I’ve seen that all foods that grant experience have a “from Kills” on the description,
except for Bowl of Candy Corn Ice Cream, it just says “+15% Experience” is it from Kills only or from all sources?
It’s a bit misleading.
Even if you craft ascended gear/weapons you’ll still have stacks and stacks of this materials, what do you guys do with them?
I’ve played Thief only since I started playing 3 years ago,
I still enjoy it.
I tried other classes, since I had enough level boosters to get 3 other toons to Lv80,
but I never really got into any of them.
Some places are not like before * cof * WvW * cof *,
but meta events, world bosses and so on are packed with players
There isn’t. Being able to reset them would remove any “value” to them as you could just get enough to swap around.
That makes sense I guess,
there could have been a 1-time only reset or something tho.
Any way, thanks (:Would still be the same. You could get all the benefit from one mastery track and then reset it to go towards another. Although most masteries are not all that useful. Fortunately there are plenty of excess mastery points so it’s not like players cannot max all of them.
I’m having a hard time getting points in the central tyria category :/
Maguuma points are indeed easy to get tho.

I logged in right away when the mastery system was introduced and put all my points to Pact Commander, and the basically didn’t play for months.
I started playing again now but I regret spending my points that way, is there a way to reset them?
Just wondering if there are any good thieves uploading videos or streaming this days,
I remember Yishis videos which were amazing, is there anyone as good this days?
Big question here is are you talking about solo pve or group pve (dungeons, fractals, raids, etc).
For solo pve both are good and you won’t have any problems at all,
for group pve tho, although both can be equally viable, people will always prefer the warrior on their party, specially phalanx build.
I have a Thief Lv80 and a Warrior Lv80, I play all gamemodes on the Thief and mostly WvW on the Warrior, I find the Thief to be much more fun to play.
I see a lot of good comments,
and I agree that Thief is not a bad profession, at least for regular pve,
but that’s not the point of the thread, the point is that it has nothing unique.
Steal is not unique, it’s just an F1 skill and most professions have one,
its ability is not unique either it’s just a skill that grants another skill.
Can’t really compare that to a pet, clones, different elements, turrets, etc.
I already said that his mobility is the only thing that is a bit better than the rest,
but is nothing that great either, it’s just an extra roll and only if you have the elite spec,
which means you have to be Lv80 (so for a new pve player this is useless) and you have to own HoT (which means no free player will ever use this).
I like my Thief and I don’t think it’s garbage or anything,
I just feel like the Profession has nothing unique to offer.
Yeah I’m not saying that the class is not fun, I’m just asking what’s unique about it.
Some say that thief has a stealth traitline, that doesn’t make stealth a unique mechanic, it’s literally on other 4 classes.
Also, that doesn’t make the thief the best stealth class,
as Kuro said above, Scrapper is way better, yes Thief could get more stealth but you would have to use that specific traitline (which I consider to be a negative thing, not a positive thing, because you lose another possible traitline just to be able to use your main mechanic: stealth) instead of other mechanics to be actually viable (deal damage or gain mobility).
I just feel like Thief hasn’t got anything in what he is better than the rest,
except maybe for a little mobility and.. yeah that’s it.
What’s the point?
Again, I’m not saying it is a boring class, I love my thief and I’ll continue to play as a thief, but I certainly feel like any other class would be better on almost any situation.
Well I was 3 years ago at least,
Stealth was the unique mechanic at least, that’s the idea they sold me,
if Stealth is just a gimmick then what is this: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/thief/
I certainly don’t see they mentioning Stealth on other professions,
I just don’t get what has the Thief on his favor,
I mean mesmer was already pretty unique, didn’t need to have other’s professions mechanics as well, same for engineers.
I mean, aside from warrior and guardian every class has something pretty unique,
mesmers can make clones, engi has turrets, ranger has pets (and this actually didn’t need something that unique, I mean.. it’s the archer class), necro has transformation, revenant is a mess, elementalist has 4 different elements with lots of skills.
I just want to know why should anyone play Thief, just for the no-cd basic skills?
