I have submitted a ticket but I keep getting emails back to reset the password. I have done this five times and it’s getting increasingly frustrating. Each time I login I get this error:

The account name or password is invalid please check your information and try again. Error Code: 11:1001:2:1524

I found another forum post with the exact same issue, and they resolved it, but they never explained how. They were on Windows 8 and I am on a Mac so I am assuming it’s not my OS.

Can someone PLEASE help me.

I used to, maybe I should sub-up again.

As someone who has been playing SWTOR more lately I say go back. This game is a sucky zergfest. After I returned I was really glad I did. I just logged on tonight for a bit of a break but wow am I ever glad I left GW2. PvP in SWTOR is quite good now.

I’m actually eternally grateful that Anet decided against Range focused and Melee focused classes. It causes too much circular design.

Your standard range focused class is going to have ranged attacks as their DPS focus, with some melee escapes, and speed boosts. Now you have to design all your melee around that fact – they’re going to need gap closers, snare cleanses and roots. Of course now your ranged class is going to need a root breaker , or else they’ll get owned every time melee gets close and roots them. How many of each does each class get? Where does it stop? What about your other "Primarily Ranged’ Classes (usually casters)? What about the interaction between Melee classes; can this speed boost designed to allow class X chase down a ranged player be used in an undesirable way against other melee? Its hard to find that perfect balance, and fights start to boil down to “well, He had ability Y off CD, and my ability Z was on CD, so he won”.

At least here you have options. You can also tailor all your utilities and traits to keep Ranged up as long as possible – that way, if you blew all your tricks and your opponent is -still- in melee with you, you’ve got that option to switch, rather than just getting pasted.

So on the one hand you talk about the incredible complexity and huge number of scenarios that can play out when you have ranged\melee classes, but then state that you have more options without?

GW2 lacks true melee and ranged classes because every class has ranged and melee attacks. It’s a great concept, but for someone who enjoys playing ranged classes and kiting people, it is just not possible.

Ranger longbow/short bow or Axe substitute
Thief shortbow/ p/p or p/d
Warrior Longbow/Rifle
Mesmer Staff/ Great Sword/Scepter
Engineer Rifle/Pistol/Elixir Gun / Grenade Kit (longest range in the game when traited can kite other ranged with this)
Elementalist Staff/ Scepter
Necromancer Staff/Scepter/Axe
Guardian Scepter

your complaint is invalid as even in other more traditional mmos sometimes a ranger has to deal with a mage. It just so happens here anyone can be ranged on any class.

FOTM and how it will ruin this game in my view

FotM’s will not ruin the game and will not necessarily force constant balancing – it’s a natural part of the metagame and will keep things interesting.

Even if you have a perfectly balanced game, certain tendencies in builds will be established, just because ppl tend to copy builds of pros. Therefore, a metagame is being created and stabilized. Until ppl try to counter the metagame or use different builds simply because they are creative and to try out sth. new. Ppl will copy it and the metagame will shift again. After a while (if there weren’t no balance-changes), ppl might return to the old builds, because the current metagame might favour the old builds and without major balance-changes, they will still be viable.

This is the cyclical nature of a Metagame and we see it in tons of very successful e-Sport Titles like SC2, SC:BW etc.

This will also create an interesting dynamic between playstyles on different servers, where maybe another meta was established (because of timezones and the current popularity of streams (not neccesarily in GW2, but gaming in general), US-players could develop a very different Meta of Player on EUServers).

IMHO, it was an incredibly good choice to not hop on the WoW-bandwagon and stay true to the GW1-PvP-Philosophy, where you could play every class in PvP without having to go through gruesome PvE first.

You cannot make a serious e-Sport-Title that requires you to farm gear first. It didn’t even work all to well with WoW and that thing had like a bazillion players and every sponsor basically threw money at ppl to make WoW an e-Sport, just because of the player-base.

*Edit@ People saying that theres no real reward in sticking to a class: Well, theres no real reward for sticking with Zerg in SC2, or sticking with a certain position in HoN, Dota2 or LoL, nor sticking with a Char in a Fighting-Game…. other than, well; getting better at playing it. I see that GW2 pvp might feel strange for ppl used to other MMO’s, but that’s how competetive Games should work: You should be able to jump in and try every build or strategy you like, the only restriction being your skill.

It’s an interesting point and I agree with what you say. The only thing I disagree with is your last statement…..competitive games exists outside of GW2, I don’t believe that you can say that WOW, for example, doesn’t have highly skilled elite players, and the WOW system works for them. The way MMO’s approach competitiveness can be seen as a metagame in and of itself with GW2 taking a different build.

