I find it more fascinating that it seems that instances of NCSoft are being replaced by ArenaNet. Is ArenaNet going to separate itself from NCSoft? They did mention an announcement that will change the future of Guild Wars 2.
Turned out I didn’t have the latest version. I required a reboot according to my device manager. Did that and then I managed to install the latest drivers from the NVIDIA site. Game purs like a kitten on highest settings again.
Same issue, but I have the latest drivers already. Downloaded the latest driver from NVIDIA site and it won’t install since I’m up-to-date. First trying to repair the GW2 client. Then perhaps remove NVIDIA drivers altogether and fresh install.
But didn’t there used to be MORE? Or did I miss an announcement that Arenanet removed several POI’s in the game? Just looking at the wiki yesterday it showed more than 4 POI’s in the Grove. I’m also fairly certain Rata Sum used to have more than 9. I also have the feeling Divinity’s Reach has less (now 16). Looking at it, I think I miss, amongst others, the headquarters of the three Orders in each of those towns, I think all three had some.
I zoned to Rata Sum and the map overview says it only has 8 POI’s. I checked Grove, only says 6. Bug? I haven’t actually counted the poi’s.
I think he indeed refers to the Explorer achievements. Sadly there is no simple way to keep track of this.
As suggested before, the best way to accomplish this is do “regular” map completion to 100% (the PoI’s en Vista’s and such) and then check how many named areas are missing per region (Ascalon, Kryta, Shiverpeaks, Orr, Maguuma).
There are a couple of ones that frequently missed by players since they are off the beaten track:
Maguuma, Brisban Wildlands: Aurora’s Remains. Easily missed because there are no things for map completion and you can easily overlook the entrance into the area. There is an event there, but it won’t show up unless you are in the area itself, so easily missed area.
Shiverpeaks, Lornar’s Pass: Griffonrook Run. Easily missed because the entrance is hidden underwater and no events here.
Maguuma, Mount Maelstrom: Dierdre’s Steps. Easily missed because it needs to be visited through a portal which spawns after defeating certain Veterans on the map.
Maguuma, Metrica Province: Calx’s Hideout. Easily missed as you can only enter it as part of an event that is part of a chain near Parnna’s Gate.
Kryta, Harathi Hinterlands: there are some caves at the very east of the map you might miss as there are no PoI’s there. There is an event chain but it won’t show up unless are virtually in the caves.
Again, do map completion, take note of the ones easily missed summed up. If you are still missing, ask around in map chat in cities if people have any ideas of other areas that are easily missed and consult the maps on wiki. You can see which regions still have undiscovered area’s, make a list from wiki from all area’s, then check all your characters if one has visited it or not.
I’m quite proud of finally crafing Mawdrey (non-infused version) and without buying any of the stuff except the final 15 Foxfire Clusters (which by now I have earned while farming Malchor’s Leap). I never thought I would get Mawdrey because it required elements from Fractals.
Guess I was lucky. I ordered the soundtrack quite in the beginning (but after receiving my delayed my Collector’s Edition of the game which had a 5 dollar coupon). It did take up to four weeks before my OST was delivered, but I received a notice of delay. Eventually it arrived just fine (and apparently signed). It’s a shame it’s no longer available because it has quite some good songs on it.
As much as I love the game and the world it is set in, I think I would leave if it went subscription. The reason I picked up Guild Wars seven or eight years ago is the fact it was free. I like casual play and with a subscription I feel kinda forced to play once I paid for a month.