It won’t tank better than a guardian, it won’t deal more dps than a warrior, it won’t stealth better than a scrapper, what can he do better than others?
I know it has a somewhat better movement capability, that’s cool for pvp (I guess), but for a PvE player the Thief doesn’t offer anything special or unique, it’s just a “little of everything” class.
Hey!
I haven’t played for a long while,
I made a Thief almost 3 years ago and I used to love it,
then my little brother kept playing it a couple of months ago,
(he got bored pretty fast lol)
but there’s something that I’m quite not understanding right now.
As you can see on the official site: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/thief/
What makes the Thief unique are Initiative and Stealth.
This are supposed to be what define the Thief as a class.
But after checking the wiki for a couple seconds I see that now Rangers, Mesmers, Engineers, Druids and Scrappers can use stealth skills too?
I mean, what? Then what makes the Thief feel unique now is only the Initiative system?
I mean that’s cool but a thief is supposed to be the class that hides in the shadows and stuff, not an engineer or a druid..
Not only that but Scrapper gets even better Stealth that Thief?
I just wanted to ask because I don’t get what’s the point of playing Thief now.
Thanks for reading!
They shouldn’t be time gated, and no other item should either.
It’s just a very cheap way to slow down progress,
if you want to make something harder to achieve,
just add more difficulty to it, not a delay,
it just makes the progress feel boring.
Imagine you need, let’s say.. 40 of them,
is getting 1 a day for 40 days really something fun to do?
Will it feel like you did something awesome once you complete the 40 days?
No, it will just feel like you had to wait an eternity.
Hi all,
I stopped playing about a year ago,
just wanted to know what the state of thief is right now on the game,
is it still viable on pvp at least as a roamer?
Is it viable at all on pve like for dungeons/raids?
Same question for wvw
And if I buy a node, will it be available on all home instances?
As the title says,
I’m a human but I like the asura’s home instance a lot more.
hope not. it’s a failed game mode. i hope they re-allocated resources to creating more unique conquest maps, with different mechanics.
Failed game mode? Why?
I have more fun playing stronghold than conquest.
Maybe on a competitive point of view you are right,
but in that case they should do the same with pve,
dungeons, fractals, raids, etc.
Not all game modes have to be focused on being competitive,
they can be focused on being fun too. Don’t you think?
What about Ranked do you want?
Is it standard models?
The type of matchmaking?
Is it the map selection? Now that the maps are updated, is this still an issue?
Do you want to climb the ladder until the the season resets? The ladder and match making would be nice.
I feel like 24/7 ladder would create a lot of burnout. Plus there wouldn’t be time for big balance patches to settle before the season starts.
Regarding matchmaking, it seems that two camps are developing. What about ranked matchmaking do you prefer over unranked?
This is just my personal opinion:
You (ANet) should develop the balance patches while the season is on going and have a team of both devs and “pro” players testing them on a separate testing server.
Having an entire month without being able to play on a real competitive environment is just terrible for the game, “pro” players loose consistency and as for more casual players or new players; they’ll be stuck with amber for a month which I know doesn’t mean anything, but it sure will demotivate some of them. Not to mention a good amount of people wants to get their Ascension wings and won’t be able to do so until the new season hits, so if that’s really important to them, they won’t play until the new season starts.
I used to play with 3 friends all the time, but now I have to play alone because they don’t want to play unranked, they prefer to just wait until the new season starts. As I said, this can’t be good to the game, I’m getting bored really fast this way, and I think the goal for every game is just the opposite, why would I play if it’s not fun?
As the title says,
will there be more maps? and if so, do we know when would this happen?
??? you’re sick of playing a classes role in a team based pvp competitive game mode? like every other game? We are the mobility class. we weren’t forced into it, it’s what we are. If you’re sick of the role play another class that has a different role. Don’t complain that you’re tired of a classes play style because it fits a role you aren’t particularly happy with.
I would say that for most of the new players that are rolling thief what you say doesn’t apply, Anet fails to explain the role of thieves miserably (at least on the website, wiki, class selection, etc) and I think a lot of new players make thieves expecting the class to be way different.
