Just chain cloak & dagger all day without killing them.
TDM was the worst possible game mode they could have added and I’m quite sure they are aware of it, probably didn’t take much to make such a tiny map with no objectives.
They aren’t willing to put in the time for a fleshed out game mode like GvG that would suck all the players away from their precious conquest.
Conquest is probably the only mode anyone will take seriously cuz anything else is gonna be kitten I bet. I just don’t get why they feel the need to throw TDM in rotation suddenly when no one even played it… nor asked for it.
I swear these guys have a list of things ‘how to annoy what little pvp playerbase we have even more trolololo’
What is the mechanical difference between GW1 and GW2 cutscenes? I could skip mostof them there iirc and all of those ones were live action or w/e you wanna call it.
With a trained eye you can time evades against most CC. Warriors are the most obvious in the game with their hammer, learn those animations and it becomes a complete joke unless caught off guard.
Any time an engi is doing a long cast it is either a pull or their crate box which stuns you once out and most of the time unless you are good it is just smart to run away vs their ‘iwin’ button. Always run at least shadow step, sometimes you can’t avoid it and need to break out of a knockdown or stun. Time how long their knockback bomb takes to explode and as long as you aren’t immobilized or if you have a teleport it is non issue.
Some CC is basically unavoidable unless you get a lucky blind or spam dodge.
Word of advice.. don’t even try condi thief they are incredibly bad unless you are playing WvW you can cheese with P/D. Anyone in spvp is going to rek those builds. Thief isn’t designed to stay in a fight for long. You get in, burst, and get out. You should not be getting hit the majority of the time because when you do you are pretty much dead.
You can’t rely on stability like other classes, and dagger storm should not be used in spvp. Bask venom is our only good and truly viable elite skill. Also, signet of shadows should never be ran in pvp.
TL;DR you should not be getting hit, l2dodge/teleport/blind/interrupt/run
Watch for stability and blocks, time your CC so you can bring the pain to them.

I think that would be a grave mistake. Plenty of new content for people who like the type of content being offered. And no more buggy than most MMOs I’ve played.
I’m curious what other MMO you’ve played that has major bugs for so long.
TBH there is a ridiculous amount of bugs in the game that would hve been addressed in other MMOs about 20x faster.
Especially in a game that claims e-sports these should be 100% top priority immediate fixes over 2 years ago.
Immobilize bug – getting stuck for absolutely no reason, happens during combat and other actions.
The new teleport bug which I believe is actual a recurring old bug where you get sent back to your original position is quite hilarious indeed.. trolled.
I main thief but I’ve played warrior off and on during GW2 lifetime and still my sword 2 and greatsword 5 miss about 90% of the time unless the target is standing COMPLETELY still.
Taking fall damage while walking normally down steps or a small slope.. oops guess I tripped on my shoe lace. Taking fall damage and jumping afterwards cause you to continuously take fall damage multiple times.
These are honestly just a very few examples, there are tons more that still exist today since beta.
I’ve played a lot of MMO and seen a lot of bugs but none this detrimental to the game for so long and not even taken seriously by the devs. Most players have taken them as regular features because ANet never talks about them or takes action against these obvious BUGS/glitches.
It is quite simply a joke, but I’ve gotten used to them.. so has everyone else. You may not hear about them often but they clearly exist and are a problem from major to minor doesn’t matter the fact of the matter is they have been in game and reported since ALPHA.
I think if GW2 had a sub it would not change things because they cannot prioritize their issues and have no clue how to manage from what I’ve seen. LS being their only priority at all and everything else being completely ignored.. yeah so great.
lmao this thread
Stealth pull counter confirmed, umad? xD
Such amazing design to the point where the game mode is almost dead, with only the same 100 people playing and pretending to be E-SPORTZZZZ
I’ve come to the conclusion that mmorpg’s PVP is only as successful as the PvE.
Just take WoW for example. Nearly 10 million players. The PvP is crap. If you knew nothing about WoW, you’d be absolutely lost. I played PvP for ~5 years, and I still can’t follow arena streams. Yet their streams get 10s of thousands of views.
Any other MMORPG PvP doesn’t even compare. Rift, Wildstar, ESO, 100x other that came out in the past 5 years….
