you’re very old, underwent the change yourself. Gradually accepting someone of a different side. We’ll eventually accept this other world, since we fought them alot. Now we’re just pals fighting another enemy together.

The best alternative is to do this;
Link ALL the worlds together.
There is a total of 24 servers. There are 3vs3vs3.

Divide 24 by 3, 8 worlds. 8 worlds per each server.

Then let the chaos ensues.
Chaos for day, man. Chaos for day.

If you decides to link all the worlds together, you can probably get the biggest WvW conflict in history of GW2. Too bad you’ll truly never have 8 worlds vs 8 worlds vs 8 worlds [in EU case, 9 worlds vs 9 worlds vs 9 worlds]

The unfortunate downside is this will never actually happen. You have to accountt eh size of the map, and the amount of buildings there is. You’ll need to re-design the entire map.

Also the Pale Tree might be able to help control magic, she is a dragon minion after all. So we have two potential replacement elder dragons. Later stories might add more.

Dragon minions don’t absorb magic, unlike the Elder dragons. She is incapable of consuming magic, and keeping it at relative level. If she was actually capable, then Modrem wouldn’t had this much influence over the land.

What the hell is magic

in Lore

Posted by: Dlarnkk.1068

Dlarnkk.1068

The magic is a kind of force originated from the Dragons themselves for constant era, after era. The magic is not just merely magic, but rather a bit of particle that floats in the air. The magic itself is essential foundation for many, and other things. While Magic is a touchy subject, there’s many theories coming in from all sides. I’ll go ahead, and offer you my input.

Magic originated from the dragons themselves. The reason of such origin was that dragon constantly releases magic contained within their bodies as they slumber throughout the centuries. Therfore, the magic is usually referred as Dragon’s energy. It is entirely possible for an individual to not be capable of manipulating this magic, if they’re not native to Tyria. Which was believed that Humanity wasn’t originally on Tyria, and came from somewhere else if Abbadon bestowed a gift to use magic upon them.

Now let go down deeper. The Magic is sealed away by the King Doric to try to increase the control over magic, and prevent outrageous disasters that was orchestrated with this form. He spills his blood, and The Five gave him the Bloodstone. Containers of magic. These special stones plays a valuable role.

The bloodstone is a container of magic, holding magic to itself. Unable to be depleted of magic, as it’s a holding ground. It prevents magic from permanently fading from the face of Tyria, which the dragons’ intention was to do. Having clear desire to just consume the entire planet empty of it’s magic supply. Then leaves it to go to another planet, and sleep there instead.

Now, I did mentioned that magic originated from the dragons. Yes it’s understandably that Mist may be also the place containing high volume of magic. Considering that the Mist is a foundation, building block, memories, and everything within Tyria. It may be that you can still use magic within Mist. Because everything’s a memory, a repeat, or what so ever. Meaning that magic cannot fade from Mist.

However magic can fade from Tyria. What happens when magic fade from Tyria? No one can use magic again. Everyone’ll be reduced to absolute zero magic aptitude over generation, and have difficulty surviving the terrains. Waypoint wouldn’t function, magic devices would fail, and magical weapons will fade.

So don’t go to space, kid. Space lacks any form of magic! Yeah, that would be my input.

Suggestion: WvW Observation Mode

Dlarnkk.1068

Do not disregard that WvW is not a timed instance like sPVP. It lasts for one long week, and persists quite a long time certainly. Where the world is dynamic, and everyone is constantly fighting. By going observation mode, you can actually coordinate with your commanders who are not in WvW.

By skype, of course. They’ll know of enemies’ location, where they at. Sees who’s flipping. This potentially creates a dangerous abuse. Taking advantage of the game provided, and going far with it.

I’m against it, OP. Sorry.

New Race !

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dlarnkk.1068

Dlarnkk.1068

In fact there is no requirement that they would have to join any of the Main Three organizations, Vigil, Priory, or Whispers, and could be their own thing, not even needing to join any organization, their whole personal story could be all about how they chose to side with the “Outsiders” nothing more.