I don’t mind tossing some bucks into the gem store every now and then (in fact, recently I went on a shopping spree after a tax refund), but a subscription would kill it for me.
It didn’t take more than 15 minutes the old way. And that didn’t require you to chase a zerg. Stop apologizing for a broken system.
The system is not broken, in general I’m done quicker than in the old system.
It’s insane now how many people clamor for events, scream about not getting credit, complain about broken events. Why would changing the category simply do “daily events” without specifying a zone hurt things? I’m not suggesting they revert to the old system wholesale. Just generalize more so we aren’t forced into a specific zone. So we can do things on our own without having to rush after a zerg that clears events in seconds. Not all of us have computers that let us load to a new WP in milliseconds.
Neither does my computer, especially zoning into DR and LA takes quite a lot of time, yet it’s not really an issue for me and we are talking about a machine that’s over 5 years old and wasn’t top notch when I bought her.
The point of the new system is to introduce people to new stuff and it works! I already did a lot of stuff, but some stuff is hard to play because it requires more people. I’m fond of a particular even chain in the Harathi Hinterlands for example that start with a huge Champion giant that really requires a group to take down. I could hardly ever do that. The Megaserver already improved on enjoying more content again because maps are populated again and with this new daily thing I even discover new events when people call them out! Yeah, sure I miss out on the credit, maybe a bit more than before. But is it a problem? No, because there’s so much going on, even with missing credits and having to zone I’m still done quicker as I generally don’t even need to look for events. They are called out or Commanders put out their tags and it relieves me actually of the question “where should I go event today for my daily” instead of just going touring Queensdale for the area’s known to have a few events going on all the time.
And the best part is, if you don’t want to do events, you don’t have to. In the old system, if events was up, I nearly always had to do it to get enough dailies (at least when I only had little time to play). Now I can just skip it if I wish and quickly go cap something in WvW and still get my AP.
The system is not broken. Things are just changed. Not for better, not for worse, in my eyes, just changed. And I think that’s the problem. People are generally opposed to any kind of change (and I’ll readily admit, I’m no exception to that) and it will take some time to get used to it. Be glad ANet is still making changes to the game, if they are not, then I would be worried if the game was slowly going to be left alone.
I’m disagreeing with the OP completely.
Wintersdaymeta: I too sat 10/11 and QQ that I would never make the Bell Choir thingie in order to complete it. Then I decided to look into it, ask people while doing BC and put some effort in and in no time I had my meta done. Sometimes things in life just take a little effort and the willingness to take your time to learn. Sadly many games spoonfeed you these days and once a game gets a kittenallenging (no clue why I’m being kittened here? ), everyone complains.
Same goes for the new Daily system: sure, I missed out on events because I couldn’t get my damage in through the zergs. Still I just keep going and I still completely my dailies way faster than before. Also it pays off to have toons that have completed the map. You are shown where the closest event is! Also it pays off to know about the map, know where event chains start or which are contains a lot of chains in general.
The only thing I maybe like to see is that you can change that compass thingie, that points you to nearby interesting stuff, to show just events and not personal story or poi’s and stuff. That would accommodate playing toons that haven’t completed the map yet.

