If they add another race it would have to be the Tengu. It’s already in their lore and there is evidence that it might have been in the workings once. Tengu is fine but it feels like just another animal race – just another Charr. I’m more likely to play an elfish race but actual elves wouldn’t be added because Guild Wars has their own lore and mobs. People would complain they were copying everyone else if they added elves. Still, if they added dark elves I would play them.
But what I would really like to see is merfolk. Reasoning – it’s not been done in any mmo other than Perfect World and that game… umm lacks. But with GW2 extensive underwater landscapes a mer would fit in well. Of course they would have to have landlegs when they exited the water but that’s okay.
Be nice if we could get some lovely long hairs for both male and fems with a class like mer folk. Also an option to make a few uglier mer folk for variety.
Ah, I have a 1 man guild. I’m not expecting much. Kinda sorry tho that I bought so many points with gold at that influence npc thinking I was going to get all these upgrades. But I’m not mad. Just felt like putting in my 2cents.
Everyone seems to add their 2 cents on what they want for GW2 so here is mine. I would like to see every creature in the bestiary capturable for a Hunter’s Pet.
I’m a role player because I make up stories to go with my characters. But I’m not in the crowd of role players that emote. It’s way cute and I love them for it but I’m just not into communal rp’ing. My OC’s are miinnne alooone.
The non-role players are all those jerks screaming at the rest of us, “Just play the stupid game already!” They couldn’t remember what color their character’s hair is but they could list stats so fast NASA couldn’t keep pace.
1) In EotM a commander took a wrong turn and fell to her death in front of the enemy. We all followed like lemmings. Then the enemy team danced and laughed on our huge pile of corpses. It was very funny to me but that poor commander logged out in shame.
2) I use an Endless Mordrem Thrasher Tonic just for jollies but it really scared a gal. Some of us spend to much time in SW we’re seeing Mordrem around every corner.
3) Speaking of SW; for stupid – the people who run with a chest train on an event map but wont listen when you tell them repeatedly in party that it’s FULL yet they still advertise in LFG for more people to come join.
Why am I getting nothing but troll commanders in edge of the mists lately?
Leading us all around avoiding fights and never taking anything. Fights about only having lvl 80’s. Jumping over gaps on purpose to see how many fall then laughing about it. Asking for money. On and on crappy commanding.
I think we should make a Good List of excellent commanders. No point in making a Bad List (don’t like the term "black"list it has negative connotations) since there are so many bad cmd’ers.
On my list of excellent commanders would be Sarah (can’t remember her last part of name) and that guy that lights up like a lightning bug (can’t remember his name cause I have not seen him in so long). They were awesome commanders.
Wish I didn’t have the bad luck of getting all the jailbaits lately.

It is a positive testament to the gw2 devs in making the most interesting character creation in any mmo I’ve played. Only Aion came in close 2nd but that game, tho pretty, was not pve friendly. Very best char creation award goes to Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen console (non-multiplayer but with online player trading and char swap).
I am pro marriage only if gay marriage is allowed. But NO advantage armor stat benefits to gameplay. I would like to see a wider variety of clothing in this game and wedding attire would rock all.
Also, plz, if this is implemented DO NOT MAKE EXPENSIVE outside of optional wardrobe. I hate games where a marriage license can only be afforded by the rich high levels.
With this game’s coloring system you could really go nuts with bridesmaid’s outfits!
I would however give a stat bonus to all who attended the wedding for like maybe 3hrs. Guild weddings can be a lot of fun in games. I’ve been to a few in Final Fantasy and Mabinogi.
In Mabinogi you can also get adopted by a marriage couple. I’m my niece’s (irl) child (in game) lol.
Okay I still have this problem about every time I log in. I found out now to press “Y” and go Invisible for 2 minutes then press “Y” again and Offline for 2 minutes and that brings guild chat back up. Still wish they would get this fixed. Don’t want make a ticket over this. Doesn’t seem serious enough and I had some serious happen over the last month that made for 3 tickets. All fixed but does any dev even read these forum threads?
I think of this game as a sandy themepark. You are being led you just don’t know it yet, lol. There are definite patterns. The more you play the more you see them.
The transmutation charges along with occasional armor give-aways and SO MANY DYES this mmo has the best in wardrobe possibilities. I wish other games would learn from GW2.
If everything was toggle-able, then you’d see a lot of players simply running around in their underwear all the time, even in combat. I doubt you’d get much more immersion breaking than that.

