Here is an example of graphics glitches I have to deal with in Guild Wars 2 on a daily basis:

Do any of you have tips on how to resolve this? Here are the details. This happens often when I zone into an area. It can often take 5 mins for the concept art loading screen to disappear and then another 10 minutes for all graphics to load. After this is done all is fine and dandy, until I go to another zone. Obviously my first thought would be that my internet connection is to blame.
I’ve tested my xfinity connection on a few speedtest sites and I ordinarily get an average of 57 mbps down and 10 mbps up. The thing I notice, however, is that the graph displayed on speedtest.net will often have a long period of high bandwidth but then will drop to 0 for about 10 seconds. It looks like this:
/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\____/¯¯
That being said, it baffles me that a 10 second net delay on occasion can cause a zone to load for 10 minutes+. I have given the ISP a call a few times and needless to say it, but they deny anything is wrong with my connection and tell me to reboot my computer, modem, etc and call back.
Second part of this lengthy story (my apologies) is that I vaguely recall this beginning around the time I got an Nvidia GTX 660. I gleefully upped my graphics settings and went on my way, but this lag began poking its ugly head into my life and I decided to just deal with it. I wonder now, however, if this may have something to do with the graphics card. I keep the drivers completely up-to-date whenever anything new comes up on my alerts. Could the problem possibly lie in an issue with not enough Watts in my power supply, though? There’s no noticeable difference in performance in single-player offline games like Batman: Arkham Origins and others, so I may just be wasting my time worrying about the card.
Lastly, do I need to put the game on an SSD to help with loads? I know the game should run fine on an ordinary HDD, but taking into account my ISP issue, would an SSD circumvent some of the loading issues somehow?
kitten kitten kitten kitten, and a kitten kitten kitten! I don’t know what we’re yelling about?!
Some kid whos crying over a pointless thing that they brought up and were proving him wrong
I guess you missed the reference .
I read all the talk of JQ having it in the bag last week and held back my “never underestimate the Gate!” comments. I guess time will tell, but I’ve never once lost faith in BG no matter how many guilds come and go.

Welp, back to Dota it seems. Was fun for a while but this ship has nobody competent at the helm.
BYE!
they apparently changed my original “username” to my e-mail address.
I feel like this e-mail address as your username thing is the sole reason for so many hacked accounts, and yet they’re not okay with us using an alias username. It’s very easy for people to get ahold of someone’s e-mail address and attempt hacking the e-mail and the GW2 account. strange thought processes at arenanet.
Is something wrong with the support site today? I was in the middle of a dialogue with a support rep and suddenly my login and password stopped working. I tried the Reset Password tool, but no e-mail ever came to me. Is this a know outage?
I would think it’d be neat to have epic multi-part dynamic events a la Rift in game in the future, but for now just simply being able to find the current events will suffice.
I very much agree with the norn tattoo comment Henge. I very much like all the choices you can have, but if you make a thief or ranger you’re guaranteed to have 1 or 2 choices that actually show the tats. It’s a real shame.
Simply put, trying to find a running event in a zone can be a pain while wandering. People spam in map chat a lot of the time for whether events are happening or not. Sure, the social aspect of communicating with other players is intentional, but there’s often no response to queries and events sit idle for hours, especially in zones that are secluded. I do like the NPCs that run up to people, but they can’t always be relied on when you’re in a zone trying to find an event. If they just extended the radius of detecting these events a lot more then it’d attract more people to them. Dynamic events were intended to be the real “questing” in this game, but it seems like hearts are a lot simpler to locate than events and that distracts people from the true love of the game.
I actually agree quite a bit, but it can get really weird in the community if it becomes a repetitive thing. In some of those f2p MMOs out there people wait until you get those “double gems” weekends and then buy up a lot; so many sometimes they’re paying for a full year for 2 sub MMO accounts. then the funny thing is, if they don’t offer it for a month or two, the forums suddenly turn into headlines such as “it’s veteran’s day!! WHERE’S MY DOUBLE GEMS?!!” You can guess how it rapidly turns into a QQ fest.
I customized my norn female ranger with some cool looking tattoos and most of the medium armor covers all of it up. It’s kind of upsetting. I only slightly like the HotW, Krytan, and T3 cultural for her.
it would be 6 PM central.
that’s what WvW is for. it’s frustrating sometimes to run around solo in that place, but it’s doable if you can just get over the fact that you’re going to get tore up by mobs of people often.
I’d hope that they planned ahead and made the final event instance a scaled up and down instance a la WvW maps. I guess we’ll see soon.

