All these are FPS killers for less robust machines:
-Shaders
-Reflection
-Anti-Aliasing
-Shadows
-Post Processing
-Ambient Occlusion
-Texture Filtering
I run the game in Wine on Linux, I keep the game looking good but I do LOWER the above settings, some are off: reflections, shadows, for example…
OK, but shouldn’t that mean that a character’s XP after 80 is going somewhere on roll over of the XP bar?
Only if you set one of the mastery tracks active to train.
Hmmm, it’s set the way my Necro had it, all the Fractal stuff is done, it’s “stuck” on Noblisse Oblige" if I recall (it’s checked, needs like three more points)
cause of lvling up masteries.
Every mastery have its own xp bar.
OK, but shouldn’t that mean that a character’s XP after 80 is going somewhere on roll over of the XP bar?
Long story short, I played GW2 for almost 2 years after release, then quit -I have now come back on a new account (lost access to original one)…
So, I have 3 Instant Level 80 characters currently and I can’t make any sense of why/how the XP works after hitting 80.
My Necro:
- insta-80’d
- did first chapter of HoT
- Masteries were unlocked
- XP bar is active in Central Tyria and Maguuma
My Revenenant:
- insta-80’d
- did first chapter of HoT
- Masteries were unlocked (via Necro, I assume)
- XP bar is NOT active in Central Tyria, only in Maguuma
My Ranger:
- insta-80’d
-not done anything further at the moment
My intention is to follow the personal stories on through each Living World Season and Expansion content in chronological order -with the obvious exception of unlocking Mastery Points.
What am I not understanding?
I use the 32-bit client, so I’m going to see if it works during the Beta Weekend. If not, I’ll just have to use the 64-bit client.
I really prefer the 32-bit client, though.
Why “prefer” the 32 bit client? I mean, by what actual standard do you “prefer” that older client?
The 64bit client will utilize your system’s resources in (at the very least) a marginally better manner, for this reason alone, it’s a good move.
I run the 64bit client on my Linux installation with no issues which considering everything, is fairly amazing.
Well, granted, it is a bit messy, but see, once we kill and/or eliminate (with extreme righteous prejudice) all the “bad elements” then at that time, Tyria will truly know peace and unity. That’s the plan anyway. Just like the real world, really.
The Nightmare Court speaks to the conceit underlying “the Dream”.
After all, “Everything has a right to grow”…
lmao.
Discord has speech to text support as well if I am not mistaken…
But yes, limitations exist, as in all things.
I’m thinking Dailies were supposed to fulfill this “reward track” need. But I must admit, I don’t like the daily system now when I trying to level my low level characters -most of the stuff just doesn’t coincide with what and where my lowbies are involved with at the moment.
OK, I started back in GW2 a few weeks ago, I love the game and I am enjoying it but for a few bumps in the road which can often seem so jarring in an otherwise smooth and immersive game.
The biggies for me concern the new character leveling experience and skill gating.
It really seems to be a disjointed mess.
- I made the mistake of rolling a new Revenant…
The class seems to be lacking the basic low level stuff like underwater skills like healing and other abilities.
I later found out this issue is a long standing deficiency in the class. OK…
- What the heck happened to Traits?
Where once we had freedom and some early on specialization…now it’s just a series of barriers to overcome in a very slow and plodding manner. No, tool-tips anymore for Trait lines and what had once been an easy to use interface is a clunky mess of lists and lockouts.
- Level 80 boost implementation…
(Yes, I succumbed and used it on my baby Necromancer because I had previously leveled two to level cap on my long dead account)
OK, so I boost a Necromancer to 80…intending to play him through the entire Personal Story and content releases in chronological order…EXCEPT I have to jump ahead to HoT to enable Mastery Level unlock otherwise all my progress for that character is on hold until I get to HoT.
I mean, all that XP is going down the bit bucket if I don’t have Mastery unlocked, right?
But, why make the experience so disjointed and thus encourage players to NOT want to do the content in chronological order?
- New character, regular leveling experience
It’s mostly fun but the skill gating and unlocks are irritating as hell:
I miss being able to unlock weapon skills by using the weapon.
Look, I understand, you need gating, but GW2 has gone way overboard on this -almost to the point where GW2 could dispense with vertical leveling entirely and just make the game completely horizontal progression based.
Too soon for me to say about Holosmith -BUT it doesn’t seem to “fit” a Charr Engineer as much as Asura…that’s what struck me, anyone else?
I have preordered the ultimate edition since there was a 4k gems going with it. However, I did not received the 4k gems after the transaction, only the skins and identity repair kit. Is it supposed to only be available at release unlike the rest?
Having recently made the HOT purchase, I can tell you there is some delay in getting the gems…the same may happen for PoF as well.
Settings?
Using SuperSample AA by any chance? That is usually an FPS killer for any PC
ANet won’t take my money!

Anyone else getting an error? I tried on two different machines.
I really like the Sanctuary but for the inconvenience of return, I could just map to a big city. For some silly reason I assumed, (yes, I did just that!) using the Pass again would take me back to my original location. Alas, no.
I can’t comprehend why ANet can’t at least give us the basic heal ability, o.O
Isn’t Orr still a lot of underwater stuff?
A year gone by…I just started the game…my level 15 Revenant has no underwater heal or utility skills. OK I can kill a Veteran mob without healing, but come on! How many levels will it be before I get all my skills?
