Need recommendations for new condition builds

Pure condition builds are awful for PvE. Period. Thanks to the bleed cap set at 25 and being shared. There’s a post somewhere where Colin acknowledges this and basically says they don’t ever plan on fixing it due to the way their servers handle conditions. (in a round-about “professional” way of course) if bleed caps were increased or changed so that each player could have their own stacks it would either be too overpowered or cost too much bandwidth.

So essentially, by being a “conditionmancer” you are gimping yourself in a PvE environment where burst is king.

PvP and WvW are entirely different stories of course.

Catering to Casuals is Ruining GW2

Just let the casuals have their game. Most of the people who actually want a challenge and to be rewarded for their time and effort accordingly have already left. This game isn’t hurting anything by existing for casuals, I’m sure most future developers have seen the outcome and will learn a lot from this game. If all they want to do is have “fun” in their glorified 3D chat room with micro-transactions to pimp out their avatar (which is essentially what this game is ) then let em’. Hopefully it will steer them clear of games coming out in the future so we won’t have to deal with dumbed down gameplay and handouts due to their “I want I want I want but I don’t want to play that much” whining.

I agree with you and I feel the same way, but then again I know some people enjoy this sort of game and maybe its just not for me or people like us. The whole idea behind this game seems to assume that the person playing is just looking to goof around, explore and have fun with “friends” there’s no skill involved in anything, no vertical progression. Everything is mostly dress-up and do fun things like dance and look at scenery. I can see how that would appeal to some people..years ago I could really get into games like these but not so much anymore.

I prefer WoW honestly. It’s not the funnest game out there but I prefer the challenge that heroic raids give. I enjoy pushing my numbers and being as effective as possible, learning fights/coordinating/etc. I remember when I first started doing explorable mode dungeons in GW2, I had no idea what I was doing but it really didn’t matter. I just pressed 1 on enemies and if I died…so what, I would just be rez’d eventually or the rest of my group could just 2 man it. It just seems like nothing in this game matters except having “fun” and since that word is purely subjective it’s to each-his-own. I enjoyed leveling but there’s only so much “Exploring and socializing” I can do before it starts to seem more like a 3D chat room with a shallow combat system attached than a video game.

Class balance and dungeon tweaking so that the game does not revolve around “Zerk or go home” trait and skill tweaking so that classes can have more than 2 specific builds that are effective. The combat system is shallow as is due to the lack of roles and the press 1 to win dungeon mechanics. The overwhelming amount of kitten traits, stats, and abilities as well as absolutely zero balance between classes only makes it worse. The game is boring because the combat is boring, the combat is boring because using anything but zerker gear is purposefully gimping yourself in exchange for taking hits that are already avoidable by dodging or using utility abilities that can all be out-classed by a single Guardian ability (Aegis)

A plea to balance classes in dungeons/fotm

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Energumenus.5319

Energumenus.5319

It’s a balance issue. Some classes bring more to the table in terms of DPS and utility and others bring little to nothing and are more of a liability or dead weight. Warriors for instance offer the best DPS in the game in dungeons while also having innate tanky-ness and great utility. Guardians are the undisputed kings of utility in Dungeons. Mesmers are more or less used as fluff for the Warriors through time-warp, feedback is also a really great utility skill.

While Necromancers suffer from the bleed cap, poor minion A.I, and all-around lack-luster traits and skills. A full glass cannon power necromancer will still do pitiful damage in comparison to a glass cannon warrior and in a game where bosses and mobs are more or less just gigantic damage sponges, and there is no “Trinity”, groups tend to prefer more dps.

Its the same in WvW and PvP. Any class that’s not a Mesmer, Thief or Ele is basically just fodder for the above classes.

Class balance is essentially non-existent in this game.

Asking for opinions about Necros on the Necro class forum will most likely net you some pretty biased responses. The fact is (and I’m pretty sure it was mentioned in this thread) is that at an equal skill level, a Warrior/Guardian/Mesmer will outshine a Necromancer in pretty much everything. Even full glass cannon with daggers, despite what others might say, a Warrior will put out FAR better numbers. The bleed cap makes bleed centric necros very lackluster, as most other classes in the game stack bleeds passively as well as the fact that there are some things that can’t bleed like objects that need to be destroyed, making you essentially useless when trying to deal with say, the burrows in AC. As for utility there are a few things that are good such as the signet that lets you rez people in an area..but again, Mesmers, Guardians, Ele’s/etc have far more to bring to the table in terms of utility. Pretty much we have some decent tools and decent dps, but other classes have amazing tools and/or amazing dps.

