Hi Aaricia,
Finding the right guild can be tough. I hope you find a good place for you and your husband.
I’d like to tell you about [Crow]. We are a new guild. Small and just getting started. We are a PvX guild not just in name like most. I love to play WvW, PvP and PvE. (We are based on Yak’s Bend however.)
I am a Christian but the guild is not necessarily. We do expect family friendly, PG13 chat. I can’t promise someone won’t slip up, but that is the goal. (I have kids too and I don’t want to have chatter that I’d be embarrassed for them to read, hear or learn.)
We are using Discord for text and voice chat (again PG13) and we have a web site (crowguild.com).
We are a 21+ membership so you will fit right in. We are new and small, but you will be right in our average age slot.
I guess that is the basics. If you are open to being a part of something small and brand new, check out the web site and/or connect with me in game.
Here are mine in order of importance.
1. Rewards. – It is just so unrewarding out here. When I lead a small team from my guild, I lose gold on the night. It is a shame to have make gold playing other things to fund a WvW night. A reward track like PvP would be a good start. Work on a WvW specific backpiece would be very nice. Just adding in some coin for captures would be a quick fix in the right direction. Anything here.
2. Alpine BL – Yeah, Alpine was a lot better. Ideally, we could mix in Desert sometimes, but if I could only have one it would be Alpine, not even close.
3. WvW Currencies – Let us do something else with it. (new stats, etc) And this soulbound proof of heroics thing. Make them more useful and put them in our wallet (account bound).
4. Masteries – Let’s allow our PvE Masteries (autoloot, swiftness in starting camp) to help out here or give us new WvW quality of life masteries.
5. Scoring / Population balance – Yes, this is a huge issue. We know this will take some time, but put together a plan and lets discuss it publicly.
I still miss these.
I am working on this collection too. The event did come up for me. I was waiting for the wrong event to come when I stumbled on the correct event and I got this. It was not in Skrittsburgh, but to the east of it between the nightmare court heart and Skrittsburgh and heading toward the heart. Hopefully, you’ll find it soon.
I’m still waiting to free a quaggan in Kessex Hills, but I figure I’m looking for the wrong thing.
Well what about : http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/v/12075076?t=31m02s
Excellent. It seems Ricochet is not gone… they just gave it to warriors.
Ok, they called it a piercing trait, but that looked like it “pierced” in all sorts of directions (much better than ricochet ever was). I’d be pretty happy for that on my pistols.
All these weeks and the only thing we’ve heard from the devs on Ricochet was from a comment on a Twitch stream.
We still miss these Anet and we wish you cared.
I’m not sure what else there is to say in this thread.
If I wanted to use a bow as my ranged option, I would have made a ranger. Since my thief now basically has to use a bow at range, I mainly play my ranger. I still prefer my thief pistols with ricochet, but not without.
So i’ve been thinking. The quaggan tonic transforms can jump and dodge now. And when i checked how the little guys look while jumping, i realized that they are having buckets of fun while in the air (they have a huge smile and look happy all-around).
Someone at Arenanet designed that with a lot of love and care, probably wanting to give players something to smile about (similar to the jumping quaggans).
Can we get some of the same developer care for our animations? It does not have to be a super-awesome solution like the jumping and dodging quaggan but something more than looking left and then right.Thanks.
It doesn’t have to even be anything new. Just put the old ones back in already.
It’s been 1,5 years since the running animation on human female player characters has been bugged. The females seem to use the human male running animation now. And it looks horrible.
<snip>
Or act like a woman? (more informations -> here)
I miss those animations. I doubt they will ever get put back though.
Hello thieves! Take some time from instagibing me and talk about the new specializations! Either answer my questions directly or simply post about what you feel is important for the devs to know about the new changes.
Questions:
2. I’ve heard some people say they don’t like the critical strike line. Do you agree and why?
This line really should rework the Ankle Shots trait to add back in Ricochet functionality in addition to the cripple.
Additionally, the pistol range should be 1050 baseline. Other professions got their weapon ranges improved (baseline) while thieves got nerfed.
