Try looking up different servers on http://www.gw2stuff.com/events . I find it really useful on my home server, and it seems to have all of them. Hope it helps!!

I’ve had this happen to me as well on several occasions. And one evening, I even had my fellow party member kicked out automatically. Repeatedly. So he’d join, get kicked, I’d re-invited, and so on and so forth.
So is submitting a ticket the only solution??

Race: Sylvari
Gender: Female
Profession: Elementalist
Armor: Cultural T1 (transmutated)
Sorry, the screenshot isn’t all that great, but I’ve noticed that the headpiece placement for my cultural armor (tier one) on my sylvari isn’t ideal. This is only during the “downed” state, it’s perfectly fine otherwise. Definitely a minor bug, but I thought I’d post it here, just in case.

I like the child Gwen mini pet idea, that’s definitely something I’d be interested in (aaahhh, for the good old pre-Searing days!…).

Oh my gosh, that’s brilliant!! I would love to attend, time zones permitting (I’m on GMT+4), heck I might even get up in the middle of the night for this!

From what I’ve read in the crafting forums (which are rampant with threads on crafting for a legendary, using the Mystic Forge, etc), the general consensus seems to be “every little bit helps”, and that even an extra 1% in magic find can help.
But of course, I’m no where near getting a legendary, and really don’t expect to be anytime soon, if ever. So what do I know?
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I definitely recommend taking a look at this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Profession-Selection-Guide/first#post1539689
It has tons of great insights on the various professions, on the pro’s and con’s, things that can be more or less delicate to handle depending on the profession.
In the end, it’s not that it doesn’t matter, but each profession has different strengths, and will be able to tackle situations, but in a different manner. It’s going to up to you to “learn” the cogs and gears of a profession, and tweak it out to suit your playstyle. Trial and error, really. My main is my Sylvari Elementalist, the only character I hit 80 with, and I’ve gone through various builds for her, scepter/focus, scepter/dagger, dagger/focus, dagger/dagger, and now I’m back to scepter/focus. And I’ve done alright, more or less (I won’t say I never die, but hey, it happens to all of us, right?).
Just try the profession out for 15 levels or so, or even take it out to WvW where you’re leveled to 80, in order to get a feel for it.
In the end, it really depends what you’re in the mood for. Do you want to conjure fire and brimstone or ice or lighting with an elementalist? Do you want to run around, bow in hand, charming beasts as you go? Or are you more into fast combat, stabbing and dodging, and stepping into shadows at a moment’s notice?
I’ll agree with Labyrinth, though, I’m now leveling my ranger, and I am loving her.
And same goes for me, I play on Northern Shiverpeaks, so look me up in game with that’s your sever.

dungeon tokens wouldn’t be too useful as max/stack is only 250.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that already the case for other materials as well??
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Welcome to GW2!! I’m going to second what Uther said, read that post!! That “OMG, if you only knew this” thread is absolute gold. It has tons of little tips which took me weeks to figure out (oh goodness, the “deposit all collectibles” button, I didn’t figure that out for moooooonths!), and which are incredibly useful. Other than that, don’t be afraid to go out and experiment, and ask for help in map chat. People are usually pretty nice and will gladly explain stuff, or come out to help with a skill challenge or help out with a tricky vista point. Just go out, explore (even exploring gives you XP), and just plain enjoy yourself!
I don’t know what server you’re playing on, but if you’re on Northern Shiverpeaks, don’t hesitate to look me up.
And also consider joining up the “Operation Union – Bringing Players Together”.

Just chiming in to say that I too banged my head against the keyboard when I used my first transmutation stone. I had no idea you had to click on the different parts for it to work, it just isn’t all that self-explanatory!!
Also, the items don’t have to be in your bag, you can be wearing one when you transmute, I’ve done it before. And regarding StinVec’s explanation, you can’t use basic transmutation stones for level 80 gear, you have to use fine transmutation stones which you get mostly in the gem store (a guildmate told me she found some in a chest, but I’ve never had any drop for me).
Happy transmuting!
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Agreed with Curuniel, saying what server you’re on would definitely help.
I’m on Northern Shiverpeaks and have odd playing hours, so I’m always willing to explore with some company.
(and yes, give the Operation Union a try)

