Ive been doing a ton of solo que and its been going pretty well. good fear necros are really hard to beat with d/d if they have alot of life force same goes for perma burning engi’s, ive been playing around with d/f a bit in spvp and that makes engis pretty easy to fight. i dont think any of the new grandmaster traits are all that exciting. Unerfing the signet heal and cleansing water was huge, never been a fan of ether renewal. I dont feel like there any amazing amulet choices for ele now that you cant put jewels in them, it seems the only reasonable choices are valkyrie (dat low health and crit chance) and celestial (dat low power makes me sad) they both seem pretty solid though. havent tried zerker yet but i may give it a shot with d/f and see how it goes. or maybe valkyrie with signet of fire precision utility and sigil of accuracy. Also played a couple games as bunker staff and it was lots of fun!

You can use fast casting and semi fast casting for ground targeted skills anyway. Somehow I also find it hard to believe that the majority of ele players hate this update.

i dont think so, i was only using d/f in OS for a couple duels. was roaming with guard, mes, and theif with d/d for most of the night in EB, and JQ bl. just look for the [yarr] tag!

we will be stuck on SoR until at least sunday night, we had lots of fun last night though!

me and four buddies transfered to SoR for a holiday vacation! if anyone wants to do some small GvG’s or duels lets me know.

Condition necros will dominate you easily with this build. Which i am using exact build with different gear but stuff is the same.

condi necros are a joke with diamond skin…. honestly that trait is ridiculous against condi classes, im more worried about power builds than condi with it

A few questions, however. Would you mind terribly to try to update or repost the build? I find some inconsistencies to your video and the build posted.

Like, in your videos I see you having about 16,2k HP when the post shows the HP pool at 15,3k. Also you seem to run the signet of restoration instead of ether renewal.

Now the general gist is made. 0/0/30/20/20 D/F with the runes. and lighningflash & arcane wave. So far so good, point made.

But since this build in particular spiked my interest due to my, similar, gameplay preferences, I would want to ask if you could refine the information :]

there it is …. that site was changing stuff around for some reason but seems to be working now. I think that extra health is from WvW buffs or that site is wrong. ive also been using SoR (along with life steal food) now because it keeps you topped off against condi classes.

D/F is nice and all, but its very kite-able. D/D already has some issues being kited if your opponent is smart, but d/f can’t do anything but slow down the ranged dps if its projectiles.

You might be experiencing “extra power” from the fact that you are playing a mythical unicorn that your enemies have no idea what to do against.

have no problems being kited with this… and yes alot of ppl dont even know ele has a focus thats one of the bonuses!!! no1 knows what to do! but still if they are kiting you succesully it does not matter yo have reflect and swirling winds and invuln …. and tons of condi clear with d/f ….

Thought i would share the DS build I’ve been using its purty strong and I am still undefeated with it in duels, I honestly think its one of the strongest dueling builds in the game atm.

I do not like liars. I transfered to HoD for a week and whipped this ele! If you go back to his video he only fights the same 3 people cause he knows he can beat them! There were like 20 people there! Liars will lie. Scrub ele.

well considering that we perform pretty well in WvW i think if they just turned back all the spvp nerfs they gave us, Ele would be in a good place….. also i mean cmon… RTL change it back to 20 seconds… do it… this would go a long way putting ele on par with other classes in pvp

I’ve had good success with d/f condition build in the past, but I just hate the mobility too much, and it’s worse for soloing camps. For strict dueling though I think it is superior to d/d. I always took 20% off earth cooldown instead of rock solid since earth focus skills are by far the most important focus skills.

I don’t fear any class but thief in duels. But oh man do thieves scare me. I suppose I have been running D/D instead of D/F lately, but I’m finding good thieves are getting harder and harder to beat in any build. I’m interested how you fare against d/p or s/d thieves in WvW.

