I got 3 precursors already, I don’t see the problem :p
I bought the CE too ! And I bought gems !
Do I get like an even better present ? A chest with 3 precursors legendaries in it !
At this pace, every class is going to get a greatsword, a big kitten armor and will be renamed Warrior.
“Oh hey, these guys don’t play the same way I do, adapting to their strategy scares me, please remove what makes their class playable”.
I used to play a lot of Super Monday Night Combat. This Moba game was a lot of fun… until they added solo queues. That didn’t sound like a bad idea at all, but in the end, nobody could play with their friends in small teams. The game would take ages to find a proper game, and most of the time my friends would get bored of waiting. In the end they left the game for good, and so did I shortly after.
Not saying this will happen to GW2 if they add solo queus, just saying it might not turn out the way Anet and the GW2 PvP community hope it will.
As other people said, I also never had any issue fighting against Asuras in PvP.
Perhaps my huge kitten screen helps to see a bit more of everything, but I can easily identify what an Asura is about to do as their animations are quite exagerated. At least it’s no more trouble than playing against other races.
In another thread I said that I wouldn’t care if Anet added an option to let players “normalize” every players into humans. But it won’t stop me from thinking that’s a bit sad that some players aren’t even trying a little harder to fight against Asuras (which are, in my opinion, not difficult to notice) and instead would prefer an option to turn GW2 into a very bland “esport game”.
If showing off your ingame alter egos isn’t an option anymore in PvP because you can never know who is going to normalize your characters, what would be the point ? So far the only rewards we get from that game are skins to embelish said alter egos, and not everyone wishes to play s/tPVP only to train for the “esports”.
So yeah, I wish to force you to see my tiny Asura when I play one, because it’s my alter ego and knowing that you could recognize me through him is my only reward in this game.
I wouldn’t mind a castbar though.
My main is a male Asura and his name is Tolbiaq
My alt is a female Asura and her name is lady Tolbiaq
They’re twins. Their genitors were brilliant scientists but terrible parents. They couldn’t care less what their progenies would be named :p
(edited by Edell.1286)
I’d probably spend way more money on the item shop if those kitten skins weren’t a random drop from a crate… just saying.
Please Anet, I really wish we had an option to disable the bloom (or whatever similar effect you use) without having to disable all the post processing effects.
I’d like to play with the post processing option enabled, it has some very interesting effects… heck, some areas look kinda dull without all the effects enabled. But due to this over used bloom effect, I won’t. I’ve never liked Bloom in other games (seriously, the world does not GLOW all the kittening time), and I sure don’t like it at all in GW2.
Or tone it down, idk.
Thanks.
Isn’t that the “Smoke bomb” skill used by thieves ? :p
I’ve seen this thread so many time. I’m not saying reposting about it is bad though :p I’m just saying that Anet should bloody do something about it. It’s obvious that many players aren’t happy with the current way to “use” minis… and seeing how hard they’re trying to sell us new minis every months, you’d think they’d have come up with something by now.
Force me to play a human or anything else in tPvP and I’m done with this game.
I like my Asura, he’s my virtual alter ego in GW2, I customized his looks, armor and weapon to fit my mood and my persona. Also, so far, the only rewards we get from doing sPvP and tPvP are armor and weapon skins. If you can’t even “show off” with your own style in the arenas (and that includes your race), what would be the point ?
Oh wait, right, “esport !”, “hardcore gaming !”.
I don’t care if there’s some sort of option that would let the most hardcorest esport gamers of GW2 display basic models instead of the real ones, we already have that for the colors, so why not. But don’t force me to play a Bookah.
I’m just glad you like it :p
Lol ! That’s my Asura “Tolbiaq”.
Armor is a mix of Cultural Asuran armor pieces (T3 and T2 I think) + some Inquest gloves (dungeon reward).
2 or more Mesmers from a same guild would bear the same name in WvW (server’s invader [tag]), and if you had your graphics turned down, it’s possible you had the basic models applied to the mesmers (green, blue, or red models).
Good ! New stuff to learn and enjoy.
