I started out as a full support guardian to avoid the front lines when I first started. After getting used to it, I’ve built to be more of a shocktrooper. So I can get more kills.

Still, my ratio on kills to badges is 20:1.

Spawn camping deterrent.

So, let’s say you enable god mode for 1000 units from spawn. Spawn Campers will wait 1500 units from spawn. So, you move it to 1500, and the Spawn Campers move to 2000 units. There’s no good way of stopping them other than holding your forces at spawn and waiting for a force large enough to strike them.

I disagree with idea of that winning is who claims the largest portion of land at the time. How would that affect matchmaking? What if a server doesn’t own anything all game, but grabs a bunch an hour before close?

I, however, think the server score being hidden until the match is over would have a very positive effect on morale, overall.

There’s more to it than just “We’re 10k behind, forget it…” There’s also, “We’re 10k ahead, we’ll get it later”

These shouldn’t be allowed. It’s WvWvW… not Wv 2xW. So far as I know, this isn’t how the game was intended to be played. People speaking of them publically in these forums etc. is ridiculousness. If one server can’t beat another, they shouldn’t be allowed the crutch of having another server team up with you. Instead they should be forced to improve. It’s cowardly and dishonors both of the allied servers.

Catapults on door =

If they put catapults on doors, you have to lay the rams at max range so you don’t get hit. This is a non issue.
Also, another standard procedure is just building a catapult to knock down the gate / destroy the inside catapults.

Golem Zerg -

Requires massive resources (Gold, supply). I’ve only personally been involved with two golems at once, and we were able to take one down before the battle was lost. My guild mates however have coordinated golem strikes as well as defended against a 12 or 13 golem team. (They didn’t win the battle, but they destroyed several golems.) In the end, they only thing I think “might” be broken is the ability for golems to use mesmer portals. That’s about it though.

The only function of claiming a guild is to provide buffs to the area. A guild receives no additional benefits for claiming a guild, so it should not expend any extra resources in upgrades. I want the guild groups moving together and attacking targets efficiently, not standing in a keep to ensure it’s upgrade progression.

Recommended solutions:

1. Reset the maps to the respective thirds twice during the week. Winning teams will have more DEs to complete, so it’s less boring for them, and struggling teams will be able to retake a minimal base of operations, without being humiliated by 10 ballistas pointing at their spawn…

2. Reset the orbs (perhaps with the map resets). Again, the orbs are often the most exciting part of the weekly matches. The more orb fighting there is, the better. Orb fighting isn’t exciting when the guys with the orbs control the whole map.

3. Provide some sort of stacking buff to losing teams based on a point ratio. There’s no reason that the clearly dominant team should have extra health, endurance, and stat boosts after the first few days. There should be stacking buffs that grant extra stats, health, endurance (only within WvWvW), as well as stacking siege buffs. Something like 100,200,300 to stats and 1.5x, 2x, 3x siege damage, as well as 1.5x, 2x, 3x NPC effectiveness depending on the scenario. As servers start to close the point gap, these buffs go away, and the winning team can reassert their dominance. (Naturally this needs to be balanced to where winning teams don’t just take a break and give up until the score gaps close… not that this is so terrible a thing).

4. Mistwrought buff. Some sort of increased chance to get siege plans when your team is way outmanned/outscored.

5. 3 day to week long lockout on server transfers to competing servers. I’m sorry, but if you haven’t been able to transfer to play with your friends at this point, and they just so happen to be on the server you were just randomly matched up with, then you can just wait a few days. If you really can’t wait, perhaps there can be some sort of expedited server transfer ticketing system, with a history where players who abuse transfers can be identified and appropriately punished.


1. Reset the maps? When? Because whenever the reset happens during someone’s primetime, they will have an advantage over the other servers. Also, what about location upgrades? I think this is a very complex unneeded change, that will either make some problems worse or cause new ones.

2. Reset the orbs. Meh, I think the orb bonus needs to be changed to prevent slippery slope, but otherwise, I’d be fine if they stayed the same. I don’t feel that an orb reset is going to solve anything. Instead of these exciting battles over the orb that happen regularly, you’ll have slightly bigger battles happening at the orb reset. And if you have the orb reset at the same time as the map reset, it’ll instead become a race to the orb.

3. Outmanned needs to be changed to help prevent slippery slope, instead of letting people farm. Most people are who are actively PvPing are not interested in receiving a bonus to karma, exp, and magic find. (I think they’d rather receive a stat increase.) My suggestion would be to swap the functionality of the orbs and outmanned, as others have stated. (Makes the orbs a lot less useful. I’d say new orb bonus, old one to outmanned.)

4. Another addition to outmanned. See 3.

5. While intuitively a good solution there are too many problems. IMO, much simpler to put a 1 week cooldown on free transfers. If that’s too hard, just remove free transfers completely except to the lowest pop servers.

