Maybe, but there’s a big incentive for ANet to keep the shard cap lower because it encourages people to keep coming back week after week to play raids. The way they currently have it provably improves player retention, which is a big thing for an MMO. If people would run raids repeatedly every day because the shard cap keeps rewarding them, they’d end up the way of dungeons apparently where people get bored of them very quickly.
I would refer you to my previous response in this thread. If they want retention there needs to be more content not gut the rewards from content that is there. And dont increase the shard cap but at least have some incentive to repeat the raids multiple times a week. The way it is right now, its almost like they dont want you playing more than once a week.
I generally dont get into these discussions but seriously raid rewards leave a very bad taste in my mouth. I dont know if increasing shard cap is the answer or adding more rewards but there absolutely needs to be some incentive to repeat the bosses every week instead of just 4 bags of gear and 2 champ bags.
Ive heard the argument about shard cap being there so players dont burn themselves out with raid and i would go along with it if there was any other content to do in game pve wise. None of the map events interest me, its been 5+ months since release ive done them enough times. Mindlessly AA-ing is not fun. Fractals..we all know doing swamp x 6, daily x2, Duo x1 is not fun. And fractal is content ive already burned myself out on for past 3 years. Dungeons being the same.
This leaves us with only raids which are really fun to do. I clear with my group then pug it almost everyday for no rewards and this is really making me walk away from the game more and more. The frustration just keeps growing. What is there to do that has any decent incentive..40 farm it is i suppose.
I have following suggestions for achievement which might make raids more fun and give veterans something to work towards:
1) Achievement to clear each boss with a squad comp which has 1 of each class, 10th can be a repeat.
2) A collection that starts when you down the boss and then fills up as you down each boss on different class. The reward can be something unique, like a boss skin buyable with shards or something.
The 2 together would mean that there would always be a demand for each class and people willing to fill that demand.
Feedback appreciated.
And i suppose i know already that some of the criticism will be to do with gearing all 9 classes or have extra character slots. This is why i suggest the reward from collection to be the boss skin buy able with shards so everyone can have it without the paywall of 9 characters etc.
Had this same problem, the solution is simple:
The quest opens up for the character, not account. Everyone can get the dirty cog but to get the rag you have to unlock the quest on the said character. Just go to Lion’s Arch and talk to the skritt npc and you can be on your way.
Yeah I thought the difficulty was about there and i do believe being able to conserve skills, break stuns, watch footing is personal skill. RNG is a factor but it is counterable with the said skill and hence why i made this post.
Again i will stress that adding something like this to future raids would be awesome. And by like i mean something that stresses on personal player skill a lot more than what kind of gear, buff etc you are bringing to the table.
I said like in bold to stress that it does not have to be a copy for the same reason. It does not have to be a disappearing platform neither does it have to be the condi. My point was that this boss does not require an optimal class comp, neither does it require you to be geared specifically. What it does require is skill/awareness on players part which to me is appealing. And more raid mechanics like that would be fun.
Then again i think sab is the best boss of 3 in raids..so.
Now i know this might get met with it is cheesable with DPS and yes it is mostly cause his health is not much but consider what im saying.
So i did the said fractal last night and the mistlock instability of random conditions became really interesting on the anomaly because of immob, chill, cripple and specifically fear. You had to be 100% present and everyone was responsible for themselves and their stun breaks / stability. I ran skills i never would and so did other people, interesting strats came out in terms of class capabilities and what they needed to run (For example i took the tempest GM for 100% reduction on movement impending on overload (also stun break)).
My point is a boss mechanic like this could be really cool in raids. Where people cant tank cheese because of something like disappearing platforms neither can you DPS cheese for the same reason. In fact the point would be taking whatever works for you personally as a player as long as your skill/awareness can match the situation.
Please be constructive in agreement or disagreement.
Dint know that existed, will keep in mind for future.
Btw the person who the stalker hit, she sadly had lag and the lfg never asked for exp or even 80, just said kill last boss after reset.
So i had the joy of playing ac p3 with this ele today who was a self claimed “expert” because apparently he ran with all the expert guilds. We were at graveling stalker and he hits us and gets distortion, stack gets broken and he says get back in stack so he evades less, told him stack has nothing to do with evade as he gets distortion on hit at which point he tells me “believe what you want to” i tell him its written right under his name lol and he just says “nah” Goes on to act all pompous and tell us about how he is an “expert” lol. And all this time he joined a party where we were running a lower level(45), new guildie through it..like really. Rags on him for picking up IB at burrows, we had 3 eles in party so not even like IB was a rarity and not that you need one absolutely to do it. Idk what to say..lol. Neither did we had trouble with any boss or anything either..just being a kitten for purpose of being one is stupid.