However, King Doric is said to be the progenitor of the royal houses of Ascalon and Kryta. Both Adelbern and Salma are supposed to be descended from him. Already during his reign humanity moved into Ascalon and Kryta and Queen Jennah is supposed to be a direct descendant.
My Guardian played through the second episode. I started the second episode on my Engineer now and in Discovering Scarlet’s Breakthrough I unlocked “Fire for Effect” and “Mess with the Bull…” with said Engineer. How is that possible? Did they change it to accountwide unlock? Or are those two bugged? Someone on the wiki mentioned the latter.
Sell the sprockets. They consistently sold for about 3s50c the past few weeks. Nice source of some extra cash.
Details about the Guild Wars 2 First Birthday Gift

Thanks for the information. That explains why my main toon received the gift a second time. I accepted and opened without thinking. I’m glad that this is not considered an exploit.
You logged in (to the website) 2 hours ago to post that first message.
For a while I’ve been considering changing my e-mailaddress used for Guild Wars 2. However, when I login to accountmanagement on the website, I don’t see an option to do so. Is there a way to change my email address? Ever since I started using the authenticator I feel a safer but I’d still like to change the address to one I consider more secure; GMail over Hotmail. I never had any problems, but with GMail using two-factor authentication, I feel a lot safer having more critical stuff associated with GMail, rather than Hotmail.
There’s a potential second issue. Lets call the address I’m using for GW2 “E-mail A”. That is also the e-mail for my Guild Wars 1 account, the one with the full HoM and thousands of hours of wasted social life study avoiding behaviour. That account is linked to my GW2 account.
The email address I would like to use for GW2 is “E-mail B”. However, that address is associated with an alternate Guild Wars account that I used for storage. Would it even be possible to change my GW2 email address? I changed my password a while ago and noticed this password now also goes for my associated GW account. So, if I even could change my email address, won’t it initiate a conflict with my GW accounts since that email address has a GW associated with it already? Of course I could always make a new email address but that was only my last resort option really (if changing is even possible). My preferred course of action would to change the email address of GW2 to “E-mail B” and swap the email addresses of my GW accounts (having “E-mail B” for my main account and “E-mail A” for my storage account).
Create a new e-mail address?
As it should be, without CE-items you can still play. There are people out there who can’t play at all, and not just people who are “stupid enough to get hacked”. I’m sure everyone will be dealt with, but they must be swamped and ANet is not Blizzard. They are quite small and can’t afford to have a large call center. Do I find it annoying? Yes, of course I would love to have a support worker just for me ready 24/7 to deal with whatever issue I have. But that’s not going to happen. If you can play the game while waiting for some support issue, do so and don’t complain about such minor inconveniences. There are people who can’t play at all because of no fault of their own (I have an account WITH CE items but can’t play, not because of a hack or ban but other reasons). It is frustrating yes, but I learned to be patient and it’ll be dealt with when it’ll be dealt with.
The in-game bonuses of the CE are exactly the same as those in the Digital Deluxe (with stuff like the mini, Golem banker etc). The only extra things with the CE are the physical goodies in the box. So there is NO reason to apply the CE code to your existing DD account. Simply take the box with the physical goods, give the code inside that box to your girlfriend and you can both play with the same online benefits.
If you can “unhack” yourself, then don’t you think a hacker could “rehack” your account?
As far as I read from the submissions of others, they needed to enter their serial key. I don’t think there’s a way for the hacker to get that key other than beat the living hell out of the owner and hand it over.
Can you even get a CE still? Mine got lost, probably “fell off the delivery truck”. But every place I go to hoping they might have some CE’s left tell me the same thing: very limited edition, all sold out. There’s of course the occasional rip-off offer on Amazon or Ebay.

Oh my bad, hehe. But in case of the OP it should be solved. He states he’s only level 48 and I think I see it on the screenshot. So he must wait until he reaches level 60.

Thanks for the response. Sadly it turned out the CE wasn’t available any more at the place where I saw it, it was a mistake on their behalf. So there’s no game for me. However, I if do manage to get one after all, I know I can use with my pre-purchase account.

Isn’t it a Ranger pet? Is that character a Ranger? If not, I think that might be why you can’t use it (it shows up since the Wolf is an accountwide boon I think).
To make things even stranger, Arena Net’s page says that everyone who bought the CE got access to the 3-day headstart, but when I ordered it I was given a code labelled as “1-day headstart access”.
That just means you had a pre-ORDER version and not a pre-PURCHASE version.
And Drintar, the way I understood the story, he had the actual CE box, that means he has the code. But reading again I start to doubt even that. Al Zheimer, what EXACTLY do you have? A DVD case with a code? Or a huge box with the statue an other stuff? If you have just a DVD case then you need to go to Game UK, with your receipt and the big CE box. The code in the DVD case will have expired by now as that was only there to make sure the one day head start access could be granted. It expired five days after the official launch on the 28th. I clearly hadn’t had enough coffee this morning when I was reading this topic again.

Well, the listing of the game on GameMania’s website was a mistake. It’s sold out. Went to two more game shops (and found out the fourth I wanted to visit forfeited business a year and a half ago). It seems that the CE is very nearly sold out. Getting a copy through a store is probably impossible and I doubt ANet releases more. I’m not going to buy for rip-off prices on ebay or amazon. So I guess after seven days of having enormous fun during head start and grace period it’s time to say goodbye to the game I had looked forward to so much and loved so much in that short time. I had already made a shopping list for the OST, the Art book, the LE strategy guide and future gem purchase (to upgrade vault, bag slots on main character, character slots etc). Oh well, guess I’ll save myself a lot of money this way.
I decided it’s the CE or nothing at all, so it will be nothing I fear. In fact, I think I couldn’t even add a SE retail code to my account since I have my CE in-game items on my account already. And I’m not buying Deluxe Edition as that edition is not worth the money to me. The in-game itself never warranted the price for me. I was willing to buy the more expensive CE because I wanted the physical goodies.