The Personal Story of the New Race, in no means needs to mirror or mimic the Personal Story of any of the core races.

In fact, I’ll go a step further, there is no requirement that this new race needs to start at level 1, they could auto start at level 60, and their personal story starts there, with only one Act and 3 chapters.

Act 1: Leaving Home to Help the Outsiders fight a Dragon.. that’s it folks!
Chapter 1: getting out of your Home City
Chapter 2: Meeting the Outsider Scum Forging an Alliance with the Outsiders.
Chapter 3: Go to face to a Dragon.

>Headstarts them to level 60.
> People wants revenants headstarted to level 80.
> Arenanet didn’t let that happen.
> Unsurprised poster forget that revenant was this case.
> People wants Revenant to have it own storyline.
> Arenanet didn’t provide either.
> Therefore a paradox is made, that a Revenant existed before Rytlock.

Arenanet will never level-boost an class, race, or anything. They’ll leave it all to start at level one. Meaning that they’ll have to create all the many stories from level 10 to level 80. Why do you think creation of a new race is a major red flag, and distracts arenanet away from trying to expand the overall area for end-game content?

I can understand somewhat skipping some stories, but you must recognize that most of the stories already occured. It wouldn’t make sense for a xenophobic race, like the Tengu, to be suddenly open. They are isolated within their walls for a reason ya’know.

The OP got burned!
Oh crud, everyone! Original Poster Got burned!

I gotta agree. Everyone here is just squeeing at sight of ‘LET GET NEW RACE!’ every time. Then they don’t recognize the issue with that. How are you going to explain a tengu person being pact commander? How are you going to explain a jotun being a pact commander? How are you going to explain Edgy McSnowflake Great Overlord Of Satan from The Mist being a pact commander? How are you going to explain Balthazar being a pact commander?

Developers can’t just click, and drag all they want. They need to create meaningful explanation, and because of this. They would rather avoid adding tengu, unless they want toa dd in a bunch of new story episode, exclusive to them of course, explaining why they would come to the Order. Then again, it wouldn’t make much sense as they wouldn’t be a pact cmomander, and they would have to create a Pact commander who is uniquely stronger than the main character, and once capable of eliminating Elder dragons. You can’t just force the story onto a story.

It doesn’t work like that, unless you twists the logic. I can understand some stupid thing Arenanet pulls off, but this one is bigger than what kind of stupidity Arenanet would pull. In addition, to properly develop this new race.

You would need to re-design all the current existing skins, including outfit to fit to the new race. Including weapon sizing, including 9 unique racial armor. Then you’ll also need to create a new set of cultural weapon for that race as well.

Finally after you do that, you need to provide hairstyle, including many variation of hairstyle, faces, body shapes, height, and face adjustments. Then you would need to create their starter zone, which requires cut-scenes, and more voice actors.

Then you must design their entire starter zone, including it own hearts, and other means. Planning out the land, figuring out vista, heart, PoIs, and other things. Then they would have to create
One long line of Personal living story. Which goes from episode 1 to very final episode, which the character joined the Pact after the death of Modremorth.

Then Arenanet would have to clean out any bugs, issues, and as well creating two to three new zones just for that race. As well developing all sort of whacks.

TL:DR Creating a race is just nightmare.

Questions about reward tracks

in WvW

Posted by: Dlarnkk.1068

Dlarnkk.1068

Here’s a math -

If you have 8 hour of gameplay in WvW. Then eight time sixty [8×60 = 480.], you spends around 480 minutes in there. If you maintains constant maximum participation for 480 minutes. You’ll also need to do the math to see how many points you scored.

It takes around 14 minutes for the scores to tick. So 480 divided by 14 equals 34. Now that we secured 34 ticks. We’ll now proceed.

At maximum participation, you get 575 WvW point. 34 time 575 equals 19,550. You’ll secured around 19.5k participation point toward a reward track.

Now we’re not exactly done, the reward track is about 25k participation point to be completed. You’ll only be able to finish later. Of course the WvW reward track helps players away from having to do PvE content such as dungeons, or relativity of it. It encourages players to do WvW some more.

