What jon says is this: When you go to a portal to USE it (F button by default) and if you have an obstacle between YOU and the portal entry you are trying to USE – you won’t be able to use it.

It still works the same apart from that. So if you have a wall between you and a portal entry (it doesnt matter where the portal starts or ends or it does not matter how many obstacles there are on the way.) you wont be able to use it.

Waypointing, its so hard, soooo hard.

You’re right that we do have a lot of currencies. We certainly know we could improve the experience here

Simply move all currencies (WvW Badges, Dungeon Tokens, Fractal Tokens) to to bottom of your inventory just like money, laurels and karma and stack via account not characters and we are good to go. This should have been in from the start.

Easy solution to "problem of nightcapping"

At this point in the game I suggest getting used to it. Not trying to be a jerk but there is really not much they can do to fix it in its current state. The mistake they made goes up to the way they set up servers. USA/EURO split. The dumbest thing they could have done.

I mean really, how do you make such a simplistic mistake. If I was making an MMO I would realize right off that by locking server regionally it would create issues like this. So whate the solution? There is no PERFECT solution, but the best thing they can do is the following.

1. Realize they royally made a mistake with server setup when it comes to WvW.
2. Take the time and effort to Merg 1 USA and 1 Euro server across the board taking into account WvW pops on both servers being merged.
3. Merge or destroy other Euro and USA servers after his to help finish balancing out pops a bit.
4. Add 1, 2 or 3 more WVW maps (AKA bringing the total maps to 5, 6 or 7). Why more maps? With servers merged and population increase you will need more maps to allow the larger population to WvW without being in 15hr q’s.

Servers should have been global from the start so that each server could have coverage over all hours of the day/night. This would have led to less blowout matches overall.

Alright. Its about time we do something about this. It happens in nearly every mmo. Big huge starting/racial/capitol cities which are completely dead after a month. The issue here is there is zero reason to go here besides your story quests and to grab some cultural armor. There are several things that can be done to increase activity in these areas.

Player Housing: Each character gets a house in his racial city.

Crafting Bonus: Give a bonus to crafting done in your racial city.

Events: Cities are dangerous places, have one or two small ‘camp’ sections in the city with waypoints. Everywhere else should have dynamic event pops like out in the main areas. Have it autoscale everyone to 80 so you don’t need to split the cities into different levels and just have it drop gear appropriate for your level. Each city should have a unique city boss on a timer (maybe 5-6hrs) that drops chests like the world dragons.

Server Clusters: For the racial cities only… Instead of just having the instance be your server only perhaps you could cluster together 3-4 servers so in example Maguuma, Northern Shiverpeaks, Crystal Desert, Dragonbrand would all share the same instance until player cap was reached and overflow kicks in.

Just a few ideas, sure some other people have some as well.

Some of my thoughts on ranger changes/fixes.

Stealth: We don’t need as many stealth abilities as a thief, but we should have access to a decent utility stealth skill.

Ranger Pet Progression: Ranger pets need to improve REGARDLESS of the trait paths you choose. Choose Marksmanship? Great your pets improve along a path that compliments longbow. Unlike Necro pets, Rangers CANNOT ignore the fact they have a pet without losing out on being 100% efficient. If pets are not optional then it is unfair to force us into one path with the bulk of the traits. Basically all traitlines should improve pets, but depending on the path you take your pets abilities and options are different than a ranger who specced in a different way.

Ranger Pet F2 – Cooldowns on F2 need to be severely lowered on most. More commands need to be added.

[Guard]: needs to be removed as a utility and added to F4 and once pet is set to guard duration should be permanent until the ranger moves out of pet range or until killed. This would add in strategic use for pet as sentry points in WvW.

Flying Pets – Should legitimately be able to fly up a wall and attack those you can get click target on.

Spider Pets – Should legitimately be able to climb up a wall and attack those you can get a click target on.

None Flying/Spider Pets – Should have the climb walls issue fixed

You can place pets on walls with Guard. You just have to be very careful about how you target it or it wont work right and the pet will just sit at the base of the wall. It’s a quick, dirty way of killing siege. The only caveat is that you obviously have to be able to target the siege that you want them to kill.

Yeah I know that, but guard should have been an F ability and even though I can place them on walls with guard because of the buggyness I think Spiders/Flying pets should be able to do it legit and they should fix it so the other pets can’t.

Been few weeks of too many people, even during the weeks. Far to many transfers, just looking for a new server where there are less giant zerg vs giant zerg. I miss smaller fights where a zerg was 15-20 people and smaller groups were more common.

Take a whole 20 seconds, look at the top of this forum. Click on the server rankings, choose server a couple tiers below Maguuma. Profit.

As far as i can tell it looks like Maguma and kaineng have both hit a wall. look at both of there opening night point totals last week and look at were they are now. this is going to be a great week. a long one for a number of servers as well.

Looks like YB and CD are doing a good job at challenging kaineng as well.

You say hit a wall. I say we are at the right spot for out numbers. As much as I prefer less zerg more smaller scale skirmishing and roaming. I have to say the match has been within several hundred points all night. With how hard we were hit we are doing great in fightning back. Its the way a match should be, not just a one sided blowout.