It is obvious the devs at ANET spent a lot of effort and time creating a well balanced, and thought out sPvP system that relies heavily on skill and teamwork to succeed. Also, they eliminated gear progression, which means one player can’t just wipe a bunch of others. In other words in a 1 v 2 situation you are going to lose. All great concepts. But I finally realised what I miss from other MMO’s that unfortunately GW2 severely lacks,…

A class that has greater range than other classes, and where the melee needs to lock you down, or close the gap, and you focus on kiting and killing them. I miss THAT. Here if you create a gap they just pull out their rifle\pistol\bow and keep hitting. I don’t want to be melee…but have too in order to survive. I miss that dance where you keep yourself at max distance from the zerg, try to find open spots to cast your spells, pre-kiting when you need too. That just doesn’t happen here. And I’m sure players who like melee miss having the back up of healers, and hate the fact that EVERYONE has ranged attacks to waste them. I don’t know..I’m not a melee player. Does anyone else find this?

Anyway, maybe this just isn’t the game for me and perhaps I am burn’t out but I just don’t find pvp enjoyable and end up feeling frustrated. It was a pleasure to log in to SWTOR the other night and remind myself how fun it is to play a ranged class…as sad as that sounds, and I was only a lvl 10 Sorc so it’s not like I was maxed out with the best gear.

I couldn’t agree more OP. There is no reward to sticking to a class, i.e maining, and I resent the fact I have to change the class I want to play in order to be more effective.

Excuse me, why was he infracted for this post? It’s a good suggestion, and a good observation of the game. I completely agree with OP.
However, I don’t mind thieves that much as bunker eles and guardians are just ridiculous, combined with portal mesmers… makes the format quite unplayable.

1 stun break or a well timed roll and you’re in the clear.

If you have a 6-10k hp, then you do not have time to use stunbreak. You will die instantly.

If you have that much hp you rhave chosen a glass canon build, and as such, cannot complain about other high burst builds one shotting you.

There are already TWO established guilds that have the same purpose, one is Extended Contact List [iPuG] and the other is Crossfire Gaming [CG]. If people want to join such guilds to make it easier to find people to run tPvP with, they should join already-established guilds, making another one just makes it worse and harder to find people.

YOu have got to be kidding me? Then why even have more than one or two guilds? Surly the same applies for PVE and WvW. Why doesn’t everyone just join two existing guilds on a server for PVE and WvW?

Just went into a game and one side was all thieves bar 2 players, the other side was all DD Ele’s bar 2 players. You have gone from having one seemingly OP class to two, and that is not including mesmers. This is ridiculous. You have set up a game where no one gets any type of reward to ‘maining’ a class, and the result is that everyone just rolls the current OP class and it’s boring in sPvP to not have a balanced mix of classes. You need to address this. Now the problem is if I am to have any hope in enjoying the game I have to play a class that copes well with this new Ele/Thief combo, as opposed to playing the class I enjoy.

I need to talk to someone in the guild Fotm. I know the F stands for fractals. A player named Jackin Kids was building rams in our keep to waste our supply. I have his account ID too but won’t post it here. We have many screenshots and many people have reported him. But I want to talk to a guildy so they know, and if they were aware of this? I believe the guild is from SOS, but it may be a JQ guild.

So man, what do you want to prove with that video? That a group of lv80 players with x Orbs of Powers and x food buffs can defeat a minizerg of upleveled people in WvWvW who actualy has also no clue on how to target enemies?
People should stop to post WvWvW footages to prove something or at least have to watch closely the video they post as a proof.

I think because you guys are arguing you’re not seeing the point he is trying to make. I completely agree with you on the warrior video – the guy was amazing. But I think the point he makes with Necro and Warrior is that their survivability comes from tanking through the damage vs a thief, which comes from evading the dmg via stealth etc. Although I agree a Necro can get out of trouble it involves, in nearly all cases, the Necro tanking through the damage while they pull away all the while fearing, chilling etc. I think this is his point. The theives survivability comes from stealthing, dodging etc. In other words it can’t take much damage it has to be slippery adn evade it.

I see comments like this all the time. “Mesmer beats me harder than Thief, but Mesmer is fine, yet Thief is OP.”

I started playing a Mesmer a couple weeks ago. The kitten they can do is just insane. People complain about thief finishing while stealthed, yet using Distortion and finishing (Invulnerable, can’t be interrupted, no cast time so doesn’t interrupt finishing itself) is okay. This is just one example. I could go on.

I’d just like to hear from the perspective of someone who gets pooped on by both Mesmer and Thief as to why they think Thief is somehow OP while Mesmer is okay.

I didn’t say Mesmer was ok – I do think Mesmers are OP.

5. Group PvP: PvPers are very selfish people, the only skill they care about is their own. More importantly PvP becomes exponentially harder to balance and less accessible the more players are involved. Unless you’re designing a game like baseball and put strict limits on what players can and can’t do team PvP will not support competitive play.

