It feels like the update also changed how fast you get participation. Not sure if that is a (intended) side effect of the adjusted timer reset values, but this part needs looking at.

I’m fine with the faster decay timer, as long as we can build up participation fast enough again. Right now, it’s too restrictive and rewards people for ktraining objectives too much.

I’ve had this bug crop up every reset night since the reward update and it’s annoying as fudge.

How is it a 3rd-party dev (for a “hacky” dpsmeter no less) has a fix but Anet does not?

Yes, also having issues, with similar tracert results.

It’s not our ISPs, its something right before our connection hits the NCSoft servers/network.

Meaning ArenaNet might have more leverage to get this fixed than we do, if anyone ever bothers looking here that is.

I’m also having a very unusually high ping and it’s just GW2. Normal ping is around 50ms.

ive always thought the solution for this was to simply disable the stations when a queue is present. if there is no queue, who really cares?

I think this is a really good idea if queues are the basis for this change. But it needs some slight adjustments. When there’s a queue, it’s already too late, since people could be already taking spots for crafting. Maybe the crafting stations could be disabled when the map is very close to the population cap.

It was a necessary change. The random pve players that just come in the use the crafting stations, are consider WvW players just stepping into citadel for just using them then leave a few minutes later to going back to pveing, those players cause the server population influx of being full status or very highl etc.

If that truely is the reason for this change, to fix their WvW population statistics, maybe they should instead rethink their method of gathering said statistics. Counting just the number of people porting into WvW for a valid population gauge is probably the worst possible way to judge a server’s WvW population.

I just watched Saving Private Ryan again, and verified that nobody on Omaha Beach was whipping up a Veggie Pizza in a stove on the beach at the time of the invasion.

That’s probably why the stations are were in the safe area of the citadel and not outside, for example, garri’s watergate.

Why not at least add bank access to each WvW maps if you’re going to do yet another pointless change such as this? Why is there bank access in the PvP lobby but not WvW????

Almost all the people I know avoid LA (and to a lesser degree other cities) like the plague because the loading times are atrocious. If they really want cities to become social hubs, they should start with fixing that, and not with taking away what little conveniences WvW had.

There are TP npcs all over tyria too, they might as well remove that npc from the borderlands too.

But really, this is just a silly and uncalled for change that only has negative effects for the players. I’ve never seen more that 3-4 people at the BL crafting stations, so ‘space’ saving isn’t a proper reason. Maybe they should start with the people idling on the Citadel WP instead?

All they did is inconvenience WvW players who now have to port to LA or other cities (yay, long loading…) for crafting and proper bank access, potentially losing their spot on queued maps.

And it isn’t a question about needing this or that service, the crafting was there for nearly 4 years and now they take it away? Players expect a modicum of convenience. I would even advocate for crafting access in GH, EotM and the PvP lobby, because why not? The only reason they won’t do this is for short-term money grabbing via Royal Terrace/Airship passes. Typical greed at work.

Something I noticed playing Revenant is that staff skill #4 (Renewing Wave) does not always seem to clears conditions on yourself. Not sure if it’s due to moving during the aftercast or whatever. But it’s kind of annoying getting downed because your condi cleanse doesn’t work reliably.

I actually stopped using staff because of that. I thought it only cleansed conditions on allies. Guess it was a bug o.o

The description states it “heals and removes conditions on allies”, but I’m 100% I have seen it remove conditions on myself too, but it’s pretty unreliable in that aspect. I haven’t looked into if/how the healing part applies to you and/or allies. I see 2 possible bugs here:

  • It is not supposed to affect you, only allies, but it sometimes does or,
  • It is supposed to affect you but it does not work all the time.

If bug no1 is the case here, that makes staff #4 a pretty terrible skill, since it’s not even self-affecting and therefore useless in any solo situation. Not to mention the rooting…

Renewing Wave (Rev staff #4) does not remove bleed stacks while it removes other conditions just fine. Has anyone else experienced this bug?

I was doing CM story with some guildies and at the Door Guard npc (first one when you enter the house), I had 2 occurrences of this. The guard stacks bleeding with his flurry attack and I could not cleanse them with Renewing Wave. No other conditions on me, just bleeding.

Some thoughts on the Revenant from playing PvE and WvW.

The new stuff
With swords, I expected some better damage, but it feels underpowered at the moment. Weird cleave and low dmg on AA, #2 and #5 are clunky in PvE and #3 needs a dmg boost and evade frames.

The Shiro stance utility skills, however, are awesome and give some much needed mobility to the Revenant. The heal skill is rather bad though. Remove the internal cooldown or up the life siphon or maybe both.

Weapons
Hammer dmg is in a good spot right now, but skill #5 is still awkward to land, a cast time reduction might be in order here.

While staff damage feels a lot better than the previous test, it could use some more (minor) tweaking. Skill #2 is still very situational and therefore I’d rather see this remade into something else. Allowing movement while using #4 and adding evade on #5 would turn this weapon into a very nice melee set.

Haven’t tried mace/axe again, but from last test, I believe this set is pretty decent.

Stances
Jalis is still my go-to stance after Shiro, mostly because of the heal. It’s the best out of the 4 heal skills available right now and even then, it’s subpar compared to heals on other professions. The elite is nice for those tough situations, but the casting time is way too long for the effect duration. Vengeful Hammers is very nice for added melee pressure, but bugs out on uneven terrain.