Season 3 should be in 1 month from now.
Does that mean I’ll be Amber until the new Season starts?
So I haven’t played Pvp since the ranks got implemented,
and now that S2 is over do I have to wait till Season 3 to start raising my rank?
And when is S3 actually starting?
Maybe you don’t like it because you didn’t grew up playing that kind of games,
there’s a lot of people in here that really enjoy retro gaming, and SAB is a great way to get that nostalgia feel inside their favorite “modern” game.
If you don’t like it, fine, don’t play it. Is that simple, no need to make forum threads.
Asking for something not to be implemented just because you don’t want to play it is just being a child. Is like; “please don’t make Chronomancer because I don’t like playing Mesmer and I prefer that all of you people work on something that I do like.”
“I want to play my guardian in PvP. But it sucks”
Seriously?
If what the high costs are supposed to do is make the upgrades take more time,
then just add a timer (like influence upgrades had before) and thats it.
Lower costs, but wait some time until it is upgraded.
That’s the best way for it to work the same way for small and big guild.
Guild hall costs are insane for small guilds
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: El Psy Congroo.7965
As I said in a lot of similar posts, the costs are indeed insane.
But not all of them, I think the 100 gold to claim the hall is okay.
And the costs for First part of restorations are fine as well (arena is not expensive, but time consuming).
The problem are Second and Third part of Restorations,
the costs increase at such a huge rate that it becomes impossible for small guild.
If you have problems beating a Thief,
then you don’t know how to play, as simple as that, no matter what class I play the easier target is always the Thief, so just practice a little bit before posting on the forums.
You can dodge, block, get invulnerability or blind just like any other class.
Thieves don’t have blocks, and you can kill them while on stealth.
At least daredevil is playable,
I would rather prefer DH being nerfed than Thief being buffed.
Same as why africans and austrailians cant have a server they have to open 3 so you could wvw aswell bud.
Not really, it could be considered an “American” server and play against other North American servers. It wouldn’t be that different than Baruch on EU (Spanish Server).
Why do small guilds feel so put upon by inviting people to join them?
I have a Latin American social Guild.
There is not much latin people, and most of them are on the “big” latin guilds.
I don’t know about the rest, but finding people for my guild is difficult.
Also why should we invite other people just to get the content we paid for?
What if we want a friend or family only guild? It’s not my case, but it should be taken in consideration.Small guilds are like the parties that kick people out for not strictly following the zerk meta.
Not really, we don’t have stupid requirements.
We don’t ask for rep, play specific modes, nothing like that.
Just the fact that they speak spanish, because we are a latin guild.
But being that theres few latin people, and there are some big guilds,
they prefer to be there, it’s nothing complicated really.
That’s why small guilds most of the time are just friends or family members.
Because otherwise they would have just joined a big guild.

There is not kitten possible way that we can gather 200 kegs and 300 mugs for the FIRST upgrade.
Our guild completed the tavern last night, but were sad to see that all the upgrades after for it cost more kegs and mugs
Yeah, I know.
ArenaNet doesn’t care at all about small guilds.
There’s only 3-4 people on my guild that actually tried to gather the materials and stuff, but we wont be able to get all the kegs and mugs. Even 10 and 50 was a lot for us.
Same here, and I too feel not only dissapointed but scammed.
Because they said they were going to take small guild into consideration.
So I bought the expansion, and surprise; they didn’t.
Just a thought.
If the current system is designed for 500 players. and your guild is 100 on roster.
Would you agree if materials come at a 20% cost of normal, BUT with aetherium being mined 500% slower? aka 5 minutes on first tier for 1
I think if the point is just to make upgrades take more time,
a timer (just like the old influence upgrades had) would be fine.
That or just raise the favor costs.
But yeah, I would be fine with your alternative.
No, the guild halls are intended for everyone (you can gather whatever you need, no gold necessary save for some reagents, I think). What they are NOT intended for is breezing through the upgrades in a few weeks. There was a post about it mentioning a six-month time frame for average guilds. So adjust for guild size, but it is doable.