GW2 is by far the best MMORPG PvP out there. But it’s only small, because GW2’s PvE population is small. If the game had the playerbase of WoW, we’d totally be esprorts.
1st of all it’s pretty easy to follow WoW arena streams.. they aren’t cluttered with a billion particle effects like GW2 but sure, try to understand any game when you have no knowledge of it… 2nd of all the game has 10+ million players because they feel Blizz have added a sufficient amount content consistently that cater to all players. Ofc they have made mistakes but never do they out right ignore the playerbase and remain silent on development status for years at a time like ANet. (hilarious ‘policy’ btw. who the hell came up with that?)
I will tell you some simple facts why GW2 pvp is not popular at all. It is not fun to watch, it’s cluttered with effects, very spammy, and confined to 1 mode and it is conquest of all things. Not a favorite in any pvp game as far as I know.
6 months for ’balance just to create more passive proc cheese and AI builds. Evades are constantly spammed instead of this reactionary combat that was supposed to be. I could go on but you get my points I am sure.
Pvp will never be popular as long as ANet forces us into borequest and certainly with the games stale state and hour long living stories I know more and more ppl are leaving / taking breaks so certainly we will not get any new blood. If this game is to thrive then there needs to be about a billion times better communication & effort to make the game great.
I don’t get it, why have a dumb policy that prevents you from communicating with your players about future development projects ? I was able to get full disclosure during Warlords development … get rekt ANet, lern 2 develop honestly ….
It takes months/years to roll out quality of life improvements and 1 hour long living stories, don’t be so entitled! Balance changes take at least 6 months everyone knows this xD xD xD xD
Mercantillians
Born in the new age of Tyria they are legendary garbage collectors with maximum mercantile skill.
Racial passive: gain 0.01% extra coin from garbage sold to merchants.
The AI isn’t really smarter, it’s just that their only attacks are rushing knockdowns/knockbacks/cripple immobilize etc. probably the only way ANet can makes enemies in this game relevant.
Enjoy
GW1 actually has cutscenes with talking and action, and ‘loredumps’ when talking to NPCs.
She is basically saying they don’t want that in GW2 … absolutely terrible. GW1 story and representation is 10x superior to GW2.
Hehe. No.
Infodumps forced into conversation are a terrible way to do exposition.
Forced? Did you play GW1? Obviously not.
Literally the most meaningless thing I’ve ever seen… watch all the white knights rave about this lol
Yup, while WoW players are too busy playing its new expansion I guess everyone will be voting GW2 for this to win ‘best MMO of 2k14’ on some random site as if that meant anything, it’s all vote padding by fanboys while everyone else doesn’t even know this exists.
Perfect example of how dumb this site is, go to the ‘best pvp in an MMO 2k14’ and GW2 is winning against LoL. Wait, what? First of all League of Legends isn’t an MMO LOOOOL and 2nd of all … GW2 pvp better? lmfaoooooooooooooooo MY RIBS
I won’t bother voting for anything cuz news flash…. this crap doesn’t matter or mean anything at all no matter who wins it, thanks for the laughs though!
GW1 actually has cutscenes with talking and action, and ‘loredumps’ when talking to NPCs.
She is basically saying they don’t want that in GW2 … absolutely terrible. GW1 story and representation is 10x superior to GW2.
The ‘lore’ (pathetic amounts) you get from talking to an NPC after an event in GW2 is completely negligible and hardly tells you anything.
It’s just an excuse to put less work in and less lore for the players. ‘little tidbits’ is the mantra here. So basically, the lore and story will continue to suck and move at snails pace ‘because we’re different, teehee!’.
Keep on reinventing that wheel ANet.. seems to be working flawlessly so far.
There is no reason for the aoe cap, damage is fine as is. It was just 2 hard for ANet to grasp the idea of players learning and adjusting their gameplay to counter the ‘issue’.
I would rather die to a player aoe than LOLSIEGE by the way… totally brainless OP damage, yay. Nowadays it’s either siege or attacking a door… when my server wasn’t completely dead and playing WvW was possible, I would pull people off their keep with scorpion wire and they would get rekt while they try to aoe us.
Pve players in GW2 are not demanding at all, it is fair to ask for substantial pve (and pvp) content, which is not conquest or living grind. Nor is it the fluff features they seem to spend years to develop..
If you want demanding then look no further than WoW, Blizz adds ridiculous amount of content and people still complain for more, most of them haven’t even completed said content.