It is not the “core design” of this game to force solo/family orientated players to do anything they don’t want to do. Where are you coming up with this?
Do you truly think solo players are going to run wildly into the arms of large guilds now because they might miss out on some content? Gee I wonder if there is a reason why forcing people to do things against their will makes them not want to be around. After reading this I don’t think I’ll bother going back to my larger guilds. Since I know now it’s all about forcing me even when I’ve said “no.”
I want the option to shut them off. Yes I like them. No I don’t want the devs to write weather out. It’s nice to have anything immersive. I just want to shut off weather effects when my PC is acting slow.
I’ve been a casual player coming and going from GW2 as I get caught up in various single player console games. I just came back after a long hiatus. I thought would be nifty to try a mesmer for a bit. So this new guild in chat is asking for help forming up and I’m like okay np. Then I’m on this mesmer goofing around with weapon skins and I get a PM saying, “Just a reminder, full representation is required by our guild. Have a nice day.” This from my main guild on my main character.
OMG what?!? I don’t think I can politely express how offended I am atm so I’m just going to quit here.
How do you peeps feel about guilds pushing you to represent them on all your characters?
I turned off whisper a long time ago do to guild rep spam.
You know the RMT’s will be yelling in map chat if they can’t whisper. Whisper is kinda useless anyway. Just shut it off. The RMT’s will never know. Hopefully it will cut down on their use of map chat.
Also as one who comes from hundreds of ftp games and was once their avid supporter – do plz keep reporting these RMT’s. It does discourage them.
BUT NOTHING DISCOURAGES AN RMT MORE THAN MAKING NO MONEY – DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM RMT’s!
Are we arguing that all size guilds’ advancements, no matter the size, should not be gated behind HoT achievements?
Or are we asking Anet to define what they believe a guild is and within that definition how many members constitute a guild?
I personally think 1 member constitutes a guild because it takes 1 member to make a guild. In other games you have to get the signature of 10 people to even create a guild charter. I am a member of a 1 man guild and I would be more than happy to be presented with solo activities that advanced my 1 man guild. I would not mind if they locked these behind HoT even tho I don’t have the expansion and if it is never sold over the counter at Walmart/GameStop etc I might never get HoT (matter of personal principle – I pay cashiers to have a job so they don’t come to my door bumming for money for college).
I bought the original game from Gamestop and I want to buy the expansion from Gamestop. I like to get up from my PC and stretch my legs by going OUTDOORS some times. You know that place, it’s up your mom’s staircase that leaves her basement.
When try to use auction house got a popup telling me my internet or firewall was getting in the way of the game’s auction house. Umm, I’ve played this game for a year now with no problems with my internet connection or firewall. Internet working perfectly. Firewall the same no special updates of late.
I can’t use the auction house in game even tho everything else works just fine.
I don’t do story anymore but if you shut off sound (and I do) for talk it also shuts it off for cutscenes. Can be a real pain because you can’t pause the cutscene to turn your vocals back on. At least that was the way it was long ago when I bothered with GW2 story (I stopped because it doesn’t pay and I’m all about the looty).
This is not the only game that makes the mistake of repeated voice use on a character you will be using repeatedly. Dragon’s Dogma a great game but exactly the same as GW2 where the voice volume turns down cutscene volume as well. Then there was Skyrim with one male voice actor for all npc’s….
Every time I get in these situations I just keep repeating to myself, “be thankful they didn’t hire Gilbert Gottfried.”
Words have to many meanings so no I will not sign on to this. Also everyone has moods and gets grumpy. Stuff gets said. Try not to assume the worst in people. They might have an off day. Just move on if you feel yourself getting mad. Most times it’s just a misunderstanding.
A forum troll will show it’s stripes by always acting negative in a way that will get people worked up. It’s the moderator’s job to warn the troll. For users best to note the person’s name and just ignore their threads/comments.
If you want a self improvement goal try saying something nice to one person a day. If they don’t respond in kind just move on.
Simple math. Can’t make expansions when you can’t pay the devs.
Just to point simpler math:
GW1 = buy2play = expansions & updates
and both superior to the GW2 updates in my humble opinion. If anything, GW2 bussiness model screams for bigger cash injections, so expansions would be logical. But as always – I don’t see whole picture, maybe I’m wrong and Anet is right. I just wonder why I don’t play anymore… (still read forums XD)
Game development is more complex & competitive now. This isn’t the same market when GW1 launched. GW2 has some powerful pluses but OP is right about needing to compete for the public’s eye. An expansion with real housing would be nice.
I’ll tell you one thing GW2 has done right – I can run this game on a slow crappy PC. That’s a high compliment! Most can’t put a 3k gaming PC together. I might be able to afford Alienware in a year or two but for now GW2 is the only recent game I’m able to run on my Windows Vista.

There’s glitches a plenty to be found which you can joyfully exploit for YouTube entertainments! I just got done dancing on an invisible mountain in SW with a whole lot of players. Sadly I didn’t think to have my vid stuff running and pics don’t really show the fun.
I hate Steam. I hate what they did with Skyrim for PC. I don’t want a world where I cannot shop at GameStop. I like those mall employees. I like seeing Americans have a job. I don’t like monopolies. Their Steam Fortress and reduced prices seduced you. You don’t see them as a mega corp taking over and making citizens jobless.
Seriously if something is way valuable there should be a popup saying, “Are you really really really sure you want to turn this into material?” I assume there isn’t.