Yes, someone in my guild already teased me and others with that. It’s on my list. But I’m not buying GW2 goodies until I’m back in the game. There’s also some kind of art book on sale on the website which is different from the book in the box. I’m contemplating that also (but also with the same annotation that I won’t buy anything until I’m slaughtering centaurs by the dozens again).
Mine also shows where I’m at right now. I can’t see a list of networks I authorized. I started posting from uni yesterday regarding an issue I have and I had to authorize the network and check the box to keep it that way because otherwise it would log me out again when I went to the forums. It’s not that I don’t trust my university network (I do actually) but I’d like to remove it nonetheless once I’m done posting from here. The only place I want to keep authorized is my home computer.

Heh. Strangely the statue is not the thing I was looking most forward to. I’m really not a fan of the Charr. I hated every second playing in the Charr baby area during beta…killing Ascalonian ghosts, even ghosts of NPCs that I met in GW1
But he does look awesome on the photo’s I’ve seen, I have to admit that. Once I get a box, I’ll have to solve a first world problem: where to keep the statue (and box)
No, your ISP can assign you a new IP each time you make a new connection as far as I know, even if you keep the modem plugged in all the time. I think there is software that could give you a static IP over the one your ISP gives you, like a proxy server. But such things always cause lag and I don’t know how “legal” those solutions are.
Have you checked your IPs between sessions?
I’m sorry Al Zheimer, I must have read your post wrong or mixed it up with something else I read. I guess you are safe as in this case receiving the box should equal to “return to the retailer after launch” as you need to do that to pick up your box (which in your case was delivered to you). But I can see how you can be confused about this. If you really truly worry, you could make an account for your friend, carefully open the box and apply the serial code to the account. You can immediately check and verify everything is in order. On his birthday you’ll give the box and the account details.
I don’t see why the code in the box should expire. It’s possible that not all CE boxes are sold that quickly. Imagine someone buying one in a store in a few months from now only to find out the code “expired”. I wouldn’t want to be the store clerk on duty when that customer returns raging

I’m not too worried about the CE goodies, it’s my the pre-purchase I was really worried about. But I guess Drintar was already right saying that there are no ‘special keys’ that expect an existing beta key in place. The pre-purchase key IS on my account and if I enter a CE retail code, I should be fine with the CE goodies as well.
The reason I wonder is that I thought that A-Net might have built in some protection for people who pre-purchase the CE, then cancel their order when head start begins, get their money back and then buy a SE. Pre-purchase and CE in-game goodies would be on the account already (as I already had Rytlock and the other in-game stuff) and people would essentially have a Digital Deluxe Edition for the price of a SE.
(If A-Net thinks I’m on that tour then I can produce my correspondence with Bol.com showing my stuff was lost…besides, I still WANT that CE, I’m really looking forward to what the box holds).

Thanks for the moral support Temper (and all others!), it’s greatly appreciated. I hadn’t expected any reply to my support ticket since support is swamped with his hack issue and other stuff (just looking at the forum here is indication enough for that), but I hoped I could get a quick answer to an ultimately relatively simple question (in my eyes) here on the forums, sadly they are as swamped as support probably is. While I’m inclined to think that Drintar is right (it makes absolutely 100% sense, but being Dutch means I’m naturally suspicious of everything…even more of postal service workers after this) I would like to have a definitive answer. I can’t just walk to a GameMania store whenever I want as they don’t have one in town. Oh well, we’ll see. Eventually I’ll just stop caring, but I could have saved myself all that time spent on Guild Wars grinding that HoM and spent that time productively, like finishing my degree, hehe.
I feel very bad for my guild as I offered to act as Guild Leader to get our guild back off the ground and now they are stuck with a Guild Leader who can’t do anything (luckily we have some wonderful people who could take over for me, thankfully I was smart enough to promote them when I saw this coming) but it still leaves me with an exceptionally bitter taste in my mouth (which is totally unrelated to the cold coffee in my mug right now).
In case supports gets around to read this anyway, I’ll restate the question in the most abbreviated form I can manage: I pre-purchased, everything went fine during beta and headstart. But the retailer (an official A-Net partner for NL in pre-purchasing: Bol.com) lost the package during transport to the package delivery service. Both claim it irretrievably lost and Bol is refunding me. Can I buy a CE in a store (if I can still get one) and use that serial code to play again with my existing account (linked to my GW1 HoM), enjoying my pre-purchase bonuses and stuff? Drintar makes a strong case for “yes”, but a definitive answer would put my nerves at ease before I respend the 150 bucks Bol is refunding me.