I think we are very much entitled to some half decent content if ANet wants people to continue playing and purchasing gems.
By any other MMO standards, GW2 has gotten squat diddly added to the game since release. This is 1 of the most patient communities I’ve ever seen considering we are either forumites nowadays or do the same daily grind for that reward that never drops and let me tell you.. it’s boring.
I know ANet is fine with people taking breaks from the game and all, but they should entice players to play not the other way around.. adding a new grind every few weeks is not exactly an encouragement to log in imo.
Frankly I am surprised the game hasn’t died yet, though my server is very much dead the megaserver tries to convince me otherwise, one step in WvW shows me the truth.
(edited by Gimp.9460)
Unfortunately I think all the veterans in most games are currently being displaced. I mean look around…
No new dungeons, wvw updates, or PvP (we’ll see in a few weeks)
I know Sapience left turbine after a similar and much more public realization. (Sapience was the dev in charge of lotro’s community team, until he announced that only 10% of the player base actually wanted ‘raid level’ endgame.)
Listen to any vanilla WoW fan and they’ll tell you the game is getting easier via nerfs and the like. (WoD excluded because I don’t know how that’s working out)…Unfortunately devs are starting to ignore vets more and more, but not just here.
You are just hearing from the scrubs that do LFR all day and claim the game is ‘easy’. They wouldn’t stand a chance even in heroic let alone mythic mode. Blizz doesn’t ignore any 1 specific group, they cater to everyone. That is why the game has consistently made billions and has millions and millions of subs. Ppl complain in that game for no reason, whereas GW2 has real issues which are completely ignored and we are fed nothing but this living story crap which takes 30 minutes to complete.
If the WoW community was forced to play this game for a day I honestly think some would alt F4 life because of the lack of content. It is embarrassing that ANet cannot manage their resources and give the game what it needs… raids, pvp modes, and attention to all aspects of the game. Hell, they still can’t fix bugs that have been in since release. I still consistently get the immobilize glitch in this game where I can’t move for absolutely no reason after a teleport or some such. Some leap/rush skills miss 90% of the time, etc. WoD bugs getting hotfixed within a week, not surprising it’s Blizz after all.
One really wonders if ANet are afk because they are completely and utterly silent on the games development because of the most ridiculous policy.
Like I said, embarrassing. And it completely rips any will I have to play because I don’t know if the game is ever going to develop and expand in any significant way.
What I hate is if you have a Sup Sigil of Bloodlust on a Staff, and you are maxed on 25 stacks, then, out of combat, you switch to D/D – even if one of them has the same sigil, you lose your stacks. That really sucks.
I wasn’t aware people still used those sigils, I just use force/night.
It is dumb having to open inventory all the time, as long as we’re talking about things that will never be added we also need extra hotkey slots for food and usable items.
Some people actually like skyhammer, and not because they are trolls. I happen to be one of them – and since I play mesmer, not the best kb/fear classes out there, its not even something I take advantange of the way a fear spammer or hambow might, for instance.
Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I should have the right to play maps I enjoy too.
Sure, but it doesn’t belong in rated play.
I bet if everyone stopped buying gems the policy would change over night.
Then we may get answers to things like the 2 year+ old Cantha thread… I hope they know how ridiculous that is and how insulting it is to let your players do nothing but speculate on near zero information given.
Something needs to be done, I have already stopped purchasing gems since a yr ago and hardly even play anymore except to do my ‘grocery list’ of things. All we can do is speak with our wallets, because words aren’t reaching them.
Step 1) uninstall
Step 2) go play any one of the multiple MMOs that have released expansions. (and had near full-disclosure on information leading up to them!)
GW2 is already a shopping list, this would just make it more convenient to shop ;p
I fully and completely understand the frustration. I truly comprehend that players would like us — someone, anyone! — to “open the floodgates” on information. That’s not in the cards. However, I have some ideas that I am going to float internally to see if we can say a bit more while honoring the overall communications policy.
Gaile, there’s a number of responses to your post overall. I’ll keep it simple:
A company cannot improve communication with customers when that company specifically has a policy that says it can’t communicate with customers.
Your job and goal to improve communications is completely at odds with that company policy – and that policy is simply wrong for so many reasons that I could spend an hour writing a response about. Don’t work to find some way to work within the policy. Get the policy changed.