Speak for yourself. Look at the top competitive teams and they are ALL about teamwork. i think this says more about you than anyone else.

It really isn’t a problem.
Each profession has its plus points and it actually depends on how you play. I saw necro (dev) video in which he took on 3 people all by himself and won. And don’t say “He’s a dev so he can do that” ‘cause 3 on 1 is really challenging for a medium armor class.
I am a thief and even with my burst killing a guardian is tiring. There are times i feel that their health bar is on a constant lag or something.
Since you are a necro, your armor is light so killing you is easy for any class unless you do something about it. I could tell you the combo which the dev used but that wouldn’t be fair. Try to find the right combo in the pvp practice arena. All I’ll say is that the necro special and elite skills are nice.

I’m not sure who you are talking too? If it is me (the OP) I am not sure of your point. I don’t have any problems with lower burst classes. But thieves are still somewhat difficult I find. I know you are talking about the plague form and AOE blind that is nothing new.

The main reason was backstab hitting for 8k (sometimes), and then only a few more hits and I was down. The second reason was heartseeker having a gap closer, and big damage dealer, all in one. With that I decided to make an alt as a thief to mainly learn their weaknesses etc.

Having played a thief for a little bit here is my perspective. Also, please bare in mind that I am a bit of a noob when it comes to thieves, however I would still say I am pretty decent. So here is what I learned. Just how thieves are a Necro’s worst class (well maybe Mesmers then thieves), I found that Guardians and Warriors were my worst class as a thief. But in general I realised that thieves are super super super squishy and if you can’t kill someone quickly you are more than likely dead yourself if you can’t slip away. Not to mention you can’t really enter into the zerg fight as even AOE’s will hurt. This doesn’t help the reputation of the thief however, because it means thieves are always on the outskirts ganking people giving them that OP rep. I feel the dmg does need to be pretty high to compensate for the lack of survivability. What I learn’t with my Necro is to make them waste there initiative and then they are toast, or they will run away, which is fine since they won’t be bothering me anymore to achieve my objective. The longer you drag the fight out the less likely they will win. I always knew this I guess I just didn’t realise the extent of it.

So that is my two cents. I think thieves, in good hands (not mine), are probably slightly OP, but certainly not to the extent that a lot of people think they are. I think that thieves should be that ‘hard to hit’ class, the slippery class, because they can’t take much of a hit. But maybe their dmg on backstab etc could be toned down a little. Certainly the bad players that spam HS also give thieves a really bad rep.

This shouldn’t be happening. Usually I am a big proponent of ANet but things like constantly getting stuck in a loading screen in SPvP matches, and half the time not getting into warzones because of that stupid ‘error’ message really distracts from the game and should be fixed by now.

Why can't we have elected commanders?

Give people the option to click on a commander icon and ignore it. that way only the ones you like will ever show up.

The problem still persists however, Most smart WvWer’s know who to follow and who not too. That isn’t the problem. The problem is the rest of the zerg still follows the bad commanders. I had a commander banging on SM for three hours the other night and not getting anywhere. The only thing he achieved was sucking away the zerg from more important stuff (people love to try to go for SM), and taking all the supplies. ANother commander was in the freaking JUMPING PUZZLE, and telling people to come join him AND building seige!!!!!!

There should only be a couple of commanders on the field at any given time, and bad ones need to be weeded out…..somehow.

Looking for Tournament active guild

Two of us are looking for a guild that is actively involved in doing tournaments, and this is their primary focus. Ideally, it would be a smallish guild of mature players who frequently practise and play together as I feel team work is the most important attribute. We are on normally at east coast evenings.

I am a rank 35 Condi Necro. This is the build I want to play, I am a support build and so will spread conditions to the enemies (obviously), keep them off you, and I am also pretty decent at defending nodes if need be. My friend plays a warrior.

5 v 5's don't work

What if someone wants to test a build and it turns out to be a very bad setup? That player now has to sit in the match and have no fun.

What if someone joins a 5v5 match and it isn’t fun because no one is working together and they are getting stomped and rez camped? Shouldn’t be penalized because you weren’t matched with a good team of players.

What if there is someone in the match that is being rude [not a rare circumstance] and you reaally don’t want to listen to this guy anymore? You shouldn’t be penalized for leaving.

What if my daughter hurts herself and I have to drop group or afk to mend her wounds? Daddy duty calls and I shouldn’t get penalized for being pulled away from the game.

You shouldn’t leave a warzone because things arn’t going your way. All of your examples, except the last one, I constitute as ‘things arn’t going my way’ so I will leave. Leave at the end of the match but you went in to play a full game and leaving is a rubbish move as you are letting everyone else down.