We’d love to see the devs take a look at the Ricochet Post which has a tons of views and activity from disappointed pistol thieves.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Ricochet-gone/
Sadly, Anet has created the issue of less traits to work with. So to put Ricochet back in the game, they would either need to make it baseline or remove an existing trait.
I would also guess they do not want to have multiple specific weapon traits. Currently Dagger and Pistol each have 1 trait, while Sword and Shortbow have no specific traits. (Yes, I’m ignoring the underwater weapons. No one is taking Ankle shots for their Harpoon gun.)
So… I think we would like them to add Ricochet back in place of Ankle Shots. In addition, the added range should be baseline line they have done for other professions. Maybe the new trait would be something like this.
“Ricochet: Pistol shots have a chance to bounce to an additional target. Critical hits with pistols have a chance to cripple foes. Pistol attacks deal increased damage to crippled foes.”
We lose the better damage modifier we had, but as they removed that from dagger too, I doubt we’ll get it back.
I’m pretty disappointed by this too. So much so, that I actually haven’t played my main character yet (thief). I logged in, confirmed it was all gone, looked at my build options and switched to my alts.
It is such a shame that not one of the devs could make a comment on the forums about this. The only comment I’ve seen was posted earlier in this thread via a Twitch screenshot. Karl McLain’s very helpful “It’s not there” and Jon Peter’s remarks about “reducing purity” and “too much RNG” were pathetic. There is so much RNG in the combat system and they start cleaning it up by destroying thief pistols?
I really hate this new trait system. Less choices for everyone packaged in a pretty but more confusing interface. Thanks Anet! The more I think about it, the less I want to play my thief again.
Here’s your dev answer.
Thanks for sharing this. A real shame someone from Anet couldn’t just state this on the forums to one of the many posts about it.
That statement from Jon about “reduced the purity of pistol” is nonsense.
What’s weird is the complete dev silence on the topic. They straight up killed the P/P thief in silence.
This. ^
They obviously don’t care about this weapon set at all, but with all these other professions getting weapon range increases built in, I believe this is the only weapon that is getting a range loss.
Of course, a range loss is nothing compared to the bounce and the 10% damage modifier loss, but it all stinks.
It is almost as if the devs didn’t even realize that p/p was an option.
Now after reading these changes and wondering what the heck just happened to nearly all of the traits that made Pistol even remotely viable, (A trait, that only a few weeks ago, was apparently deemed good enough for a Grandmaster slot!) I can’t even bring myself to log in to my Thief.
I’ve got the opposite idea. I’m hoping to get a few long play sessions as a P/P thief before this patch hits.
As we haven’t heard anything, I figure I had better enjoy it while I can.
Regarding the grandmaster trait thing, yeah I remember thinking that was odd as pistols could really use some help. Moving that trait up to conflict with other helpful ones was tough to swallow. Of course, this is even worse.
I thought they said Thief pistol range was extended. That might have been for Mesmer, though, as that’s the only part of the post-Twitch-shutdown video I’ve had time to watch.
It is only listed for Mesmer.
Would still love to hear something about the thief pistol nerf. I’ve been hoping this was just missed in the notes, but by now I’m guessing they just don’t care.
Thief pistol has lost it damage trait (Pistol Mastery) and Ricochet which gave it added range and bounce (for additional targets). Of the 3 traits that effected this weapon, thieves only kept one of them (Ankle Shots). It is almost as if they don’t even want us to use the weapon any longer.
Were there any other weapons that actually lost range in this update?
The silence from Anet on this speaks for itself. They have been correcting other omissions, but nothing for thief pistols.
We have 3 pistols traits now and only 1 starting Tuesday. We’ve lost range, bounce, and the 10% damage we had on everything is now only on crippled enemies through Ankle shots. I just don’t understand the nerf to our weakest weapon set.
Ricochet is the big issue though. I can’t imagine going back to pistols without it.
In the last version of the changes, Ricochet was moved up to a Grandmaster trait and now it is gone.
P/P has been fun, but could have used a bit of a buff. I guess I better enjoy it over the next few days as it will be gone.
That is a nice memory, DarkWasp. I still miss these.
I struggle to see why Ricochet has been moved to a Grandmaster trait. Hasn’t there been enough rumbling about P/P being week and now to take one of the traits we can get to help it and moving it to GM level seems crazy. It isn’t even being buffed, just moved up and in a place where you have to choose between it and IP which it did go well with.