Arenanet learned the completely wrong lesson from the precursor crafting thing. It shouldn’t be that you can never ever let anything slip that isn’t 100% confirmed – it should be that when plans and priorities change, that needs to be communicated.
You can never go wrong by being open and honest with your customers. Your customers will support you, even if it is “bad” news, if you are consistently open and honest with them.
QFT
What a joke of a policy ‘no communicating future of the game to its players’
Imagine if Blizzard just stopped communicating all of the sudden… idk why ANet gets away with crap like this.
I guess it’s better to believe the game is dead/dying and will remain to get puny insignificant LS updates and pvp will continue to be ignored with 1 mode. ANet logic.. makes absolutely no sense to me nor does it sound profitable but hey I’m not an expert.
WoW gives you a minute or two to log back in before disconnecting. This includes if you are in a queue, in a match, in a dungeon or raid, etc.
Particle effects have been completely ignored for years. It is an issue for everyone, not just new players like yourself.
2 years and I still can’t see what the hell is going on.
GW2 is a job for me now
Starts at camping teq from 3 to 4, then camping wurm for an hour. You can get away with being a lil late to teq, but not wurm. Reminds me of vanilla WoW trying to set up 40 man raids, but in GW2 it’s 120 man. Raids should be instanced, 10-20 man.
Should I do the same old dungeons or fractal for no good loot? hrmm.. wasted enough time today, let’s go play WoD.
I will never know how GW2 fans are so oblivious to the fact game is rly grindy and requires a ton of wait time to do the only half decent pathetic rewarding content in the game.
Open world that requires 120 people to set up is inferior to instanced raiding ala WoW but most people will deny it up and down and that format is a ‘second job’ when really GW2 is much worse. When I raid with my guild in WoW we literally log in, hop on teamspeak, go to the raid entrance, and begin raiding once inside.
Instanced raids also have the benefit of saving your character to the raid, meaning if you down a boss it remembers and you can progress from that boss onwards and not have to repeat kill every time. (force-resets every week)
Yes, real raids have more than 1 boss fight!
In terms of open world pve absolutely nothing has changed with the megaserver, you still camp the main map for an hour to get a successful run.
But hey.. if we keep logging in, doing our daily routine, in 9 or 10 years that precursor might drop! Game truly feels like a job now, trying to get those impossible drops that will never happen and you’ve completed everything else in the game… we all know no significant content is coming and ANet will ride the LS out until game is completely dead but it’s worth a shot posting this in the hopes they read it and a little light bulb lights up in their head. Not likely, but hey.
GW2 had massive potential. ANet making the same mistakes made by past devs from other major MMOs and those mistakes went really viral and had important impact on those games but I don’t think they are even in the loop. I think they have their fingers in their ear screaming “LALALALA!” and do w/e the hell they want even if it’s not good for the game and all can see it except them.
They don’t even seem to be able to grasp the most simplest of concepts. THEIR OWN concepts from GW1…. I truly truly weep for this once wonderful universe of amazing lore and gameplay… GW2 is not part of that universe.
You know what people say about this games pvp? “lol GW2 doesn’t have pvp.” <— true quote.
I don’t hate the game honestly, but it has lost its spark and is in no hurry to get it back, cuz the devs will not allow it to. And no I’m not talking about the precursor, that spark never dropped in the first place lel.
Most MMOs release more pve content with their gear grinds. It is ugly to release ascended armor and weapons but deny players any decent content with some longevity. ANet is basically just handing people more and more grinds, and they aren’t even trying to hide it… lol at the very least Blizzard makes me forget about the grind MOST of the time. In GW2, it’s in my face 24/7 cuz that’s all I see.
Gods forbid I even attempt gearing an alt… lol not happening in GW2 bro. Eventually I will be unable to log in anymore, I love my friends who play but idk how they can take the mundane task of doing the same thing over and over every day. 30 minutes of a LS episode is just not enough to keep me interested, everything stays the same. Open world zergs is all I’ve seen added to the game thus far.
I tried spending some time in silverwastes after I got all the achievements I was like what’s the point… the loot is garbage, the whole pacman thing was frustrating considering I had just made a post about ANets instagib 1shot mechanics being so annoying so after I got that achievement, I never and will never go back.