And no, you do not get further laurels from completing more than 5 daily achievement categories (you only get 1 daily box a day)
You don’t get extra laurels, but you do get extra XP for every other goal accomplished, so I wouldn’t forgo completing them entirely.
Say you finished your daily by doing Shiverpeaks killer, Ascalonian killer, Gatherer, Dodger and Kill variety. Well go ahead and do the Crafter too, you may not get a laurel, but you’ll get a bit of XP. And every little bit helps, right?
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I agree wholeheartedly. As it is, I have a small amount of each currency, and it’s just taking up space. Thank you for explaining the problem so clearly, I really hope ArenaNet will take notice.
Also, Kaotiktheory’s suggestion about converting currencies isn’t a bad one. I’d gladly trade in the badges of honor I got for exploring the WvWvW areas for laurels, dungeon tokens or karm.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I agree!! For the life of me, I don’t understand why, when I hit “deposit all collectibles”, it’ll drop planks, ingots, onions, jewels, but not doubloons, dowels or badges! (And don’t get me started on chef ingredients, my bank is full of those!) It would be so nice if we could put those in the collectibles as well…
(Incidentally, maybe this should be in the Suggestions forums?)

Sounds like a glitch. I didn’t finish the monthly for February, and I can assure you that mine did reset and I did lose my progress with it. It makes sense since the objectives change now (for example, there was a dungeon completion last month, which is absent now in March). So yeah, I’d get those monthlies done in the weeks to come.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I agree wholeheartedly! Dyes should be unlocked across all characters. Now what I’m thinking is that there would less money coming into the coffers since people would buy less dyes (just one Celestial dye instead of five or six or how many characters you have). The solution? Up the prices of dyes (by a 5 factor to keep it “fair” for people who didn’t unlock extra slots).

You’re going to have to level your crafting skill a bit, there’s no going around that. But not all that much, really, level 50’ish or so should suffice. Items like Moogooloo Spear, Charr Greatsword, Charr Cleaver, Charr Dagger, and Charr Sword will count towards the monthly (and if you search “master” in the items you can craft, they’ll show up when you hit a sufficient level). They use up tier 1 materials too, so it shouldn’t be too pricey.

Wow, I’ve just come across this, and I really wish I had read it a few months back!! Very concise, complete, nicely done!!
Also, Sima, I particularly love the Sylvari storyline, and the Charr is a close second (contending with the Asura), but in the end, it’s really a matter of taste, I guess (I guess, because I haven’t really gotten to know all the racial skills of the Asura and Charr yet).

I’d also suggest some seemingly obvious stuff like ensuring that your gear is repaired, and that you swapping out for better gear as you go (perhaps even buying some at times to get over a lull in the leveling). I’m suggesting it because it happened to me, I kept using not-so-great gear. But yeah, dodging and moving around are definitely a must, you certainly can’t sit still in GW2, unlike other MMOs (I’m told). Good luck, I’d even suggest asking for help from guildmates or even people on the map (a lot of people I’ve stumbled upon are helpful) to figure out where you’re going wrong.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Guess I got lucky the first time , I’ve been getting errors since as well. What a shame, it looked great, complete, gorgeous. Thanks for the alternative, Elentari.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I’ve been playing GW2 since mid-October, and I love it! I’d been playing GW1 for years, and pretty much knew I’d get GW2 eventually, but I resisted, because I just knew I would be playing only that for weeks and months to come! Which is exactly what happened. I just love the art design, the distinct different races with their defined personalities and look. The music is absolutely gorgeous as well (but that’s no surprise, I’ve been a fan of Jeremy Soule for years).
I enjoyed playing and chatting with my guildmates as well. I absolutely adore that there isn’t a subscription, I much prefer a game that isn’t putting pressure on me to play. The WvWvW was definitely a nice surprise, even though I still prefer PvE.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
For starters, you have to stop creating and playing alts. Just pick one you’re having fun with (why not the warrior, or the guardian), and stick to it. I started playing mi-October, and my first character hit 80 last night (a Sylvari Elementalist). What I did, basically, was map completion. I went from one zone to the next, doing all hearts, all vistas, all points of interests. I also try to do the daily every day. I craft. That’s pretty much it. I did the story also, but by the time I hit 80, my story was around 48, no further. Also, try to hunt in groups, do events, that makes it more fun.
Good luck!