Ventari is, in one word, awkward. You spend too much time micromanaging the tablet, distracting you from the main battle and the return you get is rather minimal. Shield bubble is nice, but the other skills (elite too) are very lackluster.

Mallyx is not my playstyle, I don’t use it, so I can’t comment on it.

Traits
Traits look a bit thrown together, no real synergy between trait lines, and with a lot of traits being a (bad) copy from other professions too. This needs work, imo.

Energy
Energy management, for the most part, is pretty doable. But like the post above me says, I’d like an energy reduction or removal from weapon skills. Some utility skills also have a very large energy cost for a very weak effect (Forced Engagement, I’m looking at you). These could use tweaking too.

The price for HOT stand alone ONLY is $50, that is the price of the expansion…. Ok, still following…… Base game is included free to make it easier for new players to get into, which is a good thing.

I still dont understand why so many arent paying attention and think they are buying the original and the expansion.. HOT cost $50, thats what your paying for.

Nothing is free if you have to pay $50 to get it. If the core game truly was free, it would be up for download for everyone. And do you think Anet has no cost activating and maintaining those new player accounts? You can bet that cost will be calculated into the $50, so both new and existing players pay for the new accounts.

The bundle states it comes with the core game (a “free” bonus as later explained by a community rep), but if it truly does come as a “free” bonus, why can’t existing players claim it? Nowhere on that sales page does it say anything about the core game only being included for new accounts, and the fact existing players do not get what they paid for (HoT and Core, as it is apparently included), that makes it false advertising. Either they need to change how the bundle is worded (eg. New players also get access to the core game with their purchase as a welcoming incentive!) or they need to keep to their advertised word and include the bonus for everyone buying the bundle.

This is an awesome idea, but I wouldn’t put my hopes up in it ever getting implemented, for the same reason WvW armor (the stuff you buy with badges) is not salvageable: the Economy. That seems to be more important than adding helpful and fun QoL features like this to WvW.

Exotic Gear that can be salvaged – so WvWers can actually buy the gear and not worry about not being able to remove our runes and sigils.

Yes, so much this. I want to be able to salvage expensive runes out of my armor. I don’t even care for the potential materials we would get, they could even disable mats for all I care. This really is unfair if you look at the other token based armor: dungeon armor can be salvaged, but WvW armor can’t?

The fact this hasn’t been addressed is starting to look less like an oversight and more like neglect or even an unwillingness to fix this, for whatever reason the devs might have.

On a side-note, it would be nice if they start adding the new/missing stat prefixes to the vendors too.

Upon opening the Hero Panel, both 2h and 1h weapons are sized incorrectly compared to their ingame look, see screenshot. What’s peculiar though, is that the visual bug is fixed by changing tabs in the Hero Panel or by swapping weapons.

Not a very big bug, but it irks me now I know it’s happening.

Yeah, I am using SweetFX too. Moved the files out of the GW2 folder and client started behaving again. No more vibrant colors until someone fixes this.

Worse is we, the EU players, are now a day behind on the daily login rewards. Kinda silly to go out of your way coding it like this for what? Not giving people 2 daily rewards? But you do allow us to do the regular (new) dailies and get those rewards. Makes no sense.

Again an example of the worst problem Anet has: inconsistency in everything they do.

I sincerely hope Anet reconsiders adding the gloves back as a repeatable story reward. The grind in and of itself isn’t that bad, the problem I’m having is that SW gets boring pretty fast. The same events on a 30-40 min loop, culminating in boss fights that only last a few minutes and are, frankly, not that exciting. Oh wait, we can play pacman in the maze between loops now…

This, imo, is just a way to keep people in SW, and it feels artificial and cheap. Disappointing.

Heh, I’ve had someone whisper me asking where I got the shield too, as he thought it looked cool with the squares. When I linked the shield he was surprised it looked different in the preview, so we figured it had to be a bugged/missing guild emblem texture on his part. But the thing about low settings sounds more correct.

I wanted to dig into the instanced vs non-instanced debate a bit. Here are 4 questions I’ll pose:

  • What do people see as the benefits of instanced?
  • What do you see as the benefits of open world guild halls?
  • How could we get the benefits of instanced guild halls in a system of open world guild halls?
  • How could we get the benefits of open world guild halls in a system where guild halls are instanced?

Jon

  • Not limited in size to an open world area. No performance impact on maps where GH might be located in. Private spot only for guildies and guests to visit.
  • Showing off to other players, not just guests members. Possible interaction with nearby events.
  • An area only accessible by members, maybe with a separate map/local chat channel, to simulate a private instance.
  • Publicly visible outer “shell” with an interior that’s only accessible by members. Bigger on the inside than it looks outside?

If the guild halls become instanced, I’d like it to be an instance you can log into. Now, for example the home instance, you get kicked out into the host city/area if you log into a character that has logged off there. This would give players a spot with a fast loading time to park characters in, because all the major cities have become slower to load into after the megaserver system got switched on.

Also bugged as of time of typing on Anvil Rock. Tigh Snatchskull just walks around in circles like the poster 2 above me described.

Same on Aurora Glade. Maybe they should think of moving that vista somewhere else…