Not to mention, big surprise here, it’s just yet another open world zerg with lots of waiting time in between doing mundane tasks.
(edited by Gimp.9460)
Lol zerk doesn’t trivialize combat.. it’s for players who know how to dodge. Don’t dodge? Miss a dodge? You down bro!
In other silly sets you can facetank all day… how is THAT not trivializing content? If anything, zerk makes stuff more challenging.
High risk, high reward. In this case, less time autoattacking w/e trivial content you are playing. Most players would point a finger at encounters because that is the issue here.
Fortunately, anything and everything can be run in zerker and as long as you know how to evade certain attacks it will always be the best. Unless ofc ANet forces people out of this set.
This is what happens when you make a game more or less completely based on DPS, but “no trinity” everyone said… you’re welcome!
(edited by Gimp.9460)
And in real-life circumstances, where you may have two exotics, each with a sigil specialized for different situations (day/night) …that may be better than having one Ascended with a generic sigil.
I don’t even wear exotics in real life, just normal clothes. what a newb!
So it’s even easier and completely free to get a character to 80 without understanding any of their skills and traits? No thank you. If you want to play a new character so much, actually play them.
Because it’s so hard to put your points into power/precision and learn how to autoattack?
Such a simple, yet succulent and tasty suggestion. I could devour it with some nutella spread across its sweet sweet loins.
I would even go so far as to add some powdered sugar, or perhaps nestle chocolate syrup… maybe pancake syrup? So many possibilities with a post like this.
Maybe it could do with cookie crumbs sprinkled on top with tiny M&Ms, mayhaps it would be better to just smother it in sweet & sour sauce with a side of chicken fried rice. Pork fried rice would work as well.
If you gonna get real cray up in here we could even squeeze a little lemon juice over the top, then smother that sexy body post in tartar.
That would be absolutely amazing… my only other alternative is to grind pvp for tomes which is ugh but better than doing events.
I think one problem of reward tracks right now is their discoverability. We released the Maguuma Jungle Region reward track with Dry Top, and it gives you keys for chests, geodes for the unique items on vendors, and new skin components. I personally love this reward track being intertwined with PvE as it creates a great reward loop, but not many people seem to know about since it just appeared and looks like any other region track.
The new PvP exclusive armor track was also since reward tracks released, but I’m not sure how many players know about it.
I’m sure there are ways to solve the discoverability problem. Our main mechanism right now is feature highlights on release pages, but those aren’t in-game anywhere. Perhaps a story-journal style unlock that alerts you to each new reward track release would be more effective.
Ya… that has been suggested quite a few times but not specifically for pvp. Do what WoW does and have a “what’s new” tab so we don’t have people logging in from 1 year ago asking where the hell their kitten pvp armor is.
Even with working leaderboards there isn’t enough players in spvp to properly tell whether you are good or not. The system in GW2 lets you eventually get placed with players far below your ranking or not ranked at all cuz it takes so long to get someone on similar MMR. As far as I understand it anyway.
How to fix this? First we need new game modes that are competitive and more fun to play/watch than conquest (cough, GvG, cough), then once we have enough players ANet needs to implement a way to ONLy get matched with players of your ranking.
Most people have given up on this games pvp so idk if that could ever happen. I’d expect 30 minutes queues lol. In GW2.. you either rek the other team or they rek you. There is rarely any good matches, you only see those on the tournaments.
It is a very sad state of affairs… but at the pace this game is moving, we’ll never have decent pvp or pve for that matter. By then we’ll have all moved on and forgotten.
I wish so bad this game could get some development going, are the devs even there???
umad bro this is esports :] enjoy top pvp worldwide anet #1 dev 10/10 would purchase gw3
WoW uses phasing for this stuff nowadays, you are in the same zone as a player precleanse if you are postcleanse but can’t interact/see them in some cases until both are postcleanse (or if both pre).
GW2 can’t do this cuz of events and if they cleansed Orr then no one new would ever see it precleanse anymore lol.
Tengu Assassin named Panaku for the irony ;p
“I imagine Jinzo spoke to you of duty and of balance. That is all well and good for him, but as for me, I do this for the thrill, the pleasure, and the gold. Look into your victim’s eyes as your blades steal away his life, and you can take his power, his essence, into your own. I remember everyone I have ever killed. They have become part of me. They are my power. I will teach you to be a hunter: you the spider, the mark your prey.
