Yes I hate the new “bathed in light” visuals. Has Anet chimed in on any threads (searched but didn’t find) yet?

UPDATE: I went into graphic settings and tweaked everything. When I got to Shaders (set to High) I set it to Med and the weird glow went away. At least enough to where I can tolerate it now. When I set it back to High, the glow came back. So MED it is for now until it’s corrected.

Abyss Dye

Never found or created Abyss thanks to my nemesis (since I started mmos in 2004) RNG. However, I did find a white off a barracuda in the Human starting area pond near the hungry bears and infamous Troll my first week. Even us RNG haters get “lucky” once in a blue moon. Oh, and Midnight Fire is my dye of choice now.

Utility skill in the Elite skill slot.

I’m all for being ‘empowered’ not over-powered. It’s not like I’m asking for more skills on the hot-bar or to be able to add another bar (which would be quite awesome for food/pots btw). Just a little flexibility on the skills I already possess. They can even make it so passives are not useable or maybe passives are the only skill other than Elite skills useable in that slot. They can also make it so that functionality is not useable in pvp. All I know is, on some of my characters, I rarely use that Elite skill unless I’m in a group taking down a boss/Champ. I don’t do pvp and I solo almost exclusively. It sure would be nice to have that extra condition wipe when soloing multiple monsters that each have a condition attack. (Dominion Killing Zone in Kessex Hills anyone?)

I would like to have the option of using another utility skill in the #10 Elite Skill slot on the skill bar. Elite skills are nice but the cool downs are kitten-ing annoying. I would so love to be able to slot a passive or something else actually useful (condition wipe anyone?) since I solo most of the time. Useful= reasonable CD.

Thanks for an awesome game Anet.

last patch cant load game now

I got a patch notification around 9:35 am PST and logged out of the game. Restarted, then waited for the game to update. After update I clicked logon>play like I always did after a patch. Got to the character selection screen where my necro was displayed (last character I was on before logging out). After clicking play/start the game just clocked for 5 minutes. I thought it unusual so I tabbed out and killed the game via task manager. (To make sure there were no other instances of the game running simultaneously) Without rebooting, I started the game and repeated the steps to get back into the game and got the clocking again. Killed the game in Task Manager and rebooted my system. After reboot, I was able to actually load into the game. This is the first time ever after a patch I have had this issue. It is all good now that I am back in but a little disconcerting nonetheless.

[January] Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

Heavy Armor Skirts Ballooning on Norn Female
race: Norn
Sex: Female
Class: Guardian

There is an issue with some Heavy Armor skirts that balloon out from the Norn female model. I show two armor shirts on a Norn Female and how the skirts should look on a female Human for comparison. I really want the Seraph-Issue Greaves of Divinity style[norn_female_armor_bug4.jpg and human_fem_002.jpg] to work more than anything because I think it’s such a classic look.

Armors shown:
Strong Banded Legs
Rare Heavy Leg Armor
req lvl 80

Seraph-Issue Greaves of Divinity
Masterwork Heavy Leg Armor
req lvl 22

Thanks for such a great game!

Making "rare" dye and I get an uncommon...

in Crafting

Posted by: Dwarfstar.4928

Dwarfstar.4928

I just crafted 10 assorted unidentified rare dyes — mostly yellows and greys — that cost a significant amount of karma for the mats (not to mention ages to collect the rest of the mats). Not a single one of them yielded a rare dye and only three of them yielded an uncommon. Granted, I might be the unluckiest person alive, but…0-for-10?!!!

Seriously, if the dyes are each going to require such a large quantity of mats to craft they should have a high percentage chance of yielding a rare dye, a smaller chance of yielding an uncommon, and a low chance of yielding a common (something like 65%/25%/10% respectively)…or else drastically reduce the number of mats required to craft them.

I agree with everything you posted there. I don’t get why crafting has to be a mini-game. I would be satisfied with an increase in mats (even as insane as they are now) just to be able to craft exactly what I want and not have to depend on some stupid RNG (Random Number Generator). And because of the RNG the rare dye prices on the AH like abyss just keep getting higher and higher with no end in sight. Good for ANET and the few people who the RNG favors (the RNG hates me) but bad for everyone else. I really love crafting but please take the gambling/guessing/hoping/praying out of it.

I thought I would go crazy because since the betas my video card would run really hot in this game and only this game. Granted it’s an older card (ATI Geforce 5870 be), but it can run this game on max settings with AA and without sweating on my stock i7 930 @2.8ghz. However, I noticed that my card was running very hot even in my Antec 902 with 5 fans and great flow. Well, today I was tweaking my in-game graphics settings and noticed a setting called ‘Frame Limiter’ and thought..“hmm lets see what this will do at 30 fps since it was set to unlimited”. I prepared myself for the worst as far as in-game quality but after I set it and went in game I noticed my 5870 was cool and QUIET! Pegged at 30 fps and with no perceptible lag I was floored! I’m a happy gamer. Not sure why I didn’t notice this setting sooner. Woot!

I’m indifferent to mounts in this game. I loved collecting them in LotRO, however. IMHO, if they introduced mounts in this game it would have to be conditional. For instance: Once you buy a mount, you would be able to ride it in a given zone only after you have unlocked all the way points in that zone. If you have NOT unlocked ALL the waypoints, then you would only be able to ‘walk’ (lead by it’s reins) through the zone with it. In this way the mount would still be useful as extra storage until you’ve unlocked all the way points. That would be a nice compromise. Also, the mounts could only be obtained from the shop for say $10-$20 depending on the creature ( or from a special vendor) at extravagant cost to Karma.

That makes very little sense. What would be the reasoning behind stopping people from actually riding a mount in a zone when they haven’t unlocked ALL of the waypoints in that zone? What you are suggesting is just to make the situation cumbersome for people for no good reason.

Yes, someone who has a mount could possibly get to the waypoints and unlock them before someone who hasn’t got a mount. But so what? After that, said same person who doesn’t have a mount will undoubtedly use the WP system. Thus getting to where they want to go faster than the person who rides their mount to get there.

So if the justification for such a suggestion is centred around creating some kind of “balance” or “fairness”, it already exists.

Incidentally, have you tried to get all the waypoints in places like the zones in Orr? It’s not possible to do that solo.

Is this not a “suggestion” area? I thought I was making a suggestion not debating anything. LOL Calm the kitten down. =)

My 2 Karma Points:

  • If I leave the game in invisible status, I’d like the game to remember when logging back in.
  • I’d like my characters to look the same in character select as they do in game. Especially ones in town clothes/costumes that are naked in character select.
  • Right click-Target = Bad. Need a toggle please. Scenario during combat: “Where the h*** is my mouse cursor? OH..there it is waaaaay over there suddenly parked on the left side of my screen?!?!?”
  • Right click names in mail to block gold spammers. Some of those names are hard to read. (i.e IlIlIl <- ililil )
  • More emotes. /kiss =)
  • More outfits in the shop! (especially short/full length dresses)
  • Less ‘in-effective’ food recipes (i.e. Pigs Feet=2% chance to apply break-wind emote if your standing on your head stacking marbles) <-exaggerated
  • Skill bar for consumables.
  • Move the weapon swapping toggle a little further away from the skill bar. Us clickers stink as it is and it’s making us stink more when we inadvertently swap weapons at a critical time.
  • Thank You!