If your main focus is “farming”, achieving wealth through drops, being showered endlessly with meaningful loot then I’d suggest staying away from any game with a cash shop that allows the purchasing of in-game currency. (like GW2) As stated many, MANY times, this is the sole reason for the lack of meaningful loot and worthwhile drops in this game. It is also the reason you’re constantly seeing drops and gold/item acquisition being tuned and in most cases “nerfed.” It won’t change so long as they offer a means of exchanging gems for gold so I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Yes its TP manipulation. “playing the AH” or whatever you want to call it. AH campers and manipulators are common in every mmo but more prominent in gw2 because that or buying gold is literally the only way to make decent amounts of currency in this game thanks to drop “tuning” to shoehorn people into the gem store. The disparity between these TP manipulators and regular players in terms of wealth is almost nauseating.

This is happening for any armor on human females that goes below the belly button, Where most other chest armor pieces usually end there is a seam on the actual character model that you can see through on lower shader details and on higher shader details causes there to be a line that resembles a scar or something where the seam is. I finally got the look I wanted for my necromancer today and it included the Whispers light armor leggings and I got this bug. Now I’m just logging into the game to see this and then closing it out. I really don’t want to even play anymore and seeing as how this latest update didn’t address the issue and most threads on it are months old I doubt they care.

One of the best monks around.

That being said I don’t really do the competitive games these days. It just seems like theres too many kids and too many ways to BM. Maybe its the rose tinted goggles but back in my GW1 days there were no “finisher moves” you could use to further humiliate someone whos already downed. Most defeats were honorable and that was that. Now you have “SwAGdanksm0krXxX” running around 2 shotting people on his thief and then using whatever means possible to make sure “they are mad bro.” just not my cup of tea and seems it attracts the immature crowd.

Energumenus.5319

The solution is pretty simple. Class balance.

Why do people want 4 warrior + 1 mesmer for CoF? Because warriors do the most damage in PvE at the moment. Why do people prefer “heavies”? Because this game has no Trinity therefore classes that wear heavy armor are already at an advantage before even factoring in their usefulness and when you do that, it just solidifies their spot as the kings of PvE because the 2 classes who wear heavy armor are also 2 of the best classes to bring to a dungeon at the moment.

Wouldn’t work. People would still flock to the areas where its most efficient. The reason you listed isn’t the only reason people farm orr. Its also because the tunnel events spawn very frequently and are very close and also provide a high density of mobs because most people are there. Making mobs in a level 15 zone drop level 80 loot won’t make people come to that zone and do random DE’s either by themselves or with maybe 1 other person because the rewards would be extremely lacking compared to doing a DE in orr with 20+ other people. To be honest I’m quite interested in how they are going to go about “strengthening” the world because to me it seems like an impossible task.

I’ve dropped my necro and engineer in favor of a warrior. For PvE they are simply the best class in the game. You can use another class but why drive a beat up station wagon when you can drive a Ferrari?

Warriors do the most DPS in the game (PvE) while ALSO having the highest health pool, while ALSO being able to wear heavy armor while ALSO having the luxury of doing some the best (if not the most) single target dps from RANGE. Arguably the best utility due to banner spam and the list just goes on. Class balance in this game in dire. Warriors are overplayed because they are overpowered. Why do you see "LF3M warriors for <insert speed run here> on gw2lfg? Theres a reason and its not because people just think warriors look cool.

They should also install bathrooms in every major city and outpost and require every character to eat and drink several times a day and if you do not visit a restroom you will get an overburdened debuff that reduces your movement speed by 80%. Seriously. Its absolutely ridiculous that our characters can survive without having to eat or use the bathroom. Get with it arenanet.

The problem with necromancers is that they exist in this game. A master of outlasting and wearing an enemy down slowly in a burst centric game where most things in PvE one shot you and things in PvP do almost the same. I’d say don’t expect any balancing anytime soon because its more than just “buffing” the class is flawed on a conceptual level, just like engineers.

The next patch will make or break for me. There is just sooo many things broken and wrong with the game right now, I find myself logging in and then logging out minutes later. Everyone says that Tarnished Coast is a super populated servers and one of the most busy but I don’t see that at all. It’s no more busy than my last server which was essentially dead. That should tell you something. The people who say “Oh thats because everyone is either in fractals/dungeons or WvW” well, I doubt that’s true because when I go into WvW there’s about 4 people there at any given time and I rarely see anyone in any zone or looking for dungeon groups. I doubt the entire population on a server is in fractals and dungeons 24/7.

I finally got the gear for this build and I kinda wish I hadn’t. The bleed cap is more than an issue, it’s a HUGE problem. Almost every class can stack bleeds and if there’s 1 (just one) other person in your group who makes use of bleeds you are essentially worthless because with the build you offer no other forms of damage other than the lackluster scepter auto and 2 ability. Condition removal in PvP IS a continuous and frequent thing. Shake it off has an extremely short cooldown and that’s just one ability on one class.