In the last instance, if your daughter hurt herself, I doubt you would be wanting to play your computer for about 15 mins and thus the penalty you would receive would be of no consequence.

The new patch changed a lot for the better, but there needs to be more work.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Roman’s didnt have other options, this is christmas time and there are alot of games coming out and alot of content for other MMO’s.

I actually don’t mind if they weed out a few people. I just want to play with people who enjoy the game…

It’s a bit tiring having people comment about this when they clearly have not read the whole thread. Please read before you comment as it just makes you look ignorant.

No one is complaining about 5 v 5’s. It’s a great implementation. But it is also a Beta test and they want feedback. As it stands 5 v 4 is a big advantage and something they need to think about. That is not a QQ or a ‘I hate 5 v 5’s’ it is a valid concern that I hope they can address.

I just don’t understand people who say the patch was a disappointment. They had a bugfix list a mile long with many pvp adjustments, a new (awesome) map, tourny qp points for more teams, the stealth bug fix, the guardian blocking fix, the endless bugged blast finishers on eles removed, a slight nerf to backstab thieves… etc etc etc

I’m sorry you didn’t get what you wanted this time around, but maybe if you’re a good little boy santa will bring you something nice next month.

Well I agree with you on this post. I think the patch was incredible!!! The new warzone is brilliant! I really think they did a great job and a patch this big, with so much new material, is amazing for a f2p. I’m totally impressed, and yeah there are things I want changed, but I am happy to wait as I know they will do the job right. It does smell a bit of self entitlement in many posts….

5 v 5's don't work

In random teams the game feels too random. No single player can feel like they are in control. Even in CoD when ur team sucks, at least you yourself are still capable of shining if you are good enough. In this game, if your team sucks, you are completely helpless. And considering there are so few options for building your own custom character to suit your own style, there is no sense of personal investment in seeing whether or not your current spec is capable of working.

Even in GW1, when my random team sucked, I still felt like I had something left to prove or at least test out when I was capable of running my own personal style of build with all the freedom for building that GW1 allows.

And also in GW1 the freedom of building meant that there was more of a possiblity that your opponents had built there characters in a way that would leave weaknesses to your own build. In this game, everyone is so rounded out, with two weapon skill sets, that you can’t really think for a minute that your spec is gonna be able to find a weakness in anyone elses when the rest of your team already sucks.

I’m beginning to agree with you. I think 5 v 5 in tournaments there is a huge incentive to win, but 5 v 5’s in PUGs is looking more and more like it is going to be a dueling zone. As I said above there is a huge number of thieves (even more than normal) coming in, and I had people trying to hide and gank me off the nodes when they were losing – they were not even trying to cap. HOnestly, I think people are using this as a place to have 1 v 1 fights, and that is why over 50% of matches are thieves. Don’t know for sure but this is my impression. Since I run a support build, and try to help the team, this sucks for me:(

Again I love that Anet responded but these are the current issues from my standpoint.

Maybe they should have a lobby before the game starts? I dunno I like hot join and you don’t lose anything if your team loses. I’m excited to try out 5v5 and see how it works. Actually my biggest concern was splitting the community between 5v5 and 8v8 matches.

It’s a great idea. I like that they brought in 5 v 5’s. But they need to make people stay. Just do what wow did and have a 15 min cooldown if you leave a match before it is finished? Or don’t start matches until their is a full team. I don’t know I’ll let them figure it out…but I feel it’s a problem.

I also noticed there are a LOT of thieves in 5 v 5’s. Starting to think people go there not to win but to duel. I was literally capping points today while standing and watching people duel off the node.

Then just select an 8v8 server. Many other people will appreciate the 5v5

What a useless thing to say. It’s Beta and so they are wanting to find out if things arn’t working. I am happy they introduced 5 v 5’s (thought I made that clear), but at the moment it isn’t working very well because if one person is missing it makes a big difference.

I love that they implemented it. I think the patch was great and I think what GW2 is doing is great.

BUT

5 v 5’s rarely work because someone always leaves and one person down in 5 v 5’s is a big deal!!! 8 v 8’s it’s somewhat buffered because there are more players. Can we lock players in for a game because people only leave because they are losing but it ruins the whole game for everyone else when they leave.

Necro or Mesmer?

Sparda, Mesmers are probably the better professions right now, BUT, Necro is hands down the best profession for a condition focused class. Most of your abilities apply AOE conditions (sceptor and staff), and you can completely control conditions. Great survivability. Just don’t go thinking that you are a 1 v 1 class because your not.

Didn’t know about this but it says in the tooltip that you get a stack of 1 bleed that lasts 5 secs, but it only lasts 1 sec and for 1 tick.

Not good!!!!

Can someone else please test this to confirm? Didn’t really know where to post this.
