You can’t look at Mos.Millenium last week. It was having issues connecting to the data and got completely thrown off. Look at T1 here http://mos.millenium.org/matchups/skirmish/4057, it had YB taking 2nd and JQ taking 3rd and the results were opposite. So if you are looking at Mos.Mellenium for your matchup this week it would be wrong. You would have to look at scores in game for correct matchups.

Hello,

The other day Sigurlina Jonsdottir had guild cata blueprints available under the first tab, so all my guildies bought some and sent them to me to use while commanding. However these are the blue guild cata blueprints and not the yellow ones. When I went to use these in WvW I would have the crate in my hand but when I went to throw the siege it would not throw and would go right back into my inventory. I have 24 of them and can not use them.

Perhaps claiming keeps is an attempt to galvanise and stimulate opponents?

I think that is a good idea in a general sense. When a match is competitive knowing ANet is in there playing is a very good thing.

When a server is struggling against significantly more populated servers it probably isn’t a good time to mark an outmatched servers most prominent structure.

For context, YB was snaking Garri while DB was trying to stop a Mag zerg from taking its only T3 keep (Lowlands). While the EBG keep fell to Mag, ANet stamped Garri with their tag. This happened last week with SBI holding and making DBs Bay T3 with an Anet tag as well. It just felt like ANet was pouring on not trying to motivate.

I was apart of the YB group that took your garri, how the heck are we supposed to know that another server is hitting your EBG keep. Shortly before we went for you garri we had been working on your bay for a while but Mag came behind us and killed us so we switched our attacking area to garri since we knew Mag was over by bay. Even with that Mag tried to come steal garri from us before we could cap it but was too slow. The reason why the Anet tag was put on the keep is because like other guilds they have upgraded their guild hall and have all the buffs, and the guild the dev was running with had the claim on hills that was being upgraded so he put the buffs on for us, not to rub it in your face. Also, when he puts the claim on things we know we are going to pull groups to come look for him so we usually get lots of fights out of it.

lets solve this once and for all. First off all, take the relinking away just merge the bottom servers to the top ones already, waste of time relinking them every 2 months when people will complain about relinks anyways, and could spend that time on other things. Second of all if you ever want to make scores interesting even though there are population differences between servers is to bring in a handicap system. Based on the glicko differences in the servers in a matchup the lower server would get a certain amount of victory points per the difference in glicko between them and the top server in the matchup.

So say server A has 2000 glicko
server B has 1980 glicko
server C has 1950 glicko

I would say for ever 2 points difference in glicko the server would get 1 bonus victory point. So server B would get 10 extra victory points and server C would get 25. Now some times this wont work because large groups will transfer and it will take glicko some time to adjust, but if populations and the way servers play don’t change much this should bring closer scores.

The best way to still improve the matchups overall to make the lower servers have a chance is by putting in a handicap system to give the lower servers in the matchup points to help keep the scores close and more interesting.

Just how long will it take Anet to realize they should do this is the question. Just look at the games of bowling or golf as examples on how to make matches more interesting, when one group is clearly better then the other.

For the next expansion

As we all know Anet is working on the next expansion. Lets get a list of ideas we would like to see with it, so hopefully we get stuff we want and not another map like the Desert Borderland.

The first thing I would like to see would be a third borderland map. This allows for 3 different looks, one for each color. Map size, I would prefer to see it more like the Alpine map, but in the middle I would rather see more of a fighting open area, maybe even a king of hill event that pops there every few hours like the desert map used to have an event but instead of damaging doors it gives players on a server a buff for a few hours.

Second of all I would love to see a new map added all together called the battlefield. This map would have no points to capture and would be just a big open map. Size of map would be about half the size of a BL so there is still plenty of space for multiple different fights to be going on at the same time, but you don’t have to run forever to get to the fight. I would love to see either like a marsh or snow theme maybe for this map.

Finally with adding in the 5th map, Anet should lower the population on each map to help with lag issues, even if that be like 10 or 15 less on each side, I think would help at least some.

Best way to fix the issue is to create new servers free to transfer to, lower the population limits on maps because the lag is already stupid and people will be more likely to move if they have to sit in a larger queue Next create at least one more Tier because of lowering population limits on maps you will need one more tier so people can play and not have big queues. If you lower the population of every server by 10-15 people per map that is 30-45 less people and should help lag issues in large scale blobs in SMC and other places, but still allow for large scale groups fights of still 50 people or so per side.

I like option 2 the best, but also agree that having a WvW rank for guilds is a good idea also. For all the guilds that have put so much time into WvW we should have a rank that displays with our guild name when we capture something to show our pride of playing WvW through the years.

I miss the old days too, right now it all just blobs of who can spam one faster with the lag and which pugs have the better armor/ group comp, no skill needed. I would prefer they have a new poll on linking and see if people still want it. I think some wanted to give it a try but I would say most now would say they rather not have it. If they want to merge T7 & T8 servers because they are so unpopulated, I can agree with that. Otherwise just let servers be on their own, if people want to move for a change of things they will, and if you have issue with people getting stuck in bad matchups all the time switch to the one up and one down system.

I would love for them to get rid of the tactivators and bring back bannering the lord instead. However with the emergency way point it is easy to farm bags even outnumbered as their is a loading time where they are spawning in when you can hit them and they are defenseless. Seen so many zergs dying when emergency waypointing in.