I ran around with my level 35 Necro in WvW and after a few hours I had 36 honor badges. this was last Friday before any of the recent updates. I haven’t payed attention to the tooltips much and whether they’re bugged, but I think I’m getting lucky with how I’m playing or something.
I know Zhaitan is the “smallest” of the Elder Dragons, but I’m still trying to figure how something that size can rise a continent roughly 100,000 times larger than it.
I re-opened a ticket of mine so I can hopefully buy gems again. 120902-002922. Any word on when they can fix this permanently instead of these 48 hour lifts?
I use a name that I know was already taken in GW1, so the only ones in use in GW2 are ones that were reserved by GW1 players (or current GW2 players obviously).
The WvW map is quite diverse and beautiful to explore and there are skill points and other things available in it. Chances are you can do most of it without running into any enemies. The biggest problem is the spots you need to get to that are controlled by the other sides. With the matchups changing every day, it should be doable, but once they become 2 weeks it’ll most certainly become difficult for people to rush through world completions like they did.
Just imagine how it’d be for someone who’s spent years and years playing GW1 only for their community to probably drop in active players by like 75% overnight and then how abandoned they’d feel. HoM is for those long-term GW vets that deserve rewards for the hard work of keeping their community going strong.
In a few other f2p games I played the bags and banks were never even permanent for the cash shop currency. You could unlock 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, etc and it was really expensive.
… okay, good bye!
well, I came here for other players’ speculations on the matter since I didn’t want to waste support’s time any further, since it was essentially resolved. anyway, the ticket number was 120902-002922. hopefully that’ll at least save you a few minutes from having to do any searching around.
done and done. thanks Gaile!
They gave me a 48 hour lift after I posted my ticket number in some “merged” gem thread I found in a search. Did you already add to that thread? I can dig it up for you if not.
I’m really wondering what this “login attempt” e-mail means. I got one of them saying someone attempted to login from Beijing, but what I don’t get is: did they get my username and password correct but their location was wrong so it was denied or did they just try guessing my password and get it wrong? I did change my GW2 password already, but I admit that I used that password on other site, but ONLY on sites I trusted to be secure like the bank and the electric company. Obviously, if they’ve got my password now, it’d be very smart for me to change those. If it was just a failed attempt at guessing my password, however, I might just let it slide.
it wasn’t a 9 hour ticket guys, I assure you of that. it was 9 hours since they got the first reply to the ticket about the issue being fixed.
My ticket was resolved a couple days ago. It took them a bit, but I’m glad it’s taken care of. Just be patient guys.
and I’ll just put this in here as well: I’m very happy they got back to me on my support ticket and I’m 100% grateful. my only concern is that I take action against what might’ve been the cause and that closing statement left me wondering.
I got a message from support regarding how my credit cards were all getting declined. They lifted it for 48 hours so I could make my purchase, but then I asked if making the purchase would make my credit card work permanently. Their reply was: “I am only able to suggest that you try using a different computer to make your purchases.” What does this mean? Are they trying to say it seems like my computer was hacked? The machine’s only about a month old and the very first thing I did was removed all the “support” software from dell that gives them remote access, etc then replaced McAfee with Comodo Internet Security. I feel pretty confident my computer is fine. Does anyone know what I’m missing here? Maybe I’m getting the wrong idea of the implication from this support guy’s vague statement.
The first message I received said “Your purchase attempts triggered one or more of our systems that is meant to detect and prevent fraud.” Admittedly, I tried buying gems 2 times a day for several days with 2 CC’s and a verified PayPal account, but I was only doing it because I hoped that they had fixed the “glitch” and I just hadn’t been notified about it yet. The thing is it never worked on the very first try, so I can’t imagine that really being the issue.
I’ve been having the same problem as everyone else on this thread. My ticket I submitted on 9/1/2012 is 120902-002922