I agree! The first character I rolled, my main character, was a Sylvari Elementalist, and I just love her to pieces. I fell in love with the Sylvari, the lore, their home (the Grove is just absolutely gorgeous, wow)… I remember emerging from the first mission and just wandering around the Grove and Caledon Forest, in utter wonderment. So yes, thank you for the Sylvari!
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I’m not sure, but I have noticed that “larger” races, such as the Norn and the Charr run “slower” than smaller races, like the Sylvari and especially the Asura. Just a theory, but I think they did that to have everyone moving more or less at the same speed. It’s like that whole “longer legs, bigger strides” thing. shrug Just my two cents.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I played GW1 a few years back, and we’d been taught to hate the Charr in that game. When I heard they were playable, I was initially skeptical at best. Play as a Charr? Those savage, uncivilized, monstrous beasts?!? Never! (typical racist human reaction, right?)
And then, I got curious. We fear what we don’t know, so I set out to get to know the Charr race. And they sure haven’t disappointed! I was amazed by the Black Citadel, by their resilience. And they have so many great lines, it’s hard not to enjoy them (one of my favorites is the classic merchant’s “you break, I break you”, never get tired of that one). So yeah, my female Charr Guardian is rapidly becoming one of my favorite characters (her voicing is pretty well done, too).
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Oh wow, this site is so awesome!!!! Thank you so much for all your hard work, Kestrel!!!
(and it’s working just fine for me)
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Oh wow, thanks for posting this, Runeblade, I hadn’t seen this guide before, looks very complete!!!
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I’m going to second Guardian, it’s very well balanced, but I’m also having a lot of fun with my thief (although some people say the thief is a bit squishy, and harder to advance). Mesmer is also very versatile, I’m told, but I haven’t leveled mine much.
I forgot to mention the Elementalist which is my main character, and the one I’ve played the most. I’ve tried scepter and focus, scepter and dagger, dagger and focus, dagger and dagger, and all playstyles are fun. Plus, you have the different attunements if you want to switch tactics. Definitely give the Elementalist a try.

but we have children playing here
As I recall, the ESRB rating for Guild Wars 2 is T. For Teen.
So it’s okay to kill other living creatures (like people in WvW?) but not rabbits?
You can pick your daily now, no one’s forcing you to do it. I will gladly pick the ambient killer, as it gets done quicker, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to go out and slaughter kittens. It’s just a game!
Edit: Curses! Ninja’d by Arrow Storm!
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Right!! I’d forgotten that they also use the GW1 soundtrack, and hadn’t thought to listen to that one. Happy listening.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Any plans of making an iOS version?
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
There are a few tracks playing in the Shiverpeaks. The one I can think that have violin playing in it are “Call of the Raven”. Other tracks that play in the Shiverpeaks are “Bear’s Spirit”, “Eir’s Solitude”, “Lornar’s Pass” and “The Shiverpeaks”, but it’s mostly flute or piano in those for the main theme.
A quick YouTube search will probably help you find out which one it is. Hope you find what you’re looking for!
Jeremy Soule’s work on the GW2 OST is just amaaaaaazing!

Agreed!! I like bringing my mini griffon along, but I always end up sending him back to the bank because of the incredibly useful “deposit all collectibles” feature (please don’t remove that, it’s the best feature ever). It’d be great if we could equip a mini pet, like we do an accessory.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Also, just bide your time, and wait for the maps to rotate.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
I agree, it was fun having a guild hall in GW1, and I’d like to see the idea repeated here. It doesn’t have to be a huge, just a little corner to congregate, and show off our guild’s achievements.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
That’s not a bad idea, I concur. I’m loyal to a single guild, represent them 24/7, group up with guildmates, etc. I guess my guild benefits from my loyalty, though, and in turn, I benefit from the bonuses they put out.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I was looking for the lyrics, and kept finding different versions on different sites. I’m going with “eyes close”, that’s what I’m hearing and it’s consistent with the second part of the line.
Thanks again!