Yeah because the small amount of loudmouths that post here represent an entire server right? I think you will find that the majority of us want a large chunk of these transfers from the last three weeks gone.

I have been playing large scale PVP since Warhammer online. We used to complain that the two factions in WAR guaranteed that one would dominate the other and wished for a third so that two groups could oppose the one dominant team. After the last three weeks on IOJ I am less of a believer in 3 factions being a solution.

One of my guildies said that he thought IOJ had lost 34 guilds since we fell out of Tier 2. At one point yesterday in primetime IOJ had a 12 man zerg (lol) in its BL. There may have been others in WvW, but those were all that we had in the group running together. I am a pessimist, so my next comment is probably irrelevant, but atm we (IOJ) would probably be crushed in Tier 8.

Three servers would be the solution if it had been planned better. After a certain point when it is quite obvious that one team is trainwrecking the other team by an insane margin (AKA Maguuma). There should be an option for the other two teams to merge forces against them as allies. This alliance should last 24hrs and then the system should reset and figure out if there is need to ‘alliance’ up again.

And really, in the end the big culprit is free transfers. Once they are locked down populations will settle and hopefully anet will merge together some low/medium servers to make them better numberwise.

Try using combo fields, they are a blast. I find most MMO combat stale, this one not at all. Very rare that I get two classes to level cap in an MMO due to combat boredom, I have 4 and working on number 5 now. To each his own tho.

btw I did not recognize a single guild from Maguuma tonight, although I did see one guardian with a [GOON] tag, but other than that I have never seen any of the guilds you now have lol. Which server/s did they come from? They are formidable

I guess I’ll give a rundown on what the guild situation is on Maguuma.

Old (Pre-Explosion) Maguuma Guilds: PYRO, EVOH, NOVA, GOA, TTK, FFL, SCRB, ME (formerly FINE, kinda), RMNT, PRED backwards because of censorship (conglomeration of iRez, PANG, MAG, GOON, SFD), HKHS, HDA, EOH (somewhat new, about a month now), SAnD (also somewhat new, I believe), iLL, EK, MATE, DV, and a few others scattered about that I probably don’t remember at the time of writing this because I just woke up.

New Maguuma Guilds: SM (from Ehmry Bay) and WäR (from Borlis Pass).

Each of these guilds regularly field 20-25, so they’re pretty substantial, but as you can see, a lot of our explosion wasn’t from new guilds.

PYRO/EVOH/GOA/TTK/NOVA/FFL/SCRB/ME and recently RMNT have been working together lately in a coordinated effort under a shared banner called Legion Alliance, which has partially affected our scores, because GOA/TTK are getting their PVE players to play a lot more, and PYRO/EVOH/NOVA have been recruiting like crazy.

But a lot of our explosion is, unfortunately, just bandwagoners jumping off DR and BP because they wanted map completion or to be “winners.” Hopefully the queues die down soon so that we can play a bit more together.

Yes [SAnD] and [War] (not to be confused with WäR) transfered over a month.. perhaps a bit more than a month ago. Two weeks ago we merged into one guild. We were allied guilds who had been NSPers for a long time, but much like many guilds eventually we had to make the hard choice of moving and we chose Maguuma before this huge influx started hitting. We have had a blast running with everyone on Mag and fighting all the servers we have fought so far in T4/T5

I love being double teamed by yak and mag, it just shows how much of a threat we are. I mean again, I understand you guys need the handicap because your servers skill average is below average, but you would think attacking each other would grant u more points at this point.

Someone is upset. Get over it. Let me explain something to you and move on, since you are unable to comprehend it yourself.

YAKS will attack you because you are in SECOND place and they want to hold onto first place. Maguuma will attack you because your server is in second place and THEY want to take second place. But keep talking about how ‘skillful’ you server is vs the others, it never gets old.

If you can’t understand or deal with that fact, perhaps its time for you to find a game that is better suited to your comprehension.

Yeah here is another one.

Personally I like the pets, I like the concept and the fun of having one. However its the execution and the way you have to improve them which is the big issue imo. Ranger pets by designs are suppose to be a VITAL part of the class. Now for the time being lets ignore all the bugs and itchiness and look at what would imo be a great way to make this class shine.

As stated, pets are the core of the class. Yet to really improve them you need to spec into a trait line. It makes no sense, the pet is always there it should improve regardless of what traits you are picking. Necro pets can be ignored completely based on spec. If ranger pets cannot be ignored then all trait lines needs to be improving the effects and usefulness of pets, not just a single path granting most of the benefits.

So my proposal is the following. Each trait path every ability have traits and skills that effect both the ranger and the pet. The pet is always improving alongside its master Based on the path you choose with trait-lines your pets end up built differently than a different ranger with a different path.

Rough Example is ranger traits could work as is for the ranger themself could grant something along the lines of the following.

Marksmenship: Traits would also affect pets in ways that compliments long range attacks by the ranger.

SkirmishingL Traits would also effect pets in ways that compliment skirmishing type encounters.

etc.

Basically typical beastmastery would go by by and a better version would be rolled right into each pathline.