I’m sure slashing, stabbing, burning and shooting innocent creatures and sentient beings just to get their loots is a far worse offense than name calling. Yet you don’t seem shocked by these
Who needs hair when you can be Zojja.
Or who needs Zojja when you can hair ?
Or is hair Zojja ?
Many questions.
But your stuff looks nice. But waaayyy to feminine for my male Asura.
Forget about them, we all know our alliance with the other races is a temporary thing to fight off the dragons.
They are fools to think we’re constructing lasers, golems and transport gates all over Tyria to help them.
Thanks but, I’m good with my thief, which is my main, since GW2 release.
I don’t mind the changes. At all. I think I’ve played and had fun with a good dozen of different builds. Going from the glass canon backstabby thief to the traps thief (yes I’m currently playing a trap thief, with no stealth, and I’m having fun and even doing good in PvP).
As said above, “adapt”.
Hey there,
No Bookahs Allowed [NoBA] is a new social guild that would like to try something a bit different than your regular guild.
We do not require our members to represent us all the time. In fact we encourage you to have a main guild and keep us as your secondary guild. When you feel like your main guild is going a bit slow, or if the anonymity of a zerg guild is starting to bore you, represent us for a bit and have a chat with our members. Then switch back until next time :)
Everyone is welcome, we don’t care about your server or your nationality. (our small community is composed of people from all around the globe, so we won’t mind if your english isn’t perfect).
So join us, meet us, chat with us, play with us, leave us… no bounds attached ;)
And if you’re wondering why : we feel like GW2 doesn’t have a lot of mechanic that encourage people to socialize. Sure, they play together, they cooperate, but they rarely take the opportunity to get to know new people outside their guilds.
So, we decided to create a chat room where people can meet, with the tools the game gave us :)

I don’t even use stealth and I roll over everything :dealwithit: :sunglasses: :swag:
In all seriousness : cond thief ftw :p
I totally agree with this suggestion.
Hi, as the title says, I think adding an equipment slot for our minis could be handy. Right now, every time you switch to another area, you have to re-enable your mini if you wish to display it… which is kind of annoying.
I like the idea of having a cosmetic pet hanging around me, I don’t mind paying money (5€ !) for one… but please Anet, give us a way to enjoy it without having to re enable it every 10 minutes. Thanks
To be honest… I made an Asura because I thought GW2 was going to be bad :p
I only bought GW2 when it was released because my gaming buddies kinda forced me to. Back then I didn’t want to start playing to a new mmo and even less to GW2… I thought it was stupid due to its casual audience, korean mmo looks, etc. So I made an Asura because they were for me the basic reason why the GW2 universe was going to be so bad (playble cute tiny creatures ? Come on)
Well, never judge a book by its cover, or a game by its screenshots :p
Of all my original gaming buddies, I’m the only one still playing. I love my Asura and I love the game.
(I just wish they wouldn’t go with the temporary contents…)
First Asura I ever made, only character I have, and I don’t feel like changing his face at all :p
Alright thanks a lot for that information
Glad it’s not coming from some faulty hardware.
Man, I’m enjoying GW2 like if it was a new game now :p
Alright, got my i5 3570k and 8gb of DDR2 PC12800
The computer is now a beast (compared to what I previously had).
Just tried some WvW, I get 40 fps during big battles which is kitten awesome ! And I get well over 60 fps everywhere else.
However. The game speed seems to “fluctuate”, it seems to slown down every once in a while (when I turn the camera for instance), and it’s more noticeable when the shadows are on ultra/high.
Is there any known reason for that ? Like idk, some “power saving” system from the latest motherboards that would make my CPU go wonky ? (I have an msi z77a-g441).
Thanks SolarNova for the feedback.
I will indeed hang onto my 560 ti for now, and upgrade for the 3570k (already bought online this afternoon… eagerly waiting for its delivery now
). I’m not really used to overclocking CPUs but I heard the “k” version of the intel CPUs are overclocking friendly… so if I notice that there’s room for improvement, I’ll probably invest the extra 100€ in an cooling system and do some computer wizardry.