Against condition based thieves, focus skills is a major counter to them from my experience with s/f (plus the range burst from scepter helps a lot too). Now against a good power/bunker based thief running s/d you won’t be able to defeat him because s/f or d/f doesn’t provide the enough burst to down him before he can stealth and recover again. For those type of thieves you need bursty d/d or s/d playstyle.

cant say ive ever fought a power / bunker theif, but i have yet to have any REALLY long drawn out fights using d/f, the damage can be huge… 10% more damage when endurance if full and 10% more damage when ur close and sigil of force all add up nice. the only extra damage off hand dagger provides during duels is firegrab (which can be quite alot) and fire 4, unless your using churning earth and its actually hitting ppl. but like i said, dont see many bunker theives… cant imagine they hurt very much though

It´s hard to master, but its worth it.

It´s based on permanent Protection, Fury, Vigor and ~20 Might.
Might: You need to blast all your Fire-Fields with dodge in Earth-Attunement
Fury/Protection: Use your Auras (well timed ofc!) and always use your Earth 3 Skill (Leap Finisher).
Vigor: comes automatically due the Arcane “II” Perk.

You may practise a lot, because it don´t excuse a lot mistakes to work well.

That sounds like a challenge. Sadly I have not found any IoJ roamers worth a kitten either(except those buns jerks). Those zergs seem to be getting in the way.

Well a 5 man party did this to your EB ontop of getting the gates reinforced at brav and duri and only dying twice to the 15+ man FC zerg.

hmm around 2500 armor is pretty standard for me, but feel free to tweak things around to your liking!

yea, i am not a fan of s/f the damage doesn’t seem to be there (because of awful autoattacks), but with d/f your autoattacks put out nice damage so you can keep up constant pressure. when all else fails – lightning whip!

d/f is already super strong in duels and I used it to great success beating those pesky condi classes pre patch. It still remains our best weapon set for dueling imo, add in Diamond Skin and never worry about blackwater-perplex-dhumfire-shenanigans again!

you could take vital striking over cantrip mastery but the best burst u can get with d/f involves burning speed > lightning flash > arcane wave (this can easily hit for over 10k) the more often you can do it the better!

you have a block, invuln, reflect, projectile invuln, lots of slows, a daze, and a knockdown with complete condi immunity above 90% …. by the time they get through all this they are usually dead.

power gear does more damage… celestial allows for more mistakes. dunno how you could say power is bad though…. glass is class

The BEST d/d build ever made, period.

This build offers massive survivability and damage all in one package, which is perfect for small group play and to an extent zergs. By constantly blasting off ring of fire with earth dodge, 4, and 5, you can stack ludicrous amounts of might. By playing intelligently, you would be an ele with permanent uptime on all boons except protection (this still has pretty long uptime) and stability, giving you 4k power and 1.2k condition damage to go with your survivability.

This build is when you want to simply not die and nothing else. Guaranteed to make you immortal, especially in small group fights where your high survivability, resistance to conditions, and extreme healing makes you a tank to make guardians look bad. Only one issue is lack of damage but, hey, the trade off for immortality is still nice.

deth lost their commander and many members of their core GvG team. At least they showed up to fight, now if they lose their ego and keep GvGs going maybe they can get back to their former glory! I wish them the best of luck!

dont listen to all these baddies… ele takes a bit more work to get good at but is very rewarding, very team oriented, and very fun! also one of the best dueling classes in the game

also i have made many build that can easily one shot people, s/d, d/f, and d/d are all capable of this …..probably s/f also, but it is a pretty awful combo in my opinion

0-10-0-30-30 with aura share is still good for zerg fights

I was messing with something kind of similiar but with the new tempest defense stuff… you can get insane dmg with gale > burning speed > lightning flash > arcane wave … and if you have a hammer warrior with you stunning people your putting out huge deeps constantly, its lot of fun!

i would also recomend keeping lightning flash on your bar as your main burst with d/f comes from burning speed > lightning flash

rock solid is amazing so is elemental shielding and stone splinters… earth line has good traits

because with a little extra button mashing ele beats every other class in the game!

would very much like to see this skill with a 20 seconds cooldown again…. none of that 40 second CD if you miss nonsense.
