Dredg.4890

OP hits the nail on the head. This game became absolutely boring, HoT is a joke of an expansion, endgame crafting is unreasonably expensive, the BLTP prices are stupidly high…

And they want to reward us in raids with a legendary armor grind? Ok, what’s after that? another 3 years of playing MMO Barbie Doll where you can whack loot pinatas that look like big scary world bosses for what amounts to garbage rewards? Or do 2 hour metas for slightly less garbage rewards but you have to rely on 200 other people?

Nope, Uninstalling. Have fun with this trainwreck of a game.

I’m actually pretty sad about it too… I loved the first year of vanilla, but then ANET refused to fix what was broken and instead sweep it underneath the Living Story rug.

The end wasn't the end. (SPOILERS)

The plot seemed extremely forced at the end, and I was not at all satisfied with the final confrontation.

Zhaitan’s death was spread over a massive personal story… we had to cut his resources and literally starve him to death. With Mordremoth, the dragon leads us straight to the one plot device that allows us to stab an avatar of his brain. boo.

HoT Difficulty is Great

Dredg.4890

When Vanilla launched, the champs, world bosses and dragons were awesome!

Then we realized how much of a loot pinata they all were. No mechanics, just stand here and auto attack. Sorry Condition specs, you have to try. Jormag was the only exception to this rule.

Then Tequatl got redesigned. Naturally, when you replace a pinata with something that hits back, you’ll get the initial growing pains and insanely dramatic whining. Then, as we learned the fight, the whining lessened, because the dragon was able to be killed consistently.

Then things got boring, because everything was still at a pinata-grade difficulty and dungeons were still being completed with exploits (fix them ffs). Game is boring, people complain again.

So HoT comes out and suddenly, that big scary T-Rex looking thing is literally big and scary. Holy crap, this place is dangerous, even those silly mushroom monsters wreck my kitten! Knockdowns, stuns, stealth, I actually have to pay attention!

And now y’all complain? We’ve been collectively begging for this! We’ve wanted some sort of challenge… don’t make them nerf this experience to WoW level difficulty.

What's Wrong With Being A Healer?

I was a Restoration Druid (Healer) In WoW from Burning Crusade up until the end of Mists of Pandaria Beta. I did all content on hardest difficulty with some great guilds.

After watching the Druid reveal, I’m nothing but excited for the final Beta Weekend; my guild will be attempting the first raid boss and I will proudly be in the backlines as a Druid healer.

In this game more than others, it’s not about watching the little bars, but positioning, attacking and being both pro and retroactive while understanding the fight mechanics enough to mitigate burst damage. But that’s just regular healing, right? In a sense, except for the fact that my specific positioning affects my healing output with every single ability, meaning movement is just as important, It is a refreshing look at healing and will be an exciting experience to function as part of the raid instead of simply its janitor.

Yes it is.

The structure of the dungeons is directly responsible for emergent game play trends. The players are not to blame.

I’ve seen players attempting to glitch a single fight for up to an hour instead of just doing the encounter. Fun fact: we did the encounter properly and it took 1 wipe.

Running slower while in combat removed.

Dredg.4890

So dungeons have been broken for over a year. This is not just the fault of bad structural design, but players also taking advantage of it. Here are my suggestions to fix most all problems.

1. Do not leash mobs.
You know what’s annoying? Running past everything in Arah. You know why? Because there are some mobs with great mechanics. However, nobody, NOBODY will stop to fight trash, and I’ll address that later. Currently, you either know how to run past mobs, or you get kicked or you’re a noob for NOT AVOIDING CONTENT. Let mobs chase players through the entire dungeon. They either face them, or they die. Let content be content in dungeon settings.

2. Bosses should drop LOOT
and I’m not talking about those worthless goodie bags that we just salvage through. Ascended Materials, personalized upgrades, something that makes you feel good about killing the boss. How about a gold per boss to make the attempts worth the repair bill? Make the bosses lucrative and you’ll see players engage them more.

3. Dungeon Complete Daily.
Random dungeon per day, all paths, all bosses, counts towards daily. Fair?

4. Make Trash Meaningful.
No more excessive trash that would make a dungeon 3 hours long. Dungeons should take 30 minutes, tops. Arah maybe 1 hour. Make them drop loot. Every single one of them. I don’t care if i have to salvage every 15 minutes if i know that everything i kill is worthwhile. Make a mass-loot function so i don’t get carpal tunnel spamming F to loot everything.

5. Define the Play Area
So, you know how well AC goes? Let me tell you. Spider Queen is Glitch-fought. Troll is avoided (see #2). Kholer, when engaged, is also glitch-fought. So is Colossus, so is Howling King. Counting bosses for all paths, 8 encounters are glitched and 6 are completely avoided by option. This isn’t unique to AC. You want people to do the bosses? Lock the doors, ring of fire, invisible arena walls. DO NOT LET US OUT until the boss dies. Define the play area for bosses, and we’ll be forced to engage them, and not via glitching spider queen through a freaking pillar.

6. Rampaging. Dragons.
Off topic, but how about The Shatterer trashes Lion’s Arch and won’t stop until we kill him? How about using supply to rebuild our pirate town?

