Major auto-attack aftercast bug

When you activate the second and third skill of any auto-attack chain it will trigger a very long aftercast-like halt to the auto chain.

Pretty much all weapons with auto-attack chains suffer from this.

You can most easily reproduce this with the third skill as it has a longer cast time than the others.

The aftercast triggers regardless of auto-attack being enabled or disabled.

Below are some video examples of thief dagger with autoattack turned on, where I manually hit 1 when the skill is up to trigger the bugged aftercast:

"Harpy Feathers event" not spawning after HoT

The event in Harathi Hinterlands, “Defend the skritt thieves while they steal harpy eggs”, has not been spawning on me since the launch of Heart of Thorns.

I’ve been to countless maps and waited/killed harpies etc. for hours with no sign of the event.

Also tested after the Modniir fix.

[edit] Some people have reported it still spawning, albeit on fresh maps, so I might just have been very unlucky and always gotten old maps where the event has bugged out.

Either way I’ll keep this post up for people trying to access the event.

You guys realise that since specialisations make you go fully in each trait line then the rank of the trait does not matter anymore? […] Ranks are cosmetic now.

What do you mean? They are still separated tiers. That’s pretty significant, considering the thread is about being unable to choose both Bolt of the Heart and Fresh Air because they are both in tier 3 (grandmaster)

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t particularly care if people do this, but it is clearly not intended to be done this way (although why they haven’t bothered to put an invisible barrier at the top of that door is beyond me).

ANet has a weird relationship with invisible walls in general.

Once every 3-4 months they go into the dungeon backlog and add ONE invisible wall somewhere. The location of this invisible wall is always random, and has no connection with the most popular skips and “exploits”.
AFAIK the most recent addition of an invisible wall in a dungeon was in Arah. The dungeon is literally one big jumping puzzle, but the main skips can be patched out with a couple invisible walls, yet they recently decided that adding an invisible wall to the insignificant plant skip after Hunter/Crusher in Arah P3 was the most important dungeon change they could allocate to the ANet map makers swamped schedule.

There was a list of videos on open-world jumping puzzle relog skips that was posted around 5 months ago which garnered a lot of ANet developer attention. It took them exactly 1 month to add invisible walls to key areas of some of those skips, but even then they only managed to patch a couple of the skips before it was left on the back burner, and some of them were done so poorly, perhaps hastily, that they don’t even serve a purpose (you can literally stand next to the invisible wall and perform the same action they put up the wall to prevent.)

It leads me to believe that adding an invisible wall in this game is a whole lot more effort than adding simple clip texture like in old school map editors.

As a reminder, they did try to get rid of this Fractals & Dungeons sub-forum in the recent forum reorganization.

Just another step in the process of distancing themselves from the old 5-man dungeon content that they no longer have any interest in.

FPS DROP after Patch

My FPS issue got fixed in the patch, but I have noticed whenever my FOV gets automatically adjusted after porting into a new map I get the same FPS drop as pre-patch until it has finished adjusting. Could be related.

This happens to me when I try to run GW2 without access to a working network or often when my network crashes.

Judging from the red comment this is probably a different bug.
I’ve also had the one you described since launch, whenever I logout-to-launcher or get disconnected— 100% reproduceable

AFAIK skill queue-canceling with another skill has always been disabled when autoattack is turned off. Not sure what the logic is behind it.

Hopefully we’ll get an option in Settings to enable/disable it some time

For me, reproducing it is as easy as logging into a character, swapping maps, loading pvp/exiting pvp.

It isn’t as severe on my end, but I still have to make a habit of switching to windowed before I load into a new map. >_<

Smartcat, it looks like you might have a problem with the new streaming option. Try disabling the streaming option in settings.

If you want to run fullscreen again after running the game with the -windowed shortcut, you need to switch to “Windowed Fullscreen” before switching to the fullscreen resolution.

[update] ALL FIXED as of 03/31

How to 100% reproduce the “black screen”, “not responding”, “system locks up, cursor flickering” bug on my client.

  1. Bugs 100% when switching Render Sampling settings while in fullscreen mode (e.g switching from Subsample to Native.) ONLY IF I AM LOGGED INTO A CHARACTER, does not happen in character selection.
    I can still change Render Sampling if I adjust it while in windowed mode and re-enter fullscreen mode with the new sampling setting.
  2. Bugs 100% when switching from both windowed modes to a fullscreen resolution that is different from my desktop resolution.
  3. Bugs 100% when switching from “Window” resolution to a fullscreen resolution.
    CAN WORK-AROUND BUG by first switching from “Window” to “Windowed Fullscreen” and then to fullscreen.

Can also happen randomly immediately after loading into a new map when in fullscreen mode.


My specs:

Operating system: Windows 7 x64 on Macbook Pro late 2013 model
CPU: Intel i7-4558U @ 2.8-3.3GHz
RAM: 8GB

Adding to this I get the same problem when switching Render Sampling settings in fullscreen (from Subsample to Native.)
I can still run any graphic setting if I adjust them in windowed mode and switch back to fullscreen. It only bugs out if I adjust the settings while in fullscreen.

Only the Render Sampling setting is affected.

The bug has also happened a couple times after loading into a new map.

[…] anything that says “Account Bound on Aquire” instead of just “Account Bound”

If you split any amount of items from the old stack they will be converted to the new itemtype, but I’m still stuck with 1x from the old itemtype unable to be converted.
If I port to a new map with the old items in my inventory they are all converted to the new itemtype.

BUG FoV Camera rotation sluggish acceleration

After the camera-changes the camera rotation is now very sluggish, as if there has been added a new type of smoothing or acceleration to the camera rotation.

If I adjust my FoV using the new slider, the camera rotation is back to normal for about 3 seconds before slowly fading into to the new sluggish settings. This is very noticeable and easy to reproduce.

[edit] After adjusting my FoV slider, my FPS drops to 30-33fps for about 3 seconds before gradually going back up to a steady 50fps. (it is VERY responsive during low fps, unresponsive and sluggish when back to higher FPS.)

Capping fps at 30 using built in Frame Limiter as a temporary fix.

Lightning Flash supposed to be stun break?

Looks like somewhere in the ANet chain there is a belief that the skill is supposed to be a stunbreak?
Or just wishful thinking on my part and they just blindly copypasted the patch change from the other blink skills.

sPvP UI vs. base/spawn location inconsistency

Looking at the design of the sPvP UI, red team is always positioned at left side, and blue team is always positioned right side.
Particularly the always-on-screen score counter, the party member display on each side and the detailed scoreboard.

Forest of Nifhlel and Courtyard deviates from this design. The spawn locations are swapped, but the UI remains unchanged- making PvP casts/spectating on these maps annoying to follow.

Light: ~320g, 36 days of crafting (Bolt of Damask)
Heavy: ~256g, 25 days of crafting (Bolt of Damask + Deldrimor Steel Ingot)
Medium: ~230g, 23 days of crafting (Bolt of Damask + Elonian Leather Square)

To me, the whole thing just looks off :P

Exotic Heavy armor is 20% more expensive than light or medium exotic armor because t6 cloth and leather is cheaper than ori.

Not just the price though, the whole timegate thing and materials. Maybe they should have created another item for the light recipe instead of stacking Bolt of Damask on top of Bolt of Damask

1. Was it deliberate to have such a large disparity in crafting costs for Light armor compared to the other weights?

Would love to see this answered.

I guess they are slowly working on balancing the material market to match the original idea of the material requirements for ascended armor, instead of having to constantly rework crafting recipes to balance them cost wise.
Though this doesn’t seem to be working out so far