560ti and 660 you won’t notice much difference in GW2
Thanks for clearing that up !
Would the difference between the 560 ti and 660 ti that noticeable ?
It doesn’t seem like GW2 is using 100% of my current GPU (560ti) at any time.
I know there are other games out there that are GPU heavy, and new ones coming, but right now I’m trying to fit everything in my xmas budget :p
Anyway thanks for the feedbacks. I think I’ll go for the i5 3570K … other forums also recommended me the i5 over the i7 for video games.
Are you sure you don’t have a dynamic IP ?
Hello there,
Christmas is coming (brace yourself), so I’m planning to treat myself with a PC upgrade this year. Any advice/input about what I plan to buy is very welcomed !
(nb : I’m only changing the highlighted components)
My current rig :
MB : GA-MA770-UD3
CPU : AMD Athlon X3 440 @ 3.01ghz
RAM : 4gb DDR2 PC2-8900
GC : GeForce GTX 560 Ti
HDD : 500gb Western Digital Caviar Black.
PSU @ 700W
Planned upgrade :
MB : Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
CPU : Intel core i7 3770K w/ Cooler Master Hyper 412S
RAM : G.Skill Extreme 3 PC12800 Sniper (who comes up with these names ?)
GC : GeForce GTX 560 Ti
HDD : 500gb Western Digital Caviar Black.
PSU @ 700W
This upgrade is part of an upgrade kit from this website (sorry, it’s in french) : http://www.materiel.net/pack-composants-de-mise-a-jour-pc/materiel-net-psycho-kit-7804kittenml
So, will I be able to run GW2 smoothly ? At least more than 10 FPS in LA and WvW …
I’m also wondering if I shouldn’t just take an i5 3570K, because it’s less expensive and I have no idea if the performance gain between the i5 3570K and the i7 3770K will be that noticeable.
Thanks for any feedback !

Yes for CTF !
I bought that game “Forge” which is a “mmo PvP game” without the “mmo” part, and while the game isn’t that good (yet), at least the variety of game modes (ctf, koth, tdm, etc) made me realize how poor GW2 PvP was.
Playing over and over and over the same maps for over 2 months sure make you feel like you’re doing some hardcore training for the e-sport scene, but it’s also very boring
I don’t even use stealth anymore, except when I steal it from another thief.
But I have no issue against other thieves that stealth away all the time. Their movements are usually predictable and you can kill them by slashing (or whatever useful you do) in their general direction.
Sure, it can looks disorientating and scary, but I’m sure you’ll get used to it soon enough
“Pro” PvP players who don’t get the first kill : “I give up, please end this quick”.
Don’t listen to Horroscope.
I play on a Athlon II X3 440 and I’m doing just fine.
Sure huge WvW fights and crowded cities (such as Lion’s Arch) get kinda laggy (WvW can transform into a slideshow), but you’ll do alright. In small scale PvP (sPvP, tPvP, WvW skirmishes) I get a solid 60 fps so I wouldn’t worry about your CPU.
But make sure your GPU is also adequate, and that you have enough RAM.
I tried out that tool called “BattlePing” and after a bit of testing it seems like that it has “fixed” my lag. The software redirects your connection via their own servers, so if your lag is indeed caused by some shenanigan between your ISP and Anet’s servers, it should be able to fix it.
However if the lag is located on your end (faulty hardware/software, virus, trojan, spywares, etc) this tool won’t help you much.
The bad news however is the monthly sub they ask for their services. It’s only 6$ but nobody should have to pay extras to be able to properly play to a game they paid (and continue paying via their purchases in the items store). And of course I have no idea if it’s secure at all… but I’m willing to take the risk just to be able to play.
Now that I tried out BattlePing I can definitely say that the issue is not on my end but between my ISP and ArenaNet’s servers… and I’m pretty sure you don’t ask that small corporation known as “Orange” to change the way their servers work ! So Anet, the second you understand how unprofessional it is to provide an kitten service which doesn’t properly work for some of your customers, please, do something about your servers.
Happens to me all the time when I try to pick up stuff during combat.
