Thanks for all the responses, personality quirks were omitted because I didn’t think it was important. (I don’t RP much anyway) I gave my Mesmer another whirl today and I remembered why I played her so much. (It also helped that I found out that she actually held all my ascended trinkets which I thought I lost haha) Once again thanks for all the responses, here’s a little image of the fun I had today.
Hello I’m DonYawnful and I have a serious problem, I am an altoholic and it’s been bothering me quiet a bit lately. I started playing the game back during launch and have acrued many level 80 characters and a small group amount of low levels I’m currently sitting at 9 characters of which 7 are level 80. The goal is to start focussing on one character and work towards making it my “main”. As in most time played, use others for silly stuff or WvW and PvP. The thing is I have a real hard time choosing and a hard time sticking to my guns. This is where you guys come in.
I’d like you to tell me your personal opinion on who, of the characters i’ll list at the end of this post, I should main. Help on sticking to a main is also something I’d like to get! So here’s the list of characters and interesting tidbits about them.
Morga Whiteraven – 80 Guardian – My freshest level 80 (second guardian).
Lotus Consilida – 33 Thief – Don’t like thief that much tbh.
Amalia Whiteraven – 22 Elementalist – Still haven’t gotten the hang of this proffesion.
Dalla Whiteraven – 80 Mesmer – Used this gal the most, most time played.
Sif Whiteraven – 80 Engineer – 98% map completion, doesn’t get accepted in dungeons.
Blackberry Salad – 80 Ranger – My first level 80, has undergone many transformations.
Xanzza of Statics – 80 Guardian – My second 80 and first guardian. Femsura
Lina Greyborn – 80 Warrior – Master of war and cupcakes
Don Yawnful – 80 Necromancer – My namesake but I really picked the wrong race (asura)
I’m looking forward to your replies and help! (Please don’t ask why I have two guardians it’s a long story)
That was the whole point of tribulation, Trial and Error.
Gem store heavy set. Primeval if I’m correct.
Condition Engineer, no blobs spawned surprisingly.
After fumbling with my engineer I decided to give the gauntlet a try with my guardian. It instantly slapped me with the final boss. This is a good thing imo.
Is it intended that the illusions and spheres spawn after phase 1? I find it hard to believe as it makes the fight way too difficult, mind you I enjoy the challenge but as an engineer I get no chance to attack her at all during phase 2. Dodging is all I seem to do, got her to 20% once but I managed to dodge right into an illusion.
Then this happened the next round…
PvP leaderboards!
What about for the more pve inclined? :L
Fractals. Higher levels and whatnot.
Hello Engineer forum, I’ve been wondering. I just hit level 80 on my lovely Norn Engineer and adapted a HGH rifle/bomb build for might/vuln stacking. It’s working lovely but I’m curious what other kinds of builds are good to run, possible with links please. I’m a bit swamped with all the possibilities the Engineer has to offer.
I’d love to get some input. The build I’m currently using is 25/15/0/30/0 moreso for the bombs/mine and elixers then the rifle itself.
Here’s a picture of a boar holding a kite!
This happened with iron ore a while ago. Just a bug.
I’m somewhat saddened that they made “Southsun Survival” closer to the knockoff Hunger Games than “Hunger Royale” which was closer to Battle Royale.
Guns + Originality >> Bows + This Generation’s Twilight
But they are both from the same generation.
Trying to immitate the generic female nightmare court courtier but I’m having trouble picking the right options. Anybody able to help me? Here’s a little picture so you know how they look.
Any help regarding the options is helpfull. The hair and face is a no brainer it’s just the skin colour and hair colour, together with the pattern (probably none) and glow (probably basic red?)
Why not a Norn engineer? They are rare and scream intimidation. Hiding is a bit harder, but who wants to play like a cowardly thief anyway?
I run all three paths almost daily. I was always under the impression that this is the easiest dungeon next to CoF. Even moreso with the nerf to Subject Alpha a while back.
I love my Snu-Snu, never take it away from me!
I really like this game, I’m not much of a forum poster however. This is in my opinion the best true MMO out there right now, it has a truckload of decent to good content and the replayability is there. The only problem I have is that a lot of the stuff that do get put in is either temporary or not to my liking. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
That being said it’s still my favorite MMO and I like it as much, if not even more as I liked GW1.
I have 8 characters, one of every proffesion. 2 Norn, 2 Asura, 2 Humans, 1 Charr and 1 Sylvari. I have 5 at level 80 (Ranger/Necromancer/Guardian/Mesmer/Warrior in that order) and i’m in the proces of leveling the other three.
Altitis is a serious condition!
A little tip for people, there’s actually upgrades for the pick up skills. Keep it and continue picking up the bags. The lightning for example can be upgraded to a map wide skill that effects everybody. This only goes for the 3 skills after your heal.
Managed to get first on my first race, everything after that has been a disaster!
edit Absolutely love it though!
I got 3 random copper gathering tools, 4 boosters, 1 leather bag, 1 gold, 1 laurel, 1 sip of liquid karma and a repair canister, bank express and black lion express.
So maybe it is semi randomized?
Tyxxus sounds more like an asura name. Bloodmane is a bit too generic, is he blood legion? Anywhoo 6/10 could be better.
My Charr is Slaugh Burntfur, he’s named after a prominant flame legion shaman, the title burntfur he got from his warband. He’s an elementalist who’s terrible with fire. Still working on the backstory.