Chorus is just perfect :P
pug under 20 at your own risk. There’s not really much else to say :p
Good news is I see a lot of new people doing them, looks like the dailies are working in encouraging participation.
Yeah but was just going for tokens, need another backpiece.
kitten i deleted my post…figured no point in starting a pug hate…now your reply looks weird.
Outside of going full PVT nothing will really save them from much.
But that’s the point. Save from some, not all and still understand that hits are hard and need to dodge just not insta die.
It doesn’t save you from being miserable. I bet most of the fight your attention only narrows down to “not get too much hit” instead of “watching the tell and react appropriately with the skills ready in my kitten nal”. Your fight will be long as you hit like a wet noodles and once your allies drop, you instantly think to yourself "Let’s wipe, becauseI’m just a squishy no damage ele.
Idk when i was learning ele and the game(was my first class) i did go PPT and i did not think the way you say but that could just be me. It was always how can i live longer next time, gotta dodge that attack. And damage on knights on ele is not a wet noodle afaik.

Funny you mention it, in a fotm 29 atm, they wanted to and did bug Mossman :/
It’s unfortunate that they exist but at the same time he’s brutal enough that I can understand it. I’m still trying to master him myself. Love chill, immob and reflects on him though.
Buuuut 29.
Funny you mention it, in a fotm 29 atm, they wanted to and did bug Mossman :/
I suppose that’s part of the problem, they know most of us who like to challenge ourselves in PvE through dungeons and such will still just buy the expansion so why bother. Welcome to corporate world, if it sells, it aint broken.
I’m sure there are some solid trait setups like that for every profession.
Exactly my thoughts, except for ele I cant really think anything for that, well anything that would really save them. But those trait setups need to be better known.
With a good group you can run naked and die every fight but still get through easily.
Give me your skills please even my guild is called naked party I would very much like to pull that :P
Jokes apart, I understand the problem with gear but I feel like by the time they are ready to move to full zerk meta builds it would not be as big a issue. I guess I am thinking specifically for eles since changing traits can cause a massive change to gameplay. Plus would you rather not have a knight’s ele who lives and keeps up the might/fury compared to a zerk ele who does neither because he dodge rolls in water x_x
Idk why im even hating I used to doge roll in water all the time and loved it too, those were the days..
So I skimmed the news article about HoT from today about the outposts and adventures and all of that but not even a single mention of dungeons unless I missed it. My belief is just getting stronger that there will be no new ones ; _ ;
Yes and i tried putting in the philosophers stones anyways and the button was still greyed out.
Since a lot of people recently got the game black friday-christmas-new years etc etc there are a lot more people who have recently hit 80 and are hitting the dungeon scene or maybe its just me who has had the pleasure of running with them here and there. Now I will give them props for looking up the meta and gearing appropriately and fulfilling the “zerk” requirement. But its pointless if they die withing 2 secs of every boss encounter, various reasons like dont know when to dodge and dont know the boss mechanics. In total more or less the problem is their limited experience with GW2 pve. I seriously think new players should start with something little more forgiving and learn the mechanics of the game before moving on to zerk, because dead dps is no dps. Like maybe ele can do Knights with zerk traits or a new warrior can do Ep for a utility slot. Something along those lines. I dont know if there are resources for sub-meta builds currently out there, if not maybe we can work on one. And by sub meta I mean mostly meta but with little survive ability added to them.
But everyone here blaming the OP, even if he did die, mai trin with 4 at lv 8 is very doable, correct? So if OP dying was keeping them, does say something..im not the best player, in fact i am far from anything close to it but I have kept my own against mai when forced into solo situations because party was so bad that they had to glitch ellen and relog multiple times for dying. Have done this as both ele and warrior, so imo does not really excuse their behavior.
Me and my S/O pretty much exclusively play with one another. Yours being lv 60 might have a bit of a trouble to begin with but you can pretty much do most content. We regularly run dungeons, you will find a lot of unique ways to take on bosses etc(I would recommend her getting to lv 80 first for build versatility etc) when duoing and in open world one you get to Orr there is a lot to do there and before i guess my fav area is norn area so you can wander around there.
War video is blocked because of music im guessing. This is someone from USA.
There must be a bug, I searched my inventory and it’s just not there. I will fill out a support ticket.
Will you play pf for me? I will get you one o.o
Its my fav band ever
Easiest way is to follow guides on dulfy, some achievements have wonky mechanics at times. There are guides like one below posted for every story achieve.
http://dulfy.net/2014/07/15/gw2-entanglement-story-achievement-guide/
make sure your camera is in a horizontal angle when you use leap of faith because camera angle will affect the range of your leap.
:O i did not know this. Thanks for the tip.