They’re just experimenting, and so far, it’s doing great! Of course to get 25k participation points; You would need 10 hours, and 30 minutes. There you go. :P

Most of the tracks you can repeat, if you had done their PvE conterpart, of course. Now have fun.

Comparing children to asura is like comparing a pencil to a lion. They’re not even the same thing. People accidentally equates asura as childlike because they constantly plays human.

That’s like, saying – If I’m Norn player. I would equate human as childlike. Because almost majority of Norn kid NPCs are average human adult height.

Hullujah, disappearing world bosses chest.

Dlarnkk.1068

Hullujah! An angry thread.
About what?
specifically world bosses.

Had you ever finally contributed to the world boss fight, and watching as it health goes down? Then your computer freezes up, or the game crash abruptly. You would try to re-start it fanatically, in hysterical state. Those who were lucky, were able to get the reward on time. Others? Not so much.

While if you manage to stay there til the end, and the boss crash. You’ll also suffer a bit of consequences. For an instance, you cannot get the chest. Why? Because you already killed the world boss, but you didn’t get the ‘physical chest’. You may gotten the chest that’s hovering above your map. But you never got the physical chest provided by the world boss.

Then you just have to be patient, waiting for it’s next respawn. And you killed it off again, this time with some lag, or some almost near-freeze moment.

And the boss doesn’t drop the physical chest. Which is well, irritating for those who suffered these very moments, just staring at their monitor. Wondering how the world boss does not drop their own chest. It’s like you’re forced to wait until the reset if you never got the Physical chest. Making you feel helpless, as you have to waste more time waiting for the reset.

Considering that even if you manage to contribute good sum of damage to the world boss, and somehow just crashed near the end of the event. Do you somehow just wish Arenanet would just make it so that account-bound chests can respawn if you had not opened the current chest?

What do you think?

TL:DR – It’s mostly about the physical chest that won’t respawn until the reset timer. Not the shaking chest that pops above the mini-map, you’ll alway get it. Even if you froze, or crash.

The community is in fact balanced in term of kindness, and toxicity. While sure, the community may look nice. It also can be mean if you digs deeper. Like almost every MMORPG community out there. These are also rude players that you’ll eventually encounters. The Guild wars 2 community is no exception to having rude players inside it. Course the PvE made it so friendly because Arenanet strived to
1. Eliminate the PvE killsteal.
2. Everyone can resurrect eachanother!
3. They make it so you can work together on one quest! [Events in our term.]
4. They encourages players to get together to have fun instead of taking on the game alone.

. . .While it may leads to
1. Players will get upset if event is not done right.
2. Players’ll also get upset if someone is not occuring that other objective
3. We also have PvP side of community. You knows how this entails.
4. People will try to compare themselves between eachanother to see how good they are.

So I will say this -
We may have good community -
But we’re not immune to facing the reality.

I alway wanted to know if Arenanet would ever update the central tyria map. Where they intentionally reworked some sections of map that had been under construction for quite a long time. For those who are wondering. Lion’s arch wasn’t all it looked. Before the living world series. Lion’s arch was practically just a city with boats attached to structures. Now that it had been re-constructed after the Invasion. That brings up another question; What about other area that had been under constructions for longer period but never actually finished?

Let look at a Western Divinity Dam. located in Queensdale in Human starter zone. . . .

When DS Reset, do we stay in same map?

When DS Reset, do we stay in same map?

No, OP. After the map runs it courses for two hours. It’ll go into ‘Shutdown’ mode. Depending on results of the map. Those who beaten the map before two hours went up will not be knocked off, and teleported at very starting point of the map. Those who failed, are wiped off by map [AkA downed]. Then dies when they enter next map. Do you understand?