Resetting traits costs all of 3 silver…go kill 5-15 enemies and you paid for your reset typically speaking. All of 3 minutes time tops.
Resetting them in main cities only makes sense from a practical standpoint. Your choices now have meaning and cannot be “covored up” by staying out of combat for a minute while you change things. Even teleporting around…add 6 silver to it and another 30 enemies. Seriously it is not that big of a deal…and no I don’t use a standard build. I worked with the traits till I found one that fit me perfectly.

This. Respeccing is so cheap that it shouldn’t be a problem. SPVP players can select their build for free due to the intended competitive nature of the play format, whereas PVE is a cooperative format, relying more on a core build and ability swapping.

Agreed on the skipping mobs argument.

1. Make mobs have no de-aggro range, make them chase you all over the dungeon.

2. Make all dungeon bosses drop 10 tokens.

3. Emphasize trash as more lucrative – dungeon trash mobs should always drop something.

4. Lock the doors. One thing WoW did right in their dungeons is they forced the combat arena. A boss area should be walled off like the Lornar fight in FOTM.

5. Fix Bugs – I know, ever-ongoing, but there are still plenty of glitches out there that people take advantage of.

Are you serious? running past a mob is a exploit to you? how about just delete all skills but autoattack how fun is that going to be the others are exploits or what?? if you want to kill those mobs that much then do it who is stopping you.

Where did I say that running past a mob is an exploit?

But, to humor your argument, a mesmer porting everyone into the dredge fractal is an exploit to me, while running past kholer in AC is not an exploit, just cowardly.

Ascended Gear - please don't force gear grind

in Suggestions

Posted by: Dredg.4890

Dredg.4890

I don’t get it.

I run beginners and new players through various fractals on the 1-10 tier all the time, they enjoy themselves.

As of now, ascended gear doesn’t affect your ability to complete any other content except harder Fractals, and even then most of the Agony is avoidable, therefore it is theoretically possible to do Fractals without Agony Resist or even Ascended gear post lvl 10.

Although more ascended gear is coming, I have a feeling it will supplement a separate tier of dungeons, the “hardcore” dungeon runners if you will.

The great thing about GW2 is there is no damage meter and no gear inspecting feature. I find this to be great relief because if you’re in my FOTM 20 with 0 AR, that’s just dandy, as long as you’re holding your own.

Dungeon Solo

Dredg.4890

Removes the MMO out of the game. I play this game to play with others. If I wanted to do a dungeon solo, I’d play Zelda.

1- MMO just means a massive number of people online playing in a persistent world, nothing to do with grouping.
2- ok, having dungeon scale from 1-10 people, means you have to do the dungeon solo instead of playing with other people?

1. Massively Multiplayer Online game. Last I checked, multiplayer games were meant to be played with others or against others.

2. If such a scaling mechanic were implemented, what would be the point? Would you get the same loot for doing 1 as you would 10? less of it? more of it? We now run into the problem of finding groups, something we as a community have already developed a workaround for due to the lack of an in-game solution beyond the boundaries of chat channels.

Furthermore, dungeons are tuned specifically for multiplayer fights. The downed mechanic would be worthless, or we’d have to completely scrap it/rework entire bossfights. Can’t do AC path 1 solo, unless Hodgins was removed completely. Bye bye story.

The veiled hope is that the OP wants to farm dungeon quality loot without the hassle of actually doing the dungeon properly.

Not to mention how bad botting would clog up the instance servers.

More Engaging Dragons

in Suggestions

Posted by: Dredg.4890

Dredg.4890

This post will be two parts: outlining problems I personally see with the World Dragons (arguably, a flaunted endgame aspect).

1. The Problems with the Dragons

Its time for ANet to fix the dragons.

What’s wrong with the dragons? Nearly all mechanics can be avoided, turning what could have been great into a loot pinata.

1a. Shatterer – Stand to the left side of his right front claw and auto-attack. Adds don’t matter. The Healing Crystals are the only mechanic that requires attention. Even the Crystal Prisons don’t require any notice.

1b. Tequatl – Ignore any and all adds, auto-attack dragon. Walls don’t matter, claws don’t matter. The only notable mechanic is the various bad spots on the ground.

1c. Jormag – Phase 1 consists of simply standing on the right ledge, auto-attacking the barrier and then smacking a stunned dragon. Adds aren’t much of a problem, even if ignored. Phase 2 is slightly redeeming with pressure put on the golem bombers and the stalagmites, but (at least on my server) this mechanic can be ignored and Jormag can be auto-attacked down.

These are supposed to be the open-world raids that were much flaunted as endgame aspects, but they fail to deliver in the opportunity to provide a challenging and rewarding experience.

2. Suggested Fixes

2a. Shatterer – Make his attacks affect a 360 degree radius instead of simply in front of him. He is arguably the most “open” of the encounters. Force players to be aware of his mechanics.

2b. Tequatl – Have Tequatl’s Fingers spawn within the raid in random locations and make them immune to all damage except the giants’ suicide attack ground AOE. Have them inflict cripple, stun and knockback/down on players. This will encourage players to be aware of more than just their 1 key and their feet.

2c. Jormag – Extend the phase 1 mechanics over the ridge so players are forced to spread out. The Ice Shield is fixed, and goes down rather quickly. Make us work for each shot of our Pact Cannons. In Phase 2, force us to pay more attention to the Golems and the stalagmites. Make them crucial for victory.

I think with these or similar fixes, the dragons will be more engaging and dangerous. I think that if you guys upgrade the loot drops slightly, it would be more rewarding. Perhaps put laurels in the chests?