Seems like trying to pick up stuff while moving triggers this bug.
It’s not a very important bug but can be quite annoying in some dungeons.
I’m trying to log in via BattlePing** but I’m not receiving any authentification mail. I hope that will be fixed soon.
**The game is in an unplayable state because of some voodoo stuff going on between my ISP and Anet’s servers. So I’m trying out that software that is routing my connection via their own servers…. hoping to get a decent ping !
Read the whole post this is his processor way under mim. Intel Dual 1.46 Chipset
That’s indeed pretty slow, but that shouldn’t stop him from installing the game.
I don’t think the installation process is affected by how well your computer runs… OP should be able to at least run the install, and even run the game with an old rig (not too old mind you).
The best thing to do is to contact the Support team. You should get an answer in the next 24h.
I’d like to correct what I said about the “fix”.
After all it seems that it didn’t do much … I’m still getting heavy lags on several servers (just finished a run of Caudecus Manor in Explore mode… and I had 5 seconds lags every 15 seconds… unplayable !).
Friends told me about some stuff called “battleping” that redirects your connection through their servers to avoid getting the ISP/Anet servers lag issues. It’s 6$ a month but at this point I’m ready for anything.
And to be honest I’d rather pay a monthly sub for a MMORPG and have reliable servers for everyone instead of what we currently have . . . Your game is ina very sad state, and you decided to remain silent about this issue, good for you, but I’m not spending another penny in your item shop untill your servers are fixed.
I still experience some heavy lags on some very rare servers (mostly sPvP servers… but not all of them are lagging, so I just have to leave for another… however tPvP servers work nicely).
I also had lag on Rata Sum, for some reason. But nowhere else.
Alright ! I fixed my lag by disabling “UPnP” (Universal Plug & Play) on my adsl router. I have no idea what it does exactly, but it somehow fixed everything. Now I’m playing without a second of lag
But don’t get your hopes up, it probably only works with my ISP (France Telecom/Orange).
I hope the support won’t mind but here is the answer they gave me :
(note : France Telecom is my Internet Service Provider)
“Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention today. We have seen issues for a few weeks now with France Telecom and it’s connection to Guild Wars 2. We have narrowed down that this is a routing issue with the ISP and we do not have any way to fix this. We can verify this is your issue by Running a ping plotter test (below). Please run this test during the hours when you are having issues. "
Well at least it’s a known issue, and I’m not the only France Telecom player encoutering it… so now I’m going to run their tests, send it, and I guess I’ll just have to wait & see.
I really hoped the last patch would have somehow fixed the network lags.
But no, it’s back… the servers (at least tPvP) started to lag again around 7pm.
I can’t play (or very badly), still no official world about that issue…
I’m really starting to regret all the cash I poured into the game.
It’s probably out of their hands. No reason for them to tell us they can’t do anything about it. Gotta wait until the IT guys from Anet figure out what’s wrong with their servers for some of the players.
I just wish the guys at Anet would aknowledge they are having issues with their servers and are working on finding a solution, instead of leaving us with laggy servers and no clue about what’s being done about that.
I experience the same lags on my AMD Athlon X3 440/GeForce gtx 560ti… though they are less noticeable than yours.
I’m having lags aswell (Gandara EU)… and it’s getting really tiresome in tPvP, to the point I just don’t know if it’s worth playing at all. Some servers seem to be doing okay (no lag in tPvP), some others are really making me cringe (2 to 5 seconds freezes, + constant lag for actions, + rubber banding, in tPvP). It’s all random… every time we get a map change in tournaments I start praying really hard that we get a non laggy server.
The only reason why I’m playing GW2 is because of all the great PvP ArenaNet promised. However you can’t seriously think anyone is going to invest a lot of his time to get better at this if some of your servers aren’t properly set up.
And no : it’s not my internet. I monitored some stuff and your game never uses 100% of my bandwidth. Heck, even a game like Planetside 2 with hundred more elements sent/received every second doesn’t lag at all… And yeah, if the lag continues, I’ll just stop bothering with GW2 and some other item shop will receive my money.