It does make sense. I just wasn’t sure if ANet maybe had a special batch of retail keys and shipped those out with boxes reserved for pre-purchase orders. I guess I’m going to try my luck…lets hope Game Mania still has the CE. After the pre-purchase of GW2 (only one per store and that went to people who placed vague pre-orders years ago, without knowing there would be something like a pre-purchase in the future) and botched Diablo III release (they didn’t even have enough copies on launch day for the people who reserved a copy, let alone for customers who just walked into the story an hour after opening) I swore not to buy there again, but sometimes you have to act against principle.
I really hope your retailer hasn’t lost your box like they did with mine … But I could see how this applies to pre-order as well. I suggest you go pick up your box if you haven’t done so. If there’s no code in there, update us here.

Hmm, I hope you are right Drintar. I’m still a bit hesitant. But with each passing day my fingers are getting more and more itchy.
Try checking your IP every time you start your computer. It’s possible you have a dynamic IP address and your provider gives you a new IP each time. whatismyip.com generally works. Check it now, write down the IP. Login to the game. Next time you have to re-authenticate, check whatismyip.com first. If the IP is different than that might be your problem.
I had this issue during the first BWE, my tempature would rise to nearly shut down temperature (at one point it rose to 99C and at 100C my PC goes to take a nap to cool off). I gave my PC a thorough cleaning two weeks later, blowing out all the dust out of the fans and heat sinks. During the next BWE my temp would rise to 60-65C max. I’m not sure if ANet had made changes to be less CPU extensive (as far as I could see that CPU was still heavily taxed) or whether it was just the dust. I suggest you first try cleaning it out. It might help.

I’m having a very frustrating problem. In April I purchased the Pre-Purchase CE from an official ANet partner in the Netherlands (Bol.com). I received my initial registration key with no problem, played in the Beta, started on the first day of the head start and played just fine during the “grace” period.
On the 27th Bol notified me by e-mail that they were shipping my CE to the PostNL delivery service and they gave me a track and trace code to track shipment. It was stated to be delivered to me on the 28th. Each morning the delivery date was pushed back a day. According to Bol.com policy I should allow up to three working days after receiving the shipping notification to have the package arrive. It didn’t, so on Friday I contacted them. On Saturday morning the delivery date was set to unknown and Bol.com told me in the evening to “be patient” (while I waited for the three days) and contact them again if I hadn’t received anything on Monday 3rd. Nothing came, delivery status was unknown. Bol replied the next day that they consider my package lost and don’t think it will ever turn up or be delivered and the refund process was started. I contacted PostNL that same morning. They called me within the hour and informed me that they only had received a notification from Bol that a package was going to be handed over to them but it never arrived according to their logs. As the recipient, they can’t do anything for me, only Bol could try something, but they already have given up on it.
So now I sit with my Guild Wars 2 account, with my Pre-purchase AND CE in-game items and my original Guild Wars account linked (50/50 HoM points) and I can’t use it anymore. It appears that GameMania still has regular CE’s in stock (Bol doesn’t offer them and you might understand that I’m not very keen ordering something big there in the near future). My question is…could I buy a regular CE and apply that serial code to my current account and start playing again with my account? Or does my account expect a special serial code belonging to a PP CE? If the latter is the case, can something be done? I don’t want to loose my account. I had paid for the pre-purchase CE because I wanted the whole set of extra things. Not to mention all my HoM achievements are there.
EDIT: I first contacted support about this on Saturday 1st when I started fearing it would turn out into this (but still hoping my package was only being delayed and asking if it were possible to extent the “grace” period). I haven’t received any answer so far. I updated my status with the news of yesterday. But I realise support is swamped and I’m having some time-critical things…if I can go out and buy a new CE, I want to do that ASAP because I fear soon they will be unavailable, or only for outrageous prices on Ebay (and I’m not keen on buying it over the Internet anymore).