Being Yanked off walls

No I am not here to ask that it be ripped out. However. If I can be yanked off a wall then it should work the other way as well. I should be able to yank someone in the battlefield up to me. If defenders can whittle us down little by little when we have a small amount of people guarding a tower, we should be able to do the same thing in reverse. IMO only fair, its hard enough on defenders in this game.

Simple, if a necro can pull me off a wall. When I am on my necro I should be able to use my pull to pick a guy out of the line up and pull him to me. Lets face it, if you allow this the person on the ‘lowground’ still has the advantage of being able to dodgeroll back and off whereas the person pulled down is normally done for.

Stacking Tools & Kits Manually

Please patch in the ability to manually stack and condense stacks of Salvage Kits/Tools you have in your inventory that are not full. I don’t know why you decided you could stack everything else in the game BUT these two items but it makes no sense.

And having to waste extra inventory space for these black lion tools that drop in either 10 or 25 increments is really irritating. Not fun having your inventory looking like 10/10/25/25/10/10/98/47/77 etc. I don’t mind the rarer tools dropping in smaller stack sizes, but we should at least be able to stack them up to a normal stack size once we have them in our inventory, its not like the tools are physically bigger than our normal tools.

Bringing people back to the 70+ Areas?

Anet what are you plans for this. Ever since fractals of the mists the zones are all but completely dead. For those of us on lower pop servers its ridiculous trying to get to the special temple karma vendors.

Its time you relocate these temple Karma Vendors. I have no idea how it is on the higher pop servers. But on the medium to low pop servers we almost never have them cleared out anymore. I have managed to make it to ONE cleared karma vendor since you implemented this fractal stuff. I put in lots of hours at many different playtime blocks and its just always contested on my server.

So what are your plans to fix this, because for me moving to a new server is not an option.

Yeah there really needs to be some variety in them there borderlands. A random rotating central map would be pretty sweet as well. TBH all of the maps, if there was say 3 or 4 of them, on a random rotation with the match up switch ups….sah-weet! imo.

Urban would be cool. Man a rata run type would be nuts.

One thing there needs to be an end to though IMO is the what I would call wasted space a la borderlands. Too many open spaces that really nobody goes to unless you’re traveling or (for whatever reason) pve’ing.

With the way WvW works we have more than enough maps… However, I would love to see them make each one of them unique overtime. Add a city map and replace one of the current borderlands and then add something else for the third map, maby some crazy versicle map or floating island area.

Separate Loot from Interact

It would be nice if you could add in an optional feature to split loot and interact into separate keybinds. Its really annoying to be doing an escort quest and trying to loot your drops before the npc moves on only to be constantly going into dialog with the NPC.

Seems like this would be fairly simple to implement and people who like it as is could use it as it.d

As someone who WVWs with several classes of varying levels (20-80) I can say that gear makes very little difference its the traits. Does gear make an impact? yes very rarely you may have a smaller scale fight where your gear was just enough to get you out on top, buts it rare. But in the middle of a mass battle it comes down to numbers, strategy and siege.

Please cutdown the amount of sharks in the water, survivability is not the issue. The problem is all over the place under the water there are schools of 3-5 of them attacking the neutral mobs in the water causing lag all over the place do to the insane amount of them in the area. It needs to be cut back some.

WvW Progression

Make the progression server based (like guild progression). Add a bunch of interesting item skins that require x ranks in wvw to even put on. If you change to a new server you start fresh. If you transfer back you can continue your progress. This could possibly help cut down on those who constantly server hop, make it a loyalty system. Rewards are strictly locked to your server.

I can’t count how often we have been close to capturing something only to have team 3 come over the horizon and wipe us out and then take it themselves. Its a three way battle, that’s what happens. That happened to us last week from both DB and SF, its part of the game. It wasn’t like there as some huge conspiracy against anyone, its just the way the coin rolls in this type of battlefield. Its also not our fault that server x and y didn’t bring all their players to the party. During the Halloween event we got rolftstomped by the other teams, but hey those of us who enjoy it still come out for WvW and enjoyed ourselves, we event had some epic battles and wiped out 4-5 times our numbers several times just by playing smart.

Score update? Is ET beating SF? The posts here make it seem like SF just died, lol.

ET doesn’t even have more then 10 people bothering to fight as of a few hours ago. Sadly, I’ve made the difficult decision to move to another server in hopes of finding enough players who will enjoy WvW to make a battle possible. :/

NSP… Just sayin.

We would love to have you on NSP. Would make sense we were both abandoned by the same alliance and forced to rebuild. Come on over, we have punch and pie.

And you SF guys gave us some great battles tonight, we were just way more coordinated, we planned for tonight ahead of time and came out the gates looking to paint the world green and for a short while we did. Who knows what will happen tomorrow, good luck to all during this match I hope to see some more great battles no matter the outcome.

And to ANET, please do not every increase match length over into two week matches, that is going to be too long for whomever is on the losing end of the stick.

Need a new WvW Server.

No, we do not need any more servers. What needs to happen is then ending of free transfers and the consolidation of a few of the smaller servers into one. More servers when we have servers that are medium or low medium pop is a BIG mistake.