I’m not too excited for the future of P/P. Maybe conditions will be improved, but in general open world play it is worthless today.
It would really be awesome to get an update on this. Can we just put them back in?
So … they removed the female stretch because it “ruined the immersion in cutscenes” … yet they give us the absurdity of running through our cutscenes as airplanes for April Fools.
Logic?
I was thinking about this in my Personal Story a moment ago and took a screenshot, but you beat me to it.
I enjoy the airplane mode for a few hours. It is fun. I would have much preferred getting our idle animations back though.
Help us Gaile, you’re our only hope.
It seems a bunch of Personal Story steps are bugged as of the patch looking down this page.
Might be best to avoid PS until they push another patch.
Well, I’ve tried it twice in a row now and I keep getting stuck at “Defeat the Ministry Guard.”
They are defeated. Anise has a ton of Swordsman up. Logan and Anise are standing on top of one another hanging out and good ole Serentine is in her bubble.
It always seems to go back to the last reward track picked before Silverwastes.
Hopefully, they will notice this and fix it soon.
I don’t have that many points and can only have one line maxed.
Well, I messed up. I was out the other night and after my first fight realized I forgot to I needed to redo my points. I quickly when to the list and took the max of the second line for Defense against guard only to later realize that is now guard killer. I’ve been trying it out, but it just isn’t nearly as nice for me.
I should have taken my time here. Is there any way to do a reset?
Yeah, be sure to listen in around the 23:50 min mark as well. They show off the quaggan API.
Here are the relevant details I caught:
As they wrap up the quaggin api demo, Josh Galvin (Web Programmer) says “I highly recommend you check out our apis. We have apis for maps and a random assortment of stuff you can do. It is really cool and easy to use. We have good documentation up on, I think, reddit and on the forums. Highly recommend checking it out.”
Evan Zynda (QA Principle) then states “Although I’d like to point out, this isn’t a major feature or anything… right, its like, we..we are here for the new trading post.”
After a few comments, Evan states “I feel like not enough people fully use all of our apis that are available to the public and we should really call them out so that people can really start utilizing them to the fullest abilities.”
At the 32 min area, Josh answers the question “Will the new TP change the APIs and break sites that currently use the api?”
Josh answers, “Yes.” before the question is read, but after the question is read, he states “We are currently reaching out to some of them right now, but yes… I don’t want to talk about it.”
There is a bit more at the very end, but nothing new.
Pretty sad to be pushing the api in its current ignored state.

In today’s Points of Interest, it was mentioned that the old trading post API will no longer work. They are “reaching out” to some of the sites that were using it.
:(
Well, today’s feature post makes me wonder about the fate of the apps using the old trading post api methods (like gw2spidy and others). I’m guessing with the trading post update, there is a good chance the old method calls will start to break after the 9th.
There are a lot of apps that use v1 of the API and/or the old trading post methods. These apps have a nice following of GW2 players and further disruption with the API is not a happy thought.
It sure would be nice for a dev to step up and give us some clear information about v2 of the API which from the looks of it will have basic trading post details for apps as well.
Certainly, this was just an oversight and will be added in the next patch.
I can’t imagine our Queen not putting every effort toward keeping the Royal Terrace as the best spot in Tyria.
I’ve been watching and waiting for an update on AuthO since Cliff mentioned it long, long ago.
I saw this link on reddit this morning which has some details on it so I thought I’d share it.
Highlights:
Larimore tells ProgrammableWeb that the OAuth2 implementation itself is basically complete. However, ArenaNet is currently developing APIs that take advantage of OAuth2. The first set of new authenticated APIs will use Guild Wars 2 Character and Account information.
“I hope to have an initial release by end of the first quarter of 2014, but there are still some unknowns about performance and scalability which might push this back a bit,” says Larimore.
Superior Rune of the Traveler, which used to be the magic find rune with a 5% movement bonus now has a 25% movement bonus. Very nice for my Mesmer who is always getting left behind.
It got me wondering if the movement bonus would stack with my Thief or Ranger and their signet movement bonuses? Can anyone confirm?