The only mechanical purpose of claiming a guild is distributing it’s buffs to allies in its area. If there IS a guild playing WvWvW, I don’t want them mucking around in keeps for any amount of time. I want them moving in a group and making coordinated attacks.

Average human jogging speed = 2.78 meters / second (10 km / hour) let’s round to 3 for easy math

1 unit = 1 centimeter (.01 meters)

Treb range = 10,000 units = 100 meters.

So, if we took “real” distance into account based on the perspective of the character, we should increase the range by 4.5x the amount

In 3 way PvP, someone will always be getting double teamed or hit in their undefended areas while they are focused elsewhere or on another team. It is rarely intentional and something people need to just get used to.

the point is that the 2nd and 3rd place shouldnt be focused on eachother and letting HOD reign over the most territory and basically guaranteeing them the win. its bad tactics in general to allow this to even happen.

It depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. The goal should be “what’s best for your server” and that’s going to change throughout the week.

Example: At the beginning of the week, it’s most advantageous for the bottom two to gang up on the top one. However, at some point, whoever is last for the week is going to start attacking the second for the week so they don’t lose.

It’s like a game of risk. You can make pacts with other players, but sooner or later, you’re going to have to turn on each other, and whoever does first has the upper hand.

World Rankings need to go

As this is obviously your first time playing a game with large scale PvP, I’ll go ahead and clue you in that quantity trumps quality every time in these games. A well organized group of players is going to do very well against a zerg, but they’re still going to get squashed, it will just take longer especially in this game. If you have 100 people attacking a keep defended by 10 of the best players of all time, that’s still, at max 10 siege weapons firing out, something needs repaired? that’s one less siege weapon. Meanwhile the enemy horde is churning out siege weapons.

Once the door’s down they can quite literally ignore the defenders, squash the lord and then finish off any players that happen to be sticking around. I’ve seen it.

So while I’m not saying the top servers are massive groups of unskilled zerglings, I am saying that servers WITH massive groups of unskilled zerglings are far more likely to move up the ladder than small servers with highly organized/skilled guilds will.

I’m 100% for ranking GUILDS on points earned, because that actually makes sense, and wouldn’t be inherently tied to a critical game mechanic meant to offset the impact of imbalanced servers… but thinking that the server rankings are a scoreboard, and believing that positioning on that board implies anything other than WvW participation is just silly.

This is exactly why WvWvW has a ranking system! Let’s say that those 10 people are SO good, and those 100 people are SO bad, that the small group won! Do you think those 10 people should play against 10 players that are average or 100 players that are average?

So, you have to put up with losing for a week until you get a better match (except in the cases of tiers, where it will take a few losses / wins), eventually everything will be pretty balanced. Remember, we still aren’t even to the 2-week campaigns yet! This system is still in its infancy of collecting data.

Workers aren't working

I went and looked at this again. You can see the workers standing around while they need to be working on mortars and various other upgrades, seen in the background. Do they not work in the lightning?

I’m employed part time as an aircraft mechanic, and they have strict regulation on working outside with lightning, (as all airports do, to my knowledge.)

If there’s lightning within 25 miles, you have to stop fuel operations and act with caution.
If there’s lightning within 5 miles, you cannot be outside at all.

So, maybe they can’t work when there’s lightning, I can’t…

There were multiple pushes that I was involved in that had stragglers from JQ and from SBI fighting each other at the flank of the zergs. (Despite our calls just to leave JQ alone, I think some people don’t realize there are 3 servers…)

It happens… but never once did the full force of our attack flank you out of SM.

However, there is no “common goal” of making HoD not win, it’s about taking whatever action we think is best for SBI. Which, at this point, only means fighting for second. Maybe next HoDvJQvSBI match up we’ll make some solid 1-week alliance… but it’s far too late for it now.

(To further clarify, at the beginning of a match, I think it’s in the best interest of the bottom two to gang up on the top one if each server is interested only in self preservation, then betraying it at the crucial moment. Like the board game, Risk)

Arenanet will never agree to denying an account access to WvW for a full week. Unless you’re saying this will only apply to people who transfer from enemy servers.

All they really need to do is limit the “free server transfers” to 1 per week. No one should be transferring servers more than that legitimately.

Was hacked the morning of Sept 1st. Put in ticket right away. Received a response on the 3rd from the NCsoft Support Team asking for 2 emails so they could use one to attach my account to. Immediately responded with 2 emails. Haven’t heard anything back since.

Gray, I’m posting from my husbands account but I too have been having the same issue. I got hacked the morning of the 1st and I received the exact same response from the NCsoft team (on the 3rd) asking for 2 emails. I immediately sent a response back to them and haven’t heard back since.

Since it has almost been a week since my account got hacked this is starting to get really frustrating.