Here one person who did that run getting gold and I already see how to improve their time.

http://youtu.be/55ggcWdVzUU

What the player did is that she or he used her stealth skill to get mushroom affect, then teleport back immediately so that she or he have enough time to run getting all masks with the speed boost. That is only way of getting gold. . And of course you need to teleport for that to work. >.<

I certainly agree with you. Gold should be really hard. But I’ve spent at least an hour on the Fallen Masks one now and still can only get to 19 max. I just think they need to be better balanced. They need to factor in the animation times a little more, but I donno, I’m prolly just super frustrated right now with them, lol. Cheers.

If you watched the Guild Chat where they talked about the Fallen Masks one, the Dev specifically said the Mask spawn in a “random” rotation of which there are 3, so keep trying it and watching the patterns. Eventually you’ll figure out which rotation has spawned and then you’ll be able to tell which mushrooms go where, he also said some of them aren’t straight forward and the sequence to get them will take time to figure out.

I begs to differ. The highest I got was 23th. However I lacked enough time to acquire 24th as it seem that the entire thing is practically based on timing everything. Rotation everything. The developers are expecting you to be very inhumane and have sudden reaction speed to immediately acquire the point in which you won’t able to. It seen very complicated, and alot of players are lacking time. . .

That being said.
10 for bronze. 15 for silvers. . .Suddenly 25 for gold. That’s a leap there.

Arenanet, When will you sincerely fix the crash issues?
Sometime when a player manages to reach the very end of Dragon’s stand. Finally facing the ultimate final boss of Dragon’s stand meta event. Almost done. . .

Newsflakittenhe box of white doom appears.
This box, crash your clients. This box, take your progress and throw it out the window. This box, crush your hopes and dreams. This box, make you scream at top of your lungs.

This expansion is out for nearly over two weeks now. While there is certainly improvements toward fixing stories, and repairing the events. I hadn’t felt any improvement toward reducing, or eliminating the causes of crashes that is causing players to lose their progression – nearly immediately. Some players were able to save their progress JUST on time to be rewarded by pure luck.

. . .Most of the time, they were rewarded with a spit on by a white box.

Seriously, Arenanet. Don’t make your community create another thousand threads about players complaining on crashes. This kind of situation is just irritating players who were doing so much work. . That they just got slapped across the face.

bumping for attention on as how to get this +1

Time to unfortunately put this to rest.

My map was able to achieve tier 4. Which was enough to give us a bladed chest box. I have 200% participation. When nightfall. . .
I didn’t get the box. They didn’t give me the box at all. It was unfortunate.

Eir [SPOILER]

Eir’s death was nothing but cheap character development for Braham. ArenaNet killed a character we love just to develop a character we hate.

Uh. . . Brahman isn’t hated. Despite your view. You don’t speak for the entire audience.
While Arenanet may had killed off a beloved character of Destiny’s edge. They decided to this to reveal the brutality of how far writers can go. To destroy your feelings without very little care for their remorse. Six. They’ll even go further to simply make you watch Rytlock get himself impaled by Jormag’s claw. Then being tossed into the ocean to freeze him as he slowly die!

The power goes to the writers. The readers are weak, where the writers are omnipotent. They made you, Pact commander, to allow you to realize that Tyria have issues connecting to real world; Where War will never change. Death is major factor. While it is saddening to see a death of Eir. You cannot skip the fact that writers did this careful step to allow you to realize that Guild wars 2 wanted to force you into reality that you’re at war. Death is common. You’ll alway lose someone you loved dearly. Eir is first to go. Soon other will follow if writers decide to perish them.

Guild war 2 should have a D/C-counter feature, What do I mean, Well…
- In the worst case scenario, Where you’re doing an event, And you are fighting a World event boss, It’s about 1/4 Health down, Then suddenly, BAM.
The worst nightmare have came, Disconnection.

Finding yourself freaking out, and after a few minute later, You reloged back in, Only to find the boss. DEAD, No awards for injuring the boss just because of the nightmare, Disconnection.

This also get annoying, when you D/C in middle of the story, and was forced to restart over again, only to require more time, This is must-have for GW2, if players who have problem, and only finds themself D/C, having to do thing over, and over.
It’s a nightmare, GW2 need to do something about this.