Now, listen carefully: I have a paying job from some…associates of mine. If you make the kill, I will split the profits with you. Headmaster Lee would not approve, but never mind that. Speak with me when you are ready to accept the task and learn new skills; we will head to the village to finish this job afterward.”
“You did it. Do you feel his life running through your veins?
Here is your share of the gold. As I said before, I would appreciate your not mentioning the specifics of our lesson to Headmaster Lee. We do not want to be on the sharp side of her steel. There were no witnesses to our actions, so if word gets back to either Headmaster Lee or the Tengu I’ll know how it happened. I hope we have an understanding.”
Assassin quest in GW1 for Twisting Fangs Q.Q
Cantha was a very unique Asian theme, nothing over the top or silly.
The music, terrain, characters, everything about it screams awesome. Easily my favorite place to visit in GW1. Dang you Am-Fah and your random rappelling down trying to smash my face
Too bad they removed any semblance of it in GW2… even the small district Divinity Reach that was dedicated to them in alpha/beta.
Yeah that’ll be the day when ANet creates some kind of content as an adventure quest without RNG or grind to get a cool item. Not gonna happen, the 3 people on the dev team are too busy creating LS.
Or you know, they could stop adding 10 different currencies a month.
Superior Rune of Aaaargh
1.) – 50 Vitality
2.) – 50 Vitality
3.) -50 Vitality, 50% chance to yell “Aaargh” and gain 3 stacks of Torment when struck (cooldown: 5 seconds)
4.) -50 Vitality
5.) -50 Vitality, 50% chance to gain Aegis every 3 seconds for 15 seconds (Cooldown: 5 seconds)
6.) 6.66% chance for either you or your foe to have all stats set to 0 for 10 seconds and swap positions when struck.
Sounds like something from GW1 when the devs had creativity in skills ;p
too confusing
nothing is off the table
cannot comment at this time
Seriously though, every currency should be tied to that wallet. That is… kind of the point of it.
Superior Rune of RNG
(1): +10% Time wasted
(2): +15% Forum activity
(3): 99.9% chance your drops will be blue or green
(4): +25% Time wasted
(5): .01% chance at a precursor, reserved for those touched by the Gods
(6): You are touched by the Gods… or are you?
I felt the rewards from the SW chest farm were actually mostly junk, with the only things of any real value being some T6 mats and the occasional obs shard. I was getting those mats in line with about what I would do elsewhere by farming mats and flipping them for the T6 stuff. The thing is, this chest farm was fun. There were gobs and gobs of people gathered together collaborating.
I’ve been an aNet customer since 2005. I waited something like 6 long years waiting for this game. For a long time, I believed it was vaporware. When it finally came out and we saw the introduction of a whole new zone that November, I really felt that aNet was setting the stage for a product that would have a long development lifecycle steeped in a steady regular flow of new perm content, similar to what they did with GW1 for two years.
Instead, I find I’m investing my time in a product where features that are designed, tested, and released to production are modified/nerfed because players are using some mechanic of it in ways that weren’t intended.
Sorry but, I’m calling BS on that line of thinking. Given the frequency that this has happened with aNet, I cannot fathom this cycle being anything other than an intentional means of stoking this community. What I don’t understand is why aNet might do this.
Given the cyclical nature of these farm introductions and nerfs, these so-called “Bugs” and “glitches” (they’re not, we know they’re not, many of us here work in product/software design and management), then aNet should really assume responsibility for itself by fixing their procedural deficiencies.
In the days of GW1, aNet essentially crowd-sourced aspects of QA through a community engagement initiative called “Live Test Krewe”. If, by some stretch of the imagination, my cynicism is wrong and these cyclical farm intros/nerfs are not intentional, then aNet really needs to consider fixing their process by including a similar initiative from this product.
I agree, these ‘bugs’ nudge nudge happen every freaking release. Every. Single. Release. Something is being ‘exploited’, farmed, etc and ANet nerfs it then community rages.
Another post I saw earlier said it’s like “giving a dog a bone, letting him take a bite then taking it away” it is totally a bs move on ANets part, and I cannot fathom why they do this because I am not a psychologist.