I am a mesmer so it was kind of easy to do. Drop a portal entrance at the barrels and let 3 people including yourself run with the barrels to the wall. Once you are there drop the second portal entrance. (during this time numbers 4 and 5 are distracting the bandits) They will then pick up a barrel and go through the portal. Everybody then drops their bombs at the same time, voila you have now destroyed the wall.
Zero effort required.
We’ve already got one of these threads: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/In-my-opinion-this-game-requires-too-much-grind/first
Just a heads up, a Mod might merge you with it.
The problem is, to generate revenue, the game needs players playing it. Having epic content with no grind will only last as long. That’s why ‘grind’ is used.
I mean, you say put Hearts in, but what happens after the Hearts are done? And the faction you suggested? If you don’t want ‘grind’, then you’re going to max it out quite quickly. Anything more than a month and people accuse it of being a ‘grind’.
TL;DR – Content takes time to get produced, that’s why ‘grind’ is used.
As for dungeons: That’s 180 tokes a day for all 3 paths (that’s not including the tokens you get in bags, which tends to bring it up to about 70 tokens a run). An entire set of armour costs 1380. So if:
- you do all 3 paths a day, it takes about 7 days
- If you do one run a day, it takes about 23 days
I’d say that’s pretty reasonable, to be fair.
On top of that, if you have another level 80 and enough time on your hands. (Like me right now, end of a college period) You can wait 2 hours after running all three paths of a dungeon then run the same dungeon on your other character for full rewards. Cuts the grind severely.
For people that have trouble dodging Alpha’s frost attacks in path 2 and 3, count to 2 inside your head then dodge. This should give you enough evasion frames to dodge the attack completely. Do note that this works best if you are all stacked ontop of mister Alpha.
Hello gents and gentleladies. I have so far only run around with full PVT gear on my guardian, which is fine. However I would like to try out something new something more offense or more supportish. Builds i’ll still have to look into but the first thing I want to do is get a set of armour that is vastly different from the one i’m using now. Weapons would also need to be changed but whatever.
I was thinking of going full knights for the power precision and toughness. Would it be wise to use vitality accesories with that? Or are there other armour sets you gents would suggest? Thanks a lot in advance.
Dalla Whiteraven 20 minutes after hitting level 80. Had enough tokens to get her a full zerker set. Now to grind fractals and AC/CoF for moneys so I can work on getting some cool looking weapons.
The Asura:Everything Else ratio being displayed here is disheartening .__.
Don’t worry 2 out of my 3 level 80’s are Asura.
Slowly working my way towards this goal. I’m currently done with a Guardian/Ranger/Necromancer and working on a Warrior and Mesmer now. Not entirely sure if i’ll have the breath to also get the other 3 classes to 80 after that, but that’s stuff for later.
Decided to get a Rampagers set next to my PVT set for now. I’ll be slowly working towards a full Prec-Tough-Cond set with those 2 sets. Rampagers for full blown damage and PVT for tankyness. Jewels will stay the same across the board which is Knights.
Thanks for the links i’ll look into them for trait set-ups.
I’ve just hit 80 on my Necromancer and bought PVT AC armour just so I could do dungeons better. I’m decked out in that and Knight’s gear right now just so I can atleast stay alive and do damage, however the power build is kind of meh in my opinion and I wish to change to something else.
I’ve looked into getting a condition based build going, however I have no clue which armour set to get. TA/ARAH armour is out of the question since my guild hates TA and is mostly bad at ARAH. Khilbron’s would be an option but that is expensive as hell.
Any other sets I could consider? What builds are generally used? I’ve done research but I get a lot of mixed messages from this class. Thanks in advance!
file attached for no good reason
I’m still learning how to properly utilize this class, however I must say that there are a plethora of bugs and general annoyances that can make even the most avid Necro fanboy pull their hairs out.
Having said that I’ve recently rediscovered the class and I’m absolutely loving it again. Especially the conditionmancer (I like seeing a kittenton of numbers fly off the screen no matter how small they are) I understand the complaints and I hope we get some fixes soon, especially my ADHD Minions need some work.
I’m kind of miffed, I was under the impression that combining 4 endless tonics gave you the toymaker’s tonic, too bad that isn’t freaking true. I combined my 4 tonics and got the one I didnt have. You can’t fathom how mad I am right now both at myself and at the sheer fact that people outright lie on these forums and others.
Ugh, filed a complaint ingame hope they can give me a refund :/ I want my toy soldier tonic back…
Attended/NoLoot
Got my mail the other day!
Just wanted to put out a big thank you, reason being that I finally received the fabled karka box that was rewarded after killing the ancient karka during last months one off event. Took some time but you kept true to your word on this one.
My guardian is super happy with her new Droknar’s Hammer and my Engineer is really happy to actually get a good gun for once (Brandt)
Mad kudos and hopefully Wintersday will be a blast!
Skipping Stones. Such an amazing new JP. Took me a few tries but once you get through the first hurdle it gets easier. Also grants acces to a secret little island with a small chest.
Just hit me. All my guilds seem to be gone and I can’t talk in guild chat or party chat.
Did it in about 20 tries with my Sylvari Ranger no speed boosts. Thrilling and rewarding. (Got exotic MF slippers )
Blackberry Salad my level 80 ranger. She’s sporting her fancy smancy set. (still needs a few things)
My Sylvari Ranger. Love her to bits her name is Blackberry Salad and she glows pink in the dark. That was in her 20’s she’s level 60 now.