I liked the build originally because of the survivability and damage but unfortunately, unless you roll in specific type of group with no one else using bleeds it is extremely lackluster and in PvP its a joke due to conditions constantly being removed.

I’m now wondering if there’s another build I can use the gear for but I don’t think there is. Shelfing it for now until Arenanet works on some class balancing (which it doesn’t look like they are too interested in) and going for a pure power build.

Big health, Big armor, BIG damage

Stellar class balancing on Arenanet’s part. Warriors and Guardians are the king’s of PvE. Gw2lfg.com is full of “LF WARRIORS/GUARDIANS ONLY” do dungeons with any other class and you’re gimping yourself. It will stay that way too thanks to the lack of trinity. Why play a squishy class and do damage when you can play a durable class and do more.

"Experienced Only"

Energumenus.5319

This isn’t a problem exclusive to this game. I’ve played a lot of MMO’s over the years and this issue has been in almost every one of them. “How are you supposed to get experience if you can’t join a group because they only allow experienced players?” the common solution to that seems to be to either start your own group or drag a bunch of friends into the dungeon.

In my experience though, just lying does the trick. For instance in WoW I made pretty extensive use of the fake achievement addon to join these “must have everything you need from the raid and know it inside out to join!” groups. In most cases you will be fine if you have half a brain. Now if you join one of these groups and act like a complete kitten or draw attention to the fact that you have no idea what you’re doing then yes, you will most likely be kicked.

The bigger problem in this game is class balance disallowing you to join groups simply because Warriors and Guardians bring so much more than any other class to the table. Heavy armor, probably the most damage in the game because enemies just stand in hundred blades all day, the most health, etc.

Just as some people mentioned. It makes no sense because its a counter-measure to farming. Protip: if a nerf or change doesn’t make sense: the gem store probably has something to do with it. It’s unfortunate that a lot of people just write it off as “lol tighten up that tin foil hat xD” which allows them to get away with this sort of thing.

Since this game has released they have constantly be tweaking and tuning (nerfing) viable methods of obtaining decent amounts of gold in game to shoehorn people into the gem store. If you’re on a dead server you might have trouble seeing this but on populated servers, you can go to the cursed shore (or other DE chains) and mow down hordes upon hordes upon hordes of enemies and run around sweeping up the loot. Just an hour of farming the tunnel events with the occasional planx you can make upwards of about 5-10 gold depending on drops and that’s not counting magic find and if you sell EVERYTHING. What makes this possible? AoE. The horde comes, people rip their AoE’s and its dead, so they are working hard at a fix for that, just like they will “fix” other methods of obtaining more gold than they want you to have in the future.

I like the OP love PvE and running dungeons, except I don’t have friends to constantly run with and I didn’t roll a warrior. Therefore I’m suffering for it because Arenanet can’t balance classes. It’s not just CoF farming, it’s every dungeon. I’m getting real sick of having to browse through “LF 3 warriors for <insert dungeon here>!!” all night.

The best part through is that apparently Arenanet thinks this is perfectly fine because there is absolutely no news of them doing any sort of balancing in the future so Warriors will remain the undisputed kings of PvE. Heavy Armor, Huge Health, Huge damage. Great job arenanet.

Hello. I recently got this game. I’ve been really enjoying it. Yesterday I started to look for dungeon groups for ascalonian catacombs. I’m having a huge problem though that I just can’t seem to fix, this is kind of like a brick wall for me.

You see, in every dungeon group I join the same thing happens. We’ll pull a group of enemies. Everything will be going smoothly for about 5 seconds, then 1 (or maybe more) enemies start attacking me. Their attacks hit me incredibly hard. I’ll give an example. we pulled a group and suddenly 2 archers started shooting at me. My health was literally just gone almost instantly. Now I have a heal, and 2 dodges, but thats not nearly enough to stop me from dying.

TL;DR, how am I, as a squishy caster, supposed to deal with the insanely hard hitting enemies who have no threat tables and just attack me at random? I’m really at a loss here.

I agree. I jut got this game a few days ago. I’m on a supposedly “full” server and I do play during prime time hours, yet every zone I’ve been to so far is a ghost town. I see maybe 2 or 3 people after exploring for hours. I can’t do group events, and most of the time they are spawning champions and masses of mobs all over the place that I simply can’t deal with alone. But when I go to Lions Arch theres tons of people and the chat is loaded with people LFG’ing for this FOTM dungeon. It kinda makes me want to just say screw the massive beautiful world and rush my way to 80 so I can actually play with people.