I just assume they are crazy and taunting the community giggling like little school girls. Hehe watch them rage on the forums huehuehuehuetrolololo “so, should we get started on that next hour long LS?”
A lot of things were apparently ‘too confusing’ for new players, so they decided to make everything more confusing by hiding them until a certain level which I have ONLY seen that this stuff confuses players more than anything.
Quite the annoyance, really…
I believe those “shouts” are about non-story grinds like Legendaries and Ascended stuff.
In that case we should of course also take into account the title grind and such in Guild Wars 1, seeing as those gave actual skills and stats, right?
The fact remains that claiming that Guild Wars 2 is the most grindy thing ever and then referring to Guild Wars 1 is quite silly, seeing as both of them had rather much grind.
The HUGE difference being title grinding was not RNG like 90% grinding in GW2 is and with the double faction buffs it was so ez to max these titles… stop grasping at straws
The titles didn’t give the skills, just small buffs to them.
Doesn’t however change the fact that it is required grind that forces you to go out of the standard “do a couple of quests to move on” thingy. Sure you can get it by doing quests (some of them multiple times, since doing every quest once does not give you enough in the case of the Luxons at least), but it would still require a bit of grind. More so than anything in Guild Wars 2 when it comes to the main storyline.
If ever there was a time when someone was grasping at the tiniest of straws, it is now.
10K faction literally takes like 30 minutes and you only do it once ever for that character, this is NOT a grind. A small gate, sure, but not a grind lmao.
GW2 = grind
I get your point, 80 levels is pointless in GW2 it should have been much lower or none at all.
The devs were really confused when it came to what demographic to please during development so they just added a bunch of levels and grind for no real reason and not a lot of content attached so in the end both sides got boned.
But don’t worry at 80 in zerker gear you will rek everything in lower zones except maybe some champions. You definitely retain some power from gear and traits.
I don’t know what MMO you are coming from (if any) but GW2 has no end game or really anything serious so don’t taken it so. It’s basically a farmville2, something to play during your offtime of your main game.
The upscale/downscale stuff is something that GW2 gets right. Games like WoW are very good at making entire swathes of their content obsolete and not even remotely challenging for high level players with every gear/level upgrade they get. It’s a pity really. You can’t really enjoy the years of past content WoW has to offer as they were intended to be played. You can solo raid instances which previously took a full raid group composition to kill to farm for mounts and stuff, but it’s a shame these once epic zones were reduced to niche solo farms, imo.
Hopefully GW2 never becomes like that.
LOL. GW2 is already like that, what game are YOU playing?
Even Arah can be solo’d, content in this game is trivial if you know how to dodge and run zerker gear.

I find it highly unlikely that a dragon egg could help us defeat the dragons…
the egg will be <7 years old… the elder dragons are >1000 years old.
I hope this doesn’t dissolve into another scarlet fiasco with terrible inconsistent plot lines.
I wonder if perhaps they are going down the path that the baby dragon could absorb some of the wild magic released into the world by killing an elder dragon. Additionally, if we as heroes were to raise said baby dragon, it should theoretically be on our side.
That might be workable… not what’s going to happen though. We are going to find the egg, it will have mary sue super powers, and then trahearne will ride it into battle and single handedly defeat mordy.
chuckle
Ok, I know their story telling in game is bad (they do much better with the full text stories they’ve put on the news reel), but still, I don’t expect it to be that awful. Though, I honestly didn’t see Scarlet as a ‘Mary Sue’ personally. She was simply smarter than we were. People have such an issue with feeling inferior. Nor do I have an issue with Trahearn; he’s just another Togo.
Don’t ever disgrace Master Togo like that again

Plot twist: this actually happens.
Rewards in Rift are pretty streamlined now, you get the same reward (currency) to buy whatever you want in pvp, open world, raids, dungeons, etc.
Rift is crap, engine is bad, pvp is so unbalanced. And only 2 ppl working in trion regarding Rift. RNG everywhere…played it like 1 year and i am done with it. Was waiting for Archeage but RNG cancer from trion followed it there so that game will die soon…too bad for a game with great expectations.
But there are no quality mmorpgs out there, f2p suffer rng p2w dissease, gw2 lacks more stuff to do(b2p) and p2p arent good enough to pay for it (wow, wildstar, eso…)
Can’t deny optimization is terrible in Rift, mostly due to only 1core support and shadows.