Those costs seem steep for smaller guilds, but they are there (along with the atherium time gate) to keep huge guilds from building guild halls in days.
Sound more like 6 months for the FIRST upgrade in our case.
I mean, don’t you think that’s ridiculous?
We paid to have a Guild Hall, not a useless map with nothing to do on it.
You can’t just expect the costs to be the same for a big and a small guild.
And by costs I don’t just mean gold, but materials itself.
Of course if 500 people donate 6 gold is easy as kitten,
but for 6 people it would be 500 gold, and that is ridiculous.
(edited by El Psy Congroo.7965)
We get that theres people that don’t want this because of it being a way for bigger guild to xploit, but I mean come on.. what can we (small guilds) do about it?
There is not kitten possible way that we can gather 200 kegs and 300 mugs for the FIRST upgrade. Costs are just ridiculous, there’s no point for a small guild to have a hall.
And that is depressing considering I got the expansion just because I thought having a guild hall for our small guild was going to be awesome. (Big mistake)
So, we are a small Guild and we’ve been working our kittens to gather all the materials for the Tavern restoration (1) and now that we are almost done I’ve seen the list of materials for the 2nd part on the wiki, and it is totally and horrifyingly ridiculous.
I mean 10 Empty Kegs were difficult to us (we are like 6 people with the expansion and another 6 without it, and a bunch of mostly non representative members).
But 200!? and kitten 300 mugs? I mean thats more than 3000 gold.
The price of a legendary weapon just for the FIRST upgrade?
I mean.. come on.. so small guilds have no way to make even the first upgrade?
I know we aren’t suppose to rush the upgrades and stuff, but I mean at least a single upgrade would be nice.. we can’t do anything in our hall, whats the point..
Probably we could gather all the materials, but being totally real it would take lots of months and most people would prefer just move to a bigger guild.
So is that what’s intended with guild halls? No more small guilds?
I agree, I’ve got a small guild too and we tried yesterday like 6 times (we were 4 people) and we couldn’t even kill a single maw. We could have tho if at least the time limit would’ve been longer.
So I’m leader of a small guild,
and we attempted to claim gilded hollow tonight,
we were only 4 and got destroyed, we couldn’t kill even a single Maw.
Would you gave us some Tips on how to do it?
Like if we would ask for help to random players, how much players would be good?
Or is there an easier way to do it just the 4 of us?
So HoT is here,
has this been implemented yet or are you at least working on it?
So I’m Leader of a Small Guild (70 Members) and I’ve been member of various Guilds and I’ve experienced the same situation in almost all of them, which is depending on an external site to properly (and organized) discuss topics related to the Guild itself, like Facebook Groups or Guild Forums created by the members.
I think it would be amazing to have a proper way to do this in-game, adding a new tab to the Guild Menu: Forums.
There members with the proper permissions could create and reply to topics.
Ideally having support for youtube videos, images, polls, urls, etc.
This way all members could easily participate on discussions related to their guilds, without having to get off-game and join some group or forum externally (which is also something a lot of people don’t like to do, because of not wanting to share their public information; facebook profiles).
If this has already been rejected, then at least a good starting point would be enabling url redirections on guild chat or guild daily message, so that at least we could properly redirect people to our own forums.

So now that Marauder stats have been added,
where/how can I get Exotic Armor with this Stats?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Totally agree with OP, there’s just no reason for me to play the new maps.
What happens if you pay the 100 gold and then fail to claim the hall?
Or you can’t “fail”? If you can; do you have to pay 100 more gold?
Well that was HoT for me then,
the only reason for me to explore the new maps and masteries was to eventually complete all the Hero Challenges and completely unlock my Elite Spec,
now I’ll have it free without even seeing the 3rd map yet, no sense of rewarding experience anymore.
This is ridiculous, the new content is supposed to be challenging but you immediately nerf it because some minority of casual players ask for it? Ridiculous.
so when you buy the 2k gems thingy do you unlock all the immortal weapons or only one of them? and is that the only way to get them?
Only one, and no idea if there’s other way.