So, long story short: Yesterday I was running AC P3 with a pug where we had a Minion Master Necro and a Staff Guardian (yay!). At Kholer nobody stacks but me, minions get aggro kholer does his spinning attack and get us all killed. Knowing that this will keep on happening I leave the party.
After that I pugged AC path 2 and 3, ran the dungeon without any inconvinient. But after that a friend and I joined a pug for SE path 1 and 3 and I had one of the worst runs of my life: On P1 Tazza kept aggro on me constantly, made me waste my blocks, blinds, reflects and invulnerability really fast (I play zerker guardian btw). As soon as I was resurrected, she sent the spinning clones that got me down immediately again. For Path 3 there was a similar scenario when we melee the carrier, I got focused by all the dredge, but this time WoR saved me. Destroyer of the worlds was similar to Tazza, he got me down only once as most of his attacks are easy to read and/or areas.
My question is: Is there a “punishment system” for leaving dungeons where you get more aggro from mobs than usual? I know that when you leave/join a lot of parties you can’t use the LFG tool for a while but I was wondering if there’s another way to punish the leaving parties behaviour.
Has anybody else experimented this? Was it just a coincidence?
Taaza focuses on 1 person. Once you have aggro she will generally stay on you till the end of the fight no matter how many times people rez you etc. At least thats what i have noticed in all my SE runs. Best bet is to have really good DPS to get her down quickly. And as jerus said, its almost ele first, seems like she targets smallest health pool but ofc that is a speculation have pulled her aggro on warrior etc too. Either way yeah..just kill her asap. On guard you at least have a lot of blocks..
I see that one of Goku’s solos from back then on Guardian is off the wall. Looks like he used no Energy sigils and traited for vigor. Cool. It looks like NoTrigger’s solo is entirely on wall, though.
@Obelisk, if you step away from Lupicus when he’s on the wall (still remaining in the no-bubble zone, but within the rapid-fire zone) you can get him to rapid fire. If you’re doing on-wall with a Guardian, you should do this if solo when you have WoR off cooldown to bait out his rapid fires for massive damage.
I have absolutely no idea how one would manage to not trigger the attack at all while off the wall, though. Unless Spoj is talking about using some of the elevated terrain in there to essentially have the same situation as ‘on wall’, but technically without the wall, in which case, that’s really easy.
As for the life drain, you can get an idea who it’s on by watching the direction he is facing (even subtle angles of it). With enough practice, you can fairly accurately determine if it could be on you or not. If it could be on you, burn that dodge and see if you get evade frames. Otherwise, don’t.
Can i get a link please? Tried searching guardian lupi solo could not find it.
Lupi is coaxed off the wall shortly after he goes into phase 3. Obviously, there isn’t really any difference (other than slightly less locusts) for phase 1/2 on wall versus off wall.
Thank you, guess anyone with name goku just has to be a god.

The attacks are triggered at certain ranges. You simply need to control where you are standing in correspondance with lupi to manipulate what attacks he can and cant do. However doing an offwall solo and preventing rapid fires will mean you will push him around the arena a bit. Which can be a dps loss for some classes.
You can see here in Dubs last guardian solo that he controlled when lupi used rapid fire by adjusting his position. And he did this on the wall. Basically moving away slightly when WoR was off cooldown and then moving in closer while it was on cooldown. A prime example of fully manipulating the boss to the players advantage.
So much balls here I cant even. i would have used my shelter right away probably because i know i would kitten up. Such a long way to go i have.
Thanks for all the advice guys, i will try to see if i can master triggering his rapid fire.
Also keep in mind being on wall has nothing to do with it. You can trigger rapid fires on the wall aswell. And you can do no rapidfire offwall solos aswell.
Trigger rapid fire? I did not know this was something that a player could consciously do. I followed Dnt brazil’s guide to lupi and dont remember him mentioning something like that unless i just totally missed it. Any pointers on how this is accomplished.
Also on another note, his 1 person life drain, if you are in a party situation i know its not a big deal but is there a way to tell who it is aimed at? Always waste 1 dodge on it.
I don’t think its possible to do lupi phase 3 without energy sigil on guardian unless you get ridiculously lucky with RNG or you pin him to wall for a 10 minute phase 3 solo. The problem with guardian in that phase is that most of your blocks are made useless due to multi hit spells so if lupi becomes relentless then he will exhaust all of your defenses rather quickly.
Not possible? You probably just made some people go…

On topic tho, someone, anyone gonna do this? I wanna see
We should get more people like you.
So much love on the forums! Ya’ll are awesome people.
It’s just that we’re labeled as toxics by the “PHIW” people, because they come and complain about the content they don’t know instead of learning it, when we gave them all the time/ ressources available to learn.
