Wow, this really took off while I wasn’t paying attention. XD So interesting to read! If anyone cares to know some context, my human girlie was an orphan whose first real friend and parental figure was a Charr. The two of them were rather reclusive, which resulted in girlie having zero meaningful contact with humans from childhood until later teen years. Said Charr was an obsessive historian of the Ascalon bickerings, and girlie inherited that interest, along with a partiality towards the Charr. When it comes to social interactions, she feels more like a Charr than a human.

So basically she was brought up as a charr. I kinda like that idea.
Honestly though, to me that would mean that love doesn’t matter much to her, as the mainstream charr society seems to not care about romantic involvement. Relationships appear to mostly be one-time things, and sex is primarily for the purpose of churning out more soldiers for the Legions. Charr don’t really seem to understand love the way humans do. I get the feeling charr “love” is closer to a strong sense of mutual respect for each others’ strength and skill than romance.

But then, I guess there are deviants everywhere. Just bear in mind that the vast majority of humans and charr would still consider the pairing disgusting. Imagine homosexuality as viewed by most people a few decades ago. Alan Turing downright received a court sentence. I doubt charr/human relationships would garner anything that extreme, because this is still a game run by ANet and NCSoft and doesn’t come with a Mature ESRB rating, but still, there’d probably be some social ostracising from a lot of people.

Sex would also probably be problematic.

ANet has been very efficient at killing hype.
No one I know is hyped anymore.

Dude, your thread title is literally telling us to do something.
If you didn’t want to convey a message, you wouldn’t have made a post on the forum in the first place, so don’t give me that rubbish.

The expansion somehow costs more than the base game, but it can’t possibly have more content than the base game. From what ANet has told us (not a whole lot, mind), and from what we have seen, HoT is worth 30 euros at most – and that’s a stretch already.

Moreover, they’ve very blatantly tried to kitten everyone over by changing the FAQ in the dead of night, resulting in a lot of people purchasing the base game in advance to prepare for the HoT prepurchase, only to find that it’s now a part of the prepurchase.

It’s scummy. It really is.

The funny thing is that it’s now impossible to buy GW2 without also getting HoT.

You can’t even get the base game as a free standalone. Know why?

Because the base game will still get most of the content advertised as part of HoT.
All you get for buying HoT is a new area, a new class and maybe a boss fight at some point.

BEFORE: Buy the base game before you buy the expansion.
NOW: The expansion includes the base game.

The worst part is that up until E3, ANet literally stated that you NEEDED to buy the base game in order to play the expansion. Now they’re putting it in for free, despite the fact that a lot of people did what you did and bought the game in advance.

While ANet will probably ignore this, for what it’s worth, I appreciate that you took the time to write this.

Almost all that you listed is actually added to base game for everyone. Pure HoT additions are:
- Revenant
- 9 new specializations
- new area
- new legendaries
- some new skins
- new story to play

The rest you listed is included for every basic GW2 account.
And the problem behind uproar is not about content amount, but the LACK of buying upgrade only, FAW fraud “base game needed to play” (was changed ninjastyle quickly), and lack of any appretiation to veterna players, not even giving tham 1 godkitten mere kittylicious character slot…

How are they going to make legendaries, skins and specs restricted to HoT?

Yup, that’ll do it. I can’t try out the new revenant without canning one of my existing characters.

So to try out one of the major features of the expansion, I need to spend ANOTHER $10, making it $60. (The ability to buy gems is a moot point. That’s just someone ELSE subsidizing that cost for me, that extra $10 is getting spent)

Also, to add on to your math, it’s a more economically sound decision to simply NOT upgrade my account, and get a second one for HoT, giving us FIVE more character slots and keeping our old account as alts for playing base content.