I love how certain people have lost respect to a good fight and have gotten so low to now throwing piles of trays of food and banners on downed lords so it is harder to click on them to rez them and same thing on tactivators so you can’t pull the emergency waypoints. Two easy solutions for this are one, no food zones near tactivators and even siege, so trolls cant put siege on it to screw you over too. Second, make a range that only one piece of food can be within a certain distance of another so they can’t throw multiple foods on a downed lord, so you at least have a reasonable chance clicking on the right thing.

So sad that this even has to be a topic and something Anet has to fix, people have gotten so desperate and it is quite a sad thing to see.

Or we could just unlink all and have an open moving period where certain servers are open for free transfers to move and then have the system that after each matchup one team moves up and one moves down, to create different matchups. Some people are just sick of the blobs and enjoyed playing in the lower tiers with less populations on them.

I think the skirmish system is a step in the right direction with a few changes needed.

First off I don’t think upgraded things should be worth more because this helps night capping because they flip things and then it upgrades for 6 hours before the other servers get back on and finally start to try and take it back which takes time and those servers will still be loosing matchups because all there stuff is paper and even though they may start to own more it is worth less points.

Second recommendation I have is like some sports to balance out the matchups they have handicaps like in bowling or golf. My recommendation would be take the top place server in each matchup and for every 5 glicko the other servers are behind them they get 1 victory point. So like this week in T1 NA:

Current Scores would be:
Maguuma – 102+ (2065-2037/5) = 107.6
Blackgate – 98
Yaks Bend – 73+ (2065-1877/5) = 110.6

Now there is still 3 days to go but clearly this brings the lowest server back into the matchup and gives them a chance.

Third thing is I agree there should be rewards at end of skirmish that you play in, but just like the reward you get at the beginning of each reset for the last week score you shouldn’t need to be on at the end of skirmish to get the reward. It would suck to play for an hour and 50 minutes and have to leave before skirmish is over and get no reward. I already see enough people afk waiting for the end of 5 minute ticks for the rewards track points or even leave the character there until the game kicks them out to get reward track points from several ticks before it degrades to them getting no points.

Anet I appreciate you trying to fix server population. As you can see so far though, linking of certain servers is not needed. Population wise the top 6 servers are doing fine them selves and do not need linking (however is the future that may change and either need new linking or other ways to fix that when it occurs) . I would look at starting at the #7 server and link down from there. Here is what I purpose:

Thanks Anet for taking the time to listen to us players and I hope you take a look at this, because I think most of us enjoy having more people to play with but at the same time we want to actually be able to play the game mode we enjoy instead of sitting and waiting forever in queues.

Your top 5 priorities for WvW-Overhaul

I think the big things are:
1. Bring back the old stab from a year ago, give people a reason to go back to actual fighting, not just ranging each other for ever.
2. Bring back the Alpine map until you can make changes to the Dessert Borderlands map. If you are going to put some of the new tactivators in the alpine map please increase the time in between activations, they are currently too strong for how often you can get them. For the Dessert Map changes bring everything in closer, remove some of the height elevation and less chokes. Need it to be easier to move around the map.
3. Population balance and scoring I feel if you fix either population or if you fix scoring could at least partially if not totally fix the other so I would do either one or the other at first at see how it plays out before doing both.
4. Loot/ unused wvw levels, Loot needs to be improved be that wvw tracks similar to pvp where loot comes in faster or have if you get a certain amount of each thing you get bonus loot and that resets each week. Also for all those wvw players who have been loyal to the game mode for so long should be given something to use their extra level ups for, be that you can use it to buy armor or siege or even maybe wvw tokens.
5. remove the ability to tap things or make it harder, I hate seeing keeps being tapped by one person running up to a gate and hitting it once and it being tapped or shooting a guard on the wall making it tapped. Recommendations here is to make it so that a certain damage threshold needs to be meet for it to occur.
6. Remove EotM, EotM was meant to be a place where you went if you were stuck in a queue, with queues not being a issue other then EB, get rid of EotM so we can get more players into wvw to actually fight and also stop people from going to EotM to get supplies for repairs or making big pushes on other maps.

Hello,

I was wondering if you could explain this to me. I purchased the expansion right away when it was announced so I could be a part of all Betas as it was stated when you paid for it. As a WvW player that logs about 30 hours in WvW each week, I was looking forward to testing out the new borderland and looking for any issues that can be fix or improve for WvW players like me that love this part of the game mode so much. So my question is why am I not able to be a part of the stress test, I consider stress test as a beta test and figure that I with my purchase of the expansion should be able to be a part of it. Please clarify for this for me if you could. I look forward to the expansion of the game and to be a part of other beta test to help you the creators make a better experience for all.

I was fighting in SMC tonight, I am on SOS and we were fighting both FA and YB for SMC. The skill lag for everyone was terrible. Some skills never went off, others would take 15+ seconds to go off. Never had this issue before the patch. Please look into this. Happened about 9:30 p.m. central U.S. time.

After a day of work I come and hang out with these guys and gals and no matter what kind of day it has been it always is a great evening hanging out with them. Come join the BevR, it is a wonderful guild of people that are always fun to be around.