I think every person who talks about meta gets a bad rep because of few bad seeds. I have seen some examples firsthand where someone who was very skilled(not gonna deny that) treated the pug as trash because they did not entirely know what they were doing or were just not educated. Sigh, in fact i remember one of my arah p2 runs when i was in the “Whats a lupi” phase of my gw2 career..i asked a question like why not range lupi, i dint know any better, but was told i am a noob and should kitten..so i did lol. Then i later looked up why. Just a lot of PHIW players dont share same kind of patience and retaliate i feel..like i myself could have gone the other route..but did not.

I did not really think any of you guys were ever toxic. Over the past few days discovering and browsing the forums has increased my knowledge so much. Ive asked 2 questions and both were met with really great responses.Toxic imo would be me asking this question and getting a response like:
Guard is so easy to solo lupi, you suck, delete the game etc..maybe im just coming from a more toxic FPS community.
I use to have the pleasure of doing the weekend arah tours with Ivan, Jiyn and Zui. The amount of Energy sigils passed out was impressive
For a poor kitten like me and relatively sheltered dungeoning exp that is like someone passing on a fortune to me.
Pretty much every toxic elitist does that.
Send 14g worth of stuff to a random person they dont know or have never talked to? We need more “toxic elitists” then.
@Purple Miku . Shoggroth is an elemental, Jotun Stargazer is nothing. Brie and Belka are Inquest and Undead both work. After its true, every “boss” are undead
If this is true then we can just pull 20% dmg on her with both the sigils o.o
sent you two energy sigils bro check your mail
People talk about toxic community in this game all the time and there are guys like you. Thanks so much!! Like who does that..people like you never cease to amaze me.
Yeah the vigor is a good idea i was not doing that. Watching save yourself for vigor is a good idea too need to try that. RN i pop it when i get it and my scepter is off cd to get 2 good smites in. Problem is this kitten keeps lifitng in air and i just dont have cd’s to deal with that.
Oh and yeah, ik the wall trick but wanna learn to do him the right way. Trying to not even walk him to the wall.
Im a poor man, 7g is expensive to me since i am pretty tight on gold rn. Now that we have that out of the way.
Lets say i do him on guard. P1/2 is easy mode. P3 is where my problems begin. I realize this depends largely on rng but basically you need 2 dodges for his life drain. Then the lift and a dodge to get out of his AoE, in case wall is not up. Bubble avoiding i am good/decent at. I know i get shelter, elite and aegis but aegis and elite once used have such long cd’s that they are pretty much 1 time use. And lupi will keep doing his lifedrain/lift which even if i use focus doesnt block it entirely and i try to use sword jump to get out. Run retreat for the extra aegis/swift and save yourselves for fury. I am sure some of you masters have pulled this off. Any advice? Ofc i am running the full zerk build, maybe i can look into making some changes there to help with this. As long as it doesnt take forever im not going for a speedkill time, just to be able to solo him.
@jerus and dlonie
Yeah we were drinking inquest potions for her…might just make a difference. Such fails..omg lol. kitten u me..etc.
Thanks!….
but I’m not sure I’ll get that far either thanks to that Mouth of Zhaitan in Estate of Decay…
.
Np, you are welcome. Post to lfg if you are having trouble with a story mission and as ive told others if im online you can ping me and ill come help you out
Similar question but different leveling path. I am new to the game as well. I have a lvl 44 ranger (and an 18 elementalist I am tinkering with). I have only quested in all the starter zones (did storyline quests, some crafting). Where to next? Have not done any dungeons. Not sure how easy it will be for a ranger (not a huntard – I do know how to play the class in a group lol) who is not lvl 80 to get into a group. But I am not sure what the best path is. I do not mind the journey of questing, esp. a new game. Should I quest all the 15-25 zones, etc or just complete zone totally now (e.g., my racial zone) and later complete all the others for points, bonuses, etc? What is the "normal’ path for a newbie? Thanx
For your first character i would highly suggest the “normal path” being exploring the world. Not just for exp but GW2 is a very nice looking game you will come across some very breathtaking sights and if luck even some easter eggs. Some of the events are fun to do and you can make some friends doing such stuff. But thats not all, doing that will help you learn some very important mechanics of PvE that is how to dodge, when to dodge, how to best use your skills, how to kite, learn some attacks from mobs that are propagated throughout the game etc etc. These skills really come in handy late game and if someone powerlevels they will often miss out on them. Then there is your personal story which can be engaging. And crafting is upto you, i would recommend following a guide if you have the money for it so as to optimize your level output. If you need a change of pace you can always try story mode of lower level dungeons. Start with AC and move up from there. But doing all of this you will hit 80 soon enough. Once you are there a whole lot of possibilities open up. If you need in game help you can always ping me.
